XDA O2 Mini S - keyboard problems - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Hello all, newbie here. I bought a new XDA O2 Mini S on eBay (eBay item number 5837326300), and I just got it. Phone and internet works great with my Cingular GSM/GPRS service here the US...however, the keyboard mapping is messed up. The auction listing said it was a QWERTZ (whatever that is) keyboard and I believe it has an i-Mate ROM. My Z and Y are reversed and several shift+ inputs do not match what is on the keyboard. Here is the info from my device:
Model No.: WIZA200
Windows Mobile 5.0 (build 14402.1.1.0)
ROM version: 1.1.93
ROM date: 9/16/05
Radio version: 01.01.10
Protocol version: 4.0.13.16
ExtROM version: 1.1.9.106
Can someone please tell me how to get the keyboard to match the inputs listed on the keys? Sorry if this thread already exists somewhere...I couldn't find any relevant posts via forum search. Could someone also tell me if i should re-flash with a new ROM?
Thanks in advance! -Bill (Columbus OH, USA)

Could someone lend some advice please? this keyboard is driving me nuts. thanks!

Qwertz is the Croatian keyboard layout.
Is there an international setting that you can change?
I can't try it as mine Vario doesn't get delivered until tomorrow
But I won't be able to play until Saturday as it's my works Christmas 'do' tomorrow

also german

And swiss  Sorry, it does not help. Are you sure that the guy that sold you the device has not installed another rom?

we need only the keybddr.dll from a qwertz device, but nobody
can copy this file. (attribut system und much more)
regards

Hello,
can anyone with an qwertz device start this attached program ?
This will dump all system files on storage card.
Then post please here the keybbdr.dll
thx
regards

Already tried. The DLL is badly extracted. Size is wrong. And if you try to use it, there is no keyboard anymore. Tried on two M3000. Unfortunately, didn't have time to check further (if additional files or registry settings are required for exemple).

Hi jacoch,
are you using the WM5_Files_Dumper.exe ?
regards

Yes, I used that one (and also tested testwm5 found on another thread). It's quite strange, because all files are dumped correctly (html, images, etc...). But all DLL have wrong size, although their content seems correct (apport last bytes of course). I have tried to cut the DLL at the right size, but it didn't work. So if someone has time to look further, he maybe can find the trick.

You may try to use AEKMap (http://ae.inc.ru/aekmap.php) for make A<-->Z replacement.

but @ and ! are wrong ...
regards

the same to @ and !

can you upload the keymap file you are using ?
regards

I have no layout file to fix this issue because I have no such device at all. But as far as I know AEKMap beta was used for resolving similar problem on BlueAngel (and you may find this layout somewhere on the beta version page). And I will gladly publish such layout in database and present reg code to anyone who will send me new useful layout

:?
last week i download AEKMap and has try 5 hours to modify
one map to get the @
No chance with the keyboad from the wizard.
Other peoples has the same problem with @ and AEKMap and
the device htc wizard.
regards

As you may note the new version 1.1 was published two days ago instead of 0.9.4 Beta available since 2004. Probably this version will resolve the problem.
Could you please describe me, why you were unsucessful trying beta? Are needed keys were not cacheable? Or any other reason?

i try the new version now
my last AEKMap.arm.CAB has 97kb size
regards

Many thanks to greddy, German layout for wizard with QUERTZ keyboard and English ROM is on http://ae.inc.ru/aekmaplayout.php!

I have spent few hours in trying to figure if I can assign a button for changing layouts.
I have k-jam and I have 2 language support on it - english and german.
How can I toggle between those 2? I want to have a combination of 2 keys to go from german layout to english and from english to german (like ALT+SHIFT on desktop comps).
Any ideas?
Is it possible with this app?

german version of the xda-developers rom 1.2

hi guys
first of all thanks a lot for your work, it helped me out a lot and especially letting me get to know my new device much better and easier.
i just have some hard time setting up your xda special rom image. with an english version built in linux flashed with the bootloader way and xdarit.exe, it worked out fine but when i tried to built my own german version, it just shows the splash screen, at the lower right corned it show that the system initialised (with this g32S54 ; R3.17.01 message written in red) but than it just freezes and cannot be started.
i somehow tried it with a german t-mobile image, an old o2 image and the newest o2 image and i got the same problem everytime.
is there a way to get the german version running ? since i'm in need of the special signs or does your mkrom script just runs on an english image ?

To be honest, we never really tested mkROM much on German versions. But there's new developments on the horizon, and you may like what's coming...

What do you mean with that??? A universal multilanguage SE??? Special german ROM???
Please give more details...
Hi All,
English is ok for me. I just would like to get a german qwertz keyboard on it.
If anybody has freeware suggestions let me know.
regards,
Silver
did you mkrom, to extract the xipchain from your rom?
the offsets used in mkrom may need to be changed. currently these are all hardcoded for the qtek rom. have not looked at other roms.
thanks for the hint, i'm just about to try that, just did not recognize this xipchains script. but i'm working on that.
but since my knowledge is not that good it may take a while...
more hints are welcome .
actually this german qwertz keyboard is the most important thing for me too.. but having also a german language just makes navigating much quicker, and since there are a lot of people around here being interested in your special rom, because the original once just suck and are totally unusable. and yours seems to run very stable...

Sorry, no freeware, but there is an application called calligrapher, wich is a handwriting recognition thingy, far better than transscriber. It can use custom dictionaries and has a better keyboard included with it. I use it all the time with a dutch upgrade. You can get the german one if you like and youll have the qwertz keyboard. (Because of a bug, the dutch version also has qwertz).
I have also tried to built a German one...see http://www.xda-developers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1490&highlight=dolo
So I am even not sure if my Linux solution is the right one, or the hardcoded stuff is tricking me.
so any clue on how to get mkrom on German ROM running is apreciated.
Dolo
just checked the 3.19.01 german rom, the MISC block is larger than in the qtek rom. now it is partially overwritten by the XDA_DEVELOPERS1 block.
you would have to change the start of xda_developers1 to 81840000,
and also make it smaller, since not everything will fit anymore.
hey that sounds cool, but how do i do that ?
deleting some files out of the files2 directory ?
and how do i set the start block ? sorry did not have enough time to read through all the readme and how to files...
thanks a lot

MS Transcriber can't be installed on S200 SVE?

Hello everyone!
I'm new to this forum and Qtek/HTC/I-mate but judging by what I've browsed through so far this place kicks ass.
Anyhoo... I just bought a S200 with WM5 in Swedish (the only language available here) and the damn thing lacks the transcriber. I googled a bit and found out the transcriber could be installed separately. Well.. no. Not on my S200. It just says that "transcriber is not a valid pocket-pc application".
Has anyone with a non-english s200/prophet/JAMin actually managed to install the transcriber? I was really looking forward to using that particular function, it was actually one of the main reasons I bought a non-qwerty-phone.
An option for me would be to flash the whole thing to english (I'm an Aussie so I'd actually prefer it) but is it possible to use swedish characters if the OS is english?
Hello, where can I get the Transcriber to install on my S200?? I'm on a portuguese version and I also don't have the transcriber installed
Hello...
go to http://www.smartmobile.se/ and choose S200, then u can download the file from there.. it´s working... cheers!

Did you install a US ROM? If so you should be able to fix this by installing a WWE ROM I think.
Yes you can fix it, its a simple registry entry, in the
HCKU\ControlPanel\keybd entry
add a DWORD called LOCALE with a value of 0809

QWERTY keyboard to QWERTZ keyboard help!

hello guys,
the hardware keyboard on my i-mate K-JAM is QWERTZ but when i updated its ROM version it became QWERTY i.e. when i press z on my keyboard it displays y
and the other symbols too have messed up
pls help!
thanks in advance!
-Evil Eye
Maybe you got a wrong language rom from the one you had, try installing your old rom again.
If not it may be a hardware issue, maybe have a look for the keyboard mappers if there are any and remap your keyboard keys back to the way they were maybe.
Hope this helps.
Exemike
i sorted it out by Resco Registry Editor
i changed the string values of locale file to 0407
all done
if anyone wants to know a step-by-step method, i would be happy to help
thanks

HELP - Keyboard issue

Hello XDA
I have just noticed that the "?" key (FN P) is not typing the ? but an ";". Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
Fn P on my UK QWERTY X1 has ; on the keyboard. ? is at the bottom and doesn't need the Fn key.
Wierd,
Mine has the ? mark on the P key in blue. There must be a setting then for this somewhere in the OS
Austrian QUERTZ has the "?" on "Fn"+"P" and the ";" is "SHIFT"+","
Seems you have an English ROM installed but you would need a German one.
ok my keyboard is:
"?" on "Fn"+"P" the ";" is on "SHIFT"+"," the "+" is on "Fn"+"N". Any ideas
You have flashed UK rom on non UK device, that is your problem. Most of non UK X1 have localized keyboards and they will work ok only with org language rom. The only way for you is to find keyboard driver and swap it to your X1 orginal language.
Ok I just did a hard reset and it flashed itself. So I need to reload it somehow?

Are you kidding me?
Does not changing CurLang value work on X1?
Go to HKLM\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\KEYBD and there find CurLang value. You need to open the file and change the 1033 to the value of your device. I do not have the values here, but they are on XDA, please search the forums for the answer.
Where is your device from?
I assume that Austrian and German layouts are the same.
Go to the key I posted above and change it to 1031, close your reg editor and there probably is not even soft reset needed...
EDIT: If that gives the wrong layout try 3079 after that. (I do not know of this code is supported)
Under the device settings it shows GENERIC_UK... Other then that no idea, I do know the manuals came in some other language.. so not sure.
Use registry editor program, like the free Total Commander and do as I posted earlier.

(Note that I am guessing that your device has the German QWERTZ layout?)

I just tested this and it does work. Changing CurLang to 1031 changes the layout to QWERTZ and "?" is under "P" etc... Soft reset needed after change.
People please use the SEARCH on the boards. All these type of problems most likely have been addressed in other devices.

I got total commander installed, where do I find the registry at? Currently I am seeing a directory listing.
go to \\plugins, there is registry folder...
Well we are close! now the z and the y keys are backwards. Any other numbers to try? Thanks!
Ok then your device is not with German layout?

What country is this device from, that would help you know... Did you bought it used?
Bought it brand new from someone on Amazon, not sure what country it was from other than the booklets where not in English.

Best thing would be that you find out what country your device is from, the booklets should give you that info...
I think that you have bought a device that had a English rom installed by the seller and he did the right localization for it. Now that you did a hard reset everything went back to the original rom setup.
This will be no problem when you find out where your device is from.
Does it have a carrier branding?
Ok it looks like the manuals are in Swedish Language... Viktig Information is written on the main manual.
Also
Sweden address on the back of one of than manuals
