Write Protected SD Card - Only Its Not In Lock Mode - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Hey everyone, does anyone know why my xda can access and format my 1gb sd card, but suddenly my pc cant write to the card becuase its "Write Protected", even tho the slider is not set to lock.
Anyone have some ideas ?

Hi,
I just had exactly the same problem with a 512Mb SD Card. My card reader doesn't seem to recognize the slider properly, in the end I taped a small piece of tape over the length of the indent on the card and it started working fine on the PC, took the tape off and put it back in my XDA IIi and eveything was fine. Saved me an hour installing TTN5, took me an hour to figure it out!!!

sd card reading problem

hi!!
i need some help with my mda compact..
i bought a new sd 2Gb card and it wont read it...
its asks to format it and does but nothing else...
thats it..
it cant read it..
I've had the same prob with an 2Gb MMC, and i fix it by unscreawing a bit the top 2 screws of the mainboard (have to open the upper back part). The ideea is to push the card slot backword, until it reads the card correctly, anddoing this with the battery cover on place, to be able to power on your device after uncreawing a bit, to test the rezult. By doing this I fixt also some reading problemsa that i had with other card (when paying movies from the card, it would freez the move until I would pull out the card and put it back again). Hope to be of help.

Micro SD and P4350

Hi guys, I just put in a 1GB Micro SD card and I am having problem getting the card out or ejecting the card. Anybody know how or what is the correct way to get it out. I try pushing the card down but it doesn't pop up.....please help thanks!!!
Just press it inwards, and will pop out itself
I had the same problem. I went back to the store and we tried to get out by pushing it, but i did not work. We manged to get it out by pulling it out, and then we inserted a dummy card. This made the eject mechanism function again, and when I inserted my card again it worked.
I had the same problem when I first put in my micro SD card. I had to pry it out with tweezers. Thanks to this thread, I got the idea that I could get the mechanism working. So, I worked the card in and out several times, pushing it all the way in with my nail and letting it snap back a bit (and prying it out again) until the mechanism became loose enough to work properly.

X01HT 2gb MicroSD Problem

Hi all,
I just got recently a 2gb microSD from Sandisk and conected in my X01HT(HTC TyTN), it doesn´t reconize the card and the card get very, very hot
anyone could help me with that?
Thanks
Assuming there's nothing wrong with the card, you might have put the card in wrong, or the card might not be aligned properly when placed into the slot. Try these:
1) make sure the contacts side is facing up when you put in the card (slot facing you, pda screen facing up)
2) as you insert the card (slowly), try to align it more to the bottom left of the slot. If it's inserted correctly, you should feel some springing pushing the card out as you insert it.
3) If the card is inserted correctly, it should bounce back out if you push it in a little.
hopefully that helps, but if all else fails, take the card back to the store.

Broken SD Reader

Hi. I broke one of the 2 "arms" that make contact when the card is pressed down so my wizard is not recognizing it.
Is there a way to fix this? when i press the card down, it stays there but the backlight doesnt turn on and the card is not recognized.
Thank you
Also, the broken arm is broken in half
Ok, i figured it out myself.. I wrapped the sd card with aluminum foil (leaving the reading area uncovered) and thats it. My wizard is reading the sd card again.

[Q] SD Card crashed?

You guys are the most helpful!
My 16gb sandisk micro sd card is no longer being recognized. I booted my HTC HD2 in Android and mounted the sd card to transfer pics to my pc. Just then I got a call coming in and the phone immediately became unresponsive. I kept getting the force close message but I couldn't stop it (it seemed to be in a loop) So I unsafely disconnected the phone from the pc, took out the battery and rebooted it. It started up in windows, but when I went to check for the sd card it could no longer be found. I pull out the card put it back more than twice, and yet the phone failed to recognize my memory card.
Please help me guys
put the sd card into a card reader, connect to your pc and if if its recognised there, it might be a dying card I've lost 1 16GB and an 8GB in 18 months with my hd2
If the pc recognises the card with no error save the date, reformat to primary partition fat 32 using Easeus free edition, also try the phone without the card
Thank u
Hey ..I really do appreciate the time u took to respond. Funny I was thinking the same thing....I broke my old card reader, now I have to get another another on from Amazon.com. As soon as I can lay my hands on one that is gonna be my first move.
Again, thanks a bunch.
P.S
Sadly I feel like an idiot for not backing up my sd card...(more than 3000 photos on there )

After trying the SD Card thru a card reader and if it still doesn't work/recognize it - then your mobile (hd2's)windows is corrupted - coz the same happened with me thrice and ultimately I took it back to the HTC service centre and they re installed the windows 6.5 and since then everythings is working normally and there is no problem with the SD Card anymore, but your old card becomes thrash and you'll have to get a new card :0)

Same here. Lost a sd-card recently but probably due to my own fault.
The card was difficult to get out of the reader (Yup, it seems there is some tolerance on the size) so I had to use some small tweezers.
I finally managed to get it out without any visual damage but after inserting it in the HD2 it couldn't see it anymore, neither in the cardreader afterwards.
What I think is that I had physically bent the card and broke the connections to the actual memory chip.
Some good advice on memory cards and I can't stress this out enough especially for dedicated photo equipment. Instead of buying a 16GB card buy 2 x 8GB and from a known seller and known brand.
The best and probably worst experience example that I can give is from a couple who were on their honeymoon and lost all of their pictures because of a el-cheapo 8GB memorycard.
For a phone it is something else but I made a custom out of it to create a map on my c-drive called sd-card phone. Ok it is not a every week copy but it is handy to have the data on my pc and on my phone.
