Maybe he bought a piece of film like he said in his first and the third post?
http://www.carbonfibergear.com/direct/3m-di-noc-carbon-fiber-vinyl
That might make it easier for you.
I did this with black carbon. Had it on for about a week and took it off. It kinda reminded me of one of those coffee carabiners.
it stays on very well to my surprise thought it would have peeled on the edges by now

Hi XDA!
Tell me what you think of the dark grey bezel, rather than the stock chrome.
I think I'll rock it like this for a while... then maybe try all black.

With a custom hardware mod, I really hoped you'd replaced the cpu, gps or something like that.
But nevertheless it's quite nice!
Agreed!
Would love to see some hc mods!
Doesn't seem like I'm able to change the title to something more specific or accurate.
BBut thanks for the comments.

Well I did a bunch of research to see if I could completely remove the chrome bezel. Seemed like it was possible but separating it from the glass was tricky. I got the impression I would break the glass if I tried.
So what I ended up doing was taking apart everything I could, then masked off the rest, including the entire screen.
Then I went to town with a 150 grit sandpaper to take the chrome off. Then polished with a 300 grit.
Once it was all smooth, it had a very light grey, almost white look. The exposed, bare plastic was dry and almost looked like fibres. I went and rubbed a very small amount of oil into the plastic. The plastic soaked it right up and gave it a darker grey and glossy appearance. Voila!
So the next step might be to re-tape it all off, then hit it with some black enamel spray.
After looking at all the sexy phones being released, I was getting jealous and it felt like my HD2 was losing its luster (The HD2 is still a sexy phone, don't get me wrong). I actually did this mod a long time ago but I switched the cover because I purchased an extended battery (Chinese!) and recently I just really missed the sexyness. And the cover draws attention away from the phone's slight blemishes( My f*cking eX knocked my phone on the the ground. It scratched my phone, cracked the camera lens and dented the camera casing >:[ )
Don't know if something like this was posted already, but anyway, here's to the best $265 I have ever spent!

I didn't have better camera at the time, so i had to use my sh*tty iPhone 3g. The image had so much noise, that i had to Photoshop it! So if it looks weird i apologize.
EDIT: THAT'S RIGHT! Totally forgot... I bought this carbon fiber vinyl sheet from ebay (3M makes better quality sheets but is more expensive). And basically it's a sticker and I just pasted it on to my back and cut the proper dimensions. I used a heat gun to make it stick more and it makes it easier to play with (it gets softer). I'm actually planning on dong this to all my future phones!
OK ......Ya it looks nice but what was the point of making the post if your not going to tell people what you did to make it? Is it just a carbon fiber sticker, did you actually make a true carbon fiber back cover,etc....Would be nice to know for others that might want the same look.
Why is this in themes and apps?
its moved now

Go to any material/ art craft shop and they can cut a piece off for you for cheap.
Ps this isn't meant to ruin your business. It's just to help people who can't send money.
Looks nice. Reckon you could make a few quid doing that.
Thread closed.
This type of carbon fibre is available in most craft shops.
Posting a mod is fine, selling a product is against xda rules.
The back of my Black SP has always looked very plain to me so I decided to change that, for very cheap (£1) I bought some Carbon fibre foil online and applied it to the back of my SP.
Here's the end result.

I think it looks very stylish and it's very cheap and easy to do. Also if you don't like the black one there are many colours of foil to chose from.
What do you guys think?
Wow, looks good and is cheap, could you post the link?
I have always been deterred by the 'foils' and 'stickers' but that actually looks nice, was it hard to apply? Also what does the texture feel like? :fingers-crossed:
Also this thread should be in the Accessories section not General.

It wasn't very difficult to apply other than the mic, camera and the speaker holes, the texture is hard to describe, it's both rough and smooth, it's grippy when dry but becomes slippery with moisture on it, overall I really like it!

(good point on the accessories section, I forgot it exists)
Wow, wanting to do this with metalic red or blue on frame
Sent from my XT1032 using XDA Free mobile app
How does it feel when you touch?
I've dropped my phone a few times and doing so messed up the chrome bezzel pretty badly. I didn't take before photos like I should have but I couldn't stand looking at it anymore. I had bought a carbon fiber vinyl to wrap my GearS Watch Band with. It was a decent size sheet and I have more left but after I did the watch band I decided to wrap my phone battery cover. Thats when I decided to do the bezel as well. Took a bit of time and was tedious but it looks great and I wanted to share with everyone. Maybe this could be an idea for others. Used an Xacto Knife and a Hair Drier.

It looks ugly
The phone looks ugly in this wrapping. Better re-paint the bezel (if possible) lol !
I have never used any cover for phone. I use my S5 carefully and it's bezel perfectly fine. And I have been using S5 for 15 months now
everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I've had mine since June but have dropped it quite a few times (guess I'm careless) I love the way it looks and everyone around me that has seen it ip has me liked it. I thought about buying a new bezel but it would be to much to take the phone apart and I had the extra vinyl laying around. Although it would be cool to do because I'd like to swap the Nav Menu LEDs from white to red.
It looks awesome in the carbon fibre wrap [emoji1]
