So now its final. There is NOT coming a WM 6.5 rom for the X1.
And the phone is still selling for almost 800 euros here in Denmark without subscription-plan.
Yup, we know that for a long time now! And since Sony got to Ericsson, we always got screwed over by SE!
Started latest with the P series, 800 then 900 / 901 and majorly with the P990 and now the X1.
You can be sure, in 1 year when mobile 7 comes... same will be for any X series up to then!
800 euros?
Are you sure? You can get X2 or HD2 for less money

TDC here in Denmark charges 2999 kroner 403,17 euro for the x1 with a subscription-plan for 6 months. Which costs additional 2600 kroner which is around 350 euro.
If you add 400 euro + 350 euro and thats 750 euro.
So yes this phone is expensive! The X2 isn't even on the marked here in Denmark!
It's all good....this is why we love our master developers here at XDA! There've gotta be at least a bazillion WM 6.5 roms out there for us!! Although I know there's nothing like an "Official" manufacturer ROM

Strange. When I bought my X1 it was saying X1, WinMo 6.1, 800x480. What I received was an X1, WinMo 6.1 and 800x480, so exactly what I was ordering and paying. I can't remember having bought/payed anything like "plus foc WinMo 6.5 if ever available". So I basically got what I payed for and there is no obligation from the SE side. My X1 does what I expect, progs are running fine.
Reminds me to make Microsoft reliable for my desktop PC not running Win7 - even worse: Why don't I get Win7 foc?

Well said, Susann! I second your opinion. Needless to mention the countless excellent WinMo 6.5(.1, .3) ROMS available here.
I paid 1000$ for mine in denmark last year
sure s/e ripped off x1 owners by not giving them the wm6.5 rom upgrade
but they are not alone htc phones from the same time also didn't get it
prob same deal with samsung and other wm models
they don't want to give us stuff for free which cost them some R&D time to make sure if "bug free"
they want us to buy a new phone then they make money blast em!

Let's talk about "ripped off". So you payed 1000$ for an X1 with a certificate issued by SE saying that one you have it, you will get 6.5 in 2009? Is that what is causing your judgement of being "ripped off"? Or is it that you were "hoping" that SE would upgrade your X1 with 6.5 and you are now disappointed that your self propelled thoughts and wishes don't come true? So somebody has to be guilty and it's never the one with the self propelled thought. It MUST BE the bad, bad industry, isn't it?
Gosh, what a world ...
Susann
I do not think se made any mistake with operating systems, think about it, business is business. BUT however they did crap us over with the x1 processor. Recent news have been that it actually runs at 400mhz, not the advertised and PAID 5xx mhz. This is what pisses me off the most. Advertising something that is really not there.
Sorry for the semi-offtopic, just wanted to bring some facts out.
The processor is 528MHz.

Yeah let's talk about "ripped off". Did SE also annouce that their case is going to crack inevitably? That their whole interface is sluggish? That it's impossible to use the phone with fingers only? According to their ad videos it looks like it isn't a problem at all. I'm certain they're hiding it somewhere in the specs, but the only thing I can find on the first view on their homepage is "Windows Mobile" without any version number given.
Windows Mobile 6.5 is nothing more then a service pack to Win Mob 6.1 and doesn't deserve a number on it's own. It tries to fix the finger friendliness and doesn't even manage to get that systemwide. It's absolutely horrible customer service by both Microsoft and SE. With the X2 running nearly identical hardware the development resources required to get it to X1 are next to nothing. It should be in the best interest of both companies to keep their customers happy and if they want any sort of loyalty they better let me participate on their software improvements.
And yes that is something you can and should expect when you buy a premium phone. The only thing arguable here would be if it's ok to charge an extra fee to get that 'upgrade'. Outright refusing it is a punch into the face of any customer who has at least 3 brain cells left to think on it's own.

Hi
Noob here.
I am a global citizen from the Internet.
Here in my world wide country you can get one for around 350-400 USD from eBay
PS: I don't work for Sony Ericsson or Microsoft, but if Sony Ericsson would have had to pay royalties to Microsoft for using their still-not-even-in-my-wetest-dreams new OS one year ago, all of your Xperia X1 phones would have costed a lot more

You are a bad businessman if you think that a business is done once the customer has the good in it's hands and paid your bill. A good business is about having your customers come back to you and buy again. There is absolutely no reason to buy the X2 just because you want 6.5. There is plenty of reason to be discontent with SE refusing to give you that simple upgrade without buying a new phone.
I don't know what sort of contracts they have with each other, but it doesn't matter. 6.1 and sticking to it is a disgrace for both companies. SE knows for quite a long while that 6.5 is coming and they probably could have bought appropriate licences for a year. 6.5 wont cost more then 6.1 does and it's not that expensive either way. I don't know what you consider to "cost a lot more" but a windows mobile licence costs something in the range of 8-15$. Absolutely nothing compared to price of the device.

Way to get a plaster when you need a surgery. Flashing roms without any quality control is not a cool thing to do on a premium phone and certainly not enough to remove the blame on SE. They try to sell this thing to business customers and nobody sane who needs this phone for daily work is going to risk it with third party rom hacks (and that is ignoring the illegal nature of it).
I don't have any ill will towards the cooks here and it's not their fault, but whatever they can do is nothing more then a private hacking project, stabbing around the dark and hoping for the best. We have no idea what changes between various base roms nor related software releases. It's impossible for the official SE developer to put together a firmware without issues even having full documentation and support by MS. It's hardly surprising that some cooked roms get even fundamental things broken.
I really don't think that Sony has any obligation to give 6.5 to us. Its not the norm of industry nor did they ever promise to us that they would. Its akin to buying a laptop that's over a year old, and then demanding that Sony must give you Windows 7. Its absurd to expect that.

Today markes the day that Sony Ericsson Ends it partnership with Wm, I guess the Next smartphone the X2 Will either be for Symbian S60 or Google's Android OS. Welll the had a good run with windows mobile but now its over.
But Atleast We know that there will be/could be a PSP Phone coming.
Source plz.
I'm not surprised. SE was barely involved in SEX1 developement, x1 is HTC device excluded panels... And even panels... I don't know how much has been developed by SE
so, who cares basically? I purchased X1 'cause I need a qwerty small device... that's it

Thats true, Thats why i nvr Bought one. But its a little sad that no more inovative things for Wm like panals. But its okay tho.
The article is barely a reliable source to confirm that SE is ending partnership with Microsoft.
The rumor has been been going around since even before X1 was launched and if Ericsson is really off loading their shares to Sony, if i remember correctly Sony was always a big fan of Windows Mobile.

Well this time it is most likely true because First there sales for the flagship X1 sucked, second There phones arent selling so there losing money, Third Wm is the MOST expensive OS out there, so there trying to cut cost and maybe save them self from Spliting up. There almost sdoing as bad as Motorola. And ya
I heard a rumour that it was the andriod phones that are likely to be reduced or stopped by companies like sony and a few others as it does not really hold its own market. i think people see it like symbian for normal phones and mw for business. android is like iphone but companies are thinking if u want something like iphone u would buy an iphone.
not saying the rumour is true as there is at the mo nothing to back it up but i hear that was what a lot of mobile phones companies were thinking
Ya, and i have use Symbian i Wm has just 2 things over it, 1 Its UI is very costumizable and Its great intergration with everything Windows. But symbian has Way better res 16 million colors, better Costumizablility Video ring and others, better more stable Wi-Fi connection, Faster too. So really X2 would be alot better on symbian even.
Rumors, nothing else. (it's a symbian "fan-page" )

But It also says android, Also there saying what the head of Ericsson said so it couldn't be to far from The truth. But I think its true, Bad Pofits+Low selling Wm phones+ EXPENSIVE OS($99 each Vs $29 s60 vs Free android)=Bye Bye Window Phones, And For them to Truly have a High tech Phone and Feature packed the cant Us wm, cuz it doesn't support alot of things I.e OMINIA HD left Wm because it couldnt support half the things it has especially HD. But maybe Windows Phone 7 will change that.

Just because I work As a Firmware engineer For samsung in California i dont know anything right.... Sorry. I guess a person that most likely works a walmart knows more than me.
I also bought the X1 because it is just an amazing phone. Although I owned two SE-phones before the X1 I never thought that I HAVE to buy a SE-phone again... The X1 is a HTC device and I think it opened the HTC-window for many SE-users; I think the X1 is a better commercial success for HTC then for HTC, because SE will loose with the X2 at least all the users that don't like Android and Symbian (including me).
With the X1 I said in fact 'goodbye SE', 'hello HTC'

the recent development in software and some of the leaks about the x2 hardware (better keyboard, based on 6.5..etc) as mentioned in the other thread suggests that SE are committed to WM.

True, True, But ya. I think your right with that But another reason i like the X1 is because of the designe , Thats why i like most Phone, I mean teh OS is very important to me BUt if The feature List is Killer like The Upcoming Nokia n97(which i already pre-odered for $750). Its sooo advanced that i would give Up the best OS out there WM for a less advanced but still good S60. You gatta be open minded when it comes to OS's. I have owned and used all the Mobile Os. Android, Mac, S60, RIM, Wm, Palm and touch wiz, so i know what i am talking about when i say what i say. Now i am using the HTC HD because its super sexy, In 1 month ill be using the Nokia N97 because its sexier, Way more features, 32 GIGS of memory, 3.5 inch screen With 16:9 Res, NOW no Phone can top that. Can you name one, that has better features?
Oh well, windows mobile is actually a really good OS.
I have an iphone, blackberry bold, nokia n82, and my beloved Xperia X1i.
That being said, I've come to learn and know about almost every OS, of course there's Android which I probably will not experience.
I love Windows Mobile. Symbian is quite responsive, but simplistic.
The iphone's OS is also simple, beautiful, and good for gaming.
Blackberry's OS is mainly for eye candy and business, I couldn't really find many games on its platform.
Android, not too sure!
Heres a little proof That Sony ericsson is starting its move FROM WM http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2009/...-foxconn-sourced-android-phones-from-sony-er/
But also you could be right that the are not gonna completely Move. I can admit to my wrong, But im say theres a huge chance there gonna start to move away from WM

Yes your Right.. I dont think anyone on this web site can say the have had a better OS(even me) but im just saying SE is loving Wm now. Did you know that the Have only made 1 Wm phone and the sales were BAD, All other smartphones have been Symbian(which i like because how it interhrates everything into its Ui(which cant be costumizedbut okay)
For example The P series, M series G series and W series.
your silly topic is now your signature. seriously dude, you have issues
-SE releasing android does not mean leaving WM. it just means they are experimenting with something new . SE said they were supporting android since LAST YEAR.
-your other links (idou and SE losing money) are pointless and irrelevant here
-whare the hell did you come up with the wm OS price and the very poor X1 sales numbers??!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello Guys,
I have been very happy reading itjes post in the beginning of semptember that he has gotten a official Xperia 6.5 kernel. I really got the hope that we will get an 6.5 update for the Xperia by Sony Erricson.
But yesterday I was shocked when I read the official blog of Xperia / Sony Erricson.
I thought I have bought a enterprise device with first-class service - its definitly what I paid for.
Thats why I would like to write an open letter to Sony Erricson with you to present them our point of view.
I will never buy a Sony Erricson device ever again if we don't get an official update and I am not going to buy a Software-Update for 800$ (X2).
The Xperia is not even one year on the market and we don't get anymore support ? I dont think that this is a enterprise service!
I would like to write the open letter HERE at xda to show them how many we are and that we are united here.Thats why I would like you to collect arguments here - and discuss.
Later (in a few days) I will collect all of your ideas and write the letter and publish it here where you can all sign it.
Greetings

I agree totally with all the aspect that you say. This situation has been discussed many times in this forum and others. I expect that all this ideas and opinion will serve to make SE think and restate it's plans. I told what I think about the 6.5 support a few weeks ago, there is a post here about it.
Best regards.
when i bought the x1 last November at no point did sony say or give the impression that they would update the os to 6.5.
the have done 2 firmware updates and there may be one more to come.
i think people should stop complaining as no other mobile phone company are giving free updates on a product that is a year old.
There are plenty of discussions already regarding SE but as we all love to moan and groan about them why not start a new thread just to give em some s**t.
My main concern at present is that as you say support for X1 stops and support for X2 starts, we wont be able to OFFICIALLY get any of the panels from X2 on our X1 or any of the additional software that comes with X2. So it seems the panels that are available now are all that will be available to the X1 and future ones are for X2 only.
I would like to see WM6.5 along with new panel manager and X2 panel downloads in an update available for the X1 OFFICIALY via SEUS. However im not too fussed about WM6.5 but would be a bonus.
We all are with you. We want 6.5 since the X1 could run it perfectly. Such a expensiv device gets such a bad supports. That's a shame!

Apple still manages to update the first generatin iPhone after all this time...
1 - Your letter will achieve nothing.
2 - Write oit yoorself, no one else cares.
3 - Yes, SE's support and services are crap and yes we bought a high-end device for a premium price, but look at 4...
4 - SE never promised to give a free 6.5 update. Why should they? There is no logical reason. Some companies do it, but that is their decision and not mandatory act. SE is not one of them and X1 is not one of those phones. Deal with it.
They are not obliged to do it and they don't need to. Not happy? No one cares. No one will give you free stuff. Don't be a cheap ....... and buy your stuff. It feels much more gratifying believe me.
Do you expect the company that sold you your PC with Windows XP to provide you a free upgrade to Vista? Hahahahahha.
Think for a second. THINK!

true, they didn't say anything about upgrading to 6.5 last year.
but since there are so many people complaining about no support after "1 year", i have to say: that's not true!
here in europe the x1 hit the market in september or early october 2008. it had firmware-problems and needed and got 2 updates. some bugs got fixed, some are still present and some were even built in! (x1-cam-videos playing fine in r1, laggy playback in r2 & r3!)
r3 came out when? april 2009? since then: nada. nothing. not even leaks like prior to the r3. this means that se stopped development for a device which cost 800,- euros (!) after only HALF A YEAR!!!
i think one has have every right to complain about that! and remember it when buying a new phone...

im in the uk and bought the phone on release, the start of november. the only country that got it before the uk was Sweden, they got it mid october.
i have had lots of phones from SE and other companies and its very rare SE ever give firmware updates but on the x1 they have given 2, which have sorted alot of the bugs and speed issues. now that the bugs and speed issues are sorted there has not been any need for another firmware update.
i spent £500 for the x1 and the only thing i am unhappy about is the cracking problem, it was the highest spec phone when it was released, the best looking and since release they have sorted all (most) the software problems.
what people are asking for is stuff (panel manager, panels, wm6.5) which people that bought the x1 are not titled to and if SE kept giving x1 users free stuff (like wm 6.5 which they have to pay license frees to give) they would go bust.
if u want the new stuff buy a x2 or wait till its leaked onto the forum.
Thanks for the support.
To some critic:
I think there is a huge difference between Windows and Windows mobile.
While Windows is the main OS in personal computer market and sold between 100 and 300 € Windows Mobile is not avaible to buy by the end costumer. Only producers can buy it for their products. Although Windows mobile cost just about 5-10 $ (rumors, we cant by sure about that but it has to be there somewere). I would not be that angry if Sony Erricson / Microsoft would give me the opportunity to buy Windows Mobile 6.5 for something about 10 € without losing warranty. The X2 has only a minimal improved hardware and the customs roms shows us that the X1 can run 6.5 fine - Where is our opporunity to upgrade ?
Therfore I totaly agree with caliban2.
And too orelsi:
To 1) we will see
To 2) I will write it but I want to write a letter we can all identify with and collect all arguments.

jap, made a typo above - it started at 699,- here. does it matter if it started in the end of september or 2 weeks later in mid-october?
se still left the x1 in april, which is about a half year, give or take.
i'm not interested in the new stuff, the panels, some x2-games - i can get everything if i need here or on other sites.
but what i want:
the most pressing bugs fixed (vid-playback, stability, etc). i don't know how you can say everything is working smooth and fast now... i want the substructure to be fixed. i'm normally on custom roms, but yesterday i flashed the official r3, because i had to try something - it's still horrible! every late custom rom with x2-drivers and the leaked 6.5-kernel feels nearly twice as fast!
so, looking at how the x1 has positioned and looking at it's competitors, it's been a ripoff.
but let's not start a flamewar here. if you're happy and content - good for you. all i wanted to say is that se stopped developing/supporting the x1 after ~6 months, not a year as it's always said. (apart from fixing broken phones on warranty, which is something completly different)
se never promised 6.5 on the x1. They don't need or have to do it. Stop whining about losing something that you were never promised in the first place
hey orelsi, just curious:
is this the max font size on xda or does it get even bigger? you might change the colour to red and use underlines though, you know, so that really noone can miss your post.

Do I want a new update? I don't really care. Everything is as close to perfect as humanly possible. Sure, I wouldn't mind one or one thousand more, but...
Do I need a new updae? Not really. Reasons stated above.
The R3A fixed many of the bugs and issues woth stability, etc. Anything else can be fixed by simple tweaking.
The X1 is fast, smooth and bug free. I am happy with it and I'm quite hard to satisfy when it comes to technology.
SE's support sucks. Their attitude sucks.
BUT
They are notorious for not providing many updates to their phones, so the X1 had some luck in that area. SE's policy is ****ty at best, but it has been like that for years. If you don't like it, you shouldn't have gotten the X1. Buy something else in the future...
Slowly Dead, I agree with you even being a lawyer. Sure SE has no obligation, but for a device like the X1 support and updates should be something to go without saying. This is my first SE unit and if we do not get service, we will go with companies which offer services like HTC. The ability to upgrade with XDA -many thanks - is not an argument to benefit SE. Certain customary standards aplly to SE and if not kept, they are out.
We never said that SE promised us the update. All we say is that we like to see 6.5 on our phones and we ask SE to make that update so WE MIGHT CONSIDER A SE PHONE AGAIN!
If your x1 is perfect, do not dare to download 6.5 if it pops up, @orelsi

They have provided 2 updates already. They fixed most of the problems and issues.
They DO NOT need to provide WinMo 6.5.....
Updating customer devices regularly to fix problems - mandatory.
Upgrading customers devices with newer OS (never promised or hinted when the sell was made) - NOT mandatory.
Want a newer OS? Buy a new device, because bno one promised you and upgrade. No one will do it just because you want it..... If wishes were pennies......

You - We want 6.5
SE - Why should we give it to you?
You - We paid a premium price for the X1!
SE - Yes you did and we gave you an OS with it didn't we?
You - Yes, but it was 6.1.
SE - Then you should have waited another year for 6.5.
You - But...
SE - Do you expect to get the new X2 for free, because you paid a lot of money for the X1?
You - Well, no, but...
SE - IT IS THE SAME THING!!!!!!!! Thank you and have a nice day .
You can't blackmail them to give you something for free lol. You are free to choose any other product on the market, if you don't like SE's.
What makes you come back to a company for another purchase?
1 - Nice product. Is the X1 a nice product? Yes.
2 - Quality support. Do we have this? Nope, but we got more updates than most SE phones...
3 - Free stuff? Nope... That company would go bankrupt.
I wouldn't download 6.5, because and don't like it at the moment. By the time I need it and it's bug free, It would be time for to get a new phone and that phone will have it pre-installed...

The TouchHD, which is also one year old, will not have WM6.5 update

Do you think prices for the phone will start falling? The phone is essentially a dead end unless the wizards of xda cook something up.
I cannot stand this blabbering about "HD2 as a dead phone". There is NO WP7S to come within the next at least 6 months... AND WP6.5.x seems to go on. HD2 is still THE phone that you have to buy today if you want by far the best Win-Phone. The prices won't suffer some kind of inflation too soon... It hasn't been launched in the US at all and it stays the HTC-flagship until HD3 will be launched in the end of this year.
Well the price for the phone through mobile service providers is already low... I got mine for 79€ and another 24 months commitment.
I don't really see why they'd bring the price down any lower... They never claimed it would be upgradable to WP7 so why should they feel obliged to lower the price?
Am I the only one who wants to wait and see what WP7 turns out like before even considering using it? I think it looks interesting but I'm far from sure that it will be able to meet my needs as well as the HD2 and WM6.5 does.
US phones
It essentially is a dead end product. We don't know if xda's cooks will be able to get 7 going on it. I'd like to buy a phone that will last me a couple of years. The Australian version that works with AT&T here in the US, is still very expensive for us. Almost $1,000. Too much money for me. I can't imagine switching over to t-mobile though.
Price will come down anyways. It will take some times but you can get them with some carriers for cheaper as other posters have mentioned.
I don't see any relationship between the price and actually the phone not being upgradable to WP7.
It is still too early to see anything.
IF there is a "WP7-related" price fall at some point, it won't be before WP7 devices are actually selling. You've got time ahead.
Are all the people who keep repeating HD2 is 'dead-end', 'outdated', 'old', 'no wp7 upgrade' looking to buy up some cheap HD2s on ebay?
it is a dead end NOW, cause developers are ALREADY abandoning wm6.5.x
like adobe, skype and a lot more.

why on earth you say such bulls**ts?
Dead end my a$$! There are people all over the world working with their HTC Touch Diamond and WM6.5 with the help of xda's chefs!
You got the most powerfull device on the market and you already say that is dead while WM6.5 was released no more than 6 months ago? Dear friend you're totally OUT! You better buy an Iphone and work with a closed minded, kid oriented operated system istead of the best OS and phone on the market.
The HD2 is the BEST phone on the market today, no questions and I think it will not be reached very soon. Fast, smooth and good looking.
With help of the chefs, this device will last very long.

then you are happy u wont get FLASH 10.1 from adobe like the one on android? U are happy that most companies have abandon developing for WinMO 6.5??
no more support from skype and etc etc???
its already a dead end thanx to microsoft
Microsoft confirms lack of backward compatibility in Windows Phone 7

This obviously killed WinMO 6.5 and below.

I bet my a$$ that we'll have cooked ROM with WP7 on our HD2...
HD2 RULZ
yeah...if we are able to port/cook wm7 on our phones, that would be great..if not..then i guess ALL the WM6.5 phones and below are dead end..
I mean before this, newly release winmo still support backward compatibility. In fact my old age dopod 838 pro with WM 5.0 can still run current apps without prob.
damn u MS for making Wp7s backward incompatible, and no multitask (hope it will have multitask, waiting for mix10)
u killed the power of WInMO to make something pretty and brainless.

Is there an official statement of any of that from MS themselves? Or are you just jumping on the bandwagon and spouting "what I 'eard of't internet"
I went ahead and made a petition for Android on the HD2. HTC probably won't care and it sucks that it's come to this but whatever. At least this way we'd have an amazing device WITH an OS that will be supported down the line. Theres a field to state whether you're a current or potential owner as well. I couldn't hotlink since I'm a newb so add the www below...

Hmnn, good luck with that. I doubt that HTC would care. They are a commercial organsiation, they sell phones, hell, they've won, they got you (and me) to buy an HD2. I chose it for what it was at the time, and it's still the same excellent phone. Developments and politics surrounding Windows Phone 7 Series hasn't affected it's ability to operate. HTC will be wanting people to buy Desires and Supersonics and whatever the next big Android phone is. You might get Android via the back door if someone ports it from a similar spec'd device but i honestly think nothing official will happen. The small number of people interested in migrating their HD2's to Android would be a tiny drop in a massive ocean of commercial opportunities for HTC (but how many people would demand it it to be free if HTC offered it but asked for a porting charge for any driver development changes?). I really don't think that the disappointment felt by some that their HD2's won't be officially, and freely, upgraded to Windows Phone 7 Series is of interest to HTC (or Microsoft either).
That's my honest opinion. Good luck.
there's no way in hell HTC would do this with Desire coming out.
I'm with u Pikasso1, it would be nice to have another O.S in our HD's (Android, linux), only to **** MS to hell!, in my opinion, I don't care if MS brings WinMo 7 to another phones and not to HD2, with 3, 4 or 532 buttons, I piss off over it, I changed from an I900 Omnia to HD2 by the capacitative screen ONLY (I use caps lock to mark the only reason, not big screen, SnapDragon, or nothing else), MS tells us that don't upgrade, HTC get a slap in the face, ****'em & HTC!, the phone itself it's a big machine, I can do a lot of things (even call! ), I think there is HD2 for long (and WinMo 6.5 too), I'll can see videos, hear music, surf internet, and a lot of things without WinMo 7 or another O.S.
How many phones with WinMO are on market? 0?, not yet?, how many with another 6.0, 6.5? millions?, it's like a big soccer score!, in my country there is a phrase to describe this moment...to MS & HTC...Zas! en toda la boca! (Peter Griffin).

Sigh... it's true, but it's so rare that T-Mobile US gets good hardware and the one time it does... well, you know. I'd switch carriers if I wasn't paying $70 per month for unlimited everything.

Actually, I haven't bought one yet, but I'm on T-Mobile and I want one! But it's harder to justify the purchase right now. It's my favorite hardware design by a wide margin though. Plus I just thought, why not make a petition?
Well I would pay for the Android port, just for the choice, we all switch roms to improve performance. So switching between OS gives more choice, but it's not gonna happen.....…
Double LOL on this, what would be next, a petition to FORD to make an alectric engine for your car with diesel engine?
You bought winmo device not an open platform hardware.
MS should read this forum and find out how bad they truly are...
maybe they aldready have..

seriously, terribly disappointed that w7ps would not be made available to the HD2 just because of the button layout.
screw you HTC!
Signed it just for fun and to see how many people this hits... I expect we'll see a good 100 people or so, which would be a drop in the ocean next to the several hundreds of thousand HD2 owners there must be, i.e no single bit of value whatsoever

"HTC have two options either allow continued HD2 support via Android or shell out for WM6.x AND WP7S support people. You know where the smart money is HTC. Let XDA-Devs look after WM6.x and HTC can officially offer Android 2.x with support."
Anyone know why HTC have not released an official rom with this update, or even if they ever will release it? Cheers.

Several reasons.
1. It would cost them money.
2. Not developing it encourages people to buy new phone models with 6.5.3, or WP7 which makes HTC more money.
Witch is also the reason why we'll not have wm7.
I understand them not giving us wm7 (SORT OF), but 6.5.3 is just an update to what we already have, I thought it was standard to get these updates with windows phones, like auto updates on the pc. If this is how they carry on then this will be my first and last htc / windows phone. (Yes i could just flash an unofficial rom, but I have this phone on an 18 month contract so cant afford to kill the warrenty) Its like MS creating a sevice pack but not releasing it officially. So which new phones come with 6.5.3? I cant think of any.

Actually 6.5.3 or 6.5.x is way more than an update, they changed several things , so it really does not qualify as an update , more like a new sub-version ...
HTC have never been good with providing updates.
Given they have about 10 phones/year in a single category, they have no care for users of 'obsolete' (in their eyes) phones
And what's this talke of witches?
"us" get it in the backside!
htc, may be bad with updates. however us in the US have only gotten one update. it is like every other week i see an update or hotfix for every other country! we are so lucky to have a great place like this to get our phones even close to as updated as the rest of the world!
THANK YOU XDA and all of the great and generous developers that make it this great!

How hard is it for HTC to sort out a new rom with the latest 6.5x, cooks on here do it no trouble, and like peeps are gonna go out n get a new handset just for what is really just an update to what they already have, like I said, windows phone 7 is a brand new o.s, and I understand not getting that for free, but the 6.5x are just updates making it how it should have been in the first place. I would have though HTC would want to look after there existing customers, not make em feel like there brand new phones are outdated a week after they have got them. Like a HD2 owner is gonna go out and buy a brand new phone with 6.5x on it with 7 around the corner, so why not hook the peeps with 6.5 up, thus ensuring customer loyalty?

Have an iPhone 3G and it is JBd and unlocked. Refuse to keep updating it via iTunes. Apple has a good piece of Hardware, a lot of good apps, but they refuse to allow people who bought their phone and now own their phone to customize it. That is pure 'Dicktatorship.' LOL
Freedom of choice and optimization/customization is what makes us the USA!
So, iPhone or HTC, AT&T or T-Mobile is a choice you have. Apparently your choice is?
Thanks for your Opinion.
