Activesync 4.0 / 4.1 and the Wizard - no go on the sync side - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Help!
My spiffy new Wizard is not playing when it comes to the the syncing side of things...
I have Office 2003, and have been using async 4.0 with my WM5 blue angel quite happily. All works.
I installed ActiveSync 4.0 from the CD that came with the wizard, and then plugged in the wizard. "Retrieving settings..." comes up, and then nothing happens. I've left it for half an hour - no luck.
The communication seems fine, as I can explore "my mobile device" and that works well, but sync is no joy at all
I tried syncing over IR, and got told that error 85010014 had occurred. Googling shows I'm not alone.
I upgraded to 4.1. No joy.
I removed outlook and reinstalled. No joy.
I installed Office 2003 SP2. no joy.
Deleted partnerships from both devices. No joy.
Hard reset the wizard. No joy.
Changed my profile to not use cached mode. No joy.
I am a bit frustrated with this - any further suggestions? My only thoughts are that the firewall is blocking activesync's requests to the exchange server when it starts up the comms, but on the other hand the blue angel is happy! Help! please?

Hi Chiark,
I don't have another WM5 device to compare with, but my Wizard won't sync to Outlook on my laptop as long as Sygate Personal Firewall is loaded. If I exit SPF until the first sync happens I can then reload SPF and it keeps sync'ing away without a problem. If I set SPF to 'Allow All' it still won't work. The MS help pages mention what ports to open, but also mention problems with VPN clients that work in the same way, wedging themselves into the protocol stack.
I'd try disabling the firewall to see if it helps... On my work laptop with McAfee desktop firewall I can't adjust anything, but sync'ing over IR works fine. On my own, notes don't appear to sync, giving a similar error to yours, but I did read that another Thunderbird user fixed that by making Outlook the default mail client again.
Hope that helps..
Dox
(ocassionally of the ICE forum too ;-) )

Yeah, I have the same problem. Can't sync with the usb but can sync with IR. I tried closing Sygate FW but that didn't help any. I use Thunderbird as my mail client so always get a message saying that outlook is not my default mail client...blah blah. I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but then why would it work over IR?
I am guessing something is messed up with the usb driver or something.

Thanks for the support
It's all pointing to an error with the outlook side of things, as I still can't sync over IR either, but I can explore the device quite happily.
I've run scanpst on all my pst files, no joy .

Try here, Microsoft have posted some clues
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/help/activesync/default.mspx

thanks for that - I tried those. The best resource I've found is Chris De Herrera's troubleshooting; http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/activesync/tshoot-as4x.htm
In desperation, I've done everything again this morning.
I was assuming that setting my firewall to "Allow all traffic" would, bizarrely, allow all traffic. It wasn't.
I couldn't disable the firewall; I had to uninstall it.
It's now working, but hellishly slowly.
Why the Blue Angel will sync and this wont is beyond me!
Cheers,
Nick.

Well, sygate has had to go back on due to corporate policy... No joy. But the blueangel syncs.
ARGGGHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I installed AS4.x, one of the .dll's was called something like 802AFUSB.dll (from memory, so ICBW), which makes me think MS are running "Ethernet" over USB which suddenly brings activesync under the jurisdiction of our firewalls. I don't know if that's just done in firmware on "upgraded" devices, or maybe there's some hardware changes in native WM5 devices, that kick in the ethernet over USB that you don't get on upgraded or pre WM5 devices?
Do you need AS4 to sync the BA under WM5 Nick?
Dox

Hiya Dox, it's definitely firewall related IMHO, but I'll be stuffed if I can see what's wrong: the firewall isn't blocking any traffic, I've opened every port I can see, and it's still not working correctly.
the blue angel syncs using the same mechanism, over TCP/IP connection via USB, and does so without a problem.
Code:
Creating new partnership for device 0x0 (WM_Wizrard, PocketPC).
11/15/2005 11:28:48.342 p(356) t(2052) TraceToFile -> ERROR in CConfigMgr::GetConfig : hr = 0x80072746 - cfgmgr.cpp(318)

11/15/2005 12:51:44.361 **** ActiveSync exiting
Funny that crapi is causing the problem... Googling that number shows that it could be related to MSN or WM10, neither of which are present on the blue angel. I might install MSN on the host to see if that helps, but I can't see how it would.
I also think it might be to do with outlook running in cached mode as I changed that setting when I removed the firewall. Damn and blast!
Argggh!

Stranger and stranger: if I remove Sygate Security Agent, it works fine... However, corporate IT are rather against me doing this

The MS help docs do mention probs with VPN adapters that slot themselves into the protocol stack to do packet redirection. I only use SPF rather than the security agent but I guess it slots itself into the protocol stack to watch for apps attempting to use the network interfaces above it in the stack. I wonder if it's a software compatibility rahter than security policy problem. I'd guess wedging an additional layer into an already complex stack is far from trivial. Maybe MS just assumed everybody would have a nice clean TCP/IP stack with MS Firewall...
Does SSA not have an "exit" option? We did use ZoneLabs Integrity Agent on the work machines, but engineers could get a special profile pushed to them which llowed them to quit the app when they needed to connect to our kit on customer site which scrapped with IA. I only need to exit SPF to get the session started, I can restart it as soon as the sync gets underway and it's okay...
Roll on 4.2 and a fix to all this shenanigans

Thanks for the thoughts Dox. I agree that it's looking like incompatability rather than config, but I can't understand why the blue angel works: it's truly weird!
The "Exit" on SSA is disabled by our system administrators, meaning to get rid of it, I have to uninstall it . There is a "pass all traffic" option which doesn't appear to work.
I'll now secure my laptop with Windows Firewall; our group policy forbids us from turning it on, but I can sort that out.
Cheers!
Nick.

ActiveSync 4.1 with WIN XP Professional SP2

Hi,
Can someone help me? I recently bought iMate JASJAR. I have no trouble to connect with Desktop with ActiveSync 4.1 and WIN XP Home SP2. However, I have troubles to connect with the PC at work running ActiveSync 4.1 and WIN XP Professional SP2. The PC detect USB and Mobile Device but has error message saying not connected probably and may not work properly......
The ActiveSync never get connected. Please help. Thanks.
William
I used to have the same problem, but I discovered, as did others on this forum, that plugging the USB connecter into the Universal while the Universal is off works best.
1. Push the power button on the Universal to turn it off.
2. Connect the USB cable.
3. The Universal turns itself on, and
4. ActiveSync connects and syncs.
HTH!
I think there are issues with firewalls and anti virus applications that also prevent Active Sync from working correctly, maybe that's where your problem lies?
Regards
Take a view your Windows firewall, then, open the exceptions and look about the ActiveSync and fix it.
Hi, Everyone: Thanks for the advise. However, I tried all you mentioned but still not working. My problem is the PC did not recognize the device from USB connection. I did try the windows firewall and make sure the check mark shown on all "ActiveSync" items. But it is still not getting recognized. I have no troubles for Win XP Home Editions w/SP2 at home PC. I am having the same AntiVirus and Internet Security (All from Symantec) on Home and Work PCs.
Please advise.
Thanks.
Wel, Be sure you have the last ActiveSync 4.1 version?
What do you think if you erase the program (in the PC that you have the problem) and install it again.
I had have the same problem and I did the way I share with you. Let me know if it works!
Luck.
Hi
I had same problem.
I fixed it by plugging my ppc into my laptop once that connected i then plugged it back into my main pc and bingo
_^.^_
Hi,
I did reinstall the ActiveSync 4.1. Then, the other finally recognize the device now. However, I have two other problems now:
(1) The Sync did not get completed. I always got Erroe Emssage saying "The ActiveSync encounters problems from desktop. Support Code: 85010014.
(2) Then, I tried to connect to the old machine which I Sync no problem before, now it processing the Sync forever.
It appeared that I cannot really Syn for both machines now.
Please advise.
Try to soft reset your ppc.
Regards,
Arto.
I have been struggling with a similar (perhaps the same) issue which I have just found the fix for.
The environment is Exchange2003 SP2, ISA2004, XP PRO SP2 laptop running Activesync 4.1, Win Mobile 5.0 phone edition PDA (Qtek 9000).
The PDA synchronises with Exchange Activesync Server via a cellular (GPRS) connection no problem.
The problem we had is when the PDA was attached to the laptop via the USB cable (or Bluetooth) - the error we got was " Your account in Microsoft Exchange Server does not have permission to synchronise with your current settings. Contact your Exchange Server Administrator. Support Code 85010001 " which is clearly cobblers because it syncs fine over a GPRS internet link. Also the PDA takes between 2-3 minutes to error out and I have seen some posts in other topics that interprett this delay as a failure.
The above symptoms occur after a hard reset of the PDA and a de-install / re-install of Activesync 4.1 on the Win XP Pro laptop.
The clue to the fix was that another domain user, using the same Win Mobile 5.0 device, and the same Win XP Pro laptop, had no problems via a USB connection and I could not see what was different about their AD / Exchange permissions.
It turns out that new domain users using Win Mob 5.0 PDAs have no problems whereas existing (older) users (possibly those who used PPC 2003) have got something in their domain profile that causes the problem. Solution is to delete the domain profile (a copy first would be wise) and recreate it - bingo problem solved.
Hi, Waltzing:
Thank you very very much about your comments. You are very correct. My case is with Notebook running XP Pro SP2 which I used at work and was connected to iMate PDA2K w/WM 2003 2nd Edition before. I wait for almost 2 hrs to complete the Sync at home computer. I am kind of concern I have to wait so long everytime. Any advise?
Can you tell me how to delete the previous Domain as you indicated in your reply. I try not to hard reset the PDA. I already re-install the ActiveSync 4.1 and it can connected now. However, the Support Code is still there. I tried to Sync individually, but I always have the same problems for Calendar and Contact which are the most critical items for me.
Another issue for Contact. I found that I have several contacts has a lot of info in Note in PC but got truncated to the PDA JASJAR after Sync. Is that normal? Is there anything can be done to keep those lenghty note in the contact?
Please advise the procedures.
I really appreciate.
Thanks.
Hello Williamchu, I have done some more testing and I have to make a correction - I have solved this problem but for me it was NOT a profile issue. It is likely to be to do with your work proxy server.
As I am sure you know - in order for a WM 5.0 device to sync with Exchange Server via a GPRS cellphone connection you have to tell WM 5.0 the Internet URL of the Exchange Server - typically something like mobile.somedomain.com
When you connect your PDA to your PC via a cable - Activesync (on your PC) will search for the Exchange Server via it's name e.g. mobile.somedomain.com - the problem is that, in many local area networks, Activesync cannot resolve mobile.somedomain.com to the IP address of the Exchange server except via a proxy server (in our case an ISA server). This is why Activesync appears to hang - it spends all it's time looking for an Exchange Server it cannot find (I have also seen it throw up sys errors 85020006 and 85010001 at this point).
Connect your PDA to your PC (via a USB cable) after you have logged the PC onto your work domain.
On the PDA go to Start > Settings > Connections > Connections
Under "My Work Network" you will see either "Edit my proxy server" or "Set up my proxy server" depending on wether a work proxy server has been configured or not. You need to know what your proxy server name is and check both check boxes. Your IT guys will tell you what your
proxy server name is.
My apoligies for the bum steer about profiles - I have a complex test environment and changed 2 things simultaneously (without realising it) to try to fix this problem one of which was a new profile - which as it turns out has nothing to do with the problem. I hope this fixeds it for you.
Hi, Waltzing: Thank you for the info. However, what if I did not even select the Exchange Server to start with ActiveSync. I don't need to Sync the server. I just need to Sync the local machine Outlook Personnel Folders not the Public Folders. I skip the setup part when ActiveSync asked me. I still get the same error message.
Another issue, How can I delete files from "Storage Memory", somehow, it is 97% full. I installed most of the program in Storage Card which I have 4GB and I have plenty room left. I don't know why the "Storage Memory" got so full. After I uninstall some programs, I only free up Program Memory but not the Storage Memory. Any idea?
Do you have any idea about the Contact Note got truncated?
Thank you for all your kindness and advise.

Activesync 4.1 and Norton AV 2006 not compatable?

I upgraded from NAV 2003 to NAV 2006 and am unable to get activesync 4.1 to work. I get the error code 85010014.
Symantec has been no help. I disable autoprotect and zone alarm and still not sync.
Has anyone been able to get Norton antivirus and activesync 4.1 to work together.
Yes, I have tried search and I do not see a solution unique to NAV 2006
Larry
Try disconnecting the device and restarting the pc. Only connect your device to the pc after you've logged on. That should work, as I ran into a similar problem on my work computer. Good luck.
JB
The best Solution: Don't use Norton or any other Symantec Product, it's trash and trashes your PC... Try the best: Kaspersky
I tried deleting partnerships, disabling nav and zone alarm, restarting computer but i still get the 85010014 error.
Norton worked before i upgraded.
Any more suggestions.

I used to get the problem in TuMa 1.4 (Blueangel rom). Flashed back to 1.3 and it seems to work properly.
Try flashing another rom, what device are you using?

Well, here's the actual description of your error
0x85010014
ActiveSync encountered a problem on the server.
Exchange Server reported an internal error. This condition is generally temporary. Try to sync again later. However, if the problem persists, you may need to contact an administrator.

I had similar problems with Macfee AV. I got a solution from some great person on this forum that the native win xp sp2 firewall gets messed up with the AV software and just prevents the sync even if you have Activesync in your exceptions list. I tried disabling the windows xp firewall and to my surprise the sync worked perfectly fine.
Not a good solution, but worth giving it a try. I will try to get somemore details on what can be done about this soon.

This is what finally worked for me. It comes from another forum.
Although Norton denied that NAV 2006 had a script blocker, it was in my registry. How it got there, i don't know. Activesync worked for me with NAV 2003.
The following from a MS Forum fixed it for me: -
ActiveSync is failing to open the Outlook Object Model. There are typically
two common failures here. The first one is if the MAPI.dll was replaced by
an install of another application. The second is a virus blocking program.
Some Anit-Virus software doesn’t properly clean it’s self after uninstall,
to manually fix this up, please follow the following steps.
a. On the desktop, click Start->Run
b. In the “Run” dialog, type “regedit”
c. This will launch the Windows Registry Editor
d. In the Treeview in the left pane, navigate to the following
registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{0006F03A-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}
i. Once you’ve opened the CLSID
note if you type “{0006F03A” it should take you to the right entry
e. Expand the GUID node
f. Click on “InprocServer32″ under the GUID node
g. You will see a value set in the “Data” field of the “(Default)”
h. This value should guide you to what application has installed the
script blocking. For example, Norton AntiVirus puts in an entry like this:
“C:\\Program Files\\Common Files\\Symantec Shared\\Script
Blocking\\ScrBlock.dll”
i. If the AntiVirus program in question is still
installed, disable Script blocking in that software
j. If the AntiVirus program in question is *not* installed, or the
user cannot figure out how to disable script blocking, delete the entry
i.
Right-click the “(Default)” value name in the right-hand pane
ii. Select
“Delete” from the context menu
iii. This
should leave you with a value “(Default)” where the “Data” is set to “(value
not set)”
k. Press the “Sync” button on the ActiveSync app on the desktop and
it should work now
*Note: I don’t take any responsiblity for you editing your Registry. Take relevant backups etc etc as normal!
Here is the link for the above fix and some other options.

O2 XDA Mini S, Active Sync 4.1/4.2 Problem

Hi, I am looking for some help regarding a sync problem I am having with my XDA Mini S. I have recently re-installed my copy of Windows XP Home. Prior to this re-install I was able to sycn with my XDA using activesync 4.1. Since the re-install however when trying to sync I am presented with an error on the desktop machine.
Support Code:86000107
I have trawled the internet to find a solution, but to no avail. I have tried the new 4.2 beta of active sync and tried un-installing the software several times aswell as removing sync profiles form the unit.
Any help would be apreciated. I am using ROM version 2.21.4.1 WWE and Windows Mobile Version 5.0 (Build 14847.2.0.0)
Thanks

Thanks for the reply! I had tried searching the forum first, but my choice of keywords obviously let me down.
I have tried both disabling the firewall and ensuring DHCP is enabled. I am using the windows firewall controlled by Microsoft's Windows OncCare Live, and within which all processes associated with active sync have been granted permission to access the network.
The phone appears to be able to send data to the desktop pc, but the desktop fails for some reason. Any further advice?
thanks
Do you hear the usual "bing bong" type noise that Windows makes when a USB device is plugged in?
Does ActiveSync on the desktop even start up?
If so, on your PC goto Start -> Control Panel -> Network Connections. When you plug the PDA in, does a new connection profile eventually show up in the Network Connections window? It will be called something like Local Connection #6 or something similar, I've renamed mine.
Yes everything connects and establishes a connection. I can browse the device and even upload to and from it. Active sync even tries to sync with the device, but then shows the error detailed above. The XDA was able to upload my contacts to outlook for example after the re-install of windows, but nothing is synced from the desktop pc to the xda.

See the Microsoft Knowledge base..........
............there's something I remember when I had this prob.
For me, it was ZoneAlarm firewall [free edition] which doesn't allow individual ports to be configured, just application rules [you can in Pro version] but in my research, I remember seeing something about Activesync not working even though the exception was set in Windows Firewall.
Try with NO firewall at all - probably best to pull your network cable if you're worried whilst you test ActiveSync with no firewall at all.
I'm sorry I can't post the reference but you should be able to find it again.
I now don't use any s/w firewall - I have a switch router with hardware router built in which shows as 'stealthed' to the outside world on all ports @ www.grc.com [ShieldsUp] and all my WM5 stuff works - ActiveSync and WiFi
I didn't get the error you did, mine just connected then hung whilst showing 'Syncronising'............'cept it never did !!! LOL but I could do all the other things as you describe....just no syncing.
Thanks for the reply. I have already tried without a firewall enabled at all but with no luck. I am trying to work out what is different with this installation tot he previous that worked.
I have found that I need to dissable the Sync of my contacts and it works with the Caldener etc. I have no idea why this is, but its the only solution I can find anywhere and its very frustrating.
That's a weird one, not be able to sync contacts but can do calendar events.
Have you tried a reinstall of outlook?
If so then, and this is just a guess, it could be that there is something wrong with a particular contact entry that's causing things to go wrong. Perhaps some invalid characters in any one of the many available fields (name, num, email address, website, notes etc).
Some solutions that worked for me
I had the problem with contacts not syncing when everything else would. My solution, which worked for me, was to:
1. disable 'contacts' in ActivSync options
2. sync as normal
3. disconnect device, reconnect device, sync again
4. re-enable 'contacts' in ActivSync options
5. contacts should now re-sync
Incidentally I found many problems with the ActiveSync partnership after restoring the device from a backup. The solution is to delete everything in the \Windows\ActiveSync folder on the pocket PC, go into ActiveSync options on the pocket pc and remove the partnership there. Finally delete the partnership on your PC.
I am running V-Com systemsuite on my PC (which I think uses the Sygate firewall) this firewall never interferes with my XDA Exec but oddly enough does so with my XDA mini S. If I disable the firewall - problem still exists. If I shut down the firewall completely (keeping Windows XP firewall running for security) the problem goes away.
Maybe some of this will help

I had moved the Outlook.pst file to a location other than the default. When I moved it back and created a new profile the error had gone. thanks for the help everyone.
Sounds like it was a corrupt pst file causing the problem then. I'm glad you got it all working now

First of all you have to open some ports in the sygate firewall: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/help/activesync/sygate.mspx
In my experience it's necessary to change the RNDIS driver settings in the mobile phones registry as well!
Use a regedit tool like PHM Registry Editor.
Here are the settings to be added (or to be changed respectively):
Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\USB\FunctionDrivers\RNDIS
Name of the Value to add: MTU
Type : DWORD
Data: 1514 (Value is Decimal)
Name of Value to add: MaxOutTransfer
Type: DWORD
Data: 1642 (Value is Decimal)
After a reset my Prophet (XDA Neo) synchronized well with active sygate firewall!

I'm dying here: Activecrap Problems

I had summiter's rom on and for some odd reason my sync died on two toshiba laptops. One is as a guest the other for outlook and all. So I did a new ROM install of the new cingular ROM and still nothing. It goes throught the motions when installing 4.1 (even tried 4.2). It bypasses the setup screen says connected under guest and then a box comes up and say it cannot be completed, reconnect your device. I have read Chris De Herrera recommendations and have installed all ports and activesync managers AND TURNED ON ALL SERVICES.Connected to a usb port. I have been using PPC's for years and never had a problem like this.
PLEASE HELP ME I'M PATHETIC!
Have you tried disabling your firewalls and antiviral? - thats what worked for me = it was one of the firewalls.
I have a similar problem that I've narrowed down to Activesync not playing well with an integrity client.
I have the Cisco VPN client which works with an integrity client to check that my laptop is up-to-date with antivirus definitions etc. Uninstalling the integrity client allows Activesync to synchronise, but reinstall it and Activesync just stays in the 'connecting' phase.
Since I have to work quite a lot from out of the office, I need the VPN client working, so I just synchronise the Wizard via IR, which is a bit of a pain, but it gets the job done in the end. I hope in the future there's a fix for this.
I've had probs with Activesync. Try this, go into the connections tab in Windows and look for a new "local Area Connection" if you hover over them they will say which network card they belong to. The one you want is Windows Mobile Device.
Go into it, then properties. Once in properlies, make sure there is a tick in the TCP/IP box.
Then go into properties again and make sure Obtain IP Address and Obtain DNS Server automatically are both checked. The click OK, and OK again to come out of it.
With your device unplugged, go to the task manager and clear all running progs. Then in activesync on your laptop clear all the activesync devices with FILE > Delete partnership.
Then try connecting.
Hope This Helps
I've had the same problems with a O2 XDA Mini S and active sync 4.0, 4.1 and 4.2! I think I have found what was causing mine to fail - I had already disabled firewalls, AV etc with no sucess.
Check the network settings to ensure that the Windows Mobile Device adapter is set to obtain an address automatically.
THEN - you need to ensure that the DHCP service is running on your PC - My machine has a static IP on its LAN interface so the service was not running. Go to Start > Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > Administrative Tools > Services.
Look for the DHCP service - if it is set to Manual then right click > Properties and set Startup Type to Automatic.
Then right click on the service again and click on start - if your device is plugged in then you should hear it connect....
Hope this helps,
Andy.

Nexus & Exchange email

Morning - looks like I am one of the few in the Uk to have got my Nexus - arrived yesterday morning complete with engraving on the back.
As an aside the DHL tracking on the web still shows as only "shipment details received"!
The reason for my post is getting email from my Exchange server - it all works fine with my iPhone and Hero, but when ever I try to connect with the Nexus I keep getting "Setup could not finish - Unable to open connection to the server"
I have tried Touchdown and it is also upable to get the activesync profile from my server! gets a Error 500:
Is there something simple I am missing? I am able to browse the wen and get my gmail on the device but no exchange!
Any help would be great
Thanks
John
I have been able to use both the Android mail connection & Touchdown to connect to my hosted Exchange server (2007) using SSL, I guess as you have connected from other devices you must know the settings of the server.
Are you connecting via Wifi or 3G ?
Shouldn't make a difference, but which carrier are you on & did you get the 3G correct ?
Can you connect to the server on OWA via the browser ?
Good luck
Working fine for me, have you tried playing around with the settings? E.g. mine doesn't work unless I've checked the SLL box (but not the accept SLL certificates box), and make sure you precede the username with domain\
tried on both 3g and wifi - both no joy
just been looking for roadsync on the market and I don't appear to have any paid apps either...
been using an O2 sim just putting my orange sim to see if it makes a difference but doubt it will as wifi doesn't work...
stumpted!
I originally had a problem connecting with the native activesync with a similar error, however touchdown worked fine. I would try touchdown quick config and see if it can figure it out. You also might need to look at the certificate options under touchdown. Forcing that might help.
I have tried again with Touchdown - and managed to capture these results from the log:
I have reset my hero and reconnected to my exchange server and it connects fine...
I have called HTC to arrange a hardware replacement but the guy on the phone didn't seem to know what he was doing.

How did you capture the log from Touchdown?
I'm using Touchdown here as well and have no issues to speak of. From what it looks like it might be something server-side?
Quick connect in touchdown captures the log as it tries to connect.
I agree it all points towards a server issue, but what is different between the nexus and the hero? I have reset my hero and reconnected with the standard android active sync connnector and it works fine. I use a neuxs with the exact same settings on either touchdown or the android connector and it fails!
It is driving me mad - I have synced my outlook contacts with my gmail account so I at least have numbers etc. but without email this phone is going to end up on ebay real fast
John
Not sure, but have you set the simple password in Touchdown? It looks like that is a required policy and if touchdown doesn't report back that it is set you won't be able to configure.
because the hero doesn't support the simple pin I got my exchange admin to remove this requirement for me
An even bigger thing for me was the lack of Exchange Calendar Sync on the N1. Seems a terrible omission when the Droid/Milestone supports it without trouble.
