LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 13 (T), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. This version comes in two flavors, GMS and vanilla. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review.

Thanks friend. Just what I ve ben waiting for.

This looks tasty!
Two Questions:
(A) Is it possible to upgrade from your other LineageOS 18.1 Rom, or is a clean install required?
(B) I do a lot of long exposure pictures and therefore use the pro mode on the stock camera app quite often. Is it included again? (The camera app in LineageOS was always very limited years ago, I don't know how it is now.)

A) you can't dirty flash, clean flash required
B) the stock cam is not included, but the aperture camera lineage 20 comes with is really great, not sure about long exposure shots tho, probably some gcam would suit that need nicely

Hi,
I installed your rom on my Mi A3 European model.
Since one week, everything went well, and overall everything works fine except:
- SMS won't send if LTE call are activate (I use google message app)
- Battery decreases when I use android auto in my car (connected on USB) whereas before (A11 xiaomi stock rom) my phone was charging
- The "night filter lighting" is too much yellow even when setting it to the minimum (0% now is ~30% before on A11 xiaomi stock rom)
- The automatic brightness works badly (I had to use macrodroid to manage this setting)
Otherwise thank you very much for your work, everything else works perfectly for the moment. It's the first time I use lineageos on my phone, how will it be for updates? (OTA or manually?)

1st and 2nd issues i haven't encountered (i don't have android auto easily accessible to test), night light can somewhat be tuned manually via the live display color calibration, auto brightness is tuned to your usage, if you have it enabled try nudging the bar to how you like it, after a while it will follow the preferences you set.
I might implement OTA, but that would still require at least one manual upgrade
Glad you enjoy the rom

Thanks a lot for the rom. Everything works perfect out of the box. I did a clean install coming from your lineageos 18 build. The new lineageos camera app is really good. I could easily install microG and universal safetynet fix. If we can't find updates here, I'll take a look at your telegram channel OTA would be a great solution to this.

Any chance of trying to go official? The immediate advantage would be the automated (weekly) builds, with free OTA upgrades, and fixes from the upstream devs when they break things on their side.

Hi,
For Android Auto, I tried with another USB cable and it charges correctly during use. It's strange the USB cable I had, worked perfectly for 2 years, I tried it again after android auto update and the phone still discharges but less... I think it comes from android Auto updates more than your rom.
Now I'm looking to recover the stock camera app from the mi A3 which allows the use of wide angle, the 48Mpx sensor and saving directy on SD card.
Anyone tried ANXCamera?

Can you release a version without the GAPPS ?
Or at least with the minimal Pico variant?
There are people who really dislike to see google everywhere and prefer to use devices that are out of the scope of constant surveillance and some of them prefer using LOS exactly with that idea in mind.

There are several problems with official, the source modifications i made aren't allowed in official (without them performance would be slower, FOD would be blinding, just to name a few)

Please read the post again, especially the download section, the vanilla version is available, and the gms variant is (as it states in the notes) only core Gapps (playstore and play services)

Thanks for your time
Edit (quick reply posted prematurely on line change, sorry): Because you already build two different versions (GMS and vanilla) maybe it would be feasible to have the "less than ideal but well supported" official version while still keeping the "optimized and overall better" fork? Just spitballing here, I am fully aware of the hurdles the device charter creates -- incidentally, those that make it through the process usually end-up being well supported all-around.

I second that, that would be wonderful. People are so disappointed by Xiaomi about the A3. A nice device with great hardware but abandoned early by Xiami and the community and lots of problems during its official life span.

I thought long and hard about applying for official, but in the end i didn't think it would succeed, there are a plethora of different officially supported roms for A3 which would all perform better than Lineage official, and i feel that official is really limiting what i can do. About mainting two versions, yes i do, theoretically even 4 versions (GMS/Vanilla for Los 18/20), but official also needs a lot of attention, they require you to spend time on it, and that would mean it would eat more of my time, doing a thing i do not believe will succeed (maybe the fod can be fixed, but geekbench scores and others cannot be easily fixed from the device tree alone)
And what do you mean about the good all-round support? Getting regular updates?
The whole device tree and vendor passes the device requirements afaik, but i don't wanna release a build with FOD that doesn't have dimming, it would really make the build failed in my eyes.

Hey thank you for this great ROM, I really love it, it has much better functionality then stock. I like the adb root feature. Of course official would be nice, but I understand your decision.
I am having only one issue: When calling with headset via audio jack the volume is way to high even on the lowest setting. Is there any way to change this? Couldn't find a proper way to adjust that.
Thank you for a reply

Hey, I am interested in installing this on my Xiaomi MI A3. Does it support adding a work profile/account? This is a feature that I use on my stock rom and it is essential. Thanks

Are you talking about the launcher (some google launchers have seperate tabs at the top to pick which profile to open an app in) or system wide (when you have a logo in the status bar/qs that you can open to sign in to another "account")?

- There are bugs and we know them all. Don't try to report bugs or complain about. We'll blacklist you.
- No, we don't accept feature request. We've enough work to do with fixing bugs.
- Don't ask for changelogs!
- Never ask for new builds!
- Use it or leave it!
- Don't create a ROM based upon this! Creating a ROM on a buggy and unstable base is a stupid idea!
- kkthxbye
- UI: Apps like NHK are broken
- Audio: bugs, missing features
- Camera: Recording partially broken
- FM Radio: unsupported
- TV Out: unsupported, not likely to ever work (there is small hope now but not much)
- Lots of missing and yet unimplemented features
- and a lot more
First time installing CyanogenMod 10.1 to your Galaxy S II, or coming from another ROM:
- Make sure you're NOT RUNNING A KERNEL WITH THE MMC-SUPERBRICK-BUG. If you're unsure, flash this ClockworkMod-Recovery using Odin/Heimdall.
- Make sure you're running a proper working ClockworkMod-Recovery
- Copy GApps and CM10.1 ZIPs to your internal SDCard
- Boot into Recovery
- Flash CM10.1 zip from internal SDCard
- Flash GApps zip from internal SDCard
- DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET (otherwise your device will be stuck at boot)
- Reboot
- Don't restore system data using Titanium Backup!
- Restoring Apps + Data might cause problems and is not recommended, avoid it if possible!
Upgrading from earlier version of CyanogenMod 10.1:
- Copy CM10.1 ZIP to your internal SDCard
- Boot into Recovery
- Flash CM10.1 zip from internal SDCard
- Reboot

- are not running stock cm-kernel
- have installed any mods
- have modified system files

Thanks to all donators!
Things definitely broken
In addition to the stuff in OP from codeworkx:
Wifi tethering doesn't work - Bluetooth tethering does
HWComposer barely works - passes vsync and not much else. Run NHK World Live TV app and you'll see why it's broken
Lots of core non-device specific CM features are not yet reimplemented. This includes stylus gesture support, palm rejection, and control of stylus hover icon.
Camera doesn't appear on lockscreen - and it will not appear at all with many gapps packages
Audio HAL isn't fully reimplemented - no dock audio, etc.
Bluetooth SCO (calls) is busted and bluedroid spits out all sorts of bluetooth sleep control errors. We probably need to rework power management from the current mechanisms.
Misc other stuff
The holidays are coming up here in the USA. I have family visiting this weekend, and will be visiting my parents for a week the following week. I have a lot of preparation to do and my laptop can't build CM, so don't expect much to happen until the new year.
Expected 4.2 features you won't see
Some of the more well known features of 4.2 are in proprietary Google apps and libraries not part of AOSP. In addition they do device checks to make sure they're running on a Nexus. These include, at a minimum:
Photosphere - There are hacked versions without device checks floating around, but expect problems just like anyone else who has replaced CM camera/gallery with gapps camera/gallery APKs. Don't post here if you install these and have issues.
"swype" style keyboard - Also proprietary and not part of AOSP

Let's roll on !
And happy holidays Entropy and other xda members.

I do like it for the time being very much, again a big thank you @Entropy512.
Installation went fine, restore via Play Store (via WiFi, works!)
Just installed it an hour ago, so I am about to explore the features...
*Concerning the camera missing on lockscreen- it can be added via lock screen feature in the settings menu. Just added it and it works fine (gapps 2012-11-30)
*Audio - no volume bug anymore! Nice.
*GPS lock - within a minute
*Quick settings (1 and 2 finger operations work) menu are gorgeous
*Theme chooser is integrated
My first impression...if it bothers anyone

is it smooth? i mean is it usable ?
For me it is usable, yes. But I have it up and running only for 2 hours, restoring apps via play store took some time (and other things to do ), I won't judge it any further. It feels smooth to me. As I never came in touch with other devices running JB with ("real") project butter, I can't compare. But I honestly do like it already!
BTW I don't use neither an audio dock nor any Bluetooth things, so I am not bothered

Even though AA1973's comment seems really encouraging, I would not take these information as utterly true.
Indeed, Entropy clearly states that there are a lot of known bugs, and there's a high chance that we'll see "false positives" in the OS indicators.
Anyway, thanks a lot Entropy for your hard work, I think I can speak in the name of many of us when I say that I'm really excited at the idea of seeing CM 10.1 on the Note.
Happy holidays to you all.

Features:
Welcome to VanirAOSP. Our mission is to deliver a clean optimized version of Android with subtly improved versions of the features you love to as many devices as possible. we've tried to incorporate and improve our features in a way that makes them more cohesive to improve the overall user experience while correcting any performance regressions and improving functionality..
What to expect:
- This is not a McCopy ROM. What goes into our build is well thought-out and not a bunch of stuff duck taped together because we could.
- maximum optimization. We do our research. We test hard. We build -fstrict -O3 globally and include a massive array of code optimizations and memory leak fixes that we write ourselves and eventually submit to AOSP or Linaro.
- originality in our source. We generate a lot of new commits being features or general code improvements. We are open source to share and improve the community but we also try to make sure we offer a unique experience.
- aesthetics.. hopefully in your opinion
General features:
stock mode - ability revert to stock AOSP code with the exception of a few custom features we chose to keep active
enhanced performance.. longer uptime with less slowdown
custom written CRON and init.d.
UI and graphics improvements
custom navbar, navring, and hardware key features
improved notification handling (active display & halo are in review also)
usability improvements like power reboot menu and sound
animation control
Improved Vanir keyboard
CM's profiles & quicksettings
additional quicksetting tiles
immersive mode
statusbar mods
clock & battery mods
lockscreen blur and other mods
soon to come -> quick cam and flash notifications

Tethering
Nice to see a few ROMs for the T599! I am testing on the T599 T-Mobile variant.
Maybe there is an issue with Bluetooth.
Bluetooth tethering is not working.
But, WiFi tethering is working fine. :good:
Installed smoothly once I updated CWM. Will post on how it goes from here.
ps That's a bad ass boot image lol
Edit: Not a fan of how you put Vanir over the space bar, but I guess it doesn't matter because I'm not going to be using the stock keyboard anyway.
Edit2: Phone seemed to turn off randomly in the middle of the night, other than that it's working great so far.
Edit3: The music app combined with DSP Manager is pretty neat. If the music is distorting, the music app will pause to avoid damaging your system.
Edit4: Screen recording completely freezes the phone.

Screen recording doesn't work on these devices. I am removing the option that shows that to prevent device freezing.
I've redone the device tree and device is now codinalte. I made this change so that the assert checks won't allow flashing of older recoveries which would lead to device bootloops if used with the new j4fs and param setup.
Make sure you see the new instructions.
Changelog
-Used gcc 4.8 instead of 4.7 now that it's been tested.
-Removed all device asserts to prevent use of older recoveries.
-Disabled the use of screen record
-Switched device name to codinalte to cause less confusion with ace 2 users
-Upstream Vanir changes
-Philz cwm , cwm , and twrp now available for codinalte enabled builds only
Excellent ROM
Sent from my SGH-T599N using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
To everyone wondering this is the initial release of codinalte. I made this change to ensure everyone would be on the correct recovery and if you are on an older one it wouldn't let you install it . It would cause a bootloop due to the mismatch of j4fs and param module. This is the only way I can think of to ensure everyone is safe.

Yes , we should all have the same bugs. The only ones that will make a difference are rom specific issues.

Here are some bugs I'd experienced recently with VanirAOSP ROM latest build.
1. Last night I had set my alarm clock to wake up this morning but the alarm didn't go off because I found my phone shutdown or powered off. Apparently the randomly shutdown in the middle of the night.
2. Yesterday I had two occasions where my Network was lost completely. I had to reboot the phone to get it back.
3. I noticed that when I receive a call or make a call the volume sounds like is half way down. I always have my volume set all the way up. When someone calls me I have to hit the volume down one or twice and then back up to fix the loudness of the call. Something is not right.
4. I noticed that when ever I play and embedded YouTube Video whether in a Browser of any kind or an RSS Reader it FCs the application before the video starts. All the time. Here is an example. I recorder this LogCat for you....https://www.dropbox.com/s/aaf7wgywrf66b7a/2014-03-17-14-15-24.txt I try playing a YouTube video on this website.. http://sploid.gizmodo.com/here-are-7-facts-about-superheroes-you-probably-didnt-1541767101 on the AOSP Browser and same thing happens with other Browsers and apps with YouTube Video embedded in them.

You could try this for low call fix http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2676518
Use the onlyincallfix.apk it should work to fix volume please confirm this.
The video problem is due to the patches we used not supporting a certain function required for the video playing. The phone randomly dying is something i know nothing about as of yet.
Does it work on the international version and does it have random reboots like in the latest CM11?

This is not for s3 mini. Please wait some time for me do a test build. I don't have the s3 mini but it's a similar device. If you want I can send you a pm of the test build. Please continue this conversation in a private message.
Phone died overnight even though on charger. I believe its the performance function. Installed voltage control. Still testing. Will post results.

I am looking into it. I haven't noticed why it did that yet. I can add back dvfs limit if you think it's the voltage. Basically you won't be able to use performance control it will stay at 0 for min and max.

The same thing happened to me, but while running Beanstalk. I have been running Vanir for the past few days and I have not seen any issues with FC or reboot yet. Battery life appears to be excellent, lasting 48 + hours with light use.
I am running the T-Mobile variant.

Android M is coming tomorrow to an i9000 near you!

OK,
so i thought I would let everyone know tomorrow I will release the first M release for i9000, the reason I waited so long is because I felt it was pointless to release something that was barley working, now keep in mind there are still many stuff still to fix but its a great achievement after weeks of work which I would like to share with you.
So the first ROM will be OMNI, and before you all go crazy and say "you promised CM", It may come later but right now CM is so bloated its not worth it, I got it running but its slow as hell and has more work to do to bring it up.
Omni is usable but don't expect 5.1.1 performance, even using the overclocked kernel its pretty damn slow with the google framework.
Anyway here is the current progress:
Fully Working:
* Wifi
* RIL
* Sensors
* Audio
Unknown/half-baked:
* GPS (I'm not sure, I think it needs a few updates so don't count on it)
* BT (it turn on and connects but sometimes disconnects itself, anyway its 50% done)
* Camera (doesn't work using aosp app, works on 3rd party apps but for some reason rotation doesn't always work)
* Storage works but since we can't emulate partitions yet we only can used the shared data partition so no access to the full storage only 1.5GB or so, I will fix it once I figure out how to apply LVM to android M
Notes: I created a special gapps since system partition is too small even for omni and a pico gapps, it removes some apps that can be downloaded via play store such as browser and camera.
Also keep in mind its pretty sluggish at times, memory is used 100% of the time and zRAM is pretty slow
I will upload the package tomorrow.
On a side note: I used a special dedicated server with high speed internet to sync and push commits, I can't afford it myself anymore, its only $50 a month but sadly its too much for me, if I don't renew it by the 2, they will close me down and I will need to work on my home PC which is much slower and will take longer to compile, if anyone can donate anything it would help. I also spent $50 on this phone (I own a LG G3 as my main device) just to show you how much I want to help everyone out. its a fun hobby
Anyway feel free to comment.

Not sure exactly your sources, but with bluetooth you probably want to modify bdroid_buildcfg.h in device/samsung/galaxysmtd and disable BLE, GATT, and SMP from the bluetooth stack. To fix compilation issues, you will then need to apply Dmitry Grindberg's system/bt patch.
For the insufficient storage for gapps problem, you could try modifying the updater.sh and changing the SYSTEM_SIZE declaration near the top to something larger. Note that this does take away from /data. You could also try disabling DEX_PREOPT if you haven't already.
Did you get selinux working, even in permissive mode? If so, then I could probably help with creating the proper policies to set it to enforcing.
Anyways, thanks for all your work!

Hey, regarding BT, it compiles fine, and turns on fine, i can connect to other devices, but sometimes get disconnections, in short its just not 100% stable
storage i'll look into it, thanks for the tip.
selinux is disabled right now, if you want to help me with se policies that would be great, i can probably do it myself but help would be great.
What wo;; DEX_PREOPT do?
big question is how to get it running smoother, even using commits from your kernel for OC its still slow as hell with gapps...

DEX_PREOPT basically pre-compiles the system apps for ART. You can read more about it at https://source.android.com/devices/tech/dalvik/configure.html. It speeds up the first boot significantly at the trade-off for storage space. We have it enabled in BoardConfigCommon.mk
For the BT bit, when I first brought up my variant to Omni5.1 I didn't have those bits disabled and I got similar random disconnections, etc so I figured it might be a similar problem (plus on the CM13 branch on your github you have them enabled).
With selinux, where is it disabled? l couldn't get anything to boot if I had selinux enabled in the defconfig, but when I disabled selinx (as you have in the android-6.0 branch of your kernel) then things started booting.
And I have no idea how to get it running smoother....

HP touchpad has 1GB of ram, that will work ok on 6.0, the i9000 has 512MB which 380MB are used for actual OS use, so you really are pushing the limit, i'll look into it in any case.
Also, official thread is up in development forum, I'm uploading the build now
Thanks God it's not CM. Please, not CM. Always that damn CM! Why? It is good, yes, but usually more laggy than others.

.... What ?
This is a rom i put together as a daily driver. But which has slowly grown into a project.
It is now indeed a stable daily driver, exceeding my initial expectations considerably, everything works ( well ! ) , the Antutu Benchmarks show it to be the fastest benchmarked t705 in xda.
Do not be fooled by its TW base, there is very little left of the ( quite literally ) hundreds of Sec utils, just the stuff you need.
Each system component of Fenris has been scrutinized as regards memory usage and cpu cycles ( well as much scrutiny as the massively complex memory management of modern android allows ) , anything not meeting my expectations has been replaced or removed.
.... XDA Edition ?
Fenris has 2 editions
a) Fenris standard , concentrating on penetration and just as importantly defense from penetration !!
b) Fenris XDA , concentrating on defense from penetration.
As time goes by and my experience of the very very black professional ha**er scene increases i will be building frontline defences against the worst exploits commonly used, directly into Fenris.
Since a lot of the source ( all of the base source ) comes from the good people on this site i have felt compelled to share.
Fenris standard is obviously not hosted on XDA.
.... Trust
Modifications and patches will be logged in a github page for public scrutiny, but at the end of the day unless your a C++/Java coder one has zero idea if some tiny code change is actually malicious.
Its a matter of trust, ultimately i have to trust the patches and defenses i include into Fenris ( obviously i scrutinize what i can ), and i have to trust the Samsung propriety code. If you want to use Fenris, you have to trust me lol.
.... Base
Android Version …. 6.01
Base…. https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-tabs/SM-T705/TGY/download/T705ZHU1CQB1/124107/
Build Date …. Mon, 13 Feb 2017 06:03:11 +0000
Modem…. T705ZHU1CQB1
........ Features
Stripped to the bone of Samsung crapware
AOSP Launcher 3
Hackers Keyboard ( English dictionary ) ( Samsung keyboard had a bug )
Floating window and multiwindow
Supersu preinstalled into /system
Xposed preinstalled into /system
BusyBox preinstalled
Huge number of Android naitive compiled binaries ( Bash nano and many more )
Preinstalled and working microg ( open source gapps alternative )
Preinstalled , and pre-researched Xposed modules, System tools.
Custom kernel, selinux permissive, Samsung configs removed.
Old style installer, make system changes easily without having to extract images
.... Why ?
I am a lifelong AOSP user ( in various incarnations CM, Vanir,AICP etc on various devices ) and would normally be using Vanir on this device, but the fingerprint and text situation of CM13 has finally stopped me ( when I realised I actually liked having a fingerprint sensor ).
Firmly stuck with a TouchWizz ( TW ) base I resolved to strip the stock image down to the very bone, in an effort to somehow mimic the streamlined performance of Vanir.
My interests include Pentesting and Linux in general, so this Rom had to be compatible with both
.... Design
There is always a trade-off in any system between functionality and resource usage ( in this case ram and cpu cycles ), i am firmly on the resource side .
I believe the function of an OS is to better facilitate the running of programs , NOT to replace the programs with OS native attempts at the same.
Given that this ROM is all about minimizing cpu and ram usage , while at the same time keeping core functionality ( at this point have to admit i kept a few processes that have nothing to do with core functions , i just found then extremely cool ).
The target was to approach the cpu/ram usage of a similar cm13 build, i feel that has been achieved, Fenris runs with approx 15% greater resource usage ( than a cm13 build ). I think it would be very difficult if not impossible to get any nearer to AOSP/CM performance , and keep the cool stuff.
.... Keeping processes in check
There is little point in all this optimization effort on the OS if along comes a badly written program to ruin the whole show, normally this is in the hands of the user , but when it comes to gapps its not in the hands of the user..
Google play services can be considered a system component, the APIs it presents, are required for quite a few of the apps i like. And as such its resource usage must be considered ..
GMS started off ( around v4..xxx to 5..xxx when i started tracking it ) with heavy but acceptable resource usage, it was also to a degree customisable by disabling services and receivers.
By v11..xxxx it had grown by about 50% both in ram and cpu usage. So what to do ?
https://microg.org is the answer in this case
And is fully implemented into Fenris, more importantly it works at a tiny fraction of the resource usage of GMS and associated components.
Its such a vital project that i would ask anyone using Fenris for their own benefit to donate or contribute to https://microg.org
.... Linux
I use linux a lot and always like to have a bash terminal handy, so I imported bash from Vanir CM13 build, nano also from the same, SSH plus a bag of others ( thanks nanomod ) All are native and work within the android directory hierarchy.
.... User pre install configuration
Fenris is packaged oldschool style , and is totally open for a user to modify as required without having to extract and repack a sparse image,
Just open up the archive and modify the contents of the system directory as required, the installer script will cope with additions and deletions for the most part.
.......In development
Frontline R.A.T protection , specificaly against AndroRAT and clones.
"Remote administration tool : A RAT or remote administration tool, is software that gives a person full control a technical device, remotely. The RAT gives the user access to your system, just as if they had physical access to your device. With this access, the person can access your files, use your camera, and even turn on/off your device. Once the RAT is installed on your device, the hacker can wreak havoc. They could steal your sensitive information, block your keyboard so you can’t type, install other malware, and even render your devices useless. A well-designed RAT will allow the hacker the ability to do anything that they could do with physical access to the device."
This is one of the primary attack methods employed today, they DO NOT NEED ROOT ,seem to be immune to permissions, and SELinux
, most use some metaspoilt attack.
The normal method of deployment is through a smali decompiled apk, which is then injected with a payload, but not at all the only method.
Soon i hope to understand the explot and suitably imunise Fenris, thus if one is picked up, it can do nothing.
Update>.......... Done, Fenrisis immune to Androrat and clones, included firewall and code updates have seen to this issue.
APK checking..........
There are a number of online APK malware checkers, that run your apk through a number of anti-virus anti-malware engines ang give a comprehensive results service, all for free, Fenris should take advantage of this in some point-and-click manner.
Update>........ looking to create a simple app to do this
Security updates.
Samsung does not push security updates for this device
https://security.samsungmobile.com/etc/qsmr_list.html
Which is a real problem, am doing best to make fenris an exception to this.

Yes, but to do it right will need an original most recent t700 samsung image, sammobile takes forever.
Plus cant test since have a t705, and althogh there should be zero problems applying the changes, you never know without exhaustive testing.
In short will require some demand, if enough guys ask , and someone is willing to beta test, then yes.
I assume your talking about the XDA eddition ? There are zero plans for Fenris standard to migrate devices.

Thank you very much !
If you find any issues please post here, and i will fix them..
Fenris ( both versions ) will be maintained for the life of my device ,which i hope is a very long time lol..
Unlike other projects i am not concentrating on the newest android release, instead continualy improving Fenris features and squashing bugs.
I will only move to Android 7 when forced to by the weight of upstream code.
Only 1 question:
I have set up everything accordingly. However, when I start my Google now, it says that the account has already been used on the device and thus cannot be re-added (!!!).
Thus, if I really need Google services, do I need to rely on Gapps instead of MicroG?
Other than that, the rom has been incredible. It even makes my S6 seem sluggish next to it! Well done, lad! Thank you so much for your time, effort and sharing!

Actually not sure about google now, its not the sort of thing i ever use. i think microg has issues with some gapps apks , its by no means a complete replacement , and nor should it be, its there to provide minimum coverage at a tiny fraction of the resources that monster GMS uses.
If its a big thing for you i think there could be a patched_to_run_with_microg version out there somewhere, post a list of those you cant live without, that do not run, and i will see if i can source working versions.
Microg conflics with gapps, and the gapps installer has no idea about microg, just flashing gapps on top of Fenris would produce some interesting results. Prob not good..
Fenris up to v15 did use a gapps version, but the effort needed to tame the monster caused me to use very extream hacks , it was not fun ! Just preventing self update is a herculean effort.
Plus a significant part of gapps is google spyware, and those apks break the 7th law of Fenris. ( well Fenris standard anyway )

Thanks mate,
The good people here are responsible for the majority of Fenris base system , so I felt compelled to share, its the only fair thing to do.
Unfortunately XDA rules preclude me sharing Fenris standard, which is understandable but a shame non the less, since that's something special : )

I see! I knew that Google services can be a massive hog (hence many people have switched to AOSP with no Google framework installed at all), however, this was the first time I had ever heard of MicroG and its aims.
I use Google now to ... search for installed apps, contacts etc on my tablet as there isn't much Samsung services left here. But well, I can only ask for so much. You spending your time and effort giving me something that has complete revamped my once-a-hopeless device is already a precious gift.

Again, thank you so much!

Ah I see
The launcher used (aosp launcher) has a search bar for apps, in the apps page, it should be enabled as standard.
Long press on homescreen, then the 3 dots, to access launcher settings.
Also you set the desktop wallpaper through launcher, lockscreen wallpaper can still be set through gallery.
I think contacts has search built in, ( not at all sure since I have all of 5 contacts , never needed search lol lol)
V19 is coming tomorrow sometime , it fixes keyboard spell check, and includes secure encrypted SMS, maybe firewall if it makes it by deadline.
I'm really glad your enjoying Fenris, I am actually in the same boat, I'm loving it, after a year of unstable cm/aosp ( the L versions had all sort of bugs) its a breath of fresh air ( damn should I be bigging up my own stuff ?? Lol )
This one is the most stable and fluid ROM i have ever used in this device with minimal to no issue at all.
thanks for your work man.
so far i had no issues with this ROM.
Thanks man
It would be great if you could provide a flashable MicroG uninstaller or at least a list of files to be deleted should anyone prefer to use Gapps instead of MicroG. Thanks, @vecna
I have to say running full gapps is privacy suicide, and it firmly breaks many of the guiding principals of Fenris design. Since microg works so surprising well ( given that they had to reverse engineer most of gapps, its an astounding achievement ) it seems a no brainier to keep it as it is.
Also coming releases feature additions like abbility to route all Google server requests through tor, and advanced firewall with rules for extream stealth mode, all of which will not work if running gapps.
Your request though is ( unfortunately. ) covered by the first law of fenris.
"The Fenris user is God to their own device, the os is there to make that happen"
If God wishes to destroy his privacy slow his tablet and reduce battery life then so be it, that's the law lol.
I will put the list of files and dirs to delete on initial post, its easiest simply to delete them from the zip on any PC before flashing, ( remember Fenris is fully open to modification as its packaged old school, this is very deliberate, I could easily have worked with and delivered a sparse image but that's really just a way of discouraging users to mess with their systems) or with twrp file manager prior to gapps zip.
Will do it after I publish v19, which is uploading now.
Thanks, @vecna. I would love to have Fenris as it is, if some GPS-dependent apps that I used can work. Thus, I will settle with freezing playstore and other unneeded gapps.
I am interested in this! What do i need to do other than flash a kernel for the T700? It there a line of text that needs to be removed?
TIA

I installed this ROM and currently only have one complaint. Vibration is off for Gboard, the virtual navigation buttons, the fingerprint scanner, and pattern unlock. This is regardless of what I set under Settings > Sound & Vibration.
Vibration is working fine for notifications and calls. It's just the haptics that aren't working for me.
incidentally, is there a Gcam version recommended for this ROM?
i've been using this rom for like 3 days and i love it !
it has all the features i'd expect from ppui.
one feature i kinda missed is disabling annoying notifications (meaning making all notifications silent while screen is on)
also can i use a custom kernel on top of this ?
Hello, does it work with android auto (phone call with car speaker, navigation and so on)?
Edited
The ROM works great! It's currently the best one for our phone.
[BUG]
Your rom does not work with AndroidAuto, i cannot answer/make call because when the call starts i cannot listen from the car, i can listen from the phone speaker, the menù on the car display says bluetooth but the phone use its own speaker.
The bluetooth remain connected in the phonr when i turn off the car, after several time the phone "think" that is connected to the car, and i cannot do calls, until i turn manually off the bluetooth.
Is there something to do/try?
Thanks
Rom is great. Only thing that is annoying 8s that usual random a12 bug where I can't here the other person on apps like Viber or whatsapp

Yes, but if there is a bug after installing a custom kernel, don't look for me to report bugs

To help you a little bit with app behaviour.
On Viber video call they can hear me but i can't. On normal Viber call all working ok. If I connect my earbuds all working ok even on video call. If I swap output from bt to speaker during call with Bluetooth, then speaker working great. On some previous builds I manage to just press speaker off and on and working.
To my knowledge vider and all other VoIP apps can't detect speaker at all unless you have one more source(bt, cable earpiece etc).
Also in volte calls I can't hear anything from earpiece at all. I have to disable volte if I want to have normal calls but this is a wide spread bug but is from system if has something to do. In general VoIP calls are misbehaving .
Hope that helps
Hi bro,
Really i love this rom a lot but i have something annoying me that the mic sensitivity is to high that make the sound on my ear too loud can i decrease it ?
guys if you facing internet calls problems try to disable this flag under developer options to see if it's fixed. I think this flag is causing the issue where you can't hear the other person and its for choosing audio output .
Give some feedback to see if it's ok for you as for me seems fixed now
There is a bug on locksreen clock, it freezes during the sleep.
Is this ROM still under development? For me it's the best one for our phone, only locksreen clock is the problem. If that can be fixed it would be perfect.
Hi,
This ROM is really awesome, really good Today is the 8th day I'm using this ROM, so far it's running smoothly, there are only a few problems with the camera and banking applications, but the camera can be tricked by using Parrot's GCam, but I haven't found the Bank application yet. Can you tell me how to use the Bank App, the bank app always closes automatically.
Thanks a lot
