So far, best deal I have found on Jar Jar is here..Others? - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Basically, everyhwere you go this thing is 650GBP UK, so these guys are selling with a 12 month 02 Contract for either
12x 20 +364 = 600gbp + 100 minutes per month, or
12x35 + 235 =650GBP + 250 minutes per month (not bad) Get 250 minutes & unlocked (Imate) phone. Why not?

Any others see deals like this> T-Mobile in general are the best for this stuff, so let's wait and see what they have to offer.
M

I am waiting for stock at my supplier, should come in the week of September 19th. He can deliver me T-Mobile Netherlands MDA Pro for around 600 pounds UK. Only minus: T-Mobile branding ( just flash a new ROM on it) and a SIM lock. Both should present no problem to the people on this forum, although it took a while before my Compact was SImlock free. But given the interest in this device I think a solution will quickly present itself. If anyone is interested I can see if I can buy some for you guys. Just let me know.

by being patient for a few weeks
o2 will give the xda exec to me for £150.
by talk line rental is £15 per month and data £14.50 a month. thats a saving of £500.
is there any advantage with the jasjar .

Data Data and More Data
Hi
This is a device thats primarily usefull for data. Why on earth is no one bundling a contract with inclusive data? By inclusive data I dont mean 1MB I mean 500MB.
I dont want inclusive minutes, I want inclusive data!

I intend to purchase from O2 with a Data 512 bundle - that'll cost me £40+VAT / month. I'm hoping that'll mean the £150ish price for the handset. Additional voice calls are around 20ppm. I'm currently using an XDA 1 with 100mb data and voice at 50ppm for £15/month.
T mobile will offer it with a "web'n'walk" offer of something like 40mb data, 200 anytime minutes + some SMS package (in case any pre-teens purchase the phone  ) for something like £30ish-£40ish per month. Expect the MDA Pro to be maybe £200 or less.

XDA Exec *cough* sorry, MDA Pro on T Mobile UK

I can upgrade for £399 (inc vat). Told them "no way, I'll go to O2 thanks". They dropped the price instantly to £250 and then to £200 (for an 18 month contract). They'll have a date for me maybe by the end of the week.
For reference and comparison, I'm about 2 months past the end of my 12 month contract of £15+VAT/month for 100mb and expensive voice calls, normal spend is around £25-£30 inc vat.
I'll wait to see what O2's new data tariffs are like, but if T-mobile can maybe do something to decrease my voice call costs then I think I'll go for it
What tarif is that?
All I found in the T-mobile lists is a 100mb a month 3g datacard tarif, but it was £25 a month, voice at 25p a minute.
£15 a month for 100meg is great!!!
I pay 25p a minute on payg for voice anyway, so id love this tarif, but not sure if yours is similar? where did you see it?
Oh, and forget o2 for data. They suck. They are pushing the blackberry thing, and its like £15 a month for 5meg. Extra data bundles cost a fortune and ive never had a consistant answer on what is included, and what does what, if its full internet access or wap or whatever.
When is the universal due out with our uk carriers?End of the month?
I'm on the old version of that tariff - T Mobile Communication Center (sic) GPRS card at £15+VAT for 100mb and then 50ppm for voice. I bought from http://www.directmobilephones.com
On the downside, if you go over your 100mb, they sting you at £7.50/mb. Ouch.
On the other hand, I'm sure they have billing problems and I reckon I transfer around 40mb/month, not the 25mb on my bill. Or maybe Onspeed is doing a greater job than I thought 8)
O2 do some OK data tariffs - Data 36 at £14.50 and data 512 at £40 (both + VAT iirc) seem like fairly good deals to me, particularly as voice calls are only 25p (inc vat) on that deal.
ps - if anyone wants to try onspeed, please pm me for an affiliate code.
jay,
1st October: T Mobile - source - recent, "off the record" T mobile manager
3rd October: O2 - source - recent, on the record O2
28th October: Vodafone - source - not too recent, on the record vodafone manager
Uknown probably towards the end of October: Orange - source, nothing more than sales droids
Probably never: Three - source, wild speculation
Cheers for that.If it were to come out on three you'd probably get it for a fiver with free mb forever!Shame everyone else is such a rip off!
If it were to come out on THREE youd be wasting your time as they still dont offer a data service yet!
Correct me if im wrong, but youd want proper internet on your Universal not just the crappy THREE walled garden filled with Manure from THREE.
At risk of straying off topic, Three now offer proper internet access for £45 inc vat (for 512mb iirc). So, based on my current usage of 40ish mb and 30 minutes:
T mobile, 100mb, 30 minutes peak all networks
£30 per month x 12 = £360 + £250 for the handset = £610
O2, using say 40mb + 30 minutes
£27 x 12 + £229 for the handset = £553
I could take out a new contract with T mobile, based on http://www.scancom.co.uk/ on ufix with
ufix 15
£15 x 12 + £305 = £485
My mistake on the THREE data, I didnt know they finally had it. Its a bit much for me though!
a 256meg for £20 would do me. Even 128meg for £10 now thats what we want!
Do you know if the £2.50 for 5meg is restricted at all? it seems strange, but id like to try that first before plonking down £45 quid a month
The "wireless web" £2.50 option does not give full http access - but it does cover a lot of popular websites: most of the bbc, ebay.com (but not .co.uk  ) and quite a few others. But
1) 5mb is nothing :?
2) Once you've used it, you can't have anymore until next month, not even for more money
3) Erm, can't VPN on it
just a question ..
I'm french and living currently in uk - was a student and get a nice IT job. So from my pay as you go card I though getting THE exec or whatever name will the cheaper give to it
-> I really think to use VOIP over GPRS ..
Is skype usable with it ?
What the cost such solution ? (only the data on the carrier)
Could the carrier block or put on the contract a restriction on the VOIP ? (From what I get from my friends in France Orange(FR) and some other do)
Same question for IM (aim/msn/icq/jabber) VS SMS
was looking for some comparison on the web to get roughly an idea but didn't get something serious enough.
Q> Is skype usable with it ?
A> No, not the voice part anyway. IM, yes.
Q>What the cost such solution ? (only the data on the carrier) depends on network, but for non-bundle gprs its from £2 per meg to £8 per meg
Q> Could the carrier block or put on the contract a restriction on the VOIP ?
A> Yes, they do block things randomly and not tell you.
Q> Same question for IM (aim/msn/icq/jabber) VS SMS
A> O2 Pay as you go DOES NOT allow anything other than wap and http, all IM and email is blocked. I do not know about other carriers, but ive heard tmobile blocks email too.
Forget Pay as you go for Data, its expensive and slow gprs. You want to use a 3G link to make the most of the universal, so get a vodafone/orange/tmobile datacard tarif with bundled data. I think T-mobile let you make calls at 25p a minute on top of the data bundle, dont know about voice on the others though.
Hope this helps.
o2 isnt 2 bad for gprs i got 50mb for 4 pounds uk and 750 mintes and 150 txt for 25 pounds uk on o2 uk but that was a sim only deal as was going to go for vodaphone quite good really hope they can o somthing for the exec when it comes out
about the IM, I got a Jabber account on a server that get https...
For those who don't know jabber is an open source IM solution and it's not centralised (understand you can build your own server at home and communicate with all the other jabber server in the world - a bit like the mail) The beauty of jabber is the gateways I got AIM/ICQ/YAHOO/IRC/MSN gateway to be able to speak with other protocoles..
So .. I'll chat
it's quite a shame that they block randomly ports or whatever without telling you. I'll explicity ask them and list the price.
please do ask them too; normally 3g is far enough for skype (skype needs 3-5kbps)
Just spoken to T Mobile again - the chap on the end of the phone told me the same £200 and I said "well, I can get an XDA Exec for that on a much better tariff". So they halved it to £100 or free if I go for an 18 month contract. Bargain
That's a £15 + VAT/month tariff, typical spend under £30. They'll call me back as soon as they have a date. I'm hoping that date will be 1st October
"please do ask them too; normally 3g is far enough for skype (skype needs 3-5kbps)"
Id love to hear from anyone who has skype VOICE working on a 3g connection. As far as im aware the latency/ping time etc kill voice over 3g. The total data speed isnt really the issue, its the terrible network!
Id love for it to work, but im pretty sure its IM only and no voice.
Please correct me if you have actual evidence to the contrary

UK Yearly costs per provider for webnwalk200 equivilent

Hi
Have you seen the price of the universal on www.orange.co.uk ?? madness!! £299 on a £30/mnth contract !!! And they are yet another provider that refuse to sell it data-only.
Here are the costs per year for 200 any network mins + 40MB 3G/GPRS data. (aka webnwalk200) + an HTC Universal for each provider. I will consider consumer products only, and it should all be orderable online (as opposed to speaking to a brain-dead dimwit in a call centre).
Orange
£30+~£25 = £55/mnth + £299 for the device. Cost for 1 year: £959
(they dont do 40MB, they do 80MB or £42)
T-Mobile
12x£16 + 6x£35 + £149.99 Cost for 1 year: £551.99
(and you are actually getting 18 months of webnwalk200 rather than 12 months for this)
O2
£30/mnth for the voice mins incl 1MB data, + £8 for 5MB Data + (34x£3) for the remaining 34MB data = £140/mnth. Device is 139.99. Cost for 1 year: £1819.99
To sumarise:
O2: £1899.99
Orange: £959
T-Mobile: £551.99
I suspect vodafone will be just as bad if they ever release the universal!
T-mobile, would then be a clear winner, trouble is that unless you live in one of about 10 cities in the UK then you'll not get any ruddy 3G off of them. I see zero reasons to choose orange (overpriced data and expensive handset). The only reason to choose O2 is if you never intend to use the unit for 3G/GPRS data.
None of the providers have got the tarriffs for flogging data centric devices correct, but T-mobile comes the closest. If they would offer an option to ditch some mins in favour of some text messages then they would have it sorted!!
Nigel
O2 will sell you a Exec on a data only tariff, the basic is £9.40 per month and the Exec can be between £180 and £230 (with and without a trade-in). I know as I have done this.
I assume that was £230+VAT ??
I cant find this online, and whenever I phone up they say, 'you what?, data only, oooh dont know wot that is mate! try our business lot' I phone the business lot and cannot get a more intelegent response from them either.
bunch of dimwits!
The only time I did speak to someone who would do data only, they wanted to charge me £400 quid for the exec. Also, you cannot get data on a consumer contract, only on a business contract. i.e their data 36,75,200 etc products are business products.
Unless you know different?
Nigel
The prices I mentioned include VAT.
You can only get this deal from O2 stores.
There are lots of references to the Data 5 data only tariff if you do a UK google search: you'll even find a reference at the O2 web site.
I think it depends on how informed the staff in the local store are!! Certainly, they know nothing about it in my local branch! I will re-myther them. Data 5 aint gonna be a whole lot of use tho! I tried to get data200 beforehand.
Why on earth you cant get these online like you can with everyone else I will never know.
Nigel
depends on what you want , if you want an unlocked black version
with either a mainly data ( shop) or mainly voice ( online) tariff then o2 do seem better
If you want a combined ( mid say 200mb) data and voice tariff , T Mobile seem competitive on standard tariff versions, but a trip to the o2 shops might also get you a low voivce and mid data tariff with a reasonable handset price combination
It depends on the tariff and the deal you get.
I got an M5000 added to a business tariff. The phone was about £200 plus cashback of £100 and with another £50 cashback for giving them an old phone (a moto movistar).
Granted, theres the ongoing business cost, but if you get someone in the shop who knows what they're talking about, you can get quite a lot off the price.
But I'll give you ... theres no sensible data tariffs in the UK. The best I've seen is £1 per day GPRS which you can only get on PAYG. Dual sims a go-go.

Touch HD on Orange

Hi all,
After trawling around the web to help me make the decision on whether or not to get the touch HD...or an iPhone, I've finally got a Touch HD through Orange upgrades. Getting 400mins, unltd texts, 500mb data for £22.50 per month. Had to pay £100 for the handset though! My phone is getting delivered on Monday, and I've heard a lot about tweaks for the device, where do I find these? Which ones would seasoned users of the HD recommend installing?
you got two choices
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=463783
or for a better way of doing it, but have a good read first because you can screw things up if you do it wrong.
First point of call before you do anything

then head on over to and update your ROM, this contains many of the tweaks and is a fine ROM.

sweet! thanks for the heads up guys
I rung them about a month ago for a package and they were asking for £7.50 for 250MB off-peak!!! - this is a bargain, also took out orange care, never know when I'm going to need it
considering the HD is one of the epensive devices they sell well worth going for that flat rate of £6 a month , now you dont have to worry about it evey 2 minutes
When I upgraded back in November I was told I was getting 500mb of data a month for free, anyway after my second bill arrived I decided to check my usage for the month - I was surprised to see that I had only used 320MB but even more surprised to see that the package was shown as unlimited.
Has anyone else looked at their bill?

The exact description of the data package appears to vary a lot between paperwork/staff/bills. On the phone they describe it as "Unlimited with a 500Mb Fair Usage). But online it's described as a "500Mb limit". Sounds like their billing calls it unlimited.
The impression I get is that £5 for 500Mb is for new contracts only (including upgrades) and you commit to it for the length of the contract. If you add it to an existing contract, it's £7.50 for 250Mb, but you make no commitment and can remove it next month.
Now is an excellent time to be upgrading as, at this time of credit crunch and general economic downturn, retentions departments are desperate to keep customers. By observing that I could get an iPhone, Storm or G1 for free by moving away from Orange, I managed to effectively get the Touch HD for £15.50 on a £20/month contract, including the 500Mb data. Granted I only get 200 mins, but I never use them anyway. I also had to pay £195.95 upfront, but it's offset by £180 airtime credit (meaning I effectively don't pay a bill for the next 8 months or so)
Htc touch hd for only £59.99 !!!
Hi,
I got my Htc Touch Hd only a few days ago , vost only £59.99 , this is the lowest price I have seen on any UK online or shop retailer! I opted for the lowest Orange Contract Racoon 20 , I have to pay £19.57 Every Month.
I'll Probably cancel the contract after 12 months , this is allowed in the terms and conditions of Orange.
The website where I got my phone : http://www.buymobilephones.net/
I have just unlocked it , put a T-mobile chip in it , I had a Mda Vario 2 since 2006 , my contract expired , t-mobile haven't released the MDA VARIO 4 , as this was the phone I wanted , couldn't wait , so I get the Touch Hd.
Anyway , it a great phone , bbc iplayer , even bbc live news works perfectly , only works with opera , the website you need to enter is :www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/iplayer/
Ordered a Touch HD on Orange yesterday - as an Upgrade from my current phone/contract (Nokia E65/Racoon 25).
Speaking to the retentions department I got:
HTC Touch HD on Panther £40 (1200Mins/500Texts/500Mb internet/Unlimited Landline) + £5 Orange Care. The Touch HD I bargained down to £28.50! (yes it's a more expensive monthly package, and 18 months).
Currently Orange are doing an offer for a FREE Touch HD on a £35 montlhy contract (but for 24 months)
dazza9075 - thanks for those links!
Have order mine at £28.50 with a Panther 40 plan + £5 Orange Care. That was an upgrade from the Retentions department.
Dazza - thanks for the links!
RE the Orange plans - the Panther plans have 500Mb data "as standard" now, and the other plans (except the really low cost Racoon plans) have the 500Mb data as a £5 bundle.
Incidentally - if you're not on a contract, or don't mind changing number - they're doing a January sale with a FREE Touch HD on a Dolphin £35 24 month contract.
The people here who have got orange care, Do you intend updating the ROM on your phones?, As this would surely invalidate the care option.
if it does, i would back up the rom, on to a pc, the utility is found somewhere on this forum, its what i'm planning on doing, i'm on orange aswell paying just ova 40quid a month, i'm a new orange customer from 02, 600 mins unltd txts and 500mb data and the orange care, and do orange release rom updates from the htc phones, on the htc website there atest rom was released in dec08, the 1 i hav is Rom 1.19.61.1 date 11/25/08 radio 1.09.25.14, as fellow orange htc HD owners what version of rom are u using.
Edit: the rom is for the asia release ( http://www.htc.com/hk-en/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=179&cat=2&dl_id=453 )

just taken delivery of phone from orange. been with them for ten years managed to get 'limitless' data some texts( never use), free landline calls, 700mins all network, paid £90.00 for phone and then got another 3.50? as loyal customer from the lady in india. First impresions
1 orange can certainly **** up a phone with there own rubish programs.
2 do not like the fact they take of programs.
3 came with micro card 8mb quite good
4 charger is rubbish silly shape in some locations
5 cases from htc getting worse have ordered cyrstal cases off ebat from uk dealer. but i bet it comes from china by post.
6 I have had other htc and atoms so am use to these always replace roms not sure if i will keep 3d flo as it seems slow.
7 please god let microsoft deliver a good operating system for next mobiles.
8 If they do not offer upgrades then they will loose me to apple. I have stuck with microsoft through thick and thin. More thin and I would like to be treated nicely for once.
9 will need to install agenda one as built in contacts still pants. agenda 1 lets you link contacts to diary.
10 bluetooth on this phone easier and clearer than than on atom.
11 does feel big please don,t let me snap it.
12 why are htc accessories not as snazzy as iphones.
Thanks for uploading
Got 400mins, unlimited texts, unlimited web browsing anytime, made sure of this as it is needed with the HD, phone for 48.50 on 18 month contract for £9.79pm, happy with that, just keep badgering them and they have a new computer system which i was lucky enough to get onto.

That's better than my deal! But I got what I need, at least.
100 minutes, 300 texts, unlimited mobile internet, phone for £48.50 and a free bluetooth headset. £10 p/m for 9 months, then £15 p/m for the other 9 months. By the end of it, I've not even paid for the phone, let alone the bluetooth headset!
Took a LOT of convincing to get that, though. "O2 are giving me the phone for free." was my opener. By the end I was all "Any sweeteners? Laptop? iPod? ... Bluetooth?"

HD2 available on Virgin Mobile UK

Just in case you hadn't noticed (well I hadn't anyway!) the HD2 is now available on Virgin Mobile in the UK
http://bit.ly/6tBFFr
The deals seem to blow some of the established ones away
Hardly blown away, to get the free phone you need to sign up for a 2 year tariff and the £35, 18 month tariff isn't much better than what I got from O2. Except I got the phone for less than £2 and they want £20.
Still, some good deals on there, especially if they have good stock levels.
Fair comment. I haven't seen that deal on O2.
It's just that I was about to commit to either a £35 18 month contract or £45 12 month (handsets £free - £90). So £25/m (+£80) seems ok.
But as you say, let's see what the stock levels are like.
this IS the best priced company out there, i ordered mine last night.
18 months, virgin £25, 500 mins, unlimited text and internet to 1gb fair usage, phone cost £80 + £5 postage. with this i got 2 months free so £50 because i am a virgin media customer.
you can get £30 cashback through quidco.com or another cashback site.
even the customer service at tmobile couldn't believe it (when i was getting my PAC) and had to go online to check lol.
25*18 = 450 - 50 = 400 + 85 = 485 for 18 months.
that about the same cost if you took this on vodafone through a third party company (dial-a-phone) but here you can port your number (which i think is an important thing).

You are right. It's the best deal I've seen so far and I haven't seen anything close from anyone else with those minutes and Internet included. Add the 2 months free and cashback and it's an outstanding deal.
Do you have your phone yet? If so can you use Skype on it to chat and talk?
Any issues with it?
Also, did it come with the case and an SD card?
Thanks.
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!
my virgin contract was up this month aswel!
I paid 100ish on a 34/month 12 month contract more than a month ago, including internet. This is way more expensive.

Hardly a reason to say the Virgin offer isn't a good deal - show me where O2 advertise a HD2 for £2 on a £20 per month contract? I'm going to say that you can't because it was a retention offer which they probably only offered you because you spent £30+ the previous 18 months with O2.
To concentrate on getting a 'free' phone also shows your naivety in thinking - no handset is offered for free as they are all subsidised according to how much you are paying over the term of the contract (it's funny how the handset becomes 'free' when the monthly price is £35+ over 18+ months isn't it?).
The Virgin mobile tarrifs are extremely good value in comparison to everyone else especially when you compare the overall costs. Now if someone can find out if they are sim unlocked directly from Virgin this will become a stonking deal.

I don't think it's way more expensive. In fact I think that it will still be cheaper on Virgin.
How many minutes and texts does your deal come with and what network is it on? Is the Internet "unlimited" on that network and could you please let us know how much you actually paid for the phone? £98, £120, £101?
Thanks.
My deal with T-Mobile was
16GB SD -
£25.00 cashback
Free phone
900 Mins / Unlimited txts and internet
18th Month contract.
£35.00 per month
I moved from 3 to T-Mob to get this phone..

Virgin Mobile Tariff (best value/cheapest that I can see):
500 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited internet:
18 months x £25 + £79.99 for handset = £529.99 total cost.
Your tariff:
12 months x £34 + £100-'ish' for handset = £508'ish'
No idea how much 'ish' is and also no idea how many minutes or texts you are getting either for your £508'ish'. Neither can it be said that £22 for 6 extra months usage is 'way more expensive'.
When I was looking for my HD2 I think at the time MobilePhonesDirect were offering the best value for me, can't remember the exact pricing and tariff but overall cost was something in the region of £520 but with only 300 minutes and 200 texts, unlimited data on T-Mobile. That was over a 12 month term I think and also required £102 up front for the handset.
Now considering that the cheapest you're going to get a HD2 outright for is about £450 from Carphonewarehouse (reported by someone, but no idea if it's sim free or not) you can't say that the value of calls/texts/data isn't worth £80? After all, even if you buy the handset outright you've still got to pay for a phone plan of some kind.

Hardly a reason to say the Virgin offer isn't a good deal - show me where O2 advertise a HD2 for £2 on a £20 per month contract?

And show me where I said it wasn't a good deal. Take your time.

To concentrate on getting a 'free' phone also shows your naivety in thinking - no handset is offered for free as they are all subsidised according to how much you are paying over the term of the contract (it's funny how the handset becomes 'free' when the monthly price is £35+ over 18+ months isn't it?).

You're talking to someone who worked for O2 IT for four years, I'm well aware how this works thanks and that phones are subsidised. And I'd wouldn't say I 'concentrated' on anything, merely talked about something that was relevant.
Still, feel free to continue being patronizing, I'm sure you feel a whole lot better for it.
but ....
in case anybody is interested ...
the phone has no sim lock
no branding on it at all
the serial number works on the htc website
all good for me

Thanks, now I'm very interested.
If possible could you let me know what your fastest download rate is when you have good coverage. Also if possible could you test out Skype (if you use it).
Thanks again.

I don't use skype, never felt the urge, i never max my tariff out as is
don't have any any other apps loaded on it yet except for resco explorer and sbp backup.
this is only my 2nd day with it, ordered it online from virgin at about 2:30pm and it was delivered next day by DHL
it was my intention to run the phone "as is" for a while to make sure there are no problems, which means i will not be installing any other software just yet.
if i download any large files files i will try and time it manually if thats any good to you?
any other info you need feel free to ask.
apart from getting used to a (very)sensitive screen compared to my last resistive screen i am still feeling the love for it

Well, you could try and time it manually or you can use the website: http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed
which should allow you to test the download speed.
The only thing is that I'm not to sure about how accurate it is and their servers seem to be in the USA so that's probably not too good.
I was going to ask about the keyboard but it sounds like it's super sensitive, like others I've tried on the HD2. Can you type on it?
Oh, perhaps you could tell me which ROM version you have and if it came with an SD card and a case (not that I normally use one)?
Thanks.
EDIT: Oh, just saw the ROM in your sig. Did it come with that one?
I was really tempted but then realised you cannot downgrade tariffs at anytime. I personally think going via mobilephonesdirect with topchashback and vf maybe the better option.

Perfect!
My T-Mob contract is up in a week, and Virgin was by far the best deal I could find.
Virgin £25pm 18mths + £79.99phone = £529.99
The closest I can get is:
TMob £22.50pm 18ths + £169.99 = £574.99
Virgin give more 300 more minutes and unlimited texts (versus 200), both having unlimited web. I can't find a better deal really. I would perfer O2, but I can't get anywhere near Virgin for mins/txts and phone price. Closest is £20pm + £7.50Web 18mths + £250 phone, making it £745 in total! And you only get 75 minutes!
I was worried about being locked into operator provided updates only (my Diamond was bought from Expansys, so fully unlocked), but this is great news! Thanks!
Quick question: Do I need my PAC code when I order, or can I do it after ordering? I was able to do so when I moved to T-Mob...
I was close to considering...
Tried to coerce O2 into getting near to the Virgin offer but the best they could offer was £35/month 18 month contract, 600 mins, 1000 texts, unlimited wi-fi (after I forced the issue) and unlimited internet with £90 for the phone.
Total cost £720 over the life and although Virgin is £190 cheaper I have broadband with O2 so leaving them would increase my monthly payment by £5 and therefore £90 over the life so Virgin only worked out £100 cheaper for me (though I could've got £30 from Quidco).
£100 is a lot of money but I have no experience of Virgin whereas O2 have always been good to me (and normally very generous with my renewals) and I know I get good reception wherever I need it.
Ordered it around 18.45 and supposedly should receive tomorrow according to the email and text they sent me - weather permitting - though I was told Friday by the guy on the phone.

O2 HD2 price increase wtf!!!

I am ordering my hd2 form o2 next week and just looked on there site to check its in stock and nosited that they have changed the packages they they will do and also put the phone up by £50
why not do what i did and order it through a 3rd party online. you wont have to pay £50 and your billed direct by o2 anyway.......
or get it on virgin, you get more for your money... they use the t-mobile network.

It's worth paying the extra on O2 though virgin/tmobile network is utterly useless compared to O2...
One bad thing about O2 though... their online stock monitoring means bugger-all... you have to call up to find out if they have stock... I ordered mine online and it took them 1 1/2 weeks to get it to me, despite it stating "in stock" on the website when I ordered and throughout the period I was waiting, when their phone staff were telling me it was out of stock with no projected arrival date...
Just check on the website... seems their plans have gone up in price by roughly 5 quid/month... yikes! I got 600 mins/1000 texts/unlimited data for 35/month with 100 for the phone... they're now claiming unlimited texts, but who uses more than 1000 a month?
Ouch! That is a big price rise! I got mine 600 Mins/100Texts/Unlimited Data for £35 with a free phone (upgrading)!
mms
Hi guys, kinda off topic but was wondering if any of you o2 uk users are able to use mms when flashing with a cooked rom...

If you can send and recieve plz could I know what ROM u use
Regards and Thanx

30 a month 24 month contract 600 mins 500 texts. the day before they wanted 100 for the phone on same terms.
haggle em. its well worth it.
posting this from my hd2 now lol. it rocks!
igot mine on virgin £25 a month 500mins 3000 texts 1gb internet usage phone cost £79 and thats on a 18month contract thats £529 over the 18months the phone its self cost about £500 so its a good deal
What Gav said - I got mine from o2 price matched to T-mobile (i think) meant I got the phone for free on an upgrade - £35 a month for 600 mins, too many texts to use and unlimited interweb access.
yes i heard about this, because the are really low on stock in o2 for that phone, i hv ordered mine online 2 months ago and Im on 24 months, 25 pounds a month, 600 + 200 minutes, unlimited text and unlimited data with free phone, but I was upgrading so maybe it is dif than signing on new contract.

which is probably why the price increase, , ,, also to prime the market for a 'sale - price drop on hd2!' in a few months.

Hi.
get the phone sim-free on either the Orange or Vodafone network from zero cost, go here: mobiles.co.uk
With it being sim-free you can get latest ROM+updates from HTC directly. Besides really good offers on at the moment. Have got 3 HD2's from this company NO PROBLEMS with any of the three handsets.
O2 and Vodafone network are messing about with HD2 because of Apple pressure (iphone). Orange is also best network for HSPDA connection.
well... hearing this, I've got quite good upgrade deal dec. last year. £35 per month plus free web bolt on, 18 mths contract and hd2 for about 30 quid.
Virgin also here
£25 month
18 months
500 min
waay too many texts
and 1 gb internet
+ £79 for the phone
Best deal!
mines 24 months
800 mins
unlimted texts
unlimted virgin to virgin
1g of net
30 quid a month
and fone was free
Just upgraded to HD2 today with o2 and got 1200 minutes, unlimited texts, unlimited data (web use) and free o2 to o2 calls for £40 per month on a 24 month contract and the free phone will be delivered Tuesday.
Was going to switch to T-Mobile if they could not give me a good deal as T-Mobile were offering 1200 mins, 500 texts, unlimited data, and an unlimited land-line calls bolt-on, on a 24 month contract with free phone for £35 per month, but unfortunately there coverage is not to good here where I live.
It seems we have all paid way different prices. Mine was £50 for the handset, and then 02 18 mth contract @ £35 a month, for 600mins, 500 text and unlimited data connection.
My turn...(upgrade deal)
O2 small business regular user 24mth contract
300 xnet mins
unltd O2 calls
10 unltd landlines
250 texts
unltd interwebby
free phone upgrade every 12 mths
free HD2
