Help with rooting and installing a custom ROM for Huawei Y5 2018 DRA-LX3 - Huawei Y5 (2017) Questions & Answers

I'm rusty in my rooting flashing abilities. Did it more than 5 years ago, so you could consider this as helping a newbie. First of all, is my phone the same for all intents and purposes as a 2017 Y5?
Thanks in advance.

[Q] Huawei U8800 Pro 2.2 to other

Hello, I have a Huawei U8800 Pro phone with 2.2.2 android version (is very old and can't do anything nice with my phone, because new apps requires newest version of android like 4+).
So, I want to upgrade my version to 4.0.3 or other 4+ without mistakes. I read a lot of threads already here, but I scared to do a mistake, so I always prefer better ask people with experience what to do.
Okay, my question is: can I jump from 2.2.2 to 4+ android version or I need to upgrade first to 2.3 and etc? My phone is rooted already, so I have all super permissions.
I don't have a lot of experience in this, so I waiting for anwers with links to thread what I need to do first step-by-step.
Thank you all, who can help me! :good:
Regards, Danžžžž
So anyone can help me please?

New Android user.

Hello all, thnx for reading this. Im IceQube and im a life long Iphone user since the very first one. But if left that part if me behind and choose for the Huawei p10 plus. Its an amazing phone. But i do have some questions because im a total android noob.
I read allot about rooting and different kernels. And the way i read it, it sounded pretty much the same as "jailbreaking" an IOS device. Can someone help me get into this rooting and get more out of my amazing huawei smartphone.
Thank you very much, IceQube.

At this moment in time there isn't any official ways to root the p10 plus.
Basically most, if not every phones are rooted in this order
Unlock the bootloader which allows you to install custom recoveries. ( Voids the warranty in most places )
After unlocking you can then flash a recovery, ( needed in order to flash ROMs, .Zips )
After flashing the custom recovery, you can easily flash root and ROMs. It sounds complicated but it's about a 10 minutes job but since your new i advise you wait for official methods because if you brick your phone, there's no way of recovering. Erecovery on the device never worked for me. I had to pay for it to be fixed. Check out www.funkyhuawei.club if it ever happens.
I can help you unlock your phone and install the recovery and current unofficial root method however you won't be able to mount /system which is pretty much pointless.

@XtraArrow did a good explanation above. In short....don't bother rooting just yet. Just use the phone as it is for now until such time you see the development thread grow with custom ROM's

Hello,
I recently updated to B360 Nougat and rooted with revolution recovery and elite kernel. But I do not like the battery life on it. I wish to roll back to latest MM without losing root or at least without losing DATA and APPS. is that possible? I want to use xposed but I didn't realise it does not work on Android 7.0 yet.
Any help would be appreciated as I searched in the forums and by far this is the messiest forum I've ever seen lol duplicate posts some with answers some without! Guides without mentioning its for MM or N. I don't mean to criticise but back when I used Sony their forums are much more detail specific.
Anyway sorry if I offended anyone I did not mean so I just wanted to state out that I'm confused. and thank for whoever helps
Fixed it following several debranding methods.

Lenovo K5 NOTE:More than 500K units Already sold, 1 year since launch still no ROOT

Hello XDA people, this lenovo Vibe K5 NOTE is a budget friendly phone so obliviously we don't have many experienced developers in our community, also we have tried out best to root this device but we failed.
As this mobile will not be updated to Android 7.0 by lenovo (currently on 6.0) so it becomes something like essential to root it for custom ROMs and for some other features.
So I request anybody here on forum who have capability to root it and may not own this device to help us in rooting this device.
Our current progress on rooting can be seen on last page of this thread

So please if anybody capable to root it please show.

Im Looking For A Custom TWRP/Recovery For Android 11 (One Ui 3.1) For The Galaxy A20s (SM-A207F) and root file ether
Can someone help me please?
hi im reza from iran , i want twrp for sm-a207f/ds , please help me!
I can provide you with some general guidance on finding a custom recovery and rooting your device.
Custom Recovery: Finding a custom recovery specifically tailored for your device model and software version can be a bit challenging. It's recommended to visit dedicated Android development forums or websites like XDA Developers (
XDA Forums
Android Forum for Mobile Phones, Tablets, Hardware & App Development
forum.xda-developers.com
) to search for custom recoveries specifically designed for the Galaxy A20s (SM-A207F) running Android 11 with One UI 3.1. These forums usually have a community of developers who create and share such customizations.
Rooting: Once you have a custom recovery installed, you can proceed with rooting your device. Rooting methods can vary depending on the device model and software version, so it's important to find a reliable rooting guide specifically for your device.
Again, XDA Developers is a great resource for finding rooting guides. Look for a guide that is specific to the Galaxy A20s (SM-A207F) running Android 11 with One UI 3.1. Follow the instructions provided in the guide carefully, as rooting can be a complex process, and any mistakes could potentially harm your device.
Remember that rooting your device may void your warranty and could potentially lead to security risks or software instabilities. It's essential to understand the risks involved and proceed with caution.
If you're unsure or uncomfortable with the process, I recommend reaching out to experienced Android users or seeking assistance from a professional in order to avoid any potential issues.
