[SOLVED] A40 brick - Samsung Galaxy A40 Questions & Answers

Hi
I flashed system with magisk using odin, then using dd command with root permissions using adb shell i flashed recorvery to twrp(https://twrp.me/samsung/samsunggalaxya40.html), everythink is working perfectu until i try to flash custom rom (OctaviOS-v3.0-a40-20211017-2159-VANILLA-UNOFFICIAL), afret flashing OctaviOS i cleared dalvik and flashed gapps(NikGapps-basic-arm64-11-20220709-signed), and then i rebooted phone. Now i have black screen i cant turn phone on. adb, fastboot and odin dont see it. Previously i was trying to flash other roms but i had some errors and i was have bootloop. I always was going to download mode and via odin flashed stock rom.
I think the problem is with OctaviOS custom rom or NikGapps. It is possible to broke bootloader(or what android have) when flashing rom?

I unbricked phone by turning it off(i holded power button for 60seconds), and going into download mode by volume down + power button, then i flashed stock rom using odin

[Q] TWRP: "custom recovery" not working anymore, TWRP not starting

Hi there,
I wanted to install latest CM10.1 coming from 0526 yesterday on my Defy+.
Did a backup with TWRP first.
Then the flashing failed, so I wanted to recover from backup.
Phone now is stuck at Motorola M not booting anymore.
When I enter bootloader (vol down) and want to enter "custom recover" he just jumps back to the same menu. TWRP is not starting.
Choosing "stock recovery" is possible, but if I choose a CM10.1 zip file it's not accepted.
RSD Lite does not recognize the phone when it's in the bootloader menu or in the stock recover menu.
Help is very much appreciated, what can I do?
Thanks and best regards.

Okay, I found out why I couldn't enter flash mode by using Vol+ when starting.
The phone powered already up when I put in the battery, so I always pushed Vol+ too late.
Pressing Vol+ WHILE inserting the battery did the trick, phone went into flash mode and I could re-flash 2.3.6 sbf using RSD lite.
[Idiot mode=off]
Still not sure why TWRP was messed up just by recovering from a TWRP-made backup...
Best regards
Same situation to me.
I opened Terminal Emulator, gained root access
then type below command to get recovery mode
# reboot recovery
Custom recovery not running
I have a similar issue.
I rooted my stock S4 and installed the proper TWRP.
Heres where my situation is a bit different from anything I have seen on the forum threads. All attempts—both hard and soft—to reboot into recovery, all direct the reboot to Odin Mode. Just to clarify I have not flashed any rom custom or stock, the only thing I have flashed has been TWRP and CWM recovery. And I only flashed CWM AFTER the Failings of TWRP.
When I attempt to boot into recovery, it flashes the blue characters then sends me into a Odin Mode loop until I hard-key the "download mode" and select restart to boot the os normally.
my phone works fine other than not being able to flash custom roms, which is a pain in the arse especially with all the s4 Bloatware.
Here's what I have done so far to help myself:
• install CWM recovery
• tried hard-key reboot recovery (power off/ press home/volume up/power)
• soft reboot recovery through both Goo, CWM and ROM Toolbox pro
• removed my sd card and tried reboot recovery
• removed battery and reboot recovery
• emulator reboot recovery
• reboot recovery both with and without usb cable
I looked into flashing stock with Odin but all tutorials i could find were of an older version and I didnt want to guess what I needed to get that to work,
Please let me know if theres anything I can do.

Stuck on LOGO while going into Recovery Mode

I successfully Flashed Recovery using FastBoot but whenever I am going into recovery mode by pressing VOL DOWN+POWER it just shows OnePlus LOGO and nothing happens after it.
What should I do ?
I was using CW 13 with TWRP but then I FLASHED OXYGEN OS 3.0 and cleared the cache. After that, It is loading into OXYGEN but there is no developer options over there and it is not even going in recovery mode now.

try this method. I tried and solved the problem.
Boot your phone into fastboot and on your pc, try 'fatboot oem device-info'
If it's locked, you're as ****ed as I was, my thread here.
(
You will have to go with Bhalla's unbrick guide
Tutorial on how to still get into your OS and save your stuff is in my thread - fastboot continue
)
If your bootloader is unlocked, try flashing this recovery (modified TWRP).
If it doesn't work - unbrick guide.
Afterwards, use the OOS 3.0 installation guide from Bhalla
try this

System Partition not booting, after reboot its booting into recovery!

Hey, sorry for the ignorance!
I flashed this ZUI (Nougat) rom on top of CM 13 data, phone did boot with old apps. When i pressed factory reset from settings menu the phone went to recovery and since then its only booting into recovery and not into system! everytime i get into TWRP system is not checked. even after mounting system and flashing stock zip. The phone isn't booting into system but recovery only. Tried flashing system.img by Fastboot.
Solved by using QFIl
Flash stock recovery, then boot into recovery.
It will automatically do factory reset, after that your system partition will boot.
Then flash TWRP again.
And do remember, not use Factory reset option from OS while on custom recovery.
Had the same issue, went to fastboot and then flashed through adb. Worked as a charm.

How to switch off the phone stuck in zUK logo with no recovery installed. I tried long pressing the home button but it reboots to zuk logo ,is there any way to switch off the phone
This will fix it without losing any data. (NO FACTORY RESET NEEDED)
Go to TWRP recovery terminal commands, and enter the following:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/fota
PRESS ENTER
THEN TYPE
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/misc
THEN PRESS ENTER
REBOOT
This should boot up your phone without any changes.

Phone with No OS

So the problem starts like this. I rooted my lenovo A6000, flashed it with TWRP (latest version). To flash it with custom Rom i used to go to recovery mode with an app called flashify. the custom Rom was unstable so i wiped it and tried to flash it with other custom ROM. This Rom was corrupted and now i can't boot my phone neither i can go to recovery mode to flash back to stock rom. Please I need Help!!!!
@Samridh Srivastava
Man just pull out the battery.
Put it back in.
Press VOL UP + VOL DOWN + POWER KEY and release the POWER KEY once you see the boot logo.
Your phone will boot into TWRP.
Then you can flash any ROM you want.
Thank you very much, you saved me buddy. Worked for me

Cannot boot into recovery

I flashed a modified stock lollipop rom while on kitkat kernel using TWRP 3.2.1 for KitKat. The rom is booted up without any trouble, but now I cannot boot into recovery mode. I tried flashing different recovery, both for lollipop and kitkat version, via Mobile uncle tools and dd command in terminal emulator. Tried rebooting via power off and pressing volume and power, from the power menu button and reboot recovery command. But the phone doesn't boot into recovery, it vibrates 2 times, shows bootlogo 2 times and restarts normally. Is there any way to fix it (preferably without SP flash tool, because I don't have a PC nearby)
