Is rooting best option or is there another better option to lock down a Fire Tablet with Google Play installed - Fire HD 8 and HD 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone! I'm sure this has been discussed in part in other threads, but I want to see what the best way to do this is (if it's possible), and how to do it.
I have a stock Amazon HD 8 (10th generation) tablet running 7.3.26 (November 1th 2022). I can get the Amazon Fire Toolbox to run fine on it, and it enables me to download and run an app from the Google App store that isn't available on the Fire store. My issue is I'm going to be giving hand this tablet (and a couple others like it) off to other people where I want them to be able to only open this app, and not access anything else on the tablet. Is there a way to set up a "child" profile or something like that on this tablet so only the one app could be accessed? Does it involve rooting? If someone can point me in the right direction (and hopefully link instructions) as well, I would greatly appreciate it.

Fire HD8 Gen 5 "kiosk mode"

I have a need to use a Kindle HD8 Gen 5 tablet in a "kiosk" type mode. The goal is that when it turns on it will auto-loop one uninterruptible video (for the rest of its natural life). I'm assuming there is no way to do that without rooting it. That said - once rooted, I planned to load Avia media player and Tasker (both from Google Play Store) to achieve my goal.
I have not been able to find a reliable/verified method of rooting the HD8 and getting a straight Andriod OS on it that can access Google Play Store. Any ideas and/or direction to make the HD8 auto-loop a video on startup is much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Hi! I need to do the same thing. Did you get it to work? Please let me know! Thanks!

Amazon Appstore FireOS only apps - any work arounds?

My son has a Fire HD 8 tablet that thanks to you all, I have installed LineageOS 7.1.2 on. It runs great now, but we'd like to install an application that is only available in the Amazon App store and designed to run only on stock FireOS. I think the app would run perfectly fine on the tablet with Lineage installed, but unfortunately the Amazon App store no longer recognizes the tablet as a Fire tablet and therefore blocks our ability to download the app.
Is there some sort of workaround that could be tried here? I've read about people modifying build.prop to spoof the device type and run "unsupported" apps, so perhaps that is the route we'd take here? I'm just sort of stumped here and really don't want to go buy another fire tablet just so we can run stock fire os for his game.
The apps in question are the Osmo kids learning series. Any help would be very much appreciated.
*edit - i have searched for .apks of the app online that would allow me to manually install, but i have been unable to turn any up.

Get Amazon Appstore for Android on Amazon:

install google play store on 2019 fire hd 10

apologies if this is in the wrong section, I wasn't sure where to post this.
-------
I just ordered an amazon fire hd 10(2019 version) and there's a couple apps I want on it that are not normally available, such as youtube, and microsoft edge(hate google chrome, have even less love for firefox), with edge wanted for the simple reason of it having a built in adblocker.
I've been running into differing and sometimes even outright contradictory sets of installation instructions, and wish to have the RIGHT set of instructions in front of me before I actually have the device and start monkeying about with it.
I've no desire to brick it by being a moronic dodo...hence me seeking out the experts here.

Please help root tablet kindle fire HDX 8.9 3 gen OS 4.5.5.3.

Please help root tablet kindle fire HDX 8.9 3 gen OS 4.5.5.3. Please, can you tell me how to root that tablet
Hi, spotted your question, I am in the same boat as you and a Newbie. I purchased 8 of these Tablets on eBay and am now trying to get them rooted. I suggest you read the Kindle Fire for Beginners https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-kindle-fire-for-beginners.1552547/ I found it very usefull and am still going through the documentation in the links. It was all written 10 years ago, so I won't be looking for a quick fix. Unless you find one first

Thanks for answering.
If you manage to root and want to share it, I would appreciate it.
I barely know English and computer science.
Hi Luis
I have tried many ways, but none of them work. Its too old for anyone with the right skills to spend time on it. If you want to run non- Appstore applications then I found some of them work fine. The real question is why do you want to root it in the first place?

Thanks for responding. I wanted it root because most applications already tell me that they do not work with that old version. I'll have to end up throwing away that tablet. A pity. With which applications do you use it?. Thank you.
Hi Luis, I have side-loaded Fotoo that I use on my Android Phone, It creates a slideshow from your photo's. You can link it to One Drive so getting the photos onto your Kindle Fire's poor storage is not a problem. It also have a start and stop feature, so I just leave it plugged in and running 24/7
If it complains about Google Play then you will need to install some Google related files - see below.
I have attached the 4 files you need to get started, because the Fire is not rooted these files do not get you connected to the Play Store, but its seems its enough to get some apps working - maybe even the ones you have tried.
You need to install them in order, A,B.C then D, don't run them - they just need to be installed.
Good Luck.....

Just bought HD10 11th (2021) 7.3.2.1. How to block updates and what to do?

Hello
Bought HD 2021, no ads version
In short:
1. Need to block the updates. How do I go about it? I have a router, so blocking the traffic to Amazon maybe?
2. I'd love to completely disconnect the tablet from Amazon. I wish to gain maximum intrussion on my privacy, so I'd love to get rid of Alexa etc. But if there's something which improves the chances of increasing compability with older apps installed from a pre-downloaded files, not from Google Play etc. I'd like that too. Basically "what would you do in the first place". Aside from the looks. I don't really care how my icons arrangement looks like or if I can get somewhere in 2 clicks instead of 3. Not sure if the launcher swap is for me then.
After spending some time googling, I found that there's no way to install LineageOS on this one. And people talk about bad 7.3.2.2 update. (I have 7.3.2.1)
So, please help a noob with some simple step-by-step advise on what should I do (no need to tell me the actual steps of each procedure, I can google, but keep in mind I'm a total noob to Android and PC-Android apps, so please don't use shortcuts which prelong my future googling by 1000x, thanks )
I just powered it on, checked the firmware version, and didn't connect the internet to it yet.
OK, so I needlessly worried after finding a 5 method list of removing the auto updates and comments about none working, and thought Toolbox is mainly for changing launchers.
To answer most of my questions:
- Toobox allows to disable the updates, has ALL the options nicely explained and you can just read through all the menu items to learn what to do and what's what. It allows to remove the spying Amazon crap (Alexa), allows to sideload apps without using any stores (not even google account required, I guess ), restores Google Play access and gives direct access to the filesysem for easy file transfer. Among other.
Awesome thing. I didn't finish using the Toolbox yet, but seems like I'll be able to use the tablet now.
I have a new question though. If my OS version is from 2021, and I don't want the new updates, what about security vulnerabilities? Am I now an easy target?
edit: Still have Alexa
Amazon Alexa is one service
and
Alexa - is the name of second service
Also, how do I disable the Google Assistant after replacing Alexa with it?
Lastly. I have only 1.3GB of 3GB RAM free? Or is this under developer settings in Android settings menu, not properly displayed?
