Question Does anyone know of a resin printer that can have a rpi hookup? - 3D Printers

My family and I are looking for a cheap resin printer, but it would be great if we could find one that can have a hookup to a Raspberry Pi. Does anyone know of one? (Preferably under $300)

Hi I actually have nothing constructive to offer just wanted to be the first to post on this forum.
very constructive indeed... and, you weren't the first... OliNex were
Very constructive!
Are there actualy any specific HTC accessories anymore? Now that they insist on putting that damn mini USB port on everything.... Stuff like wired and bluetooth headsets should work across the board...
The only accessory I can think of that changes with each model are the powered in-car mounts. I spent a few quid on one for my Wizard and then bought the Kaiser a few months later and it's a different shape and there's nowhere for the audio jack to go! D'oh!
Lesson for the future: Buy a cheap adjustable mount and just bung a charger cable in the phone!
well spare battery never hurts!
im particularly interested in the video out. saves me carrying my notebook to conferences when i have to address a bunch of people on the future trends of microelectronics and microphotonics.
hope the resolution is good.

However what I would like to try is some video specs. now that would be great to watch movies with. anyone know of good ones?
I've always had the best luck with stuff from Seidio. I'm done wasting $ on the Ebay crap.
**EDIT**
Eagerly waiting for this phone...

Raspberry Pi

I found this device. It is a full PC with an ARM Brodcome 700MHz CPU, 128 or 256 MB of ram and it is going to cost 25/35$. It is designed to run Linux (Debia,Arch,Fedora and more)
I was just wondering if it is possible to run Android on it. The possibilities are endless.
raspberrypi.org
I saw your post and i am quite amazed why none of the guys said anything about Raspberry Pi .I am waiting the time to buy a few of them ,maybe 2 or 3 .If you search the ebay you can see they sell the beta raspberry boards and the price now is too high from the bids..Official site http://www.raspberrypi.org/
This is the third thread I have seen about Raspberry Pi.
You should search before spamming.
I'd love to team this up with a touch screen and see what we could build. Seems like for ~$60 you could have a dedicated android appliance for all types of things!

Not when I opened this thread. I used the search several times to be shoure that my question haven't answered before. I have seen pi mentioned in some threads.

Yes this is one way to go an inexpensive hand made tablet although it would cost more then 60$
If you give 35$ for the Pi and then another 15-20$ for the sd card you allready have 50-55$ and unfortunately the touch screen without multi touch costs over 80$ .If you know anywhere to buy cheaper please inform me .
Will it run Crysis?

Does your phone?
I just ordered a replacement screen for my Dell streak that was $35. It's a great little screen with responsive touch. Not sure how to connect it to VGA or hdmi or whatever though...
Been following this for a long time, and looks like a great idea! Nice idea about putting android on it, but linux would be cool too!
seems like cool product to buy. If it runs linux its fine by me and the interesting point of installing android on it is also nice
hey
This thread is the longest, so i will post here.
manufacturing of the first 10 000 units has begun....

i'm mightygoose on the boards over there too.
Super cheap Google TV implementation?
I'm going to start trying to get this running as a Google TV as soon as I get one. This is a perfect platform for it.
The way I would like to use pi
I would like to see android for this little board, who needs touch if you plan to use it on a tv or larg format display. Just give me an android build that can use a mouse with, like android x68. I have seen a youtube vid of android x86 used on netbooks. I just think that would be great; too bad we cant get them retail yet but we will have it soon, then i hope to see lots of development for this great toy.
http://www.raspberrypi.org/
looks like they have a release date of February 20th.
Reading on the Raspberry Pi website it has been revealed that in can be run on 4 X AA Batteries, not really sure how long it would last though.
Also with regards to the small touchscreen, they're not as exspensive as you would imagine, I have already purched a controller for an LCD Screen I salvaged from an old P4 Prescott Laptop, encased them both in a Pine frame and have a very cheap 15.6" LCD PC Monitor.
Take a look here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/njytouch/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686
And finally on the original topic of porting Android onto the raspberry Pi you can't use Android-x86 as the Broadcomm chip doesn't support the X86 Architecture - help is at hand though as they have released a datasheet to help people port software onto the Pi.
Copied from RaspberryPi.org = "There’s another big piece of news today. We’ve been leaning (gently and charmingly) on Broadcom, who make BCM2835, the SoC at the heart of the Raspberry Pi, to produce an abbreviated datasheet describing the ARM peripherals in the chip. If you’re a casual user, this won’t be of much interest to you, but if you’re wanting to port your own operating system or just want to understand our Linux kernel sources, this is the document for you. You can download a PDF here. Huge thanks to Gert, JamesH, Gray and Dom for, once again, going above and beyond for us. We really appreciate it."
Download Link for the PDF: http://dmkenr5gtnd8f.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/BCM2835-ARM-Peripherals.pdf
Best Regards.

Custom Nexus Player with 3-port hub & 512gb storage! Yes or No?

I been waiting for Google to release a new NP with better specs, however I really don't need 4K or Ethernet, so I am wondering if I should just build my own with the specs/features I wanted from the start?
Here's what I was thinking of doing.
1. Buy a round powered USB 2.0 hub, such as this.
2. Install a 500gb SSD in USB mode hidden inside the HUB (yes I can easily do this).
3. Build a short OTG cable, Micro to Mini USB.
4. Velcro the NP perfectly centered to the top of the round USB hub. Using velcro keeps the NP button available at least. And using a OTG cable instead of hard wiring the HUB to the NP also allows me to detach each section for easy access or NP resale.
Specs would then become:
Nexus Player with 500GB storage and 3 port USB Hub all built into one fairly small streaming device.
OR should I wait longer to see if Google does something like this anyway in 2016 (similar to the NVIDIA Shield)? The engineering and work would be pretty simple for this veteran Electronics Tech, but the wait for Google to do it is really getting on my nerves. If I do it, it will look damn near like a consumer product anyway, but if I wait for Google to do it it will probably have Ethernet and 4K/60 built in. Not sure if its worth building myself this device, this late in the NP life cycle.
Any takers/suggestions on my idea? Just not sure the next Nexus Player will be worth waiting for. lol, but it sure would be fun to build such a device myself.

Awesome idea if you have the time for it, I really dont think Google will be making another streaming box anytime soon.
Yeah that's my fear too. For me having the Nexus name on my devices is of utmost importance. However with what Asus ceo said about developing many devices for Google at the moment makes me wonder if one of them could be a new NP.
Thanks for the reply.

I'd do it just cuz it sounds cool as Hell. And you know it'll be awhile before they come out with the 500gb nexus player.

Yeah, I was thinking that 500gb might be a tad much anyway. I have a dozen retired SSD's lying around already, a bunch of 32gb models from OCZ, and several from Crucial and Intel in the 64gb, and 128gb range. Maybe one of those would be small enough to fit. I know most if not all of the newer SSD's from 2014, 2015 etc are very small inside when they are of say 128gb and 256gb because they usually only have one or two chips at most, thus the PCB's are very small. I bet the old OCZ drives I have are just too big. Oh heck with it, Ill open one up right now and take a peek, lol. BRB
OK, yeah the old OCZ Vertexs PCBs are too big I think to fit inside that round hub. I guess I need that hub in order to know for sure how much space I have to work with.
If you get it working post some pics

Sure thing :good:
The nexus player wasn't a success because of the issues early on which is a shame because now it really is a decent streaming box. I don't think we'll see anyone release something similar anytime soon. I only picked up one because of the fire sale at target and decided to replace my roku with it.
I'm going to install the PureNexus rom for the Nexus Player with an OTG cable and a usb/network dongle that was recently posted, will report back!

Plugable USB2-E1000
You can get it via Ebay or NewEgg,
Amazon also has it, but they have screwed up this and 4 of my Prime Order deliveries in the past 10 days, delays and excuses each time. If you can avoid using Amazon, do so.
You can get a short micro-usb OTG cable for like under $1.50 easy on ebay. I think i might have gotten a few for 28 cents. Just bid on a few of them lol or pay the $1.83 buy it now. or it might be $1.50. seller is based in cali so shipping is quick. i'm using a targus 3 port hub for a laptop., and a logitech k400 keyboard/trackpad, and a 32 gb usb thumb drive from microcenter that was free. oh and i paid $15.xx for my nexusplayer on clearance from target.

I would prefer to manufacture my own OTG cable with my own specs from the many cable parts I already have in stock. However, $15 for the NP is exactly what I been looking for and still have not found. I'm still looking and some day, maybe soon for Christmas sale or clearance I might find one. I could go to town everyday, day after day until it goes on sale but then I would have spent $1000 in gasoline just to find it for $15, lol. Probably best I just buy it for $50 at ebay I think, assuming it never goes on sale online again.

Repurpose Motorola Xoom to become a Nest Hub?

Is it possible to repurpose our beloved Xoom into a smart display? It would be nice if we can port the nest hub OS (Is it Android things?) into the Xoom and prop it up.
Is it possible? Are there any rom wizards out there willing to give this a shot?
That is a great idea! I hope somebody has the notion to do such a thing.

Keyboard for 10.1 Inch Pogo Pin Connector?

Hello there!
About a week ago I picked up a 10.1" Onn Pro 2020 tablet, and I noticed that it has pins on the side. After consulting the user manual, I discovered that they are connectors for a pogo pin keyboard. I would very much like to have a wired keyboard cover, but I cannot seem to find any information about what keyboard would be compatible. I believe that Onn is a Walmart exclusive brand, but i can't seem to find a proper keyboard on their website or anywhere else for that matter. There are 7 pins on the connector.
If anyone knows where I can buy a keyboard for this tablet, I would greatly appreciate their guidance.
Thanks for reading, and have a great day!

The first version of the Onn 10.1" was offered with a keyboard, so I wondered if that keyboard might be compatible. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it. The first version only has 5 pins.
With the manufacturer's name and model number, you might be able to find the keyboard on a Chinese website. The original was also marketed as a "Surf" tablet.
Good luck.
