O2 (Germany) WAP + GPRS Settings on XDA II - Networking

Hi,
I'm using a MDA II (T-Mobile) and a O2 card.
I'm interessted in umgrading to a O2 rom but I'm afraid of loosing warranty. I'm not afraid that something should be wrong by flashing the o2-rom to my XDA II but I have 2 years warranty left and in that time some other things may happend to my system that I must use the warranty.
So I need the O2 settings of the O2 rom to use MMS, WAP, GPRS,... Which file of the O2 rom have stored these settings?
There are a lot of files in that rom, what are these all for?
I coppied allready the homezone tool which works fine on my XDA II (don't start automatically - coppied to autostart but don't start , only manual start works - somone a sollutions for that?).
Does anyone know for what all the programs in my startfolder are for? There are a lot of entried which will fast system... But I don't want to find it out by trieing....
Does anyone knows a good simulation for the XDA II to test software. I dont' want to put all on my life system and delete again. I thing the regestry will grows bigger and bigger....

flash mda with xda rom

hi guys,
i have a rather simple question but - due to my limited technical understanding - havent been able to find a simple answer on this forum ;-)
i have a t-mobile mda which i am running with a O2 sim. Now the software that came with it does not offer a key function which i would like to have, being an O2 user: the indicator that shows me if i am in my O2 home zone or not. the latest o2 software update adds that functionality, but i am not sure if i can install it on my mda.
is there a reasonable safe & simple way to flash my mda with the new xda rom?
would it be a good idea just to run the special edition rom exe-file?
thanks for answering newbie questions!!!
woody
i forgot to mention: my location is germany..guess this matters
OK, special edition works fine
No O2 genion home zone indicator either however. Is it save to flash to the mda with the latest original xda rom (3.19.01)...cause this would be my next step
thanks,
woody

What GPRS Cab?

Hi people!
What cab file (if any) can i grab from the extended ROM to set up the GPRS settings for O2 XDA Mini S?
I have been entering them myself, just thought it would be nice if there was a cab file to do this as when i let the customising in 3 seconds run that sets up GPRS.
Hope u can help!

what gprs rom
This one works on my magician on O2 its form O2_UK_XDAIIs_140237 extended rom on the ftp. There is one on one of the imate jam roms that allows you to sellect any major network, sory tried the rom binned it cant remember which it was, got big storage now.
Would be handy to have a list of all the cabs for just each operator settings.

qtek s100 - O2 rom

Good day
is it possible to change my qtek s100 - O2 ?
Can you give me a piece of advice..im just a new user of pocket pc phone
tnx...
jetty
From what I understand from your post is that you want to change your ROM from Qtek to O2, right? Yes, its possible. There are tons of information in the Magician Upgrading forum. Being a newbie, I suggest that you read through all the related threads before jumping into upgrading unless you are quite knowledgable in these things.
Since you are living in the Philippines, I don't see the need for you to change to O2's ROM (O2 is one of the providers in Europe) since the providers there are Globe, Smart, and Sun. This has been said many times - the Magician's ROM is composed of 3 parts, the OS ROM, Extended ROM, and Radio ROM. The OS and Radio ROMs are exactly the same for all variations/brands/providers of the Magician (brands/providers = Qtek, iMate, O2, T-mobile, Dopod, etc.). The Extended ROM contains specific modifications made by each brand/provider, and aside from the standard programs like CallerID, PhonePad, SmartDialing, it mostly contains auto configuration software for SMS, MMS, GPRS, and maybe even Email.
What you should do, like most of us did, is to apply the BigStorage ROM and then take what ever Extended ROM software you like from different brands. There are also Extended ROM auto configuration files for Globe, Smart or Sun. All this software can be found in the ftp of this forum.
Again, please read all related topics, make a backup of your data and current ROM before doing any upgrades.
Good luck, kabayan (as it is said in your language).
tnx kababayan.....
I will just try to have the Extended ROM for my phone..
I wish I can Make it....
again tnx

O2 and Orange settings ?

Hi Guys,
I got my Universal [O2 XDA Exec] today, its a replacement for my old Ipaq H5550. So far i'm very impressed with the PPC side of it. But totally lost with the phone side
One of the things i've already discovered is its not locked to O2, and i've already tested it with my Orange PAYG sim. Which is the reason for this post.
Is there a way to use the O2 settings/servers to daytime [work] use, and the Orange settings/servers for night [playtime] ?
I don't need a one button solution, i don't mind getting a little messy.
if you can extract the cab files for operator settings fro the orange and o2 extended rom and save them as read only on your device you could just run the one you want to use and soft reset.
Hi Midget_1990,
Damn, that was quick.
I'll over to the FTP site and have a play.
Thanks.
OK, had a look in the Ext ROM folders, but theres no clues in their names, and I don't know enough about CAB's to pull them apart.
I did find a thread explaining what the CAB's in the O2 Ext ROM do, and a modified CAB with just the O2 settings, [Thanks Dingo].
Can anyone tell me if someone has made a simular CAB for the Orange settings, or which CAB's in the Orange Ext ROM the settings are in ?
Thanks Guys.

Converting an MDA Compact to XDA Mini

Hi folks,
A friend of mine is buying my old T-Mobile MDA Compact off me, he's on O2 PAYG and I'm looking to convert the phone to be as much like the O2 XDA equivelant as posible to avoid network issues.
Firstly, What is the O2 XDA equivelant of the MDA Compact officially known as? I've heard it's the XDA mini, but not sure.
1. Can I install/use an O2 XDA mini ROM (or updated one) to setup the phone for use on O2? I'm assuming the ROM is the only software differance between an XDA mini and MDA Compact.
2. Will this also change the radio stack, allowing the phone to accept an O2 sim card or will i need to apply a seperate unclock tool?
Where can I find O2 XDA mini ROMs? and if needed an unlock tool?
I'm hoping its as simple as just installing an O2 ROM but I'm preparing myself for the worst.
Any help and advice gratly appreciated,
Mike
Simple thing to do it just to SIM unlock your phone. If you can't figure out how to set up the stuff like GPRS internet connection, etc, you can get the EXT ROM from the O2 Xda mini and install it manually. For your case, if using the phone on O2 is the thing you want, I won't recommend you to do a flash.
And don't double post
Hi, thanks for replying.

- do a search
- do a search
- I mean, if you can't even find the sim unlock software, don't flash your phone, you will likely to brick it.
How about using the XDA-Wiki in the top brown bar?
