Stuck on v2.00.x bootloader - HTC Typhoon

I've managed to get myself stuck up a dead end.
My device: Orange UK spv c500.
SPL: 2.00.0013
OS: None!
I upgraded to wm2005 but despite updating the reg keys posted by subliminal I couldn't install the certificate I use to ActiveSync with my Exchange Server; so I decided to downgrade.
I immediately realized my first mistake - I didn't have a backup of the old ROM on SD. Instead I downloaded one from a link in one of the forums and used psdwrite to put it on my SD card. I ran the update, but it failed and the device wouldn't start.
My next mistake was to try and re-flash the 'phone with the latest Orange UK ROM (v4.2.1.1). What I'd forgotten was that this updates the bootloader at the same time.
The flash appeared to go fine, but on restart I'm stuck in the bootloader. When I attempt to re-flash again the summary in the RUU says "Image Version:" ie no image version present.
If I was still on a v1 bootloader I'd be able to run IU_SPL+PatchedRUU again to give me an IU mode bootloader. With a v2 bootloader I can run this as many times as I want, but it won't put a lower version on.
Without an IU mode bootloader I can't "r2sd spl" to use itsme's dowload tools. Without a working OS I cant use TyphoonNBFTools to flash the SPL.
Can you think of any other solution?
If there was someway to "con" the rom update process into installing an older version of the SPL I'd be OK. Alternatively if it was possible to change the version of the SPL in SPVDEVS-SPL.nbf I could get it on.
Thanks for your help.

Wrote the CLoader_usb.nb file on my Qtek 1010 and it's dead

Hello All,
I was wondering if any of you were able to recover from this particular error:
I have a Qtek 1010 which I upgraded to ROM 3.16 and RS 3.19. I was really curious about ROM 3.15.15 as I had heard so much about it on the forums so I got my hands on a copy and tried to upgrade.
First, the Upgrade utility refused to work because I was trying to flash an older ROM with and already existing newer ROM. So I resorted to the Bootloader way. I backed up the existing Bootloader and ROM Image and wrote the 3.15.15 ROM back onto the SD Card. Unfortunately, I wrote the CLoader_usb.nb that came with the Upgrade Utility back onto the SD card. I booted up and flashed the ROM with the SD card, did a cold boot and nothing happens.
I charged the phone until the LED was a steady green and tried again. Nothing. I did note that I get a quick red LED flash whenever I press the Cold Boot button the second time, for example: press [red flash], press [no flash], press [red flash], etc.
If anyone has ever come across this problem and managed to undo it, please let me know.
Anyway, I guess it was my own fault, but it was not too clear on the website how to rewrite the bootloader because the example graphic says 5-15.nb0. So all you guys out there who are just getting into flashing you ROM the bootloader way, make sure you use the Boot Image that you backed up and not any other (unless you have a new Boot Image that you want to upload)
See you guys around.
I have exactly the same thing. See here: http://xda-developers.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=3284
Have you found a solution yet?
CLoader_usb.nb does not contain a bootloader, so if you wrote that over the bootloader, you probably have permanently damaged your device.
you would have to look into this for a possible solution http://xda-developers.com/jtag/
Your guys' XDA are dead. How could your guys wrote "CLoader_usb.nb" to overwrite to bootloader!
Only hardware solution could bring the life back (I can help)!
If your phone is still on warranty, you could send back to them to repair or replace!
Please note, flashing is dangerous for newbie!

Bricked Cruise? Need Help.

Okay, so I'm an idiot. I'm completely lost now. Here's the basic facts:
Hard-SPL install was unsuccessful, but I didn't notice. So I'm still with original SPL.
I started upgrading the ROM with original SPL, which of course crashes at 3 percent.
Now I can't get back into WM. It's stuck at the 'smart mobility screen'.
So the problem is: it won't let me install any ROMs because original SPL is still on there. I can't change to hard-SPL anymore either. The ROM that's on the machine doesn't seem to work anymore. When I try to install an original ROM it says I can't use this utility. I think I need to download an official ROM + installer, but I can't find any from HTC.
Alright, so skip all the noob and idiot comments please, I already know. But where do I go from here?
Please help!

First you can try a hard reset!
Here you can download the original shipped rom with installer.

Update
Update
Okay, so I did the hard reset as described here. No luck.
So I went back to the bootloader screen (original SPL) and tried the original rom and installer from the download link. Again, no luck. It says "Error [294] Invalid Vender ID. This utility cannot be used for your PDA phone. Please check your update utility." The phone was unlocked when I bought it, it's HTC branded. Is there another installer out there?
I've also tried loading several roms by putting them on SD, renamed as POLAIMG.nbh. (including the orginal rom, extracted from the downloaded installer). For the original Rom, it will say 'loading...', then 'checking...' and then it will tell me: "00028002 - not allow". Then it goes back to the three colour spl screen.
There's also a link here on the forum which I'm not sure is good advice.

Hi
Ths info I posted relates to the Kaiser (kaiser [nearly] equals Polaris in terms of hardware) and the MTTY is from the ELF forum.
"set 16 0" to tell bootloader to boot the OS after reset.
"task 8" to get your device formatted
I suggest the set 16 0 and a reset to see if that helps, I do advocate you searching for these commands and checking they are applicable.
The info was from this KAISER thread

Thanks for your advice guys.
I tried the "set 16 0" command + reset. Still same situation.
Any other tips anyone?

I think he wrote already that he tried to flash some ROMS using SD card... (POLAIMG.NBH). Not sure though if he tried re Hard-SPL'ing using the SD flash method...
So I would suggest to retry the HardSPL using the POLAIMG.NBH method (just as if the HardSPL's .NBH file was a normal ROM) if this hasn't been tried yet...
Hey you must careffuly read mtty in kaiser thread.....mtty can brick your device for entire life.....my advice to you is pm GSLEON3
he's the master of using mtty and lot of kaiser user saved by him...
Hope this can help you

The Facts
When I try to hard-spl through the SD-card, it just says "Loading..." and that's where it stays - Even if I leave it till the battery dies. I tried the 2.10 and 1.10 versions on this page.

Hard-SPL through SD
You're right; I did notice that - however
I had to take an nbh from this page. The reason is that the HTC Cruise Hard-SPL program I found on this page won't let me extract the rom.
I need the rom file to put in on SD!
The Hermes one probably wouldn't work anyway though, thats a good point Where to get the Polaris separate rom nbh? I haven't found it on the forums. Maybe I'm going blind...

1. You can not flash hard-spl with microSD method! (hard-spl flash use jumpspl to ignore cid-lock. But with microSD card method you will not use jumpspl, so you can not flash hard-spl! (and to use microSD method you have to have hard-spl on your pda)
2. If you unzip hard-spl on your pc will be an RUU_signed.nbh. This is the rom file, but you can not to flash it with microSD.
3. Your device is bricked, I think. Take it to repair!
after an unsuccessful flash, u shud never try to flash again, high chance of permanently bricking your pda. go contact GSLEON3, he saved my kaiser from bricking when i made the same mistake as u. helpful fellow. make sure u donate lol

Can't flash from SD, ship ROM from BL - err. 240 or 270

Hi,
Artemis (not branded, CID locked), boots only to BootLoader.
Flashing official ROMs (either old or new one) from BL ends at 3% with errors #270 or #244.
Tried flashing _official_ ROMs from mSD card (2GB Sandisk, FAT32 formatted, ARTEIMG.nbh renamed, in root of the card) - "Checking SD contents" and straight to tri-color BL screen.
BL screen shows :
IPL 1.12.0001
SPL1.12.0000
Can connect with mtty, but I don't know what to do with it
Any help/ideas much appreciated, thanks.
t.
hey
maybe the rom you are trying to is not the one for it
try to get one from the the htc site it self
cuz you need to flash the rom with the original carrier and language as i think
and since you can inter to the boot loader maybe you can run the USPL
just an idea

It boots ONLY to BL, doesn't start normally, so I can't USPL/CID unlock it (would need ActiveSync connection for this, unless there's some other method).
That's why I try to load an official, signed rom (from HTC site) - but for some reason Artemis does not like it, neither from card, neither from BL, even though it is the official "unlocked" ROM.
t.
But you said that your Artemis is not official, so that's a problem.
Being a official ROM doesn't mean that you can flash it in all Artemis.
For example, if the language is different, then it can't be flashed either.
By "not branded" I meant it's plain HTC, not Orange, O2 or other operator.
That's the problem - a HTC unit does not accept HTC ROM (but used to, without problems).

Did u find a solution to this? i have the same isue
>Did u find a solution to this? i have the same isue
Nope. Spent several evenings searching for a hint, found nothing.
I hope somebody will find and share a way to unbrick it, but since Artemis is quite an old piece, and the gurus are busy with newer toys, I guess we need plenty of luck
imei-check.co.uk was mentioned few times, that they can provide rebuilt boot-data (?) to be flashed but there're no info about it on their www.
It seems that software version information is broken/lost in the device, so ANY attempt to flash ANY software into it will result in some kind of "wrong version" error.
br
I dropped the ROM on SD
Try that..and be patient..you should see upload status that way. I waited 30 minutes at the RGB Screen before rebooting. Also..make sure you unlock your phone 1st.
there is hundereds of %2 %3 cut off flashing artemis on earth. No solution even mtty and goldcard.
Worked???
Did it worked anyway? I have same issue..So Im just wondering if I have brick or I have to triyed to fix it
just flash it
i think u just flash it with the original rom.
this for dopod M700 official rom.
http://www.4shared.com/file/1337563...Ngsm411330_026990_Cmp_Ship_R.html?err=no-sess
what type of artemis do u have?
just go to the official web.
www.htc.com
but u need to insert SN number to download it.
just run the exe file to upgrade.

R2A GENERIC_UK ROM Flash FAIL?!

I was running the R1A generic ROM on my Voda Xperia (not using HardSPL) and just tried to flash the R2A ROM when I got a screen full of red writing after the "OS" section. saying
"KOVSIMG.nbh - FAIL"
"UPDATE TERMINATE", "UPDATE FAIL", with a code "00018002" at the top of the screen. I am using the MicroSD method.
EDIT: Restarted the phone and it is continuing the update, I will let you know on status this time.
EDIT 2: Fail again. Any ideas?
Cure
Had same problem (same problem address etc)
Cure:
Re-download rom
Format SD
copy fresh .nbh to SD
Done!
Suspect it was bad byte or similar
Yeh
Hey, I did the same thing and got it working, very strange though.
I didn't redownload I just formatted the memory stick again and copied the same file I already had over. Put it back and it installed fine the 3rd time. How strange that it was the same address, obviously wasn't the file, because like I said I didn't download it again, used the same one.
I HardSPLed mine and it worked fine
whats the difference between hardspl and no hard spl?
Did you install the hardSPL correct version ?
Or did you follow exactly the Tutorial ?
I know that for the french version, I had to use the nbh tool to extract the OS image from the full image to flash correctly my X1.... Take a look in the Tutorial to be sure that this step was not necessary (from memory, if I remember well, the nbh step is not necessary for DE or US, but the best way is not to listen to me but to the tutorial). I personnaly flashed mine but in french & perfect flash !
Difference
The difference between HardSPL and no HardSPL is presumably, that I, without the HardSPL can only flash official ROMS be they Vodafone UK or GENERIC_UK, or presumably any other locale of Official ROM. Since the Vodafone UK phone does not come Sim Locked, there is no reason I guess for them to protect from flashing other official ROMS including the GENERIC.
Since I plan to keep my warranty I do not intent to HardSPL my phone and am happy to keep it to official ROMs as long as they are generic and not the utter ****e that Vodafone dumps on us.
As to tutorial I did not follow any tutorial, I simply copied the rom image to my memory card as Kovsimg.nbh, rebooted using VolDown+Power and followed the on screen instructions. I do not believe a tutorial is required?! Again, as I said, no HardSPL, so that entire stage and attached complications are irrelevent.

[Q] White Screen at boot up, ROM fails - Hardware or Software

I feel like I have looked everywhere but forgive me if I missed a thread that may answer this.
I don't know if this is a hardware or software issue.
I installed HSPL 2.08 successfully
I then installed MAGLDR 1.13 successfully
Flashed my phone with HD2_Core_Droid_Desire_HD_V1.5_NAND_ONLY_LEO1024_TMOUS successfully
Android booted fine and worked for about a day and a half. My phone froze up and had to remove battery. Now it only boots to white screen.
I have attempted to reinstalled MAGLDR without success
I have attempted to change my HSPL back to SPL to install OEM Rom without success HSPL says it was successful but bootloader screen says different.
I read in a thread that it could be a radio conflict (though I don't know why it would work for a day and then stop) but I can't install a radio ROM. I get Error 207 Image file corrupted.
I have read threads about flashing from the SD card by extracting the signed_RUU.nbh file from the stock ROM, but I have no idea how to do that. I do not have the extract option on the exe file of the stock ROM I download...and I have downloaded several versions.
Please help.

I have no idea what is happening with your phone and why is it happening... But I can tell yoy one thing. Whenever I had any problems when phone would not go further one step, I would do TASK29 and follow all the steps all over again. TASK29 is sth like wiping everything off your NAND. Hope it helps.
I kind of think this is a hardware issue... My boys did the same thing... Never got it back up and running.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
what about the radio ?
do task 29 and flash radio if you haven't (ignore if you did it earlier) then install MAGLDR and flash the rom from within MAGLDR or follow whatever instructions the developer has posted in his thread.
I too have tried everything and although magldr and wm6.5 both flash from sd, still wsod. My advice is take it to tmobile, and talk them into admitting its a hardware problem ;-)
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
I forgot to mention I did try the Task29 and it too failed. So I am thinking it is a hardware issue.
UPDATE: I figured out where to find the .nbh files in my temp folder and was able to copy and paste them to the SD card. I have also gotten to the image load screen to flash the leoimg.nbh file. However all of them fail at RADIO and subsequently fail the update. I have tried new and old stock ROM and the Radio ROM by itself. I also used the Task29 nbh file and was successful in flashing that from my SD card ... but the HSPL is still there at the boot loader screen.
I can't seem to figure out what is causing the fail.
Thoughts anyone?
Sorry
HD2_Core_Droid_Desire_HD_V1.5_NAND_ONLY_LEO1024_TM OUS successfully
Did you check is this version quiet similar to your phone's hardware configuration
Ram 1024
My version is compatible. Again, it was running fine. In fact, I have a phone previous that I installed it and it worked beautifully but I dropped and shattered the screen. When I got this new one (same model) I performed the installation the exact same way. It worked a day and a half and then froze.
Based on other searches, it looks like I may have bricked my radio.
UPDATE:
I think I was able to solve this and hopefully I won't be as cryptic as someone else who had a similar problem. Don't Give Up is good advice however attempting the same time over and over is probably not the best.
This is what I did ... after banging my head at the redundancy.
I used NBHExtract from the NBHExtract forum on the Stock ROM T-Mobile_HD2_MR_Software_2.13.531.1 that I downloaded from T-Mobile. This extracted all the .nb files and thankfully they were well labeled.
I then used the NBH Creator from the NBH Creator forum (yes you will have to register to download this application.)
In the NBH Creator I used the settings provided to me in the NBHExtract window and used the SPL, Splash, and OS only ... leaving the Radio blank.
I created the leoimg.nbh file and put that on a blank 2Gig FAT32 formated SD card.
Booted the phone in Bootloader.
The update failed however it uninstalled the HSPL
From here I did a Hard Reset to clear the ROM Update failure message on the tri-color screen.
I attempted to update the ROM via USB to the 3.14 version (again downloaded from T-Mobile's site). This got to 4% and failed. I now had the warning triangle symbol on my screen indicating the Software Update failed and to try again.
I tried again however this time with the 2.13 version (the ROM I extracted at the beginning) via USB. This time is successfully installed.
This is probably not a fool-proof nor verified option, however it worked for my phone model PB8112000. It might work for you.
I am tempted to try Android again, however, I don't know if the radio issue was hardware or software.
