SM-T530 can't enter in Download mode (Recovery mode OK) - Galaxy Tab 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Deal All,
My first goal (before rooting, try custom rom etc.) is to update with official rom from Android 4.4.2 to 5.0.2.
Samsung Kies ask me to use SmartSwitch which said "your device can't be upgraded" or something like that.
As said in title, I cannot enter in download mode. Pressing Vol+ Home and Power display the usual warning message, Vol+ to continue / Vol- to cancel.
Pressing the Vol+ just reboot the tab.
Entering Recovery Mode work fine with Vol- Home and Power.
I found some info about an eventual "OEM lock" to turn off. I followed instruction but no way, no "OEM lock" appear in Dev menu...
The tab as been wiped thanks to the recovery mode.
Any idea?
Thanks!
Edit: Resolved, it was a faulty volume button

i had th same thing but on lte version i just went to settings, delevoper options, end unlock bootloader or smthing like that it magically started working

Thanks for your reply. Basically those are instructions I followed without success:
1 - Turn off the phone.
2 - Turn on the phone by holding down the volume up button.
3 - The phone will enter official recovery mode.
4 - Wipe cache partition.
5 - Wipe data/factory reset.
6 - Reboot system.
7 - Log in to your Google account and your Samsung account.
8 - Go to settings and enable developer mode.
9 - Enter developer mode, enable "OEM unlocking" option.
10 - Now you will be able to enter the DOWNLOAD mode
I can't find any settings in dev mode meaning "OEM unlocking" or "unlock bootloader"...
I tried also to communicate with Odin, but the tab is only detected in regular mode, not in recovery mode.
I know it's kind of old device, but I can't be the only one, a solution should exist...

Ok, so it's resolved, and was even more stupid than you may think: my physical volume button was faulty and didn't catch each time when I pressed Vol+ or Vol-. Using a small tool did the trick.

how to factory reset a pattern locked phone

Hi. yesterday i bought a redmi 3s... i have put a pattern which i forgot and also a fingerprint unlock... the fingerprint unlock was working, until i tried other fingers to see if it could be fooled... obviously after too many tries, the fingerprint unlock won't unlock the phone without the unlock pattern... is there a way to hard reset such a phone ore delete user settings... i tried volume up + power button to acess the recovery menu, but when i acess it i get a weird menu saying:
your device has loaded a different operating system
for more info visit g.co/placeholder
if no key is pressed:
your device will boot in 5 seconds
if i press volume up or down, i get this menu:
power off
restart
recovery
fastboot
back to previous page
recovery and back to previous page return to the same screen mentioned above....
please help! :crying:
also, when i connect my phone in any mode to my computer via usb cable (download mode, fastboot mode, normal mode) i hear the usb connect sound but no folders open. I'd like to get to pictures made in the last 24 hours (thats the only thing you can acess without the pattern unlock on the side swipe menu).
You can still use the usb when boot using fastboot, just move to another port of usb in your PC/Laptop etc, for unlocking pattern :
Try this

Now you dont even need to wipe your data again

Galaxy Tab E (SM-T560NU and maybe others) Tips and Tricks

This is just a collection of tricks I have learned since owning my SM-T560NU:
Force Shutdown
While not recommended, there may be times in which you need to forcefully shutdown your tablet, such as a bad OS crash, or a bootloop. Most devices allow you to do this by just holding the power button. However I have found with my SM-T560NU, you must hold Power + Volume Down for about 5-7 seconds to trigger the force shutdown. Actually, this reboots it, which leads me into the next tip.
Recovery Mode
It is a common misconception that you need to hold Power while entering recovery mode or download mode. This is not the case. The actual keys for recovery are just Volume Up+Home. To try it yourself, tell your tablet to reboot normally from the OS, then hold these keys. You'll see it boots recovery, without needing to press power at all! The trick is to be holding the buttons when the bootloader boots. The power key is not needed at all unless the device is completely off.
Download Mode
Same as above, but Volume Down+Home.
Unlock Bootloader
If you are here on XDA, you are likely interested in customizing your tablet with a custom ROM, Kernel, or recovery. But it is important to remember to unlock the bootloader before attempting any customization. You can do this by enabling developer mode in Android (go to Settings, About, and tap the Build Number 8 times). Once enabled, go to the developer options (near About on the main settings) and near the top there will be an option to unlock the bootloader. This only needs to be done once. If you install a custom ROM or factory reset (via custom recovery), the "Unlock Bootloader" option may revert to "off", you do not need to enable it again. If you factory reset while still on the stock ROM, you may have to re-enable it, as Samsung's recovery may re-enable the bootloader lock. This is untested.

Cannot access fastboot or recovery

LG G6 H871 unrooted
I just can't get into fastboot or recovery mode. I've tried everything on the internet.
I've tried turning off the phone. Holding down the volume down button and then plugging in the USB cable.
I've tried adb command "adb reboot bootloader" which just reboots the phone until I can see the "enter your PIN" screen
The closest I got to the recovery mode was using "adb reboot recovery" which gave me the "no command" screen.
Any tips on this?
Have you enabled OEM Unlock option under Developer settings?
Yes. "Enable OEM unlock" and "USB debugging" enabled.
both oem unlock is on and usb debugging on and my computer has accepted the fingerprint from teh device to shake with adb. . still cant get into fastboot mode.what to do.
Is your phone rooted? If so use flashify to reflash recovery. You do know that if you want to boot in recover you have to let the power key go and repress it once your screen goes on right?
You can also try phone off. Holding volume up while you insert usb cable. Might be a tool that allows a command to be send to reboot it in fastboot mode? If not downgrade its firmware..

If I understand correctly, when you got to the No Command" screen, you were actually in Recovery. From my experience, the No Command screen is like a "greeting", if you will. Once you see that screen, you need to fiddle with the power & volume buttons. I believe the correct combination is to press and hold the power button. Then press and release the volume up button but continue to hold power button. If that is not the correct sequence you will need to Google for the correct order. Reference.
Considering that you are not rooted, there is not much you can do in the stock recovery.
EDIT 2 - Realized that this thread is over a year old and the OP has probably moved on. Didn't realize another member revived it. Sorry.

[Q] [help] Unable to open Download mode with unlock bootloader option

Imma need a bit of assistance here. I have been trying to get into Download (DL) mode while pressing vol up + down and plugging in the cable. But it just starts charging.
I can get into DL mode through recovery but that goesn't give me an option to unlock bootloader. Of course, OEM unlock and USB debugging are turned on. I even flashed the latest firmware A205FXXSBCVI2.
I was trying to odin flash custom recovery image which doesn't complete and on DL screen it says, Custom image (boot) blocked by OEM lock. I have unlocked a lot of phones before but I guess I never had to unlock a Samsung bootloader!
Thanks in advance.
This should work:
The following steps WILL WIPE YOUR DEVICE
1. Enable Developer Options by pressing the “Build Number” option in the “Settings” app within the “About” menu
From within the Developer options menu, enable OEM unlock.
3. Power off the device, and boot it into download mode:
With the device powered off, hold Volume Up + Volume Down and connect USB cable to PC.
Now, hold down the “Volume Up” button until you see the “Unlock bootloader” screen.
Then press the “Volume Up” button once to unlock the bootloader.
7. Your device will reboot twice and erase your data, you may now unplug the USB cable from your device.
8. Run through Android Setup skipping everything you can.
9. Re-enable Development settings by clicking the “Build Number” option 7 times, in the “Settings” app within the
“About” menu, and verify that “OEM Unlock” is enabled and greyed out in the “Developer options” menu.
If you have any problems, let me know.

I'm having the same issue did you got it to work
Nope. I don't have access to that phone for the time being. But I came accross a point that we need to plug in the audio cable on new Samsung phones to get that unlock option.
Haven't tried yet though.

Can't unlock bootloader

Hi,
I have trouble unlocking my A40. It's 2nd piece I own and the problem is the same.
When I follow the steps from this forum;
Go to Developer Settings and enable "OEM Unlock" option
Power off the device and boot in download mode
In download mode, you will see the long press and volume up option to unlock the bootloader
Unlock the bootloader. That will wipe your device so be sure you made a backup of your data
After bootloader unlock, boot up the phone and make sure it is connected to the internet or it will trigger rmm prenormal
Setup the phone without google account and others
Reboot in download mode and flash the recovery and vbmeta images
Boot to TWRP
Format data in TWRP
Flash the Multidisabler zip
Now you can reboot

I'm stuck at the 3rd point.
I don't see ANY instruction about Volume UP + Power in download mode. Nor FASTBOOT see my device to run actions with it.
What I see is only "Volume down key + power key for more than 7 secs Cancel (restart phone).
And holding Vol UP + Power doesn't do anything.
How to make this work?
Thanks.

You did enable OEM Unlock, correct?
Turn the device completely off, without any cables connected. Keep a USB cable ready that's plugged into your PC.
With the device powered off, hold both Volume buttons, and plug in the USB cable connected to your PC. Do not press Power. You should see a prompt on either a green or blue screen; select the option for Device Unlock Mode.
Finally.
Thank you for making me try for another time
