Question Widewine DRM help - Nothing Phone 1

Hey guys
Having a weird issue that think is caused by missing DRM data on my Nothing Phone
Basically L1 seems to pass according to DRM info but in log complains about missing /data/vendor/mediadrm/IDM1013/L1/cert.bin
Can someone check if file exists and maybe attach it here if does

File is missing for me too.
Short research tells me it should be in the firmware files or will be generated the first time you try to use something L1 related.
What di you do so far?

well had an app that used to work just fine
after an update to latest NOS or so, seems to not work anymore
did a logcat seeing that is checking DRM data and switching fine from L3 to L1 just that fails with unknown error
somewhere above in log I see it's complaining of said missing file
did some digging in stock firmware files (extracted myself) yet can't find the file so guessing is generated at first boot or so
just want to "prevent" a factory reset first, so thought to ask how other phones behave with said file if available or not
weird thing it that I see L1 under DRM info, so guess should work

If you just want to watch a video, this is a good way to get around it.
But Widevine will be L3.

[4.4.4] Sony RIC KILLER

I have modified zxz0O0's script for rooting to just kill the SONY RIC, not upload towelroot and stuff.
This is so you can mount /system, modify platform.xml to have full access to microSD, install xposed, etc.
It works OK (as far as I can tell, I am not an expert).
CHANGELOG:
Version 2:
Removed even more unnecessary files
Here is the file [UPDATED]:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4aBOrwRL1VMeVUwcFNtNEZnRHc/view?usp=sharing
Many thanks to zxz0O0 for guidance.
Mirror if you want.
Enjoy.
Pc o recovery?
PC. Windows only.
Anyone who can confirm it working? And with no extra features.. Malware etc?
Sorry for my ignorance....but can anyone explain what RIC is and why do we want to kill it ???

Here it goes.
As far as I know, Sony RIC is a kernel module that manages security, but somebody may correct me on that.
The "/system" partition i.e. folder on a Sony Xperia phone cannot be written to, if you don't disable it.
Without writing to the /system, you cannot:
Modify the .xml that enables apps to write to the microSD card, which is disabled by default in kitkat (look at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.sdfix).
Install the xposed framework
Modify files in the /system partition for any other purposes.
The usage is as follows:
Get a ftf file for your Z2
Modify it using PRFCreator by using this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/general/4-4-4-creating-rooted-update-package-t2933155
Flash the phone using the recovery with the generated .zip file.
Make sure USB debugging is enabled on your phone, together with Allow mock locations (in Developer options), and that you have adb etc. istalled
Plug the phone, say yes to USB debugging query.
Run the script to kill RIC.
Enjoy.

You Sir are a gentleman and a scholar.
newb-asking-stuff-now^^
Hi there,
Im planing to do this "make ur own pre-rooted update" thing for my Z2 to get this annoying "there is an update available" message away, and maybe it also offers some nice features^^
the thing is this Z2 is my first smartphone in general (tried them in the first gen and hated those commercial-bombers xD so it took me a long while to give it a new try)
so Im not very much into rooting and so on.... I dont even know exactly how I managed to root my actual phone xD but yeah anyhow I did it with a tutorial from xda.....
what i want to ask is.... is this ric-killing really needed? as I said I dunno how exactly I did root for my 4.4.2 but I never had issues with using my SD-card or such..... never heard bout RIC before this thread here aswell.....
what is this for and does everyone need this?
....atleast how does it come that this seems to be needed with the 4.4.4 but wasnt needed on 4.4.2? or why did I never hear bout it?
(my root went something like this: using any batch-file, flashing triple-recovery twpr, cwm, and something I dont remember^^ after that rebooting several times and again flashing something from recovery.... but never there was something stated like RIC.... only TA-Backup had to be made tough Locked bootloader as this scares the **** out of me xD)
Will this work on any Sony device or just Z2?

Not really needed, no. But if you want your navigation software (Sygic, Here maps etc) or custom cameras (from the playstore) to save files to the microSD, it becomes necessary. Thank Google for instituting the silly policy with KitKat. I think they reverted it in Lollipop.

I am not sure. I made it for the Z2 and used it on my Z2, but the original script was supposed to work on multiple Sony devices (so it says).
So maybe you could give it a try, and report back?

Hey bro, It works perfectly fine. I tested it on Z1C and it worked perfectly. :highfive:
just for complete understatement...
So I am actually in lack of some kind of permission as I never did this with my actual ROM? Would this allow me to move apps and just everything I desire and manage to turn on rwrwrw on the external SD?
(or is this not even part of ROM? Im not even clear bout whats included in kernel or ROM, and no idea what exactly is contained in firmware then xD anyhow I know ofcourse what those are but just can never find a explanation what differs those wich I could remember^^ Isnt it in principal all of them are part of the ReadOnlyMemory?)
Tough Im able to use foldermount and link2sd?
is this here then only usefull for "regular.no.root.required.apps" wich dont take advantage of su, or how does it come, that I read bout this kitkat.sd.killing.move but still never found the phrase RIC on my huge googling.expiditions....
(luckily knew this before purchase of a 128gb card and could go for the smaller 32gb wich is more than enough for pictures music and vids xD)
Works perfectly. I was upgraded to 4.4.4 via OTA and I was able to save the root but I wasn't able to mount system r/w. Now everything works perfectly.

But in future with Lollipop update, I think Sony will let us move apps to SD, in AOSP(CM) builds they have the option to move the apps to SD.
So I discoverd now whats this for, I found out if an app wich doesnt make use of SU wants to write on SD it fails.... I didnt get it cuz I just let make apps use of SD wich anywaye do use SU ....
Only thing Im still wondering about is why can the stock foto.app (sony) write to SD1 and other apps can not? As I know sony.foto never asked for root.permissions^^
Trouble with Google
I have used your software and my phone is full rooted. Unfortunately, OK Google won't work anymore and when I speak, it did't search. What should I do now? Sorry for my bad English.
so, can you explain step by step how to use this?

[XAP] AdBlocker For Windows Phone 8.x+

Hello everyone!
Today I release a beta build of my very first hand made app called AdBlockerWP!
***YOU NEED TO BE INTEROP-UNLOCKED AND HAVE ALL CAPABILITIES UNLOCKED AS WELL!
It is very simple, download the app from the attachments and install it using Windows Phone Power Tools or the use the deployer built into the SDK.
Then run it and then select "Update Hosts File" Then wait.
Boom it has blocked ads for you! Enjoy
There is also a feature to disable ad blocking.
Please please please let me know how this works for you and what model phone you have as I can only test on emulators and a Lumia 640, but this should work on any Lumia WP8.x Phone.
EDIT:
New Feature(s) Added:
Users can now specify their own URLS to download
Removed 2 default URLS, and changed 1 URL
Current Default Hosts URL List:
https://adaway.org/hosts.txt
https://github.com/StevenBlack/hosts (Using GitHub rawcontent servers to get the HUGE hosts file here which is updated frequently from many sources.
Change Log:
V4: Fixed userList.txt not being found when editing custom user hosts url list.
V5: Added option to edit Windows Hosts file, or just view. (Alpha feature, it is very slow on larger files)
V5.2: Fixed bug on first launch of crashing
V5.3: Default lists can be disabled by user, and better custom list parsing
Source Code: Download Here
Good job, buddy!
Probably, your app needs some UI "polishing" and nice tile but at least it's functional & working
Do you have plans to publish app sources on the github? It will be nice.

When it comes out of beta I will publish source to github and yeah the UI is, how do I say..... Lacking if you will, but it is functional which is the idea behind a beta product LOL.
So far I found some bugs of my own:
2 of the 4 hosts files fail to download from a 406 error.
&
because of the first bug, not all ads are blocked. So i noticed some, not all, ads in some web sites and apps. but some are blocked.
I am also going to add a feature where a user can add his or her own entries, as well as adding their own URL's for Hosts files so those will be added/downloaded as well.
What sources does this app use?
@sandix great work, this app even works well on W10M with interop/cap unlock.
is ok but still many ads not blocked from web pages... second and third host download fail...

I could recommend to @sandix, to get a blocking uri sources from the popular Android or desktop ad-blocking software (AdAway and/or AdBlock). Maybe it's not very ethical but these blocking lists are up to date and 24/7 available.
This application is using the default sources from adaway for android, but 2 out of the 4 source get a 406 error, ill be releasing an updated version that fixes this issue so more ads will be blocked. The next version will also allow you to add your own sources as well

Is that even a good idea?
I meant won't that risk breaking your hosts file if let's say your internet connection drops during the download?
Also a bit of a unrelated question: doesn't windows phone require a reboot after changing the hosts file just like PC windows does to actually apply the rules?
And you should add the hosts file from here too: http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.htm (note: not direct link to the hosts file, scroll down a bit) that's what I'm using on my pc and laptop in windows.

That hosts al ready in the list, and if internet is dropped during download, that hosts file won't be included, worst case you have to reupdate the hosts file, but no damage would done regardless because I have a restore option in the app and afaik I have not needed a reboot, but a reboot, if you would want to, would not damage anything either
Added Update V3, includes some bug fixes and features, update now!
With v3 this happens when I open the edit user list screen on W10M.
EDIT: Same error happens when I try to save the list and when I try to update the hosts file, can't be used on W10M anymore.
work fine, you must manually add (your) userList.txt

Ok, will try, thank you, and no need to use file manager cause I can just enable Full FS Access and do it that way.
EDIT: Worked, thanks.
Also @sandix is there any reason you removed the ability to read the current hosts file and are you going to add it back in the next version, it was quite a good feature to have to make sure your hosts have been applied?

[script]Remove password/fingerprint lock

Hi all,
I made this small update script because sometime when you try a rom and use a backup to restore the previous one the authentification get broken, so this script will just remove all locks and allow you to start your phone without any data lost.
I'm not responsible if something is going wrong.
Flash using any twrp will probably work.
great. will try
thanks!

Yep probably, but for most of people here it's safer to use a script than let them find the files manualy.
And maybe faster

you deserve compliment for your work , but it takes only one file to delete to remove passwords or lock. and its neither lengthy nor unsafe, i have seen your script, it deletes to many things.. which is not required i think. And your updater script has spelling mistakes too bro..
Does it also removes the mi account? Device locked because mi account think the device is stolen.

If its patternlock, then its gatekeeper.pattern.key, if its password then its gatekeeper.password.key, you can delete both.
Successful Using RX & Deletion of /data/validity/template.db
Doesn't work for me! Ran rx from recovery, wiped caches, & rebooted. Typed in backup password, unlocked (same as b4). Went to the Settings for fingerprint this time it constantly rejects any attempt saying too many incorrect pls wait. Prior it wouldn't take fingerprint or password.
Any suggestions for this?
PS: Would be nice to list what each file does /is for. I am also an advanced user...
After running This Rx use (root) X-plore/etc F. M. Then DELETE:
[*W/Rx SUCCESS*] /data/validity/template.db [*W/Rx SUCCESS*]
Reboot. Type in Previously Used BackUp Password. Go to Fingerprint Settings & setup new fingerprint & backup password!
[*MIA*] data/system/users/0/settings_fingerprint.xml [*MIA*] Could not find this file, so I assume not needed.
This was done on Stock Base Marshmallow ROM N915 (Note Edge).
BTW Thanks for RX & Could You Please add the above file to RX?

[Help] FSC script found, do you want to add it?

Hi,
Please be kind to answer a few queries below.
Here is what I did (and fear may have done something incorrectly):
So I downloaded a firmware using latest flashtool (0.9.25.0)
Then following advice here I deleted the fwinfo.xml file
Then during Tools=>Bundles=>Create, skipped all TA files (again following advise on above link)
When flashing the generated ftf file I got a pop-up saying FSC script found, I clicked Yes -- this thread shows screenshot
The flashing went fine. It was Orea Central Europe CE1.
---
Now about to flash Pie, I opened the fsc file before doing anything and it has steps like:
Code:
Write-TA:2:2212
Write-TA:2:2316
Write-TA:2:2330
Write-TA:2:2473
Write-TA:2:2486
Write-TA:2:2553
flash:LTALabel:elabel-H8216-row-demo_201803120045218.1_51.1.A.2.183_X-FLASH-LTALABEL-B6B5.sin
set_active:a
Write-TA:2:10021
Write-TA:2:10100
This worried me.
Q 1: What happened when I flashed Oreo, and the FSC script ran these commands? Did it wipe/write zeroes to the TA DRM keys?
Q 2: If I am safe, and my TA keys are OK, how do I check? My Service Menu=>Service Tests=>Security is attached
Q 3: In Service Menu=>Configuration the part about Available Speech Codecs is missing (please see screenshot) -- I see it in my Z3c, but not in my XZ2 now (not sure if it was there before I flashed Oreo)
Q 4: When I now flash Pie, should I skip FSC when prompted as this guy says for M2?
Why you not use newflasher ?
Okay I just heard its name the second time. I'll read and try it.
But any comment to my questions? Anything odd in screenshots? Have I messed up?

Thank you, and with your experience, can you tell if my DRM keys are intact?
Is it normal that Speech Codecs part and the missing extries for SOMC Fido and SOMC Attest keys?
Or is it that you don't know?

Phone blocked on unlock phase.

Hi,
This last days I have stranges things with my phone, and it is the first time that happened.
When I reboot after install magisk modules or adaway file host, my phone cannot be unlocked.
I type the pin code for unlock my sim card, and after the pin code for unlock the phone.
At this moment I have a black screen and I must retype my code ever and ever.
Nothing to do, just reinstall all the rom. Unable to use a clean backup, this is the same problem.
If anybody knows this issue and can save my life, you're welcome.
Thanks a lot, cordialement
I found the issue.
I can install magisk and reboot normally.
But when I install modules everything is locked.
If anyone have infos?

Hello, I am updating my mom's phone and saw your post.
Unfortunately that bug has been around for a few months, I have a quick temporary fix for you but unfortunately the bug will return, if you can live without a screen lock that may be you only solution for now.
Lock Screen ( delete the lock)
Boot to Recovery
Go to Recovery File Manager
Navigate to the /data/system folder
locate and delete the file called : locksettings.db
Now you no longer have a screen lock and you can easily get into the phone.
FYI : If you want the lock again , simply create a new key or pattern
This issue could be anything such as corrupted permissions, It seems that it pops up after installing audio mods and substratum. But I don't think it is caused by either one.
If your phone gets hot while experiencing this issue flash the thermalfix 7 file, located on the thermals thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78717015&postcount=18
This morning I've formated my phone to be sure is not an error from me. I will try your solution if it happens again.
Thanks for your response my friend!
Is it possible f2fs formating data partition is the issue?

It's very likely that this is the origin of the problem. It happens to me too, and have F2FS formated data too.

I'm go back to ext4 and everything is OK.
I saw a magisk module who's made for stop this issue.
If there is a magisk module for that I think the problem is f2fs!

I don't think so because I only use Ext4
Well, I think I finally found the true origin of this problem: Magisk Hide interferes with newer Webview implementations, as explained here:
https://www.didgeridoohan.com/magisk/MagiskIssues#
I also found several workarounds:
1) Disable Magisk Hide. I need some banking apps, so for me this is not an option.
2) Use Chrome Beta and select its engine as default Webview in Developer Options. Chrome Beta signature is not buggy, so it works as it should. This is the solution that I've chosen, by the way.
3) Ask our developers @codeworks @mosimchah and the others if they could include this commit that fixes invalid signatures in their future releases:

Hi all:
Have you managed to solve the screen lock problem? I did not achieve it and I followed all the instructions you mentioned.
A greeting.

It's some app compatibility issue with Android Pie/Webview for sure. In my case was my banking app, changing to Chrome beta fixed the problem (app still crashes from time to time, but I'm not having the damned screen lock problem anymore)
You can try using Webview component alone from Play Store (I notice that in my case it's working too) or do some research to find out which app is causing the issue and uninstall it (if you can live without it, of course)
