Colours are gone...only black and white - Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite Questions & Answers

Hi,
While configuring my new galaxy tab s6 lite, all the screens, icons, photos etc..changed from being in colour to black and white. I spent the last 2 hours reading and trying to restore the colours but i can’t. Can you help me? Thanks

You can try to see if color correction mode is turned on and set to grayscale...
Go to Settings > Accessibility > Visibility Enhancements > Color Correction.
If it's turned on and set to grayscale, it turns everything black/white

Did you try a factory reset? As long as you're logged into a google account, you should be good to go.

Thanks. I'll try that...but why do I need to be logged on to Google? Will I loose all my data if I do a factory reset? Thank you

Hi when you factory reset, it will wipe all settings to default as if you bought it brand new from the store (this is the intended result anyways). So it's likely to reset what was causing the black and white issue so long as it's software related. All of your apps will be uninstalled also. If it's a hardware failure this may require a repair shop.
As for being logged in, it allows you to sync your google data and back it up into "the cloud". For contacts, gmail, google photos etc. I suggested logging in before hand so that it could do that.
All you would have to do is log back in after a factory reset to access the same stuff as if it were never gone.

[Q] How To Disable Auto Factory Reset?

Just installed Moar Rom. Auto factory reset is automatically turned on in the lock screen options page and I am not able to disable it. I've searched the forums and did a lot of searching online but I have not been able to find any solution for this. By any chance does anyone have any advice on how to turn of this feature? Thank you!

I don't believe there is anything in there related to what I am trying to solve. If you go to Settings > Lock Screen, at the bottom there is a section titled Auto Factory Reset. I would like to turn this off.

Sorry, Yes I misunderstood. Have you checked security settings for Google and Samsung. I would say one of them is the reason it's greyed out.
I found that this setting was being controlled by my Exchange server at work. I had read online that this was something that Verizon had implemented, however it appears that is not the case here.

Notification Problem

Hello Everybody
My P8 Lite Don't give me notification unless i open apps like whatsapp and viber and i marked show notification for them
any help please
You said, you've got the notification enabled for those apps, so there's only one thing that can cause problem, like this.
Go to your Settings > Power saving, then scroll down, and check the Protected apps menu.
Checked means it can run even if the screen is off.
Report back if it's worked for you, please.

Thx Man It Works For Me
I have whatsapp checked and I dont recieve the notifications, it is sudden.. I have to reset the phone.
It works fine and suddenly stops.
thks
same as @manuz89, if i reboot the phone it works but a few minutes later its bad again
i already have "normal" preset in battery settings, whatsapp its protected and all notification toggles are ON
im clearing cache right now and if it dont work i'll factory reset the phone
All other apps works properly, I think is a compatibility problem between Whatsapp and P8lite. Don't think factory reset will work
Before this phone, I had a S3 Mini, and that phone also had notification issues with WhatsApp...Maybe it's the app, not the phone
kitkat was fine, its the lollipop version with the problem.
But does this happen to everyone? Do you think someone will have an answer soon or we should just go back to kitkat.?
Thks
try changing your power mode to Normal, in case Smart is turning off a connection somewhere
Notification problem
I have the same problem - no notifications for whatsapp. All settings are correct. I.e. Notifications is allowed, power saving is normal, Whatsapp is protected. What else can I try? If I reset to factory will it delete all my photos etc?

No need factory reset. Anyway notifications of Viber(may be Whatsapp) do not work on this phone. You can easy resolve this bug with Light Flow - LED&Notifications. I use this method and work great!
unfortunately that app is not free. is there any other solutions. i did all those mentioned above including locking the app in the recent app tray. still, the problem persists. previously i used a xiaomi phone, it still had notifications although delayed for minutes
hi
just go to setting/screen lock& passwords/ screen lock style / and change it to default(magazine).
then you will see ( notification panel &notification turn on screen......) it will save the problem.
note : after you can change your lock screen picture and choose from your gallery.
Solved
Hello.
I had the same problem with whatsapp. After many research, i think i have found the solution:
Enable background data for Google Play Services app and allow notifications as well for this app.
(PS This solutions is mentioned also in the FAQ from whatsapp )))))) .. that simple
It worked for me.. try

yureka is frequently getting locked after new official update of cm12.1

My yureka is frequently getting locked after updating cm 12.1 .i cant do anything cz screen goes blank and then it get locked and wallpaper get changed to its default wallpaper and theme says it is customised. I traid safe mode but its not working. Any suggestion or tips ..?? Pls help....
[Solved]:
Usually it happens to everyone who upgraded to cyanogen 12.1 recently, even I had this problem and got the solution too.. Upgrading OS needs to take effect on GUI of the previous verson, so you have to reset your phone!
Do as follows:
> Take the data backup from your device,
>Go to settings, and reset the phone to the factory defaults!
>Done!

If this problem is solved by just factory resetting than why YU is ready to exchange the device for just this issue. I am also having the same problem and when I connected customer care the said that we will replace your device
Hey I have got a solution for this . Go to your device settings and then Privacy. Then go to privacy guard. There are three dots on upper right corner. CLICK ON THAT AND SELECT SHOW BUILT IN APPS. Now search for Google play services and hold on Google play services. Scroll downside and search for auto start and keep awake. Turn them off. But keep sure that (keep awake ) is enabled.
If it help you please thanks me.
I tried factory resetting but after few days it went back as it was . It doesn't help. Tjen on YouTube i found a solution its working .....
First i turn off double tap option that includs double tap to wake up and double tap to sleep then i removed all Google accounts and cyanogen account . And after that i cleared all the data of play store and play service .and then after rebooting i signed all my account back and my phone is working well till now....
And thanx for ur support guys....

navigation bar colors Huawei p10 lite

Hi.
My Huawei p10 lite doesn't allow to modify the color of the navigation and notification bars when opening any app. Apparently the color is locked (it's a dark orange) and app like navbar are not able to modify in any way the fixed color.
Only when opening "Settings" the bars are white and in home screen, where navigation bar is transparent.
The phone came with a telephone company brand (which logo, by the way, has same basic color of the navigation bar) but other customers I contacted throug socials that got the phone with same conditions from the same brand, seem don't have the issue.
Is there any idea how to unlock the navigation bar color without being root or go through other invasive expedients?
Thanks a lot,
Luca.
This happened to me when I asked Google assistant to turn on power saving mode. I got super annoyed by the orange colour. So I tried telling it to turn it off but it wouldnt, so I scrolled up on my Google assistant history and flipped the switch where it said power saving mode. As soon as I did that the orange was gone.

Thank you, I'm still get along with the orange bars!
Please, may be so kind to illustrate the procedure in detail? I cannot figure out how to enter the google assistant history. By the way, to my knowledge I didn't turned on the power saving mode, unless I did it accidentally.
Thank you for helping me,
Luc.

It only happens when asking Google assistant to turn on power saving mode. Try saying "Ok Google turn on power saving mode" and it might bring up a switch. If it doesnt, then to access what you've said before just say Ok Google or hold your home button then scroll up and keep on scrolling to find a switch. If there is no switch then I have no idea what the orange means.

Note that the orange stripes on the nav and notification bars appear on any app of my phone, except for Settings and home page.
Thanks,
Luc.
Ok, have you tried changing the theme?
If not, then let's start:
1st: Find your themes app.
2nd: Go to the "Me" tab.
3rd: Choose any theme (those on the bottom are downloaded)
4th: Tap on the theme you want and tap apply.
If you have changed the theme then maybe download a theme which changes the navbar? (If I find one I'll try to send it.)
Ok here's one: https://drive.google.com/file/d/15UOMMsz22_4NHnv0Ue2K5h_qxFH3zhvl/view?usp=drivesdk

It doesn't work, the orange is still there, at least applying your file. I've changed few more themes but nothing changed to the colors of the bars... :crying::crying:

I'm sure this is probably the Google power saving mode that is enabled. It shouldn't always be enabled, because it usually turns off once your battery is fully charged. Try installing Activity Launcher here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.szalkowski.activitylauncher
Open the app, on the top of the screen, tap on "Recent activities" and choose "All activities".
Scroll down until you find Settings > Battery Saver > Turn on automatically, and choose "Never".
Hopefully this will turn it off. If that fails, I'd suggest making a backup of your data, and doing a factory reset.

EDIT: It would actually be easier just asking Google Assistant to "Turn power saving mode off", and it should be deactivated. Whether you remembered doing it or not, you might as well do it anyway, before you go through all the steps I gave you. [emoji849] Doing what @ianorna said is the easiest method. It's the only way to remove it, and it might just save you from doing a factory reset.

I may be late in replying the post but if youre still having the problem theres an easy fix.
the bars are orange because your battery saving mode is on, and no not the huawei battery saving mode, but the native android battery saver, its buried in the settings,
got to
settings>Battery>Battery Uasge graph>Tap to open detailed graph
tap on the three dots button on top right corner> tap battery save>disable!
That should fix this :good:  :silly:

Bottom icons bounce in Android 9?

Just bought the PH-1 and got it updated to 9. Anybody else's bottom row of icons bounce up and down on the home screen?
Got this from Essential support even though my wife's Pixel on Android 9 doesn't do it -
Thanks for reaching out. This happens when you first set up your device, or when you install new apps on your phone. It's Androids (kind of silly) way of showing you that you can swipe up from the bottom of the screen to access the apps that were just installed / updated.
Unfortunately, there's no way to disable this. Hope that answers your question.
Sincerely,
Essential

Did you ever resolve the bouncing icons thing? I've got a new Pixel 3 XL and I've got the same thing happening:
EDIT > poo, I don't have enough posts to submit a link. So, I'll try adding spaces to obfuscate it: https:// youtu.be/ rQ8JBw5-95U
This is day 3 with the phone and the darn things are still bouncing.
I chatted with the support people. Their attempts to fix this were:
- Clear cache and storage in Pixel Launcher under Settings > Apps & Notifications > Pixel Launcher > Storage. Reboot.
- When that didn't help, do the same for Google. Reboot.
- When that didn't help, check Safe Mode.
- When that didn't help, they wanted me to reset the phone to factory defaults.
I'm avoiding the reset since the thought of setting everything up again fills me with dread (especially re-registering all my sites in Google Authenticator).

I did a factory reset and it didn't fix things. Since I'm also having issues keeping a Wi-Fi connection, I decided to have Google do a warranty exchange. We'll see what happens with the new phone when it gets here.

u can disable it under deveolper option and turn ur animations off
Toggling "Accessibility" > "Remove Animations" seems to have done it for me.
Turning this option on removed all animations (which I didn't want) but then after turning it off again, the animations returned WITHOUT the bounce. Profit!
