MR Handfree Pro - anyway to make a connector?? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

I have a MR handsfree Pro in my car, and its been pretty good. Anyway - I doubt they will make a connector for the HTC Wizard - would love to be proved wrong of course - so was wondering if anyone knows if you can make a connector?
Thanks
Scott

I don't have a Wizard yet so this is only going by the photos but I think the older Mtotorola/Panasonic adaptor would work. The type that used to fit the Moto V66 and Panasonic GD87 and similar phones.
The type that are just a 2.5mm jack, I think this is what the Wizard has and should work no probs.

Seems the connection is a mini USb. Anyone know if any of the Mr Handfree Pro connectors are also mini USB?

Accessories list for the XDA Exec, with links to good deals

Hi all, just a quick question does the Xda exec have a cradle for it or is it USB cable connection for active sync only :?:
tia
No cradle yet from O2, although there's one on the Expansys website that'll be available in November: http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=126238&asource=127219
It's the car kit I'm waiting for. Now that I have a PDA that sits happily on the desk like an open laptop, a USB lead is fine for me I think.
See docking station here: http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/7862.htm
hope the keep that price range ....

otherwise accessories would drain my pockets easily )))
Pretty reasonable price for the cradle though, normally they start off at £30+

well, www.arkon.com do some Universal mounts (nb. Universal as in one-size-fits-all). I'm using the CM520 (I think - I'll check tonight) which I bought for my old ipaq 4150. It has 2 USB power connections on the bottom and a 3.5" speaker jack, with a speaker in the back. I have a usb to 4150 cable for it but I've just swapped with the usual USB cable that the XDA Exec comes with and it holds it pretty well. I'm a little tempted to add some velcro or something since the XDA Exec is quite porky, but I'll see how it goes for now. I don't know about handsfree though as it's not designed for it. I currently use a Jabra headset for the phone, Tomtom and a bluetooth gps for the satnav - this keeps everything charged and happy. I might get a bluetooth car stereo for the handsfree instead of the Jabra as it does chafe a bit during long journeys...
Does anyone know of any decent cases for the HTC Universal? I've seen a few at PDAir and Proporta, but I'm not 100% happy with them as I'd have to take the phone out of the case before putting it on the cradle.

Qtek 2020 headphone connector broken :(

Hello all,
My Qtek 2020 (Himalaya PH10B) fell on the floor with the headphones on, and the mini-jack for connector for the headphones broke inside it.
I successfully opened it, and I was able to see the damages. I can see only 6 pins that connected the mini-jack plug to the main board, and it seems that there could be a seventh that got broken...
Would anyone of you know of a closeup picture of this headset plug/connector ? Do you know if it is possible to find a new one ? If not, mine looks reparable still, but I would feel reassured if I knew the exact connection here
Thank you in advance for your help.
Cheers
Thomas

Thank you for your answer Rudegar,
I re-soldered the connector, and I realized that a pin was indeed missing. I actually found it freely moving inside the PDA, but I could not solder it back to the connector. The results ? Well, it still does not work, unfortunately... With the headset on, it is mainly okay (there is still a little contact problem) but *withou* the headset, it still has no sound...
So :
1) Can I find this connector somewhere ?
2) Is there a way to tell the PDA not to check for the headset, and use the main speaker all the time ?
3) Would it change anything if I bought a blutooth headset ?
Thank you in advance !
Cheers

1.) i doubt it would be a cheap option if htc had a special connector made just for their phones so i'd asume they use some sort of std component
and maybe there even is a partNr og serial on the connector
which could be used to find a replacement in R&S catalog
http://www.rs-components.com/index.html
2.) no pretty sure the switch between headset and internal speaker is don in hardware and software cant control it
3.) no with bluetooth headset you just dont use the audio connector which mean it would be empty and you'd have no sound on the pda
but it would prob solve poor contact issue of your current headset
Thank you Rudegar !
I am going to re-open it and check if I can find any serial # on the component. It looks like it is my best option. Obviously, if I find something, I will post it on that forum, so that other people can know...
Thanks again !

connection - non bluetooth question/search for leads

bear with me on this one while I try to explain...
I have an o2 XDA Exec that has tomtom 6 on it
I want to use the phone/sat nav, while on my bike
I have got a Starcom Advance - http://www.starcom1.com/ that is all working on the bike
Now, I do not want to use bluetooth if I can avoid it....
The starcom has a seperate connector for the phone and for satnav. (Both 3.5mm jacks)
I think that if I can find a 3.5 mm double male lead then I am hoping I can just plug it into the xda and the starcom - but what lead do I need? (Needs to allow the microphone to work btw)
I am hoping that some kind person knows what lead is needed so I can source one from maplins etc.... or that it just will not work!
I have the same problem! I use the Intraride system, but it's exactly the same set-up as the StarCom (used to have one) The solution I found was something like the Ericsson bluetooth handsfrees. They come with a detachable earpiece, so you can connect the units to the intercom using the phonelead that should have been supplied in the intercoms box.
First option is the HBH-20, there is one on ebay now for next to nothing.
HBH-20 Ebay Clicky
I then tried the HBH-200, which is similar, but includes a CallerID function. Nothing on ebay, but here is a link so you can see what I mean:
Clicky
Both devices are the size of a box of matches, so no troubles there! What I did find is that both units can be querky with the bluetooth connection, (down to the phone not the handsfree and this was on the OE o2 ROM, and one of the cooked WM6 versions) and also the volume was a bit quiet. Solution I've gone with now, is to swap my SIM into a normal phone (Nokia 6310i and universal adapter) and just plug that in. I also had good results with the Motorola V50 which has a 2.5mm connection that will just plug straight in.
Hope you find something that works for you! Although if anyone knows of an adapter to allow normal 2.5mm handsfrees to be connected to the 3.5mm socket on the universal...I'd love to know too! I have already looked at the adapters from Expansys, but these only allow PC type headsets to be connected (ie those with a separate 3.5mm headset and earphone lead)

Wired Remotes W100 & E100: compatible with Kaiser?

Hi,
I can't stand the terrific sound produced by the boxed headphones and while looking for a miniUSB - 3.5mm adapter I found 2 HTC branded wired remotes that look good: W100 & E100:
E100: http://www.expansys.fr/htc/p_htc_item.aspx?i=150195
W100: http://www.expansys.fr/htc/p_htc_item.aspx?i=148543
These require a driver to be installed on the device (for controlling play/pause and call functions). On many sites, descriptions for both are identical.... and it's hard to know whether any of these actually work with the Kaiser as pointed by some users:
http://www.expansys.fr/r.aspx?i=148542&r=4930
Seems HTC is refusing any form of customer support as soon as you have a rebranded device, bad..
Can anyone confirm either the W100 or E100 works? hoping that not a matter or ROM (I'm the proud owner of a French Vodafone branded Kaiser)
Thanks
I don't know if anything about the remotes is ROM-specific, but I have the E100 that I use with MY AT&T-branded Tilt, and it works very, very well. I did not have to install a driver.
Also, the two remotes are identical - the only difference is color.
I hope this helps a little, even though your phone has a different ROM than mine.
Regards,
Hal
Great - thanks a lot, I'll go for it then! - can't wait to get this remote and hear how good this sounds combined with my audiotechnica ANC headphones !
Cheers,

Does USBExt port still do sound?

Found an answer earlier, but it wasnt definitive and seemed to be from before anybody actually had an HD.
With the addition of the 3.5mm headphone socket, does the USBExt socket still do sound/microphone as well? It seems to still be the 11pin single beveled edge socket?
If it doesnt, it mucks up a lot of wired carkits, and might actually keep me on my Hermes for a while longer as i have music, calls/mic and power all wired to one cable which is far neater than using two cables as i'd have to do with the HD
Many thanks
Anybody? Somebody must have tried an old USBExt headphone set?

As it's shown here, the HTC Touch HD (NL Edition but the WWE edition should have the same) is capable to send sound over the MiniUSB port.
My understanding was that no sound was sent to the USBExt socket.

Nothing is shown there except for a headset - So by all means, does this run with your HD - have you tested it?
I´ve tested, as many before me, the Diamond headset on my HD and it´doesn´t work. A pop-up will tell you so if you try.
So the question remains if HTC really cut the wire or simply redirected the audio via command in firmware.
If demo1987 is right, it should work somhow on any HD with at least a tweaked ROM.
No, it does not work. I tried it with a HTC headset from my Artemis.
