What do you think is better, and why? - XDA2 or Samsung i700 - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

what do u think is better and why - xda2 or sumsong i700

There's a great comparison over on pdaphonehome.com . The short answer is that there are various things that are better on one or the other. You have to decide which things have more value. Check out the review.

He was talking about the XDA II, although the review will probably give a good idea of which is more desireable anyway.

Sorry, I missed that. Then I think the XDA II would be a clear winner.

Some info on ppcw.net about the new XDAIIi,
Looking good.
It looks really good - I can't wait
Nice Can't wait until i get my hand on it...now i have a reason why i shouldn't buy Xda IIs
Thanx for the info Qbert.
Hell Yeah
Yeah Baby this is what I'm talkin' bout!
Xda IIs - NOT!

anyone know what is meaning ..III, is MDA III or what :?:
http://www.ppcw.net/?itemid=2137
Thank's
Yeah, it's interesting, but will they made 640*480 device?
YES!
Now that's a device I'm gonna get!
Wasn't really sure about the Blue Angel.. Didn't really care much for design and keyboard..
Looks bulky..
Does anyone know the Qtek model name/number of the Alpine?
I am a little disappointed, I thought the XDA2i - which I will be upgrading to - had all the benefits of the IIs but with even higher specs? I was getting quite used to the idea of having a black coloured phone, with a little querty kb as in the 's', now I found out that it's going to be almost the same look and feel as the XDA2.
Confused
XDA III
o2 Germany's Xda III will exclude the camera :
http://www.ppcw.net/?itemid=2138&catid=60
so many varian from O2 XDA, code name is still Blue Angel !!
xda2 s suck's
after using xda2,
i found xda 2s,
verry bad like the screen its i think 50% dull than the xda2, I mean when u tilt the phone side way or up and down u can see the colour change from yellow to white, this never use to happen in xda2 and the colour quality is also bad am curseing my self why did I upgrade???T
he jabra bluetooth which worked fine with xda2 dosen't work well with 2s lot of hissing,
i am really unhappy with the screen quality,
so guy's and gal's stick to xda2 and pray that xda3 will have a crisp and clear screen and the bluetooth will work fine,
i think i will buy me the XDA IIi
hopefully it will released soon in Germany..
 anyone have some date??
PPCW.net XDAIIi
Hi all,
Looks like a fake to me, unless I'm missing somthing why would they keep the old shape of the XDA II. Just looks like a revamped XDA II.

Looks like a good upgrade to me. The XDAIIs is just too bulky. When will this be available :?: :?: :?:
It's just a PDA and after having the XDAII, not really impressed with it at all.
The XDA II is a bit on the boring side, well unless you get one then spend hours making it do other things.... :?: ....which really is what they appear tobe all about.
As a phone they are not good in general, as an extention to your Laptop they are reasonable, but seriously...... :?: ....what are they good for....... ?
A good toy to play with me thinks and thats that.
Heh?
I am confused now, isn't the XDA IIi the same as the XDA IIs which is the same as the XDA III (quotes, not my own words)?
The reason I am asking is because I bought my XDA IIs from O2 today, and apart form being in a graphite/black/grey colour and the keyboard its not to dissimilar to my XDA II.
Now my bro purchased his XDA IIs from eBay, called the MDAIII, except for being a cool silver colour like the XDA II its no different to my XDA IIs... so what is going on?
By the way the XDA IIs is not really any different to the XDA II/i-mate etc, the only major difference I can see right now is the inclusion of the keyboard (too small for my hands) and built-in WiFi (easily done with a standard XDA II using something like a SanDisk WiFi card) - apart from that the tech spec is the same, I was half exepcting a better quality camera (the XDA II camera is good in its own right though), unfortunately it is identical to the XDA II. WM2003SE is cool though even though half my apps don't work with it and the landscape mode is only really any good for Word/Excel and Internet Browsing.
Cheers,
Taz
Hmm, was going to buy the XDAIIs, then heard about the XDAIIi but i like the idea of the keyboard on the XDAIIs (grrrr).
Wonder if they will release a version of the XDAIIi with the keyboard.
Actually, does anyone know if the case will be black like the XDAIIs?
Graham
anybody know when i-mate will release their version of the XDA IIi?

During Q1 of 2005... wait for 3GSM Exhibition and you may see the PDA2 (XDA IIi)...
XDA IIs is very different to XDA II. If you think they're similar on the outside, you want your head looking at!! Internally they seem very similar in terms of spec list.
The IIi is, as I had expected, the XDA II with some useful upgrades, though 400Mhz to 500Mhz isn't a great step up. I would be tempted to get that, but I'm hoping the next one - can they call it XDA III?! - will have the keyboard *and* better CPU *and* VGA.
I would have to assume that the IIi's CPU runs at 500Mhz-or-so simply to save on battery usage - if they're using the same package, they're probably using the same batteries so they won't necessarily be taking advantage of increased battery performance at this time.
Of course, it's only really a matter of time before we start seeing PDAs with 20Gb 1.8" hard disks in like the Sony NW-HD1 I got hold of - or maybe the new 1" hard disks they've released recently. Batteries are getting better all the time and electronics (and disks) are getting smaller all the time. The XDA II remains one of the better devices out there despite being some 18 months old now, so I think PDAs are going to have to catch up with other consumer electronics sooner or later.
In the next few years look out for 800x600 OLED displays and hard disks in PDAs.

[Q]Would you have bought your X1 if you didn't knew that XDA existed?

I knew that SE is very bad with updates. An one of the reasons i chose the X1 is because i knew that XDA developers existed. Therefore I ask you "Would you have bought your X1 if you didn't knew that XDA existed?"
I had already decided to buy it before I knew XDA existed. Funny thing is, I couldn't imagine working without XDA now. So I'm glad I found it. ^_^
I have to admit I'd struggle to choose a non htc based phone unless there's somewhere as useful.
The new Tosh appeals, but there's not much in the way of discussion and dev on their kit. The modaco tosh subforum has a minuscule amount of posts.
I bought my X1 before i knew that xda existed
I think I know what this poll will show. There are allot of fresh members in the x1 section. well, not all people are like me then. Now, when I think of it. All of my phones that I have had have been modded in some way, bouth hardware and firmware.
Sincerely, no I wouldn't.
I was going to buy a Nokia 5880 Xpressmusic after a long time wondering which one was the best for me (between 5800 and X1).
But when I realized that you all were here, ...well, guess how it ended?
Well, I decided to buy X1 and bought it before I know XDA. And because I bought X1,I found there...
If I didn't buy a X1,maybe I will not know XDA till now.
You know I am from China where is not a English country,I usually don't go to a English forum, just for find something I will do that. But now, because X1,I get there.

Yes. I think although WM can be enhanced, it's not all that bad out-of-the-box if you just need the PDA & Phone features. I mean there are some useful today plugins which come as default and most stuff works just fine (for example SPB mobile shell panel)
Only real catch is that there is no good on-screen keyboard pre-installed.
But most of the addon stuff I installed on my X1 I never really use.
I ordered the X1a and only then did I find XDA.
I have an HTC TyTN and have been using XDA to tweak it very succesfuly. I am now planning to change to SE X1 (honestly I'd prefer HTC Touch HD but its 3G doesn't work in my country). I was very unsure to choose X1 but as soon as I found XDA has a dedicated section to it I'm now very happy and confident to do it. Thanks XDA!
I was deciding between TouchHD and X1, leaning towards TouchHD due to the onscreen keyboard and TF3D. When I found XDA and saw that I can tweak both in X1, I did not look back!
This my first post here.
I decided to buy the Xperia X1 because of this excellent forum. It´s simply the best smartphone related forum I have visited to this day.
The information and tweaks, ROM development and so on is perfect and it enhances the device on a very nice way.
Keep up the good work!
I was searching for a phone with keyboard, GPS and touchscreen. I was leaning towards the Touch Pro to have support over here at XDA.
When I saw Xperia's specs, I was like OMG... a wvga screen and a metal casing /me wants
I came over here to see what XDA guys thought about the Xperia, and saw Xperia's own forum section Two minutes later, my order was made
Xperia is a cool phone, but when you know XDA, it becomes just fantastic
To be honest these days I would never buy a smartphone without a decent support/community...
Why? Because it's much safer and also - there are NO problem-free devices today!!
And especially with a new platform like WM for me - I would not deduct many things by myself!!
But It'd be the same with any new device for me.

Good question..
I knew about XDA before.. and it sure made it easier to buy the device knowing what comes out of this forum
Without XDA i wouldn't buy a Xperia, i am using XDA for about a year now (HTC Touch). And love the quality of the phones they make. And flahsing roms since i came here.
Without this forum i wouldn't buy a new WM phone because standard they are to slow

Review of Galaxy S is out -> http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i9000_galaxy_s-review-478.php
"So, while Samsung I9000 Galaxy S is coming to the market a bit late it hasn't been wasting its time. It certainly is the best Android package we've seen so far - a hearty Samsung welcome to all upgraders. We're not sure about Android newcomers, but anyone looking for the ultimate performance has almost no alternatives but the Galaxy S."
Good luck - these forums are nearly all htc based. Even if there isn't one created here, there soon will be over at Howard and Modaco Forums along with guys and gals cooking Roms.
+1 This is definitely a phone worth having a sub forum for! The only negative thing about it is its build quality. Plastic is a definite no-no for a high-end device.
Was very impressed after having read the gsmarena review and was surprised to see perfect audio quality(almost outperforming the 3GS)! This has got to be THE multimedia device of 2010(unless of course HTC has got something up their sleeve).
My HD2 is starting to look old all of a sudden..
I definitely agree with everybody here, it should have it's own forum overhere. The phone is worth it for sure.

Warning from a new note owner: Do not buy this phone!

...or you would never be able to go back to "normal" smartphones!!!!
Seriously now: I am old enough to remember a world without cell phones so I have seen them appear, take hold and change our life. I have been an user almost from the beginning.
My cell phone "history" is: Motorola can't-remember-its-name, Ericsson T-10s, Ericsson T39m, Sony-Ericsson P800, HP iPaq rw6815, Samsung Omnia i9000, Samsung Galaxy S i9000, Samsung Galaxy SII, Samsung Galaxy Note.
I have never bought any one of them for any other reason than I thought them to be the overall best of their time, I am a very heavy poweruser, I DO use the FULL spectrum of the capabilities of these smartphones.
The Note? It's the smartphone I have always wanted, the one I was forever waiting for, the one I would have designed for myself.
I realize it's a niche phone but I do hope its is a niche that's gonna take hold and stay because I can't see myself EVER going back to "normal" smartphones.
Yes, I am that happy with the Note.
I will add to the thread as I keep on using it, meanwhile feel free to ask anything.
Some other background infos so you know where I am coming from: besides the ones listed above I have seen/tested many many other ones from friends/relatives/stores between and before purchases. I have also some background in IT.
I am from Italy and bought the phone from Germany.

Some people are going deaf and they are blaming the Note. No offence meant
I can't agree more man..
This phone is frigging perfect.. When i had the galaxy s2 the ONLY thing that was laking was screen size..

Yes, there is so much I simply love about the phone.
Apart from the size I seriously did not think the Note could topple my SGSII.
I purchased the Note part being inquisitive and part because I love to have the latest tech.
Having now tried the Note for the past few days it just gets better and better.
Obviously size is it's biggest draw but I was pleasantly surprised at just how good the Camera is.
I love the Camera on my SGSII but the Note's Camera knocks the spots off of it, which is weird as both the SGSII & Note share the same Lens.
Just goes to show what happens when you have different software to drive the hardware.
Next up we have what I would consider as a 'major' improvement on GPS.
Again the SGSII is no slouch at getting a fix and maintaining your position but the Note just blows the SGSII out of the water.
Okay, this is helped by the fact it uses both the American and now Russian satellites and now we also have a barometer to aid in keeping the accuracy down to a pinpoint.
I'm looking forward to when the Developers Kit for the Barometer gets handed out in December. We should then start to see some Apps that utilize the Barometer to full use.
Nice one Samsung.... The Boy did good.
Totally agree! Best smartphone ever! Got it yesterday from CU.

Would really be interesting in hearing a comparison to the Dell Streak. I bought the Dell Streak 5 from someone selling their Give-Away phone and eventually bought the UNLOCKED to T-Mobile (with 3G) and was never happy with the Streak. I didn't mind the size at all. In fact I bought the Mugen Extended battery and that somehow felt better in my hand than without the battery. (Girl Hand) what I didn't like was the DELL .. Maybe what I didn't like about the Dell will be what I don't like about the Note .. PHONE CALLS. Not it being to big, but getting to the dialer to hang up always gave me fits .. It isn't easy to use like the iPhone. I like the iPhone for calls and the other for everything else. Always struggled with phone calls on the Dell Streak. I will carry both with me .. my iPhone and my Note. If I am just running out to the store I will bring my iPhone .. I use Google Voice I think it is called, it rings all my phones when I have a call. I wish it worked for texting also. (ramble-ramble)
I have my alarm on my note set to I'm sexy and I know by LMFAO and its so fitting.

Disappointed with some youtube reviwers!

Hello I'm here to explain why I'm very disappointed with some of the YouTube reviewers about the Htc One vs. Samsung devices
PHONEARENA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdkkKpbOZto&feature=youtube_gdata_player
This site say to their reviewers that the SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 is better than the HTC ONE just because it's cheaper in price, so Wtf with that? They are comparing both phones, not prices, obviously a new phone will be more expensive than an old one, so I don't see the point of telling that the s3 its better than the htc One
PHONEDOG
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHK71jWvRSY&feature=youtube_gdata_player
As this guy is talking about both phones I noticed that he just talks about all of the features the galaxy note 2 has over the htc One but not viceversa, he just talks some of the cons of the htc One and keeps saying that galaxy is better just because of the S Beam feature because he uses it a lot with his family. Omg what is that? just because he uses that feature it means that it's better, he is a reviewer, an arbitrary person, he has to be NEUTRAL PERSON!, imagine I'm an arbitrary person in a soccer game and I give the game to "A" team even if the "B" team scored more goals, but I decided to give the game to "A" team just because I like the uniform...
And trust me or not but much people make their choice basing on the reviews and that is a shot for the back to HTC company
Maybe Samsung gives some cash to those reviewers? That wouldn't impressive me at all.

I haven't watched the Phonearena one yet, but I'm going to now. As for Aaron on Phonedog, I can tell you that he's doing a 30-day challenge with the One right now, and he's made some very good remarks about the device. He also spent a lot of time talking about only one feature of the Galaxy Note 2, and that was the S-Pen feature. While it's only 1 specific feature, there's a lot to go over with it. He's been using it longer and has had it in his possession to figure out all sorts of things it does. If you watch some of the review videos for the One that he does, he's definitely finding the HTC product to be better.
Well I love my Note 2 but to be fait Aaron is a big Samsung fanboy. The Note 2 won every dogfight and the S3 lost only once (in the S3 vs Note 2 dogfight). Or maybe he just really loves touchwiz and all the features it has, one thing well known is that he prefers touchwiz and sense over stock android.

Awesome review there
What's the problem? Is it that people have different opinions than you? It's their subjective opinions, and i wouldn't dare go into a discussion with you about anything if you get all fired up about this. This is the point of reviews; to see if a product is good or bad, so i can't really see what the problem is. If some guys says that one thing isn't quite that good, you object? Do you know what a review with no negative points in it is? It's an advertisement or an overview. Not a review.
Remember, it's all subjective and every single human being on the planet has its own opinion.

Yup. Quit worrying about reviews and make up your own mind. If you don't have the chance to test it, then wait until you get the chance. It's pretty damn easy.
Not sure about Phonearena, but I consider Aaron from Phonedog to be one of the better reviewers out there. The problem is that people watch these reviews and take the reviewers opinions personally. I watch these reviews in order to form my own opinion based on the facts I learn. I could really care less if the guy thinks the phone is worse at this, or worse at that, as long as I know what it can and can't do and what's important to me.

I don't have a problem with it but my problem is that they are not fair, example Aarons to me is the best reviewers out there but on this he just talked about note features and detailed almost all of them, while he didn't mention all of the new innovating features htc One have, and said about that he love the S Beam feature so that's why he selected note 2 as a winner but a reviewers is supposed to be neutral and much people make their decision because of the desicion of the reviewer
And for the phonearena review, well htc One beats s3 in every category but he declared winner s3 because it's cheaper, so I declare winner a Chinese phone because they are cheaper, no way, that's not the point of a review but they are saying that to give Samsung as the best choice that's why I'm mad about it
I see all the reviews and make my decision about them making my own desicion but almost 80% I guess make their the decision about reviewers desicion

You are just complaining again.. if you are happy with a phone, then be it.. probably aaron finds his note2 good for him.. its called personal opinion... or you could start a youtube channel yourself and say everything good about htc...
.....
Samsung is Korean, not Chinese. Just sayin.

Every reviewer is providing their subjective opinion so their will always be bias as it's just that; their opinion. Who's to say whether a flush power button is any better or worse than a protruding one, it's just opinion. Results from objective standardized tests performed under controlled conditions are the only parts of any review that have no bias or opinion injected in to them. But then everyone rejects benchmarks (unless their device happens to come out on top) which means everyone's reacting to reviewer's opinions. If their opinions are so important find reviews that say what you want them to say.

What are you talking about? Phone Dog's review was great and he loves the One. He had nothing but good things to say about minus the battery life.
