Activesync via Bluetooth - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

I would like to ask,how can I connect to AS via BT,when I tap to Tools>Connect via BT... it ignores me. It does absolutely nothing. While attempting to connect via IrDA,it starts to connecting. The same thing should do also BT. Once, maybe 1 month ago it worked fine. Since one week ago, when I've changed the Radio stack I couldn't connect. Before was all allright. Any Ideas? Please.

hey bro
since ur running magneto on ur himalaya,it should be easy...
broadcom bluetouth stack ufortunatlydon't run on magneto ,but still M$ blutouth one will synchronize...
now u have to do the following:
1-uninstall every bluetooth software from ur pc(if u have intalled the ones that comes in the cd),restart, put bluetouth into usb,and let winxp sp2 identifies it(remember, only win xp drivers,no softwares).
2-go to control pannel in ur pc/bluetouth devices/com ports, and see wich com port ur blutouth is using, then from the options tab, select the turn discovery on.
3-go to active synchronization 4.0/file/connection settings, disselect allow USB connections, select allow connections to one of the following:,and put the com port u already checked in 2,and put automatic in the window below.u may need to restart ur pc.
4-now,pair ur pc and ur himalaya,u must see that ur PC supports active synchronization, then select/check it.(if u do not see, from ur himalaya, once paired, that ur pc supports active sync and checked it,u will not be able to sync).note that u may also need to restart ur pocket PC.
5-finally,go to ur pocket PC/active synchronization/connect via bluetouth, the port will open....ur now connected.
oh by hte way,the same procedures work if u have 2003se with bluetouth stack by widcom, just don't open active sync on ur himalaya before going to bt stack/bluetouth manger(that's the blue blutouth icon with red star in the buttom of ur screen)/active sync via blutouth(i guess,i don't have SE anymore),u will see ur PC with active sync option, then just synchronize
hope i've helped..

...
Well... All I have with my BT stack at the PC's side is correct. At the PPC side it is also correct adjusted. Now,in the 5th step you wrote:
'...go to ur pocket PC/active synchronization/connect via bluetouth, the port will open....'.
This is the problem: It should open the port,BUT it does absolutely nothing... Just the 'Tools' roll-up menu is disappeared. While trying to connect via IrDA,the port starts to connecting. BUT Bluetooth doesn't it. Why?

hi
have u tried hard reset,if u have and the problem persists, try flashing.....the procedures should work unless there's some kind of problem in ur device(most probably software issue),it should be solved with a hard reset or in the worst a flash...
tell me the news,my friend...i wish i could have helped
RAGO

...
As I wrote in my 1st post:I have reflashed he Radio stack and therefore I have performed a hard-reset. The ROM Image is the same as before when it worked. Don't thing, that the Radio stack is the reason why...

all i can tell u my friend is i was using 2.06 WWE with Radio 1.18 on my MDA2,and my active sync over bluetouth worked like a charm.....
try changing the radio version(though u didn't mention wich version u're using)...
good luck

...
ROM:2.06(Diamond)
Radio:1.18
Well...The Radio version is 1.18,but I have 2 different versions..1st is in the package of Diamond ROM 1.2 and the 2nd one is from the package 2.20CHS Translated. The Chinese is much faster! even they are the same versions.

when i get home,i'm gonna reflash my MDAII,with 2.06(am running on magneto  ),i'm gonna try everything, and tell u what's happening in details  ...
so...later bro
RAGO

????????????
Well!!!!! You are bored at home? It takes a long time after all... Or do you have MDA2 only for experiments? Wau. Allright,as you wish. I will be grateful. If you have a choice, then flash-in the same images as me(ROM 2.06 and Radio from 2.20CHS). Thanx.

Can anyone here!!!!!?
Can anyonew explain how to active sync via BT in XDA2s having a Widcom stack and XP with service pack2.....

Hi Man i have Your same problem with i-mate Jam iam realy need a solve
If You reach it please told Us Thank Youuuuuuuu

Solution
I've found that...
@PC: You need to create an BT serial port in your services(COMx). Then go to the connection settings in AS and check the "Allow connection to one of the following:" option and choose this COMx.
@PPC: Pair your device with PC. You should see the AS service in a list of services of your PC. Enable this option and tap Finish.
Now you should be able to connect via BT.

I had exactly the same problem about a month ago and after trying everything under the sun and nothing working i eventually ended up doing a hard reset,
It fixed it instantly so i restored all my data from a backup and it stopped working straight after the restore,
i hard reset once again and it synced ok, so i then had to reinstall all my programs individually rather than restoring the backup, it was very annoying but i dont think theres any other way around it

1.12.00 WWE ROM, Bluetooth COM Port settings, ActiveSync

Hi all,
I've just recently upgraded to the above ROM- everything else seems to be fine but I've just realised that the 'Settings' for BT are slightly different to my original rom version.
I can pair the JAM fine with the PC but it won't let me connect. As I look at the BT settings, I can see the following tabs: Mode, Devices and COM Ports; it's the COM ports that has changed. It's got New Outgoing Port and New Incoming Port. When i select either of these I can't assign any port number; the drop down list is blank.
P.S. I was able to connect fine via BT using my original ROM v1.00 or something.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks.
hey man
i just posted another querry regarding the card reader ...
hope u read it !!
getting back to yr problem
follow the instructions on this link and yr problem will be solved (HOPEFULLY)
http://howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=544932
I remember reading that link a while ago but I got the BT working without Pocket Tools software...
Anyway, I've tried both versions from the website but after installing either of them, the connect via bluetooth in Tools of ActiveSync is not there; just the IR. As soon as I uninstall the software it's back there.
I thought I had mastered the myth of Jam and Bluetooth- looks like back to square one!
Sorry - I'm just impatient- reinstalled and re-paired a few times and all is fine now.
Thanks for your help.
reinstalled what may i ask? im having this exact problem at the mo
Instructions from the top of my head (excuse any errors)
1) I removed the Pocket Bluetooth tools from remove programs
2) Perform soft reset and remove any existing paired devices
3) Reinstall the Bluetooth Tools (i used the an earlier version)
4) Select ActiveSync check box
5) The device should be paired
6) Go to to ActiveSync on PPC; go to tools and you should see Connect BT with ***
This should work.

reinstalling activsync on ppc

yea this mayb a noob question but,
How do you install activsync again on ppc
i mean i have it on there but it keeps crapping up. sometimes the bluetooth activsync works. sometimes it doesnt work at all. and sometimes it works fine.
i dont wanna have to hard reset.. again! (that ws my problem wen activsyncing via bluetooth) surely there is an easier way!
So is there a download or something for activsync for ppc (XDAII, windows version 2003)
thx in advance
activesync is build into the rom and cant be installed
ok thx... so there is no way? at all? ooo... i spose i cn reinstall it.... o i love my xda2(!)
i have no problems with mine
using bluetooth tools
the latest activesync
sure sometimes when i turn bluetooth on and try to connect
before it's ready it fail but then i just say connect again and it's all good

ActiveStync won;t work

Please help:
AS - simply reports a sync error - thats it nothing else, I have reboot ed mt desktop and latpo several times.
Any ideas??
hi...
don't u think that ur problem needs a little bit more explanation than u offered,like what's ur device(obviously it's a himalaya,but what brand),what's ur OS,what version of AS are u using,what type of synchronization are u trying to establish(bt or USB),what happened,or it's the first time u try synchronizing,etc....!!!!!
plz explain more, then i'll be glad to help...if I can
RAGO
NP:
It's an iMate - it was working yesterday (Connected via USB) - today when connecting it tries to connect then just says 'Syncrhonisation Error' on Activesync main screen. That's it.
Tried a different cradle, and rebooting both DPC and PPC. still the same thing.
It has thre original ROM with WM2003.
Hi icarusbop...
try downloading AS 4.0 from the ftp or buzzdev.net,or even from M$ website, then make sure that "allow USB connection" is selected in "connection settings,it should work smoothly unless u have some hardware issue...
Note that to install AS 4.0 or 4.1,u need a windows XP OS with SP2 on ur desktop/laptop...
Good luck...

For those, who want to connect via BT stack. Yes it is not so clear about the APN,but this will connect via your default internet connection, that you're using on the go(The APN is described there):
1.Pair your Himalaya with a PC.
2.Start the Wireless Modem app.and choose Bluetooth. Then tap to Start button. Your device must be in Discoverable mode!
3.Now in computer click to the 'My Bluetooth Places' icon on the desktop.
4.Open the connected Himalaya and click to the SSA service.
5.Now the connection window will appeared. Choose the *99# as a dialed number and click to Dial.
That's it.
