[CLOSED] S4 SGH-1337M Where do i find the info i am looking for? - Samsung Galaxy S4 VE Questions & Answers

Hello. I have a question on where i should be going to find the information i am looking for, or if anyone can provide it to me that would be great.
I have a samsung s4 phone. And the things is, im not sure if i should root, or if i need to root, and would like to know the latest android version i can install on it, of course being aware there is all this information provided from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/s4-unified-collection-guides.4224933/
And because there seem to be so many s4 forums, not sure which one exactly i need to be in to perhaps find this info? and i noticed actual android versions to install are not on that link, is there ones that are recommended official and not official improved/safe?
I found my way here from this video:
I am sick of the multiple apps i can no longer use because of my phone. and im not buying a new one no way can i ever afford one. My phone is unlocked.
So with everything i am looking for is there one area that will cover all of this or in different places, or anyone in the know who would care to share?
Thank you for your help it is much appreciated.

SGH-1337M is jftlecan and is supported by Optimized LineageOS from @side, for example.
Each main ROM page has information about supported models. just expand hidden info.

There is no additional information about my model by expanding. Nothing on that page answers any of the questions I asked earlier. And clicking on my model under rom only brings me to download s4 regular one which only goes up to lollipop. And pretty much no information on the file, just the download itself.
Again I have multiple questions in my initial post.

I have a hard time understanding what you mean. I'm giving you a way to find a custom ROM for SGH-i337M, and you insist that you can't find a ROM for SGH-1337M.
There is no such phone with the code SGH-1337M.

SM-S820L Lollipop Update?

Is there any way to get Android Lollipop on the Galaxy Core Prime SM-S820L? I have read about custom ROM's but I still don't know much about them and can't find any for this model. If anyone has found or created a way to flash a custom ROM onto this device, please let me know.

I also own this device, and unfortunately there is very limited support in the custom Rom department. If there was to be a lollipop Rom, someone would either have to port one somehow, or build it from source. Given the development rate for this device, I don't predict it happening anytime soon, sorry to say.
not going to happen
i have been trying since february the answer i got from my carier was samsung is contracted not to support this device thats why that is so hard to find samsung told me to take the device to bestbuy to force update if they could probably irrelavent but maby it helps
SM-S820L Got the Shaft!
Yup! This seems to be the future for the SM-S820L, or lack of future I should say.
I too have the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime SM-S820L. I have spent lots of hours scouring the internet looking through every android related forum in hopes of eventually finding someone that is undertaking much needed programming to build a custom ROM for this CorePrime version.
If you are looking for a custom recovery to use. I can point you to my and others posts over at Needrom. The best I can offer is an unofficial TWRP release, but it DOES work! It does for myself at least and I am no Android Guru whatsoever.
I guess I am not allowed to post Links in any of my posts yet because I am still a NOOB on these forums. I'll PM you with some direction my friend!
I cannot take credit for coming up with any of that software. I simply rooted around long enough to compile a collection of tools and files that worked for me to modify the Recovery of my SM-S820L.
:good: Feel free to shoot me a Private Message on this site or to my personal Email....... [email protected]
I would love to help out as much as I can with modding your phone. Like I said, I'm not a proffesional but I have read up on the procedures used and been successful with my own Galaxy Core Prime:laugh:

Advice on Purchase

Hello,
I'm strongly considering picking up a LePro 3, but I do have some concerns. I understand that the stock software isn't very good and I'm looking towards the community to create excellent ROMs for this device, but I do have some questions:
Do we have a clean method for root/unlock/recovery?
Is there anything stopping developers from putting together ROMs that are optimized for every aspect of the phone? i.e. enough source from LeEco?
How would you say developer support is for this device? I'm a fan of official ROM builds instead of using unofficial. Has anyone announced upcoming support for this device that I can look forward to?
Aside from that, feel free to mention anything else I should be aware of before purchasing the phone!
Thanks so much!

I have no idea what you mean by clean but if you can use adb then yes we do. If you are looking for a one stop shop all in one unlocker then the answer is no. look here for current method:

I believe all source code has been released.

There is minimal development currently. One person is trying to build a Nougat 7.1 Rom. That's a pretty big feat so it will probably be a while. Look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/le-pro3/how-to/7-1-progress-t3511474
There is a developer that posted a debloated version of the x720(international version) of this rom already. It will work on our x727(US version). It is an older version though so there's that. Look here:

This is literally the smallest compilation of threads I've ever seen for a phone so starting a new thread to ask these questions is pretty silly. Since it's the holidays, I've been nice and responded to what could have easily been found in a couple of minutes.

Thanks for the reply.
The reason I compiled these questions were because I was hoping for more specific answers and some clarity. Perhaps I wasn't clear enough my initial post and for that I apologize.
I was reading what seemed to be conflicting information about the recovery software and process in which to flash it to the device. It looked as if there wasn't any goto method or specific TWRP version to go with and that this was still somewhat experimental.
It's good to know that the source has been released. I was seeking info about LeEco and people were saying that they didn't release source code for their phones as company policy.
While I've visited the ROM forum section, I was hoping someone would have insight into official ROMs instead of what currently exists there.
For the US model Le Pro 3 (X727) I would recommend using this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/le-pro3/development/x727-model-persistent-bootloader-unlock-t3500388) method to unlock the bootloader. That's what I did and had no issues. From there you can use TWRP to do a full wipe and install the ROM of your choice. Of course, I would recommend taking a backup of everything before doing this.
I'm running that CM 13 build with no issues on my X727. It's also possible to get the IR blaster working if desired.

LineageOs for different models of S4

Hello, I have a Galaxy S4 and I am considering installing LineageOs on it.
It would be the first time I root my phone but I'm very interested to learn about all this
It's model is GT-I9505, but I only seem to be able to find a LineageOs version for the GT-I9506 now I was wondering, can't I just install the LineageOs build for GT-I9506 on my device?
If not, why? And what's the difference between the two different S4 models?
I hope I put this in the right place...
Thanks in advance!
Different hardware.
If you install it, then your phone will become a plastic brick, unable to boot and, thus, useless.
Do you want that? I don't think so.
I don't know where you looked for ROMs, but this forum contains several LineageOS and LineageOS based ROMs for the GT-I9505. There are two development sections for the GT-I9505, how about looking at them?

Why give a link to an unofficial portal that can't even get the supported phone models correct?
There is no need to link off-site, XDA has everything you need as @Pwnycorn suggests.
2 * basic ports:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...-cyanogenmod-14-1-to-galaxy-s4-i9505-t3520456
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/i9505-orig-develop/rom-lineageos-nightly-builds-t3530822
Optimised port:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...p/jdcteam-optimized-cyanogenmod-14-0-t3479888
The OP asked for a link and didn't specify an XDA link. I see the basic port links are for unofficial ROMs. Does a link that is not on XDA make it any less stable or usable?

The site you linked suggests that the ROM works on all S4 models (I9500, I9505, I9506), which is obviously wrong.
Now, maybe at some point in that tutorial it links to specific zips for each model and maybe I didn't see it? I don't know, may be. I failed to see it.
I thought the builds for the s4 Qualcomm versions (9505, 337m, etc.) were unified at some point and are collectively referred to as the jfltexx. The links take me to androidfilehost with files for the jfltexx.
I agree that the 9500 should not be included, but the 9505 and 337m are included.
As a test, I flashed TWRP for the 9505 to my i337m and downloaded the latest ROM from the site I linked. I flashed both to the i337m and it works.
Some people may feel more comfortable limiting themselves to XDA links and forums but I am fine with non-XDA links and non-XDA developer forums too.
I'm not looking to start any sort of debate; I was simply trying to provide the OP with some information and easy-to-follow instructions.

LineageOS Build for Note 9 [phone] (Need help in understanding build process)

I'm seeking for a build of LineageOS for the Samsung Note 9 (512GB/8Gb).
I'm highly assuming that there has been no progress for it thus far, but gladly I'm willing to learn how to build and maintain it. However, i am going to need some guidance to get started. Feel free to dump link on me to read. Ive been trying to read what i can find, but i have not been getting much information on how to build for completely unsupported devices. Google searching doesn't return much what im looking for, so if theres a guide already out, feel free to link it.
From what i know so far, im going to need...
Device tree - Config Information regarding the device. Not sure where i would get this from
Vendor Tree - Not sure what information his would include. Not sure where i would get this from
Kernel - Not sure what it means by this. Does the kernel need to be custom built for the device?. Not sure where i would get this from.
Then i would potentially be able to build Lineage OS with a proper guide and some time.
Can i either have clarification or guidance on where i can get these / guide to build them?

New to this

Mod Edit:
You have already raised this in Q and A. One question at a time please, in one place.
Thanks
A good rom is Lineage OS 14.1 Official for the S4. It is stable and good for daily usage.
There are pinned posts at the top of the Galaxy S4 General subforum that should be of help in actually rooting the device, though actually rooting it is not difficult. The main question I ask people lately when it comes to a ROM is whether they care about having Touchwiz features or not, as that will narrow down the available choices. From there, only by trying out the ROMs will you find one you like.
Before flashing anything, I recommend booting into download mode to confirm the model number.
Try it and find out. I don't use LineageOS so I can't tell you if it will or will not work. @audit13 no longer has his S4 if I recall so he's not going to be able to tell you, unless he used it in the past. Asking your questions on the forum is more than sufficient, though you will have to be patient when it comes to replies. PMs are dicey. I ignore tech support PMs and audit13's stance on them is unknown to me.
I no longer use an S4 but it's important to know the exact model number before flashing anything. The 9500 is very different, internally, than the 337 and 337m.
