XDA II in my local o2 shop - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

My local o2 shop have XDA II's in stock at £350 with a new contract sadly even though the upgrade is only £350.00 too and I get to keep my XDA (WOW) I havent been with o2 12 months so I cant do it yet (Sulk)

hi mate any idea on how much per month? im 17 and want something cheap per month lol.
i can afford the xda2 just dont think i could handle the contract
gaz

Not sure I didn't ask but I guess it would be the £25.00 per month one plus some data package as they all tend to be pop into your local store or ring them I'm sure they will know better than me
Carl

ill think ill leave the xda2 lol im gonna go for this instead
http://www.mobileburn.com/news.jsp?Id=505

Looks nice enough but the screen seems a little small, also no mention of Bluetooth a much needed part of any phone these days.
But each to his own good luck with it
Carl

yeah ive also looked around no monetion on touchscreen :| cant live without touchscreens now lol so XDA 2 it may be

also if you want a xda 2 try get intocuh with this guy......
dunno if its legit or not ive been chatting to him via email hes from east yorkshire in hull he says it near leeds but hes selling XDA 2 for £160 delivered but he has no obligation of you going to pick up. i live to far away to see if its for real
his page on ebay is:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3357936944&category=3312
but he seems to be hesitating on his address :\
lmk if you get intouch and find anything out

Hmmmm!
I suspect that these units are off the back of a lorry or something. It's just tooo cheap.
The guy's ID on eBay also has no rating, no feedback, and is not a verified user. You'd be MAD to buy from him without further info. I'm going to watch these bids closing out with interest...

yeah but if you live not far away its worth a try the guy said he has had 100 units and now oly has 30left! not suprised at this price.
even if they weref rom back of a lorry who cares lol you didnt know they were nicked init
even if it gets blocked £160 for a 400mhz bluetooth pda not bad
gaz

The main problem is he has no rating on Ebay you may send money to his Paypal account and get nothing I've emailed him a number of times and got ... well lets just say odd replies.
I'd warn you all to be very careful indeed I've been had once before on Ebay and never recovered my money.
Having said that if one of you get one from him and its gen please contact me on my mobile number as I'll be away 07866 739331 and I'll get one too lol. (just realized I'm kind of saying you lot can take a chance SORRY) lol

Can you tell me what you mean by "odd replies"?

Don't want to put anything down here I could be complained at for, but I do a lot of business on ebay and it just seems to good to be true.
Lets face it the o2 shops are only just getting these in and they want £350.00 on contract why would anyone have 100 (now 30) and be willing to sell them sim free for £160.00 delivered look at his other auctions too they are all top of the range phones.
Normally if it seems to be too good to be true it is.
Carl

I was offered several of these machines from this ebay seller and when I said that I worked in a nearby town and offered to call to collect the phones, the emails dried up and I've had no further contact since yesterday. I suspect this is a con.

i have a house phone number and his addy :| i just need someone to go check it out
hes from hull
ronald morgan his name is also there are 2 other peeps.
3 total are running it:
Carl Wilburn, Andy Lill and Ronald Morgan.
not had replies from the other guys but ron seems to be alrite but i dont se ehow he can do them that cheap :\
anyone want his info lmk and ill send you it so you can go investigate and if true lmk and ill be on my way down in an instant lol (about a 4hour drive)

With the name/address, you could look at the electoral role to verify....something like UKINFO 2003 or www.192.com might help....

Just for information, I have been in contact with this ebay seller today. I've reserved two of these machines. Hull is only a hour drive from where I am, I have suggested that I pick them up from him directly. Just awaiting his email back, will let you know what happens.
Regards,
Chris

yeah he even said i could go pick them up too....
but its over 4hours drive away from where i am so its a no go
gaz

gazzaman - I'm in Hull right now please send me the address and I'll check it out.

pmed you it mate let us know the outcome if you can go just ask if he is selling them and if you could have alook at one or somthing

Universals on E bay

Why are there so many for sale - advertised new and going for about 70 euros.
Is there a problem with them.
Do they need to be unlocked.
I was going to buy one at that price as a spare/to try mods on.
Steve
I have one for sale if you are interested, it has been opened, but all items are still sealed and un used. £380 (Boxed & Mint condition) if you are interested, I live in Bedfordshire, the unit is unlocked and contract free.
Sound suspiciously 'Nigerian' no me.
If it's too good to be true & if it's on ebay.....
say no more, don't be a mug UNLESS YOU'RE 10,000% SURE!
Andy
PS
Put it this way, you won't get a BUST one for under 140 quid (and i'm NOT including the marked up postage costs). Without a box in good working condtion, £300. Boxed & Mint, >£400, so go figure at 70E.
I got mine Bust for £80 - dozy tosser mislisted it - ha my bargain. 1/2 hour later fixed the damn thing. Friggin mint condition t'boot.
BTW, I'll bet my bottom dorrar that the seller is Chinese....
And I'll place another bet, I bet the listing will won't last long....

A new universal for 70 euros... mmmm i'll have ten units please; unlocked or not...
It is probably a scammer selling these 'items' under someone elses account.
I got mine on Ebay for 420 pounds. I'm in australia and you'd be lucky to get it for 600 pounds here. works like a charm. of course AFTER i upgraded with the JasJar ROM and burnt O2's software
I bought one on eBay for GBP 414, but the seller reneged -- he said he could not get the phone from his supplier. I quoted him eBay policy on selling items that are not already in possession of the seller. He was apologetic, and said this is the first time it's happened (his feedback shows previous Universal sales which were successful). He has a 99.7% feedback rating, with 358 positives and 1 negative from long ago. He said he's going to refund me, but has to wait for a bank transfer to clear PayPal, since he already transfered the money out of PayPal. Sounds suspicious. But I have PayPal buyer protection (for what it's worth), and I used my credit card. I will give him time, and if he still doesn't refund, I'll go through the non-selling seller process.
So I bought from a different seller for GBP 431, and I am waiting for it.
So many of these Universal auctions say "opened only to inspect" or "opened only to test", that it sounds suspicious.
Also, many of them say "unwanted upgrade", as if they were mailed a free phone and just want to get rid of it. Does O2 mail free Universals as upgrades?
Don't buy Universals on eBay unless the seller has 99+% feedback > 100, and the auction is covered under the "Free PayPal Buyer Protection". Look at their feedbacks, and what they bought/sold earlier. Pay with PayPal, and use a credit card as the funding source.
'free' at £75/month, min term 18months.
So if you consider £1400 free, then yes, they're 'free'.
Anyway, rules of ebay are:
1) It's a sellers market
2) Don't be greedy or you'll get a deserved bite in the ass
3) Supply & demand rules the roost.
4) research research research
5) READ FEEDBACKS & APPLY A BIT OF NOUNCE!!!
Hunt around for mislisted items - takes time but jeeeez the bargains I've scooped! Hence:
6) You put the effort in, you get the rewards out.
Andy
I had a look at those 70Euro Universals.
Seller from overseas? Check
Selling price way too low? Check
Seller doesn't take paypal? Check
1 day auction? Check
Seller's username appears randomly generated? Check
New seller account with feedback of around 10? Check
Feedback comments all left in a very short time interval? Check
Feedback comments brief and unlike genuine feedback? Check
Feedback left by 10 feedback, randomly generated usernames? Check
Initial bid from 10 feedback, randomly generated username? Check
So it rates 10/10 on the scammometer! But what the hell - bid on it anyway!
ROFL!
Yep, came across one of these & was about to flag it as a scam & as I was looking, it got removed!!!

IMO neither of those are suspisious. It means i have a better chance of getting a working unit. And just because someone got a free upgrade and does not state it does not make the listing any more legit.
I sold a spare XDA Exec on ebay which i acttually got as a cheap upgrade but not free. My wife prefers her existing phone. I knew it had a good chance of going out of the UK so for me to not check it would be madness. I wanted to list it as Sim Free i could not do that without physically checking. Plus i could not list it as working if i did not know that fior sure.

Yes this does happen a lot. O2 want to keep your business so at the end of your contract you are eligble for an upgrade to tie you up again for 12 or 18 months. They look at your history and if you have spent a lot of money with them on calls you get lots of offers. The more you have spent the better the offers. A lot of people are happy with there existing phone but know they could make a lot of money selling the new one.

Yes this is another bad problem with ebay. You have the option to remove bidders and to cancel the auction early to the highest bidder. You can only do this up until 12hrs before the auction ends. When i sold mine i waited to just before the 12hrs deadline and accepted the highest bidder i considered genuine based on their location and feedback that had an agreeable price for me. I was not out to make as much as i could get but just a fair price.
This worked well for me.

I always offer refunds on DOA equipment. Be sure to write down the serial number and put it in the auction, or someone might trade their defective unit for yours.

Hi,
I got my Vodafone V1640 for 330 GBP on eBay.
The seller accepted PayPal but anyway I spent a few days worried about not getting the phone.
It took 4-5 days till I received it.
Unfortunately it is locked to Vodafone UK and I want to use it with Vodafone Portugal.
No luck till now for the unlock code...
Cheers
I have over 900 + feedback on ebay and I always buy from those who have Buyer protection if its over £100. Bought my exec back in dec/jan this year from a guy who had 2 for sale for £385. The first had a screen calibration problem as if it'd been dropped. Sent him an email and he promptly sent me his other one just as soon as I sent him the first back. Since then absolutely no problems.
Also I always mention when selling that any1 with less than 5 + feedback will have their bids removed. I make sure I'm logged in for the last minutes of the auction in case I get sum1 with less then 5 feedback messing around. And I sure have had to cancel a few bids in the last few minutes. HTH
Consider this
£378 will buy a XDA Exec direct from O2's site brand new.
This is £150 for the XDA & 12 * monthly cost of £19
(which includes 50 anytime mins per month.)
Puts some of the £400-£500 Buy it Now deals in perspective.
Well in the UK at least.

Broken screen-where to fix? Or.. CHEAPEST new EXEC?

Hi!
I've got crack on my screen- and you wan't belive me, but nothing has happen! I haven't drop this PDA, nothing elese in the pocket, I haven't seat on that pocket etc.. Just opened AND..
Anyway, I've to fix this ASAP
What are my options? Propably it is not covered by warranty so it is pointless (imho) to speak to them.
Who can fix this? How much do I've to pay?
Or, what's the cheapest option now to buy new EXEC?
Any ideas? Or... maybe I can buy just screen and someone can repalce this?
Thanks for your help!
Cheers,
Chris
Easy enought to swop yourself - screens are approx £130, but give the o2 helpline a call for a fitted quote to see what they offer as this will maintain warranty on the device.
Is it the LCD or digitiser itself that has broken? (Ink splodge or crack? )
Richard
Thanks for your quick reply!
Unfortunatly LCD (touch screen is still working).
Yes, I'll give them a call today.
£130 is NOT THAT MUCH to be honest.

That's the screen cost from Taipei after shipping and tax - o2's price is likely to be higher.
Richard
Thanks!
Yes, I know O2 will be around £185...
Why it is so expensive ? 30% just for the screen...
Is there any chance to fix this under warranity?

They are charging you to *fit* it as well. No chance under warranty methinks but maybe if you bought the insurance now and claimed in 6 - 8 weeks? ;-)

Screen Broken
My Exec screen also cracked (round the back) It was in my pocket and certainly hadn't been dropped and the case was unmarked and the front of the screen was unmarked So I cant see that it had been knocked or crushed. They replaced it free of charge as a 'gesture of goodwill' - Having said that I have the o2 gold insurance so I wasnt going to pay anyway.
Sadly it took them over a month to get me a replacement, despite numerous calls and emails, so at the end of the contract I wont be going back to O2.
I wonder if this screen thing is in fact a manufacturing problem rather than user error. It might be worth saying that 'you've heard that other users have experienced cracked screens...'

A manufacturing fault and just being vulnerable to damage are not the same thing, sadly. They don't usually break unless you leave them in the cold / in your back pocket as you sit down / face open in your pocket with your keys etc etc. If the digitiser stops working on loads of units with no intervention - that's a manufacturing fault, but lots of people breaking the LCD's? might be easily done - but ultimatley their own fault either by carelessness or accident. My advice - buy a case!
Richard
( who puts all his pda's in his back pocket and sits down on them with his fat ass with no issues so far )
My exec was in O2 for a repair for bloody 8 weeks !!! (it arrived today...).
I had pleased them, mail and phone-bomb them, threatened them to death and court, but they still have pissed on me from the high...
So, my conclusion > NO FING WAY that I`ll give my Exec to O2 again....
Not speaking about that 185 pounds they wanted BEFORE they repaired it (like second week they had it)...
8 weeks?
Paying 185 quid for repair and wait 8 weeks???
Wow, thanks for that post...
Anyway, thank you for all your replys- I've got one more question.. can some1 give an email address to Service dept please? I've tried yesterday to call them but line was busy (
Thank you for your support!
Cheers!
Chris
I've also had this problem - the screen crack looks to me as though it's at the point which gets stressed the most when the screen is flipped around during opening. The warranty expressly excludes cracked LCDs. Which has to give you a clue...
My advice - if you ever buy one do it on a credit card with insurance which covers it. Mine is paying for the repair.
Hi Alec,
I've got this EXEC as a upgrade so they just charged my account (direct debit). Also, I've got just HSBC CC and there is no inssurance.
The other thing is- sales agent FORGOT to add this £5 insurance to my account!!! Also, he should change my tarif- which wasn't done
So I'm very upset with o2 sales agents
My next contract will be propably with T-MOBILE (I'm half German so... )
Cheers!

Richard,
I remeber agent's name - Nick. His extension number was 21SOMETHING AFIK Do they record every call? For haw long do they keep them?
Anyway, is too late...
Soo, i'm ready to pay this £185- but I'd like to mek sure that this screen fill be fixed withn let say 1-2 weeks MAX!
Thanks anyway...
Chris
Dunno how long they keep the records, but if he did the upgrade his name and the time will be on the notes for your account as he'll want the commision - at least ask operator X who did the upgrade and what extension (nicely) than ask operator Y to speak to 'Nicks' supervisor as he didn't add the insurance you asked for - it may even be detailed in the notes anyway as I would think they get commision for that as well.
Richard
DAMN,..I GOT THE SAME PROBLEM!!
I always carried my device very carefull. Yesterday I opened the device and the screen was cracked. nothing on the outside, only the screen had a crack and is useless now. I had to send it to T-Mobile since my garentee is one year (sorry for the bad english)
Very strange,.. is seems like the screen can crack without bumping it to something.
Arjan
Arjan,
I'm so sorry to hear this... And as far I know they wan't fix this under warranity Anyway, TRY!
Also, can you please ask them how much they are going to charge you and let me know?
Many thanks and goodl luck with this one!
Cheers!
Well,.
I phoned up T-mobile NL. and they said I might be under warrenty, since the device is less than one year old. The sent me an enveloppe for the device to sent back. So I did yesterday, including the ticket I got when I bought the device.
I would take 10 days (they said) to fix it and sent back. If it woudn't fall under warrenty the device would be sent back fixed with a bill...
I really hope it will be fixed without having to pay. I was really carefull with it...
Arjan
Hmm, I'm not that careful- I've got some scratches...
Anyway, it was VERY expensive weekend (I had to cancel my trip Germany- Lufthansa, only taxes refunded, canceled car hire reservation, broken screen in my PDA, ALMOST crashed my mondeo, some other unplaned expenses) so 200 more is not a big deal
M8, hopefuly they will fix your PDA for free
let me know please!
Cheers!
Chris
I understand guys..what u all are going thru..my screen has broken not once but twice..n like some of u guys mentioned i had never put any stress on my device...still it broke..for the first change, i had to pay( i fought with imate management but they didnt do anything..i have a post about our conversations) but second time, i just sent them a single email and they changed my screen for free.
Too b honest, i feel imate jasjar have some design issues...just like a blot appearing on keypads(extreme top left n right side) because the cushion padding is not effective.
What ill suggest, we should get together and email these people..however iknow that wont have much effect but still..it might have some effect..

I STOOD ON MY XDA EXEC :: Q's about insurance

Hi I have looked on the forums and have found a bit about phone insurance. I stood on my XDA exec ( I know what a c**k) its knackered. The screen has popped the silver bit on the back has come up in one corner and the flip / rotate mech snapped so the screen flaps about in the wind.
Yes I was drunk
Yes I am stupid
Yes I have made a claim.
I have sent it in today to LSG (lloyds tsb phone insurnace). From looking at other web sites my concerns are as follows :-
1) They will not be able to get the parts to repair the exec.
2) If they replace my phone they will not be able to get an O2 one (I know the imate is the same but I like it in black).
From what I have read elsewhere people have had a real issue getting top of the range PDA's fixed (unless its by the network insurance when they mostly get new ones) Most of the time people get offerd a cash settlement.
Has anyone else claimed through Lloyds phone insurance or any other 3rd party insurance and got a replacement phone ?
If they want to settle for a cash sum. How much should it be ??
any help on this would be good ???
Have edited my first post to be more specific. Anyone ??
here is the answer to anyone who is interested. they tried to get me to take a nokia n91 or n80. I said no.
told them I wanted an exec or the cash. after about 10mins of holding ect I got a supervisor who tried to tell me how good the 91 was. I still said the same. put on hold again.
they came back on and said your exec is in the post.
here's the deal. full new boxed o2 xda exec.
I got my first on in feb 05. this one feels much more solid. the screen flip is much tighter it has come with new rom installed. seams faster.
phone signal is better.
the whole unit seams much more soild than the first one??
could it have been that my first unit was a recon ?
anyway very happy
It seams I spoke to soon. The screen has started to flicker (brown lines jumping all over the place) this is very random but the unit has done it about 5 times now.
It will have to go back.
Can I ask for Cash instead of a new phone ??
Phoned them. Sending it back.
Will make me a cash offer when the get the phone back.
Think im going to go back to Ipaq. Had nothing but problems with this phone.
Hi I have just had my claim paid up by the same insurance (lloyds bank) They told me they do not have any xda replacements and would either give me a nokia n91 or cash settlement I went for the cash they paid me £450 for a xda IIs (ba) £450 is the maximum they pay out so you would more than likely get the same.
I have been informed by a supervisor today that the max they will pay out is £600. They use GSMarena.com to price up what they pay out. Universal costs around 550 - 650 GBP depending on where you look.
The girl on the phone said they will price it on the day the get the damaged one they sent me back. They have 3 suppliers (she would not name them) and they take the average as the units value. I would think they then knock a bit off.
I expect at least £500.
andytl
How quickly did they pay you. I have read on other sites it takes them ages to sort it out.
If you look on there website it states a maximum figure of £450 I doubt they will go over it.
I am a platinum account holder and should be covered up to 600 GPB
We will see I will post when I find out.
Lloyds TSB insurance
Hi!
I've claimed for 2 Xda2i machines that I lost via lloyds TSB insurance which is part of my gold account. each time they've been great at sorting things out for me.
My last claim they informed me they had no replacements and so like others have already mentioned, went for the cash settlement. They paid me £450.
You can only claim twice in every yearly period so I've used up my 'allocation' as it were! I'll ring them next to see when I'm allowed to claim again if needs be. To minimise my risk, I've started carrying my phones in aluminium cases, in my pocket where they cannot fall out and get lost/broke screens again !
I recommend lloyds tsb insurance via lifestyle services group - quick hassle free insurance !
Cheers! Dennis! West London UK!!
Well got the call today. £569.00 offered and taken.
Going to jump ship to ipaq hw6915 here I come.
Ill no doubt be back.

Okay....now I have a dilema.

To cut a long story short.....
I ordered an unlocked Dell Streak direct from Dell about 2 weeks ago.
For some reason the order got messed up halfway through the process and was stuck in their system.
I called approx 5 days ago and they had to manually 'push' the order through.
However I didn't see any change in the order status therefore I re-ordered another Dell Streak that night.
Dell contacted me the day after asking if it was an additional order or a replacement order.
I informed them this was a replacement for my original order as the first hadn't been processed correctly.
I have paid for 1 Dell only.
I have had 2 Dells delivered.....unlocked
What do I do?
I voted number 3 haha
If they realised do you think you would have to send it back?
I'll buy one from you
How do you order them online unlocked? I thought even the 550$ ones were locked?
hmmm, i would vote but i'm torn between 3 and 4
I'd wait a month or so and see if Dell ask for it back (they can legally take it back or make you pay for it, if they notice that is)
If you hear nothing then keep it/sell it and do what you want with the proceeds. I'd love it if you gave it all to charity, but if i was in your situation... I dunno. I'd like to think i'd give it to charity, but i probably wouldn't. I need the money
Can't believe i was the only one so far who voted 4
A sad indictment of the folks of today
Same thing happened with me with Western Digital - had ordered a 1TB external drive nad due to some confusion got delivered 2 - now have two of them for 8-10 months !
Dont bother informing - hold on to it and if noone gets back to you in 3-4 months - sell it !
Charity gets my vote in 3 to 4 months and Help The Heroes is a good one
dont do anything for about a month. if they end up charging you later, then have them take the second one back and refund your money. if they dont contact you about getting two are charge for the second one after a month, you can sell it or give it away as a gift or whatever you want. chances are if they dont care after that long, they just dont care. (this was my policy with phones from att )
Contact Dell and ask them to collect it. Anything else is theft and you leave yourself open to criminal action. At the very least you need to contact them and ask them to collect it within a reasonable period (say 28 days) after which you reserve the right to sell the item to defray storage costs...
You wouldn't shoot a policeman, and then steal his helmet! You wouldn't go to the toilet in it! You wouldn't mail it to the policeman's grieving widow, and then steal it again!

Whooaaa.! there my friend, that's a little harsh!
Remember, I HAVEN'T stolen it, it was sent to me.
I can't remember walking into Dell and taking out with me.

While his analogy was completely stupid and had nothing to do with the thread topic - he is right, you did steal it.
You didn't pay for it and aren't notifying the company of their error.
If it were me, I would keep it. I would also wait a month or so to see if I get charged. Inventory on bigger companies is usually pretty good.
i hope u sell it or w/e n the police knock on ur door 6 months later
idk man. you lucked out. just lay low. its not your fault.
Do what you know in your heart is right. Send it back to Dell.

If you don't give it back, it becomes theft -- don't fool yourself. Do the right thing and return it, but let Dell pay for shipping, of course.
If you do send it back to dell, make sure they pay you for all the 'trouble' you went though and all hundreds of dollars of storage it cost to keep it in your house.
I had a similar thing with my ps3. I bought it and a crap controller.
I sent the controller back (cause it was crap) they reimbursed me for both the playstation and controller.
I hadnt noticed this until got a number of emails that were slightly aggressive (i think they were trying to act forceful) so I made them wait. I paid them back though.
Although it is something of a grey area with regards to prosecution (ie iam not sure they can do anything but ask for it back-although I would check this) it is still classed as dishonest. So what to do......
Do what you feel is right.
Its really down to the type of person you are

pfft, luck is very hard to come by in this world so enjoy yours. i had this happen to me when i brought my acer netbook. they messed up order, canceled one and reopened another order. but when it arrived i had two. i kept em both happily
haha i had the same thing happen with an xbox 360.
long story short, 360 got the RROD sent it in, had some issues with microsoft tech support and ended up getting 2 back in the mail
Still have both of them and both are running strong!
I would just keep it until they ask for it back. After 3 to 4 months I would do whatever I want with it. sell it, keep it, use it as a test streak for any new roms, apps, or anything else that you may want to put on your other streak. That way you will know how it wil impact the device.

My Streak's package was delivered empty!

Honestly, I'm more than dissapointed! I waited more than 3 weeks for the Streak from Dell, and when it finally arrived, the internal box WAS EMPTY!
I'm calling Dell's customer support AS I type this, and 25 minutes later, after giving all my details to 2 different foreign reps, they still do not tell me anything about this!
When mine came, the micro SD card was missing. I called Dell and they did not give me any hassle at all, they shipped me a replacement - no problem.
Well, after speaking almost an hour over the phone, they seem to be sending me the phone for real next week... I'm wondering how they're sending it in less than 7 days while my original order took almost a month...
Ouch. Thats a bummer. I would get on dell's butt about this issue. I know the feeling believe me.
Lol! Wow sorry that happened to u, but that thats perhaps the funniest thing ive heard in a while. I would argue for dell to throw in something like accessories. Worth a shot.
Somebody in a warehouse somewhere got themselves a free Streak, it happens.
I actually can't believe it. I thought this only happens in my own country, not in the US. Ok, call me naive now and you'll be right...
It has happened to me countless times... In one job I used to be in charge of cell phone and smartphone distribution for my company workforce. I would need a replacement or a new phone once or twice a week. Every once in a while I would get a box with nothing in it. I would have to call tmobile, att, and ups to complain. I used to be very friendly with the theft prevention guy at my local UPS plant.
It takes someone .5 seconds to slit the packaging tape, steal, re-tape and put back on the belt.
I haven't seen this yet with computers.. but i have seen articles where people have gotten bricks in ps3 boxes..
That's OK, Best Buy sells the iBrick too, go check
http://www.iphonesavior.com/2009/04...s-large-brick-inside-new-macbook-pro-box.html
and it cost that person $2100 only
ha. i never heard of such a thing happening. someone didnt notice that the shipping was unusually cheap as there was no weight?
Whats even crazier is knowing how easy it would be if someone wanted another product. Just call up the ups/company and say u got bricks. Lol!

Sure, but they don't have anything in stock. 2 weeks for a spare USB cable? Unbelievable! They are still trying to figure out when I'm going to receive my Streak (I hope for real this time)...
Well, 9 days after the "empty delivery", there is no clue about when the device is arriving, shipping, or even produced (if ever). I even escalated the issue, called more than 15 times, chatted, spoke to reps in spanish, english, even offered to speak in russian if that helped, but no luck, no product, no nothing.
This is far beyond a product cancelation. Who will pay for the hours and money spent calling them?
Just UNBELIEVABLE...

that sucks dood. I feel bad for you. What really doesn't surprise me is that if you had a business account and an account manager, you probably would have had one in 3 days. They will always fight or push for something to get done to satisfy their clients. But there is no one there for the average consumer.
Have you tried escalating as far as you can go? did you ask to speak to someone in North America?
Believe it or not, i still think the streak is worth the fight. Or why don't you just dispute the charge with your credit card, show them timestamps of when you called and how you tried to get assistance. You might probably have a better chance of getting your money back faster then getting a streak.
I also think that the latest price drops was an indication like the adamo line.. to discount to get rid of remaining supplies and stocks before it gets discontinued.

I did speak with many reps from USA, Latin America, and everywhere. My order was placed in the USA site. I don't know what else to do, honestly... I'll try my last chat with Dell...

call up the business side and tell them you want to start a business account however you have this issue that needs to be resolved first. If that gets resolved asap you will make an account. They will jump through hoops

Nice one, didn't think of that!
Anyway, I escalated once again. Let's see how the end of the day comes...
Next thing you can try is just call up your credit card company that you used to buy the streak and go through them. They got a department and if not satisfied they do do a good job of helping. Just explain and they should help. At the least you get a credit then you can just go to best buy or order one again through the business side.
Have you filed a claim with the shipping company?
