OnePlus 8 OOS 12.1 updating YouTube after reboot - OnePlus 8 Guides, News, & Discussion

I have YouTube Vanced root version Installed. I have the app blocked from the play store to keep it from updating. I know the play store is not updating Google, because the update doesn't show on the play store. The problem is when I reboot.... The phone updates YouTube to v17.11.34, but the latest YouTube version is v17.32.38. I know is OOS that is updating the app. Why and how can I stop it?
I just checked and that version of YouTube is located in the root partition. Why is Oxygen OS12 updating YouTube from the root partition?

I guess I could use this fastboot command to get rid of these partitions:
fastboot resize-logical-partition my_product 0
my_product
my_engineering
my_stock
my_heytap
my_company
my_carrier
my_region
my_preload
my_manifest

This partitions from Color OS are now implemented in Oxygen OS 12.1 C.33. I am not sure now that they are implemented in OOS... If deleting this partitions will brick or affect the OS.

I guess I figured it out. Vanced manager needs to be installed for the mount script to work.

It's also possible that the Google Play Store is interfering with the YouTube application. I recommend using the non - root variant because it's easier to control than the rooted one.

Found A Kirin Optimized Pie Based Rom For Maye SE

Found a Pie GSI that seems to be working great. It can be found at https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...9-0-0-android-p-pixel-features-kirin-t3833879
Looks like source is located here https://github.com/Huawei-Kirin-Project if someone smarter than me would like to continue the other person's work.
How I installed.
1. Started directly from OpenKirin Lineage with TWRP and Magisk patched kernel.
2. Wiped System, Data and Caches.
3. Flash the img to System Image with TWRP.
4. Flash OpenGapps Nano.
5. Flash Magisk again even though the kernel was already patched.
6. Wipe Caches and reboot to system.
You need to enable Developer Options and choose a Webview implementation. None is chosen automatically. That's why some apps would just close initially. This fixed my Gmail and Amazon app issues.
Issues:
WiFi Hotspot not working.
What I've found so far:
Magisk is working.
Amazon apps force close.
AMI Music won't install. Says it's not available on this device. Could probably restore it from a backup if Titanium worked.
I haven't looked for any solutions yet.

Edit:
Titanium Backup works after flashing Magisk. I originally didn't flash it because my kernel was already patched and I didn't expect the rom to actually work. When it booted, su was working for everything but Titanium so I assumed flashing Magisk wasn't needed in my case.
AMI Music works after restoring from a backup.
Amazon Alexa and Shopping still close. Amazon Music works.
Can an admin fix my subject line please .

I've been using this a DD for three days with no issues. It actually runs better than the OpenKirin Lineage build I was running. The developer was supposedly part of the OpenKirin team who quit.

YouTube Vanced not working on MIUI 11 9.10.24

Whenever I try to install it via Magisk and I reboot, my TWRP just sends me to rescue mode. I've tried experimenting it multiple times but it does the same thing. I've tried doing it with the root method where I use an installer in TWRP, but it doesnt work. Anyone knows how to fix this?
Android being android. I'm facing an issue with Netflix: when hdr content are playing is too dark, barely visible.
Since I have seen other people complaining, I believe is my unique problem. I'm saying that because I haven't seen people complaining about vanced.
Pehaps, you should wipe data. And satr the rom as clean flash. We create those problems by dirty flashing or not flashing stuff right. You could try also deleting all your modules and using magisk 19.3 or 20.0
Install mom root version. It works fine. Non root is more latest version too

Best way to cleanup my nexus 6p

hey all!
I'm a newb....
I have a rooted 6p with the factory image installed, twrp recovery.
I don't recall doing a backup before rooting.....yeah I know not smart....didn't know what the heck I was doing in this process....never rooted a phone.
I installed Magisk......then in my infinite wisdom installed supersu
the phone for the most part works fine, but I am having a problem running frida, it complains about magisk hide. I have removed all the magisk modules...
I am hoping I can some how clean up this phone and completely remove magisk.....and get frida running.
am I toast without a backup?
what is the best way to completely remove and uninstall magisk.
tried to run magisk install again and also magisk uninstall gives me error 1, which I see there are videos for dealing with on youtube...though haven't gone done that rabbit hole
I am quite comfortable using adb
I see bits of magisk all through the file system, just not sure if I should be deleting as I might be getting myself into more trouble.
TIA
Well if you don't mind starting fresh (backing up all your data) as this would erase everything and set your phone back to "factory stock" on the latest official version from google and its as easy as clicking one batch file to get things sorted. You may have messed up some stuff permanently on your system partition by installing/uninstalling two incompatible root solutions etc.

Direct link to latest file: https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/angler-opm7.181205.001-factory-b75ce068.zip
Then you just plug your phone in and run the 'flash-all.bat' file.

Update rooted version 10.5.11 to 10.5.12 EU

I have rooted my OnePlus 8 pro Eu version when I was on 10.5.11. I am not using TWRP.
Yesterday oxygen updater noted me there is a new version available.
So I tested the update. Downloaded the full package using oxygen updater and did the update.
I did not press reboot but started magisk manager to patch the inactive slot. Then rebooted
Jay! Working like a charm and after reboot still root on version 10.5.12
On version 10.5.11 I had removed the Facebook garbage using the magisk module debloat.
I was wondering if the crap was put back after I updated to 10.5.12.
To my surprise no Facebook crap. :good:
Only thing was apps like instagram an Facebook app which I uninstalled were put back in place.
These apps are visible in the app drawer and can be removed and not just disabled.
So TLR; full update does not restore removed system apps like Facebook services but does reinstall uninstallable apps like Facebook and Instagram.

What did you patch with? Boot.img from 11 or 12?
Good news about Facebook lol.. Horrible platform altogether.
I did the initial rooting on version 11 using a patched boot.img from 11. Updating to 12 I used magisk manager to patch the inactive slot before rebooting after the update (so patching version 12 which never booted before) and after magisk did it's magic, rebooted to activate the inactive slot and voila, a rooted 12

Well I managed to get a 12 firmware for EU 2023 11BA
Extracted the boot image from 12.
Patched with Magisk.
Flashed with fastboot to both slots.
Now rooted on 12 with 12
Will make a guide and upload files tomorrow, there is no guide at the moment.
I have done the same process from 11BA to 12BA without problem, easy and no sweat.
I did not disable any magisk module too.
What are your reasons for rooting your device ?
For me basically ..Adaway
But as Android is developing ..I find less reason to root
Removing bloat is another reason and Viper was also must but with OOS Dolby already and many of the features I find less and less reason to root

Removing the bloatware and Tasker. Tasker does not do much without root.

I installed fresh official rom, but youtube shows error 400??

Is this error apps fault or phones?
Also how do i fiux this?
I tried all logical things like deleting data, instaling updated yt from playstore. By the way android version is 5.0
Install custom rom android 10 or 11 and then download YouTube apk from apk mirror.com
