anything wrong with the kitchen at yorch? - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

Is anything wrong with the kitchen at yorch? can't seem to get in...

I am also having problems with yorch.net. every time I select a base rom (and de-select add software ...) I get a 135KB file not the full 4MB file I need.

The kitchen was MIA on Sunday (maybe Saturday as well ) but now it looks like it's back.
There may also be an issue with one of the optional program selections - I can usually run the kitchen OK but others have reported 'missing file' types of errors when they try.
mma, I just ran a base 3.17.03 ROM with no add-ins and got a 14.5 MB .zip file download (~32 MB unzipped).

I have cooked and downloaded 3 roms today, very slow but the roms were fine.

all good now
btw, thanks to the xda-devs, eh? who's your santa? who's your santa?
and thanks for including starhub in the autoconfig list for singapore very happy you put the underdog in...
jo

The site is really slow and had some virus problems previously. I offered to host a kicthen with ALL of the ROMS but no one wanted to help me setup the kitchen.

Yes you are correct that the machine in itself is a bit slow. I am going to try to add some memory to it hopefully this weekend. The virus problem was in the antivirus clients and not the kitchen.

I stand corrected. Sorry about that.

NP. As far as the files if you need something I believe I had told you before to let me know what you need and I'll be happy to send you what I have. Just shoot me an email and let me know what files you need and I'll send them over, but I can't be much assistance in the linux world as I had a buddy of mine to do that part for me.

4.01.00 ups and downs or "it's out and free"

Ok people ...
since this one is spreading let's pull up a list of what you can or you cannot get with this one.
Version 4.20.0 (Build 13252)
RSU 6.24.01
The SIM software has a "Built Oct 14 2003" ...
AND YES !!! The Messenger is updated and it's working.
That's the first impresion.
So first step in the kitchen :
remember the params for the 4.00.21 ?
old stuff
wincever=4
start1=81740000
size1=00040000
start2=81c00000
size2=00300000
startbmp=81ec0000
startop=81c00000
that was over 3.4M of free space
NOW @ 4.01.00:
wincever=4
start1=81740000
size1=00040000
start2=81c00000
size2=00300000
startbmp=81ec0000
startop=81c00000
that is IDENTICAL
so ... again some space to fit our little "must have" apps.
Ya, but where do you get it
access info
thanks to ddevilx2 you can go to:
130.39.48.102 port 21
login tmobile password rom
Are there any kitchen's online where we can cook this up?
thanks in advance
obviously not "YET" ... since the only available is Yorch's ... and he's getting married ... you should probably start unsing your linux box or cygwin and set up your own.
it's fun :wink:
BALL & CHAIN :roll:
I've tried to set one up a couple of times to no avail. If someone wants to help me set one up I will host it at my expense. Let me know. I have all the 4.00.x ROMS and would like to make them all available.
BTW, I extracted the nk.nbf file from the exe so you don't have to change radio stacks.

very sweet! thanks decebal & ddevilx2
I tried that ftp site and it likes tmobil okay but not the password rom....any suggestions?
Worked for me 20 min ago
it is exactly as the post says: tmobil/rom
as opposed to t-mobile or T-Mobil/ROM or some such?
got it...its Tmobile/rom for those of you who have yet to try.
UGH. I think I just blew up my T-Mobile Pocket PC Phone. I downloaded the 4.01.00 per this thread and tried installing. During the radio stack upgrade it said "upgrade failed". The windows app came up with a message that said that I could recover from it by removing the usb cable and resetting the device. The upgrade should then recover. It never recovers though - I get as far as "Welcome to T-Mobile Test Only Not For Sale", with the version information showing as:
G
R
4.00.21
Never makes it past that. I tried the hard reset button as well with no luck.
I realize that this is the risk I take, but can anybody help???
Thanks!
Not sure what you can do.
BE WARNED PEOPLE that an .exe install is the RISKIEST way to update your device. Do an SD card method instead.
Can anyone tell me if this ROM (4.01.00) is for 900/1800 MHZ or 900/1900 MHZ devices?
TIA,
Max
All I saw on the FTP server is the exe file, is there a nbf file?
Just open the .exe with winrar or winzip, then you just extract the .nb file or more if you wish. Anyone have a listing of the differences with this ROM?

OK, IVE BEEN HERE
RESET DEVICE, PUT ON CHARGER [NOT CONECTED TO PC, JUST CHARGING], AND JUST LEAVE IT THERE... DONT DO ANYTHING, IT WILL LOAD, AFTER LIKE 30 MINZ OR SO :mrgreen:
WHEN OS LOADS, DELETE THE 4 RS UPGRADE FILES FROM WINDOWS DIR.
THEN IF U WANNA GIVE IT ANOTHER TRY, DECOMPRESS THE 4 FILES FROM THE *.EXE FILE AND MANUALLY PLACE EM BACK TO WINDOWS DIR. ... AND IF NO LUCK, GO WITH ATT STACK, LOW FAILURE RATE (as i am told) 8)
Ok I feel stupid, man that was easy.

Copy files from ROM ?

Hi,
I'm trying to get around the problem of the quiet sound with the AT&T rom, I have another XDA running the latest T-Mo rom and was hoping to mess around with some dll's from the TMo rom to see if I could sort the problem, but the drivers used for the sound are protected somehow in the rom, so it won't let me copy them to my SD card or PC (which means I can't try it on the AT&T rom)
Is there any way of copying these files out ? and then into the AT&T rom ??
Cheers
Neil
see dumprom
No good for me then, I only have Windows Machines here..
Ok, I have thought of a possible work around, but I need someone with the T-Mobile WM2003 Rom (Pref 4.01.16) & Linux/Unix to copy the wavedev.dll & waveapi.dll from the \Windows folder and send them to me so it can try it out..
I'm sure its not only me that this "feature" annoys. it makes Tomtom especially useless on the voice prompt side of things.
Cheers
Neil
?? I don't see the problem, dumprom is a windows tool.
in case you had not found it yet, I added the link to the binary to the wiki page.
Ah right, excellent.
Sorry I assumed it was the same as the makerom tool which states its unix/linux.
-=edit=- I just tried the link on the dumprom wiki page, and get the dreaded 404 error
Thanks
Neil
oeps. a common wiki error, I forgot to '~'-escape the '~' in the url.
Thanks mate, it seems to be working now
I'll have a play about with it when I get home.
Cheers
Neil
Back again :lol:
The dumprom app crashes (tried on two machines) when I try to execute it. I have tried it with various command line configuations but the little windows xp error box pops up saying that the program must be closed
dumprom crash
Hi Swifty
Yeah I got this too - until I realised that I was the problem. I was omitting the myrom.nb1 filename (or whatever you have called yours) from the command line! D'Oh! What is your exact command line that you use?
it is known to be buggy and crash on certain roms.
I am working on an improved version in perl - dumpxip.pl
but it does not extract files stored as 'xip' yet.
:lol:
Silly me I done the same thing as you and omitted the rom file.. thanks
I have now extracted the AT&T and TMobile roms and compared the files, the AT&T's wavedev.dll is larger in size, I think this is where the modifications were made.. but I can't rebuild the TMo version into the AT&T rom because I don't use linux
Hopefully someone can help me out and we will finally have a perfect WM2003 Rom -=edit=- IF it works :lol: :roll:
Cheers
Neil
Carefull!
i fearbthat just swapping in the new dll may not help... it may have other dependancies that also need changing. The interface / entry points may also have changed and you may need a whole slew of other stuff and some other registry settings too. But pls go ahead and try... let us know!

Neil,
Use CYGWIN it's an excellent "Linux running as a command line in Windows" environment. It's easy to install, start and run commands. It comes up as a DOS box-like interface and Voila! You have Linux, stable, clean and fast, including the ability to build ROMs.

Aplication to patch any Magician ROM to bigStorage ones!!

If you want to patch any ROM like the one of Alex Anansky...
...download my aplicatión and do it now!!
It's so easy... read the instructions in the file "HowTo.txt".
Bye ;-)
Something tells me that something's fishy here.
Some guy from nowhere with only 4 posts comes up with a "breakthrough" utility and doesn't give any explanation but "download my aplicatión[sic]... Bye!"
The attachment's removed now (not by me).
OK... you lose it...
If somebody want's it... Follow this...
http://www.todophonedition.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=4808#4808
It's a spanish site about PhoneEdition PDA's... I moderate the programing forum.
Bye
MKS,
could you explain more on how it works!
I apologize if I sounded harsh, but this site has gone through a lot of problems from individuals repeatedly deleting things off the FTP, spamming or advertising for porn in the threads, and more.
This site needs to be moderated or protected a little better if it's going to thrive. It needs good people with good understanding, patience, and the willingness to share so we can get things that our manufacturers are not providing properly.
So, thank you for the attachment and link as I will test it out shortly.
Now come on, tell us something about you and how you did it. Or did you only find it yourself? If so: where?
So with this i can add and remove any Ext rom i want?
If that so, then its great!! now i can add IIWPO and Ext rom?
Can i?
the strange thing is if i rename any file to rom.nb1 and run the program, it will create a file with the size of 63MB rom file... is that normal MKS?
Just remember that the NB1 file will have to be 64MB since your Magician/JAM's ROM size is 64MB and it will SD-flash everything, from the CE portion to the Radio to the Extended ROM and Storage area.
Oh! it is necessary to obtain a Microsoft Certificate to upLoad some aplicatións here? :lol:
OK... I do not send many mensages in this forum... but I have been reading it for a long time... watch my date of registry. :wink:
Well, first... The size of the file is correct. Magician ROM does not occupy exactly 64Mb.
When you download the ROM to one 64Mb SD card, a few bytes at the end are single to fill the SD size. But these bytes are not necessary.
The ROM really finishes in the string "HTCE" before arriving at the 64 Mb.
I have trimmed the resulting file to do it easier to handle.
OK...This is everything at the moment. This weekend I have much work... In the next week I tell more to you.
It is possible that I even sends the source code to you too :wink:
Bye.
thanx alot for the HOWTO-method on "bigStorage" 8)
you have compared between original nb1 and the hacked one then you figured out the Anansky's code

Yes, something similar to that... But it's not so simple. I need some info from the xdaDevelopers WIKI's too. And a lot of tests over my Magician with diferent ROM versions & languages.
Probably in the next week I will upload the source code.
Bye :wink: .
Great job dude :wink:
I'm downloading the file now... and I can't wait to create my own BIG-Storage ROM
cheers

Hi MKS,
I tried yr program on my Imate w/ Traditional Chinese "Dopod818_1110_153_11100_Ship" Rom and it doesn't work.
Steps that I did
1. Back up the Dopod TC rom to my 256mb SD using romupdate.exe w/ d2s command
2. use ntrw to write the rom on my hd
3. using yr program to modify the rom
4. write the modified rom back to the SD
5. The Jam report Section = 1 error and doesn't start the flash
6. Therefore, I copy the first 416 byte from the original Dodpod TC to the modified rom
7. The Jam start flashing. But after it reach 100%, it report download error and checksum error.
Now, I need to roll back to my original rom.......
Rgds,
Jack
Has anyone successfully used this to make a bigstorage ROM?
im having trouble backing up my original rom. after the the check sum ok part i took the sd card out of the phone and into a card reader. i run the ntrw read backup.nb1 f: and it gave me an error. it says "cyclic redundancy check" i see that on drive see it has created a file called backup.nb1 but it is 0 bytes. does anyone know what im doing wrong?

Also just to let you know that I forgot to patch 416 bytes from O2 ROM into MKS ROM but it worked OK (cuz this is the first time I flashed ROM for my O2 mini ). Now I will do it again after patching 416 bytes from O2 ROM. Will let you know how I go...

ROM Kitchen for Herald

Here is a new rom kitchen which also can be used for Herald roms.
Anichillus is working on it to make it completely automatic for Herald. At the moment some files have to be copied manually - but it works.
Just have a look at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=309562
really really sweet, anichillus, awesome! but i'll wait for the Herald compatibility first
Thats definitly good news for the Herald community
Yeah it already works great. I used it to create a wm6 rom based off the wing os dump and it couldn't be easier (coming from a first time cook). I definitely recommend giving it a whirl if you're interested.
Guys, sorry i said that i will upload your kitchen today...but i might not
I think i have been hacked ...so the website doesn't work, and i lost all my stuff cos i had to format my PC (it wouldn't start lol)...I downloaded the one i customised for the hermes and i will start modding on yours, but it might take little more so i don't know if i can finish it today considering i have some personal stuff to do...
Untill then, tell me what RUU to include in yours...or other method for flashing ?
For now it was only meant to be installed in the system drive...and most of us have that drive only for windows.. So i figured that if i am going to modify it, i might as well make it path free so you can install wherever you want...and that also eats little time...
Cheers

Here you are. It is the Aserg-Zip folder only containing teh programs for flashing (perhaps you can delete some unused ones) and i deleted the OS.nb. But the RUU doesn´t work for herald.
An sorry for your PC - don´t get in trouble.

my first winmobile app - number formatter

Dunno if this should go here or not... anywho...
I was bored today and been wanting to learn C# and .NET CF for a while, so here the first version of my first app....
I got sick of how it stores new numbers by default (i guess depending on the rom you'll get +61.... or just 0433......) and I have some international numbers and the whole thing is a mess, so what this does is it tries to match.
its all based off a rules file which you will find in the .cab
.. so how it works is like this... there is a rule "+614xxxxxxxx:04xx xxx xxx"
so that will take any number that starts with +614 and is followed by 8 numbers an change it to store as 04 with the numbers spaced like they normally are.
The rules are tried in order, lines starting with a # are comments (I've included 7 rules which converts all aussie numbers to how they are normally represented)
So, when the program is started it will run through your contacts and try out every number (which might take a few seconds). Any that it finds will get shown in a nice tree where you can check the numbers you want stored permanently.
you can get the .cab here and it needs CF.NET 3.5
Spoiler
I seriously hope there wasn't a inbuilt way to do this....
I'm probably going to release the source once its cleaned up a bit, but untill then, leave a reply if you want it.
Also, is there a nice regex which can do this?
Oh, the rules are mostly for Australian "standards" so you will probably need to fiddle to get them working well for you... paste your local rules and I'll add them
Let me know what you think.
your announcement would do much better in the devers part located here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=260
maybe one of the mods want to move this topic, so the author gets more feedback?
the cab file won't install on my Elfin
more info? have you got CF.NET 3.5 installed?
I may have stuffed up the cab (although it works fine on my kaiser...) http://jdgordon.info:8080/~jonno/numberformatter.zip is the exe and the needed rules.txt file, just make sure they are both in the same folder and it should work
bump to get some feedback (threads move too quickly here )

BTW i also wrote an application similar to this but is specifically for Philippine users.

I guess I stuffed up the cab setup bit in VS... does the exe in the zip I linked work? the cab does nothgin except put the exe and rules.txt into the programs folder
