Activesynch from remote location? - Networking

I use my laptop as a remote to operate my desktop through a VPN. I synch my XDA II before I leave my desktop. While I am on the road and connected to my VPN running my desktop from my laptop, is it possible to sync my XDA II to the Desktop's Outlook?
I can also run my desktop from the XDA II through the VPN. Can I synch the Desktop Outlook to the XDA through that connection instead?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I thing this is posible if you Use Outlook 2003 in Cache mode (like work offline). Try.

Using XDA as remote PC screen

Hi,
Does anyone know some software that can make
the XDAII function as a remote screen for the PC ?
It would be great to use the XDAIIs touch screen
to control the PC - maybe via bluetooth ?
Cheers,
Johannes
Johannes,
Try using VNC .....
You'll need to install a server on you PC (TightVNC, RealVNC or [email protected])
Then use the Pocket PPC Viewer on the XDA
Regards
John
well you can use windows therminal services
or pocketVNC to get the screen from the pc to the pda
but it will clone not extend your desktop
and at least with therminal services (which is included in both the pocketpc and in windows) it logoff the pc user when the pocketpc connects
and at least with therminal services you need the vidcomm bluetooth stack to get the PAN profile
because if you use activesync to connect and then login from the pocketpc the desktop user gets log'd off and this disable activesync which breaks the connection to the pda

A couple of Wi Fi questions for any XDA 2s guru's

 I have set up a wi fi connection with my home network, which also includes a Toshiba laptop. (so far so easy!)
Question 1: How do I set up my XDA to access my laptop files. I've been told I use the Terminal Services Client application, but other than that i have no idea.
question 2: Can I sync my XDA with my laptop via wifi?
All help much appreciated.
Thanks

Terminal services client will allow you to control your laptop, but not to access its files as such from the PDA. To do the latter, you need to either use activesync, or install some network client software such as pocketlan. Once the likes of pocketlan is installed, you can share a folder on the laptop and access it from the PDA.

Yes, but first you need to set up an activesync partnership using the cradle connected via USB. Once the partnership exists, you can use wifi from them on. The XDA supports partnerships with up to two separate machines. If you have more than 1 partnership then you can select the machine for the sync in the activesync options.

One Dopod818Pro Sync with Laptop & Desktop PC

How can I synchronize with my company Notebook and my home Desktop PC with the same 818Pro? I need to sychronize all info with my home PC and only browse PDA using my company Laptop? Can I do that?
How?
You can synchronise with 2 PCs. Email synchronises with only one though. I would suggest connecting it with the PC that you want to sync email with first ... then with the other PC.

OWA / OMA - how?

OWA / OMA - how?
Currently I am using Xda neo and I would like to learn how to do "activesync" over the air. I am using GPRS and Wifi so connect to the Internet while I am outlook is no problem at all. It in fact becomes my habit.
Instead of physically going back to my home and office desktop PC to activesync, I want to know what software is needed so that I can activesync my xda neo over wifi/gprs to my home desktop pc, while I am outdoor?
If the above is impractical, is there any paid/free OWA account available so that I can activesync my xda neo with a Internet computer?
Also, what is the difference between OWA and OMA?
Thanks!

Bypass Exchange Server ActiveSync on desktop?

Hi everyone. New poster here and love this forum. I've switched over from 8 years of PalmOS and Treo to the Wizard and enjoying it tremendously.
My only problem so far that I haven't been able to find an answer to is with Exchange Server sync on the desktop. I have it working flawlessly over the air via GPRS with Direct Push. However, I have an extensive amount of Notes that I constantly use that I need to sync from desktop, so I connect via USB and it hangs forever trying to synchronize Exchange Server from the USB! How do I stop this and have it only syn with Windows PC? I can get everything else fine from GPRS and don't care to sync on the desktop for Exchange.
I'm using ActiveSync 4.2 on XP for a Cingular 8125 with latest updates. Exchange sync through the desktop fails after 10-15 minutes. I just need to bypass that on the desktop and only sync wirelessly for email, contacts, and calendar. I need only task and notes desktop sync. Does anyone know how to do this? My wireless sync isn't using SSL but SMS notifications which is sufficient for me. My apologies if this has already been answered, but my search was not able to uncover an answer.
