gsm reception power on qtek 9100 vs 2020i - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

did somebody test qtek 9100 gsm ? the qtek 2020i reception is very good , it works where signal was very poor (1 or 2 heels signal power), the 9100 is the same?

I don't know about the 202 but i have the k-jam and it's just as good if not a little better than my jam if that helps!

i need to know if it work with gsm signal very poor and not costant , my home is in this situation and i need to solve this problem with my next gsm (now i have a siemens me45 and it not satisfact me on this aspect),
do k-jam work very fine as cellular?

I just got my KJAM and the signal is not as good as my old PocketPC Phone. Also, I can get no signal in one room of the house and then lan hour later 2 bars in the same room...Weird...
The KJAM works well as a phone whereas my old PocketPC was crappy at best.

RSU upgrades for Qtek 1010

I have upgraded to PPC2003 v 4.00.01 ENG from FTP..lycos.uk...and am very happy with the speed of the Qtek that has greatly improved. I have radio V. 3.19.01 that did not change with the upgrade ..Is there a better version of the Radio Stack?
If so where is the link? I use Qtek 1010 in Oman. ME
Ravi Radh
Hi,
my advice to you if your Radio is working fine with the upgrade dont change it.
Generaly the 3.19.01 was a good Radio version for QTEK when i upgraded to 3.23 i had problems in Lebanon. If ure device is working fine keep it like that.
Hi,
Thanks for the advice @ Arzleb. I think its better to keep it going this way as its difficult to have a stuck QTEK with an improper Radio in it.
Its just that this version of Radio I feel has a falling signal strength!! Could be the OMANTEL GSM network too!!
Its too early to evaluate as I got 3.19.01 ver just a week ago
Thanks
Ravi Radh
Well Ravi i tried every RSU possible on the QTEK in order to track the signal problem which i also have in Lebanon. Currently i am using the o2 4.21 and i can assure u its the same as 3.19 & 3.23.
I think sometimes the signal bars arent always right! i will give an exemple sometimes the bars shows 1 or 0 and i could still receive a call. Dont always trust the bars but also that doesnt mean that the Signal is good and i dont think its the device's fault. U could blame the operator 50% and the device 50%.
Now what is happening with me is that the bars change very fast on the same Cell i mean they drop to 1 then go up to 4 very fast like crazy lights and also in places were the signal on other phones are full on my QTEK is 1 or 2.
Anyways as long as no one is telling you that we are calling you and ure phone is closed i think ure safe.
Salam bro
Hello,
does any one have an executable file with the 3.13 version?
Thx!

Have to restart phone to regain GPRS connetion

I Have to restart phone to regain GPRS connetion every now and then. I have radio version 1.01.00 and rom version 1.03.00 WWE. My provider is Vodafone in sweden.
If I go to flight mode and back to normal then I can connect to GPRS again. Should I uppgrade my I-Mate to get it to work? Any Ideas what to do?
I've heard of people with similar problems, you need to upgrade your Rom, if you wanna stay relatively safe, upgrade to:
Rom Version: 1.72.00WWE
U can get this from club imate
I'm afraid I can´t find the rom on the Imate Club site. But you belive my problem will be solved by uppgrading the rom right? I´ll have to search for it then. ;c) Thanks.
I sure don't see any version 1.72 on Club iMate at JAM Device Support. The latest available upgrade I see is:
Radio 1.01.00
ROM 1.03.143 WWE
Where do you see version 1.72?
Frank
I believe he's referring to the wrong device. 1.72 was for the I-Mate Pocket PC - not the Jam.
Ok. I have posted a case to Imate and they where about to send a file to correct the problem but I got an emty mail.
Imate support don't know what this is. I'm back on the hunt. Anybody else having the same problem with theirs? Please let me know in this thred
Sincere Apologies, I was in fact dreferring to the I-mate....didnt realise this thread was under magician
Got an ansver from Imate. They sent me an PDF file where they showed me how to set up the GPRS connection. The problem is, been there and done that. I’m totally lost here. Is it only me who has this problem with “magican” and Vodafone? (In Sweden). Frustrating! ;c(
Note: With my P800 and the same location and same SIM = no probem at all.
I have the exact same problem with Vodafone gprs in Sweden
Hi Robert
I have the exact same problem with GPRS. I am also a customer of Vodafone in Sweden. I have this problem regardless of the device I am using. I have been running Qtek 2020, 8010, 9090 and S100 (magician) devices with the same problem for quite a while now.
I have started to think that this is not a device problem. It is probably a problem with Vodafone GPRS. I have contacted their tech support a couple of times about this. So far we have tried disabling/reenabling GPRS on my account and switching to new Sim-cards. None of this has worked so far.
I am using their twin cards service switching between different phones, I am not sure if this has anything to do with the problem.
best regards
Christofer
Thanks a lot for giving me this feedback. I'll talk to Vodafone right away.
Solution: I know that Telia supports the magican device because they have them for sale. My solution was to call Telia and tell them that I wanted to use them instead. Its a covards solution but Imate blames Vodafone and Vodafone blames Imate.
I have an old Qtek1010 on Telia, and it is behaving just like your Magician on Vodaphone. Sometimes I have to actually remove the SIM and put it back in again to be able to reconnect.
Another question about the Magician and GPRS. I have read on a couple of forums that the Magician will not keep the GPRS connection alive when in "sleep mode". Is this true? If so I may have to quickly cancel my order...

My gprs connection seems to stay connected ok even when the machine is switched "off". I have an imate jam on o2 in the UK.
I don't know if it stays on forever because i tend to log off gprs so i can go on line through bluetooth.
Simon
This is really bad news. I thought that since Telia do have thoose phones for sale they should have tested them in the net. In that case I should start thinking of going back to my old P800 instead of changing provider.
I Wonder if there are someone in here who it works for in sweden. Please let me know.
I have several collegues who are not experiencing these problems with Qtek devices on Vodafone network. So it does not seem to be a general problem.

I just talked to Telia today as my GPRS broke down totally and there was just nothing that would make it connect. The person I talked to was very helpful and professional and we managed to isolate the problem to my SIM card. Being a brand new SIM I received just two weeks ago I though that just anything but the SIM would be more probable. It was very evident though as my SIM would not work with GPRS in neither mine nor a colleauges phone but the colleauges SIM would work just fine in both.
My new SIM will arrive on monday, and then hopefully it will not be too long before my S100 arrives as well
Ok, thats somewhat god news. Then there is hope to accually use this expensive piece of toy as it is suppose to.
Some input…
I have a Qtek S100 and run it with Telia. Works just fine, never have to reset or remove the SIM. However, I have problem with the GPRS to disconnect when synchronized with my PC and when using the phone. Have heard that an app called GPRS Keep Alive would solve that problem, haven’t tried it yet.

It will not. For two reasons:
1. There can only be one network connection at a time, and the activesync connection counts as a network connection (you can use network passthrough to use the activesync connection for network access from the PPC).
2. You can not have a GSM voice connection and an active GPRS connection simultaneously because they share the same radio hardware. Simultaneous GPRS and Voice would need two radios in the phone, and although it has been part of the GSM specification for quite some time there are no such device available on the consumer market yet.

GPRS always on

Hello everybody,
i just replaced my old MDA 2 with a MDA COMPACT.
I noticed that close to signal level the GPRS icon (squared G) is always on, while in the MDA 2 it was on for only a few seconds after switching on radio (telephone function) and then disappeaed.
Is this normal? I do not use often GPRS function and i was told GPRS makes battery go down faster...
How can i switch GPRS function off in MDA compact?
Thanks in advance

It just shows that you are in a GPRS capable zone, the icon will change when you actually connect GPRS like when you connect the MDA compact to the computer. You can disconnect from GPRS by holding the hang up button for 3 seconds.
walshie
thanks for your quick reply.
I assume then, that the G signal icon was used in a different way by MDA 2 because i never saw it (same provider Voda ita) except when switching on the phone.
I shouldn't been worried then about battery life?
thanks

nah nothing to worry about, its just an indication that you are in a GPRS zone, from memory the XdaIIs shows this icon when you click on the signal strength icon, i think HTC moved it from the signal strength window because the screen on the xda ii mini is not as big and cannot fit as much information as the IIs can.

Qtek S200 without Wifi-G support?

I read the official specs of the Qtek S200, and they suggest it supports 802.11b/g. BUT, ALL the Qtek s200's available here in the czech republic, list their specs as 802.11b ONLY.
Is this possible? Is it a hardware issue, or is there perhaps a way to activate G through a tweak somewhere?
G Wifi Activation.
In attached file, you can find a tweak for making available G Wifi in 9100.
I have a S200 with G Wifi already activated, so I can't tell if it works.
Use at your own risk, but 9100 users say it's perfect.
You have to copy .cab file to your S200 memory, and click on it for install.
Thanks Mondelman
Anyone already tried this out on a Qtek S200?
still wondering
I'm still puzzled whether this is a hardware issue, or a software one? I can't test it on a device. It maybe will make a difference in the use of skype or streaming media, if its limited to B standard.
I cannot understand how could qtek make a g-less model for czech republic.
I have not much experience on the subject (newbie really) but I think I have the same issue (S200 with Dutch OS). Bought the phone in NL and it came with the Dutch OS I took a better look at the box once I got home to see the specs ... 802.11b if you loko on line specs they do mention "g"
I hope that a patch will be available as for the 9100.
btw this was my first posting so Hello to all (great stuff!!)
Makis, have you tried the above patch? Does it work?
I have seen my Prophet connecting at 24mb. Since 802.11b is maximum 11mb, I assume that G is working on the Prophet out of the box. That being said, my laptop connects at 54mb. I'm not complaining because the wifi on my Prophet has done everything that I have asked it to do including VOIP

Yep I've had a similar experience. Got my s200 and on the box it only mentions 802.11b in it's specs. However, I have locked my router so it only transmits 802.11g and my s200 can still access the network ... so the s200 MUST be capable of using 802.11g. I have also noticed an increase in speed accross the network to my s200 allowing me to stream video without buffering that I could before (when I have my router locked on 802.11b). While it's not blistering fast, it is still quicker, so as Matterhorn says it's probably got a max of 24mb rather than 54mb, but hey that's still miles better than 11mb.
I did not try the patch my self I know someone who have though. I ll post again about this tomorrow.
:?
krale as qdabean mentioned above I just tried the same thing -router only on g
Result: still able to access the net from the my s200!! So who needs a patch
qdabean, it is strange though cause I got a reply recently from qtek specifying that router should transmit on bouth b&g in order to get good results... Then again it was the saem person that told me changing the language on the s200 is not possible and the only solution was to return it to the dealer and ask for another version
but who cares "g" works case closed.
Thanks guys
