unlocking it
Hi to you too, pal! Well don't have to enter the test mode.
First try to install the xda unlock exe file fm this site, and then open it fm your ppc.
If the attept fails, find and download the special rom or rom kitchen,to overwrite a new rom which provides the use of any network.
Finally I've discovered a tip,on sx56.When is asking for SID lock code not PIN,type the number zero eight times.

I just unlocked my TMO XDA 1 ... it was painful! Here's a lesson's learned checklist.
1. Get a SD card reader/writer. ~$20 @ CompUSA.
2. Get a 64M SD Card for Bootloader flashing your unit.
3. Build a 3.17.03.exe ROM image at Yorch kitchen.
4. Backup current CE+boot to your 64M SD card. Enter Bootloader, wait for a "GSM OK" message to appear, press contact button next to speaker. Scroll down to Boot+CE->SD, select. This will copy current ROM to SD card.
5. Take this sd card, put in sd card reader/writer and using OSImageTool.exe (part of XDAtools), copy card to pc folder called CurrentROM or similar.
4. Remove sim & sd card from unit.
5. Put in cradle & connect to pc. Using a guest partnership is okay.
6. Run the 3.17.03.exe file. Mine failed. Couldn't read device config. Said to check USB/serial cable connection.
7. Went back to Yorch kitch, created 3.17.03.nb1 file, downloaded it, copied to SD card via sd card reader/writer & OSImageTool.
8. Insert this sd card into your unit, enter Bootloader & it will ask if you want to load this O/S, do so. This worked for me. Do a hard reset after successfully completion and when it comes up, it states unit is sim locked, do you want to change this, tap Yes. I copied XDAunlock.exe to unit, via A/S to confirm unit was really unlocked. XDAunlock confirmed unit was unlocked.
9. Problem, flashing to 3.17.03 put phone model to PW10A1, mine is PW10B1. Any .exe ROM upgrade software will not work. They "see" a model A and they're configured to install software for a model B ... at least in the USA.
10. To get around this, I put a ROM4.00.21.nb1 on the SD card via sd writer, upgraded unit's ROM via Bootloader. This was successful and model was put to PW10B1.
11. Then I ran my ROM4.01.00.exe which completely finished installing the RSU & ROM on my unit. The advanced copy of TMO's ROM4.01.00, RS6.24.01 is combined into an .exe. I'm sure .nb1 and .nbf exist.
I'm running an unlocked TMO XDA 1 and just packaged it for selling. Good luck.

i send the xdaunlock file in my ppc and open it but they show error erro to getting code , i send the file with infra red and open it in start>programes>filexplorer>mydocuments
but show error
i have only usb cable and infra red
please guide me
and its hard to purchase com cable from any other site just give me schematic and pinouts for cable i will make it by my own

Your ROM version is too old: if you install the XDA-developers Special Edition ROM it will provide you with some new features, and resolve your SIMlock problem as well.
Note that this will involve cold-booting your device, so backup all your information first.

how i update to rom because i have only usb cable which comes in box
there is any other way to make cable because it is hard to purchase for me give me schematic and pinouts etc.

you don't need a serial cable to flash your xda. just got to the kitchen at www.yorch.net. cook a ROM based on 3.17 and select the exe method. down load the file to ur PC and connect the xda to the cradle and make sure it's connected to power. run the exe file and follow the instructions.
good luck

@Biso007
thanks for reply me
but how download the file i find many things but not 3.17

I want to use my phone in Vodafone in Spain. So I need to unlock.
I have the unlock tool from XDA but it says 'error getting unlock code'
this is due because it is incompatible with the version of ROM/Software I have on my PDA.
Now, I have a small problem. I dont have the USB cables, (I want t buy them but I cant find them ANYWHERE...if any of you know...that would be of MAJOR help.)
Is there a way around that? Is there a tool for my version?

Can I do this via my SD Card?
http://www.romkitchen.de/
Is this site worth trusting? What would I select to make my phone unlocked? I see on that site a rom for Spain's Telefonica (which I could easily make the switch to, and I wouldnt need to unlock phone?)
Can anyone explain to me the process?
Thanks!

Who can give me their T-Mobile number so I can dl the upgrad

hi,
Sum1 here who a T-Mobile subscriber? I have a T-Mobile PocketPC that I need to unlock tho I'm not a T-Mobile subcriber. I need a T-Mobile mobile number to get the upgrade at http://www.t-mobile.com/products/handhelds/pocketpc/download_popup.asp
Or if someone already downloded the upgrade where can I download it without keying-in the mobile number? Thanks.
BTW, I have a question, if I download the upgrade, can I now use the XDAunlock.exe file here (is my ROM automatically updated)? My ROM version now is 3.14.40 ENG. I'm having trouble with the ROM updater here since im not linux literate.
Email me at [email protected]. Thanks a lot
I already downloaded the TMobile upgrade. Can somebody tell me if this upgrade will indeed upgrade my ROM to the correct ROM version with wirelss modem feature to I can use the XDAunlock.exe to unlock my xda? Thanks
The answer is NO, the latest TMO upgrade is 4.01.00 and it has no wmodem.exe application. If you need to unlock your device, go to www.xda-developers.com/XDAunlock/ and use the tool there.
If it doesn't work, try the kitchen at www.yorch.net and cook a new 3.17 based ROM and flash your XDA and unlock it, then you can upgrade to TMO 4.01.00 later.
BTW, the TMO upgrade affects the RSU part. So, unless you are a TMO user you better use the .nbf file only with either SD card or use the XDAtools to flash your device.
Good luck.
Hi Biso,
How can I "cook" a rom? http://kitchen.romanweb.com/kitchen/index.php when I go to that website, the only thing needed to be selected are the 3.17.03 ENG O2-Euro (6656 kB available) and XDA-developers AutoConfig data (113 kB) under it. and the unlocking option right? This wil be the first to use my pocket pc device, which option should I select under How would you like your ROM?
installer EXE
zipped NK.nb1 (SD-card flashing)
zipped NK.nbf (advanced users)
and should I do anything on the NBF header string?
Thanks man.
If I use the intaller EXE file, how will I "flash" it on my device? What are the differences between using the exe,nk.nb1 and nk.nbf? Thanks again.
I notice that above the page there is an indication, by default when I go to the page (without checking or unchecking anything) the top of the page states:
space in ROM: 6656 kB
used: 7729 kB
free: -1072 kB
*overload*
Should I limit my ROM on 6656 kB (meaning that I have to uncheck other options)? My deveice is an XDA 1. Thank you.
Hi ...
Yes, you have to uncheck some optional s/w till the guage line is "Green".
If you are not familiar with the SD method, just select the EXE type. It will generate a 15 MB exe file which you should download it to your PC. Connect your XDA to your PC throught the cradle and ActiveSync and run the exe file while the cradle is connected to the power supply and follow the instructions on the screen.
Good luck.
Thanks man for the quick reply.
Sorry I'm getting confused. Should I transfer the exe file to the device and run the exe file on the device?
Thanks again
The exe file runs from your desktop, your xda will need to be synced with your pc before running the exe.
Thanks so this is what I have to do:
First sync my device (cradle connected to the power supply) and after synching, run the exe file on my desktop computer (no need to transfer on my device or anything?). That's it?
Is this fail-proof? Will it not damage my device if ever there was an interruption or sumthing? How can I make sure that I can go fail-proof? Kinda worried coz I just got hold of my xda 1 (T-Mobile edition), I'm a palm user before. Thanks
BTW, my PocketPC Version is 3.0.12039 (Build 11178). ROM version 3.14.40 ENG. I don't know if my PocketPC is 2002 or 2003. I'll be using the yorch.net ROM (http://kitchen.romanweb.com/kitchen/index.php). All compatible?
ROM 3.14 is a PPC2002 one and all ROMs on Yorch.net is WM2003 except the 3.17 one.
Just to ensure it's a safe process, remove the SIM and SD card from the device and stop any running applications on your PC.
Good luck ...
Thans Biso. How bout a step by step guide? Pls pls pls? Id really appreciate it man.
Like
1. Sync the device (Power connected to the cradle)
2. Run the Rom Exe file
3. etc.
Just to be sure. BTW, is the exe file really just 150KB? Is that all I need to unlock my device?
Hi ...
There is nothing really needed more than what you just wrote:
1. Connect the XDA to the cradle and sync while the power is connected.
2. Run the EXE file and follow the instructions on the screen.
BTW, the EXE file should be at least 15 MB, seems your ROM was not "cooked" well .... try again
Ohh ok. I downloaded twice and all I got was 150kb. how will I know that the ROM i got is "cooked" well so I can be free of troubles. Can you just give me a link to the right/"well cooked" ROM? Thanks man.
One more thing, should I run the ROM EXE file while my device is synching or after the synch?
it's still 150 kb. Here's what it says when I view the log
./mkrom.sh: ../../kitchen.local/mkrom-inc.sh: No such file or directoryno files for configid 26220739Cannot fit files in given sectionsError splitting files
seems there is something wrong with the kitchen work space ... it happens sometimes ... no big issue.
You may try this kitchen as well http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/
P.S: run the EXE file after the device is synced
which one should I pick? Pocket PC 2002 ROM or Windows Mobile 2003 ROM. And what's the difference. Sorry for my ignorance. Thanks for the replies.
Biso,
Can I use an MMC card for flashing? I MIGHT be able to borrow an MMC card. Also, I dont have a card reader but I have a digital camera which I can use to transfer the ROM image from my desktop computer to the card. Would you think it would work? Thanks again man.
will the exe file below work for me?

Radio version: 6.18
Protocol version: 324e4
Pocket PC Version 3.0.12039 (Build 11178) (Don't know if this is 2002 or 2003 pocketpc)
Pls reply. thanks
Hi ...
1. As the figure tells, WM2003 is the latest than PPC2002.
2. I can recommend to use TMO 4.01.00 as I have it on my device for almost 3 months now with no problems so far (few things have to be tweaked tho), but I heard good news about AT&T 30.09 ROM as well.
3. I can't confirm that MMC can replace SD card. I saw some threads on this but no final results.
4. The answer is NO, the only way to move the NBF file to the SD card is either a card writer or by using XDAtools with the XDA cradle. I don't think the card will be recognized by the bootloader otherwise.
5. SER-V12 is a PPC2002 ROM and useful only if you need to unlock your device (which I believe it's already unlocked).
No I just want to unlock the device, that's it I don;t really want a ROM upgrade, just so happens that I need to have a ROM upgrade to unlock the device
SO I can use the SER-V12? Thanks a lot.

Unlock Siemens SX56 --AT&T

Hi, I am having a Siemens SX56 used on AT&T network and what to get it unlocked, here is my device information:
ROM Version: A.30.09 ENG
ROM date: 01/01/04
Radio Version A.33.02
Protocol Version 1.3.3
Model No. PW10b1
Any help is appreciated.
P.S. I also look for a Image tool can image my SX56 to my desktop nefore I try anything on it.
Unlocked SX56 only shows AT&T and T-Mobile as carriers
Unlocked the phone and when I put my Cingular SIM in, I wind up on the T-Mobile network. The phone only shows AT&T (which the phone was locked to) and T-Mobile as being available. I can call out on T-Mobile, but I dont want to appear to be roaming...
Any ideas?
Cingular uses 850mhz in some areas, the xda does not support this frequency.
OWn experience
Just want to thank the guys here made great programs.
I want to contribute my own experience:
The steps i took to unlock my phone:
1. Download the XDAtoll and install on an WINXP PC. After install a directory called XDAtool will be created under the C:\program files directory.
2. Use the XDAtools' OSImagetool to backuo the rom to my PC using the filename. Make sure it copies to the \Binaries directory
3. Download and execute the the special ROM developed by the xda developers here
4. At the first turn on of the XDA, get the phone unlocked as prompted by the pop up window in the XDA
5. run the command line OSImagetool.exe --register on my WInXP PC. Make sure there are two dashs
6. You must run the above step 5, otherwise you can not copy back your orginal rom back to your XDA
7. Launch the OSimage tool and copy back the file back to the device. DUring the process, the Program A.exe will start to do the whole process. Follow the instruction on this program.
Hope these steps help.
ok, I am seeing all this talk, but where can I find the software on the forum to unlock my Siemens.
I am seeing that it is the same as the one that unlocks the O2 XDA. How does this work, one software will unlock several phones OR am I just lost.
Someone help.
Thanks in advance

Unlock SIM (Pocket PC Phone Edition)

Hey Guys,
My friend gave me a pocket pc with phone edition. When I tried to insert my sim card it asked me to the unlock code. My friend used this mobile for T-Mobile sim card in US.
Here is the ROM Versino: 4.01.16 ENG
ROM Date: 02/04/04
Radio Version: 6.25.02
Protocol Version: 324e4
After typing my PIN code it asks me to unlok the sim.
What can I do to resolve this problem
Thanks,
bm_t
Try the XDA unlock tool. You can find it on the website.
I have unlocked tmobile using that tool. However if it gives you problems unlocking.... I would suggest installing the xda rom and then try.
I am going to unlock a new Tmobile on tuesday. If this does not work you can get in touch with me on any chat and I will walk you through the process.
lemme know if you need anymore help.
Cheers!
Diki
Thanks Diki for your reply.
I have tried XDA Unlock and XDA2Unlock but failed.
When I tried XDA2Unlock it reports some error like COM2 0X..... (Hex #)
You have seen my ROM version and Radio version. How do i install new xda rom .
I only have the USB cable. Do I need a serial cable?
thanks
As much as i know, it will not work for you to unlock your device.
xda2unlock is only for the second Version of XDA (MDA II, MDA II,...), so you have to use the xdaunlock tool.
there are several postingsa, that unlocking will fail with your radioversion.
Maybe they have changed the code in this version.
There is a guy (cgigate) that promise he is able to repair and unlock all devices, but personal i don't believe this.
i believe changing ROM will not change anything. But you can try it. Look for the XDA deelopsers special ROM 1.2 or use the 3.17.03 ROM and the unlock tool.
But flashing a device could be dangerous.
Changing the radioversion is also possible, but the risc to end ata paperweight is very high...

Hello LumpiStefan,
I have tried serveral times but I couldn't able to download the ROM.
Do I have to register or download some other application to download your ROM.
Here is what I did to download the ROM
After Entering ur site LumpiStefan, http://lumpistefan.dynsdns.org
I clicked PPC 2002 and select 3.17.03 with XDA developers (Default ).
and clicked 'Build Rom Now' button.
When I clicked 'Build Rom Now' button, the only thing that changes is the graphs (right hand side of the page). I have tried many times but only the graphs changes.
Did I miss something (some procedures or .....)
thank you for ur time
After clicking cook rom you should have the option to specify where to download it.

Hi LumpiStefan,
Thanks for ur reply.
I have checked both sites (i.e http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/ and http://xda.weblink.net)
I have tried also another rom but the same problme. I have tried to download the rom from Linux and win XP pc.
I have aslo downloaded http://cuba.calyx.nl/~jsummers/XDA/XDA-developers-SER-v12.exe
but when I executed this file from my win XP machine ( I have connected my XDA through USB cable and installed ActiveSync 3.7.1) it reports error (something like Unable to find the XDA Please connect Serial/USB cable)
I'm really really stuck with this phone
thanks
it seems that you don't followed the correct procedure.
This link it's a wizard and could help you: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/UnlockWiz
Hello Folks,
I have seen a post in form.xda-develpers.com that this file http://cuba.calyx.nl/~jsummers/XDA/XDA-developers-SER-v12.exe
will not work because my phone (i.e PC2003) (the adaptROM is not compatible with PC2003)
He said the only option to Unlock the SIM is only using this xdarit.exe application. Since my SD is 8 MB, I can't load the ROM with this space.
As far as I have seen the situation, my only option is getting the serial cable.
Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks

Hi,
Every time I run "XDA-developers-SER-v12.exe" I get a message, error getting data, and then the program close.
plz advise. thanks
'error getting data'
I had the same error. I read somewhere on one of these posts that
there was some capatibility between Programme A.exe and Activesync 3.7.1.
Apparently you could downgrade your activesync version or use XDATools to push the nk.nbf file down to an SD card and flash from there. Use winzip or something else to extract all the files in the SER installation exec. In the English folder you'll find the NBF file to use.
In XDATools put this as the Source, target is the SD card in the device. Go to bootloader utilities (power+soft reset and maybe press contacts) and depending on your bootloader version it may detect you have a flash image on your SD card. Follow the instructions on the pda to flash the rom.
Hi rhodwyn,
Thank you for your support, but still I cannot downgrade my "BootLoader" to "5.15" with every boot I'm geeting "5.22" even after loading the spocial edition ROM.
Also, I cannot find (XDArit & Wallaby bootloader version 5.15 files) in the neet.
Please advice.
Thanks.
Hi ALL,
I did unlock (SIM LOCK) my phon.
Thanks you all for help & support.

ROM Upgrade

Hi,
I have a T-Mobile Pocket PC Phone 2003.
Rom version: 4.01.16 ENG
Rom date: 02/04/04
Radio version: 6.25.02
Protocol version: 324e4
Wallaby Bootloader: V5.22
I am in a GSM 1800Mhz region while the phone has only 900/1900Mhz. I have read various reports that with a Firmware upgrade I can make the phone Tri-Band capable meaning 900/1800/1900Mhz. There have also been reports that this is a hardware feature which will not be effected by software upgradation. But I wanna still try. Firstly the phone was Simlocked by T-Mobile which I managed to unlock with a code given by their SimUnlock dept. believe it or not.
The problems / issues I am facing with this phone are:
1. Downloaded the XDAROM.exe with adaptROM.exe Program A.exe etc in it but it always stops at the dreaded -
ERROR: GetDeviceData - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.
error getting devicedata
For the above I have tried all the suggestions on this forum like hard booting (battery off/on), Select GSM900 in Wallaby Mode then reset, Remove Sim Card then Reset, Switch off Radio (which I presume is GSM) in Wallaby then reset. All options lead to the same error.
2. Tried backing up the current ROM in Bootloader Mode which it does and asks me to press the Action key. But when I reboot the device or remove the SD Card and plug it into a PC it says Card not formatted. The SD card
works under normal conditions transferring data to and fro and storing data.
3. Read that I can copy the .NB1 (update file) onto a SD card and on rebooting it should ask if I want to Flash the device with this new data but it never asks and reboots completely.
4. Wallaby mode is also supposed to Flash the device via USB if I press the record key I tried but the computer and device never connect.
5. Device does not ActiveSync always on docking very often I may need to reboot the PC and or the Device for them to talk.
6. Tried XDAUnlock. exe which gave me 'error getting unlock code'.
Any ideas people? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Andrew with no clever lines
In no particular order:
(1) 1800 MHz is a hardware feature. At best, playing with the firmware will make the phone think it can operate at 1800MHz, but it really can't without hardware changes. But hey, you already know that.
(2) When you dump the ROM to an SD card, it is dumped as an image, which overwrites any FAT formatting on the card. This is why you're getting the "Card not formatted" message on the PC. You need special PC software (XDATools -- available on this website, or XDArit) to access the ROM image on the card with the PC.
(3) In order to upgrade the XDA with an SD card, the firmware needs to be placed on the SD card as an image (the same format as #2 above). If you just did a PC file copy you used the wrong method. XDATools also does this function.
(4) Why are you trying to use XDAUnlock.exe when you've already unlocked your phone with the code from T-Mobile?
Hi,
Thanks I did finally realise what every one took for granted in this site that the ROM dumps on the SD were written in a proprietory image format not FAT format.
Am trying the entire exercise coz have read at enough places on the site that the phone can be cracked to be tri-band which is what I need for it to roam India. We have only 900Mhz at select locations and the rest is 1800Mhz. Can only but be hopeful.
The chronology for the unlock bit was off on my mail.
Basically I cant perform any updates to the phone via the adaptROM method because I feel Wallaby 5.22 has protection built into it and shuts down the connection. If I try to Downgrade the Wallaby to V5.15 using the bootloaderfix included XDATools I get the error listed below.
'C:\bootload\pput.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
ERROR: ITReadProcessMemory - Unspecified error
Unable to find flash info offset, cannot disable bootloader writeprotect
If I use XDArit V1.02 route to write via SD I get Failed to open Device \\.\PhysicalDrive7
Anyone got the older version of XDArit ??
Help people.
Thanks,
Andrew
I'm not as familiar with Bootloader version issues. My (old) unit was Version 5.15. I just got a replacement for it after I busted the screen, and the new one is Version 5.22. Maybe I'll learn more about bootloaders...
But LumpiStefan says he hasn't had problems using the SD card method with 5.22. I haven't played with the new phone yet, since it came with WM03.
Wouldn't it be easier for you to spend $100 (or so) on an unlocked 900/1800 phone?

Unlocking Siemens SX56

Hi,
First off, I am clueless, it is going to be apparent anyway, lol
I purchased a supposedly unlocked Siemens SX56 off ebay which is fully functional except when I put in my cingular sim card it says "SIM Lock: Please input unlock code:
SId:______________________"
So....I am trying to unlock it with a usb cradle using the XDA-Developers Special Edition ROM 1.2, & I cna follow all the steps untill I start to step 2 the release notes, it then opens "Warning 001: Power Adapter Not Plugged In Please plug the power adapter into your pocket pc" I don't have the travel charger that plugs into the cradle, is this necessary?
I also tried the XDAunlock but I don't think my system is new enough for that, b/c after I move the file to my XDA using active sync I can't open it on my pocket pc, it says "cannot find xda2unlock (or one of it's components) Make sure the path and filename are correct and all the required libraries are available."
What am I doing wrong...please help!
Thanks,
Megan
Also..
The Device Info is as follows:

Hi,
says "cannot find xda2unlock (or one of it's components) .....

Looks like you have used the wrong tool. xda2unlock is for himalaya device xdaunlock for the wallaby...
Anyway. i think this tool is not working with your currently installed ROM Version.
For flashing a new ROM to your device you need the cradle or an usb cable, that also powers your device. If you do not have this, you have to flash the device using the "SD-Card"-Method.
