Does the LG V20 H990DS work on VoLTE on Telstra Network in Australia? - LG V20 Questions & Answers

Hi,
Please can you tell me know if VoLTE works in Australia for Telstra which it the largest mobile network carrier in this country? Other companies rent the same network such as Boost Mobile. The reason this is really important to know is that all the main carriers here are discontinuing 3G service in mid 2024. I just found this article from Telstra which says that once they discontine their 3G network that the only way to send and recieve calls will be with VoLTE in a 4G area. Here is a link if anyone wants to read that article.
https://www.telstra.com.au/support/mobiles-devices/enable-volte-mobile-phone#compatible-device
Please can anyone tell me if they've had success making VoLTE calls on the LG V20 especially using any of these inluded Rooted ROMs from these posts?

Please share your T-Mobile US HD2 Unlocking and International 3G network experience

Me and seemingly hundreds of other users are waiting to see if it is possible to unlock the March 24th-released T-Mobile US HD2 and also to see if it is possible to connect to 3/3.5G networks outside the US/Canada before we purchase. Please post any experiences you have of:-
1. Unlocking the T-Mobile US version of the HD2 to use on other carriers (say how you did it and which carrier you changed to).
2. Using the T-Mobile US HD2 on a 3/3.5G network outside of North America (say which country and carrier and download speeds).
3. Flashing the T-Mobile US HD2 to different ROMs/radios.
I have contacted a carrier in Taiwan (FarEasTone) and they said that it "should" work there on the 2100Mhz band if it is unlocked but I want solid proof before I lay down the cash.
I found this old link www gsm-forum.eu/smart-phones-pdas-palm-organizers/16571-htc-unlock-free.html that has software that might've unlocked older models of HTC phones. Might be worth a try or please share if you know of any other free software that does the same thing for the T-Mobile US HD2.
Please don't bother posting if you are just asking whether it works or not.
Thanks for sharing!
Unlocking the tmobile hd2 (1024Leo)
they are calling it the 1024Leo after the fact that it has 1 gig rom. You MUST use the spl 2 to unlock it and roms specifically made for tmo hd2.
Not sure if the euro band is there but you can check phone>> settings for bands supported. Tmos rom is not bad but not for me. Cant wait to redo it.
Here is a good link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5983094#post5983094
For my knowledge, I already tried T-Mobile Touch 3G at Taiwan by Taiwan Mobile network and it is working right now. Touch 3G has same band support with TMobile US HD2. I will receive HD2 in couple days, I will try it and post the result. TMobile use 1700Mhz and 2100Mhz together for 3G but all Taiwan 3G network use 2100Mhz or 900Mhz only.
Did anyone experience??
Did anyone experience the unlocked t-mobile HD2 to work with 3g outside the US????
I hope anyone could share the experience!!

I have used my unlocked t-mobile hd2 in Latvia, Netherlands, and United Kingdom so far, and had 3G in all three countries.
I am currently using mine in the Philippines and is doing great I am getting fast speeds on Globe Telecom Network. Speed is quite good switching from 3g to H most of the time.

I was in Europe last month and got a 3G connection in France (mostly Bytel) and the UK (mostly T-Mobile). Speeds varied from about 400Kb to 1100Kb. I was using a locked phone with a T-Mobile USA SIM. I talked to a UK T-Mobile dealer and he said they were using the 2100Mhz band for 3G. Prepaid SIM cards were available everywhere. I didn't use cellular data that frequently (mostly sent pictures with WiFi) so I never bothered to get the phone unlocked.
Brazil
I Live in Brazil and my operator is " 3G BRA BrTCelular Oi "
I buy my T-Mo HD2 on april unlocked on US
Until the update to 2.13 my phone freeze many times when I connected on 3G network and next received a call
After update to 2.13 no more freeze problems
Finally!!!
Wooooooooooooohhhhhhoooooooooooo!!!
Just got the phone, and the 3g network is working perfectly like a charm!!!
Thank God!!
Awesome phone!!! I love hTC!!
So that makes Africa included with the others and especially Egypt for the TMOUS working for 3g network outside the US!!
Go ahead HD2 lovers BUY........ and ENJOY!!!
1. Unlocking the T-Mobile US version of the HD2 to use on other carriers (say how you did it)
does anyone know how to do this and have the appropriate numbers etc ???????
...you either buy an unlocking service somewhere online, or call T-Mobile customer care and request an unlock code if you are a current T-Mobile customer.
t-mobile US HD2 uses HDSPA 17/2100 bands for 3G so anywhere those bands are present, you should get 3G (unless the local carrier is blocking it for non in network phones)

Data works in England
My husband and I are in London with our unlocked TMOUS HD2 and LG Optimus T phones, and I can get 3G on Vodafone prepaid. All I had to do was dial 191 on my handset to get Vodafone customer service, and told them that I am visiting from the U.S. using an unlocked HTC HD2, and would like the APN settings for the data connection. The rep sent me a couple of text messages, one that said the set up text was also coming and what PIN to use to run the set up executable, and the other message contain the set up executable. It worked straight away, and the 3G service is pretty quick. I have looked at a YouTube video with no stutter, and launch web pages without delay. I am very pleased.
I unlocked my HTC HD2 to use it with AT&T at SuperUnlockCodes for a very cheap price and quickly.

Hi, I can confirm that even you have it UICC unlocked, it won't work with China Mobile/Unicom/Telecom.
Service status will be SEARCHING always.

I tried to contact sprint customer service, They told even their phone is unlocked, they still can not use other carrier's sim card. BUT as we can see sprint iphone 6 and 6+ are oversea unlocked in China, and supporting China Mobile TD-LTE bands( Band 38 ,41).
Let's see this phone, when I got into the hidden menu, I figured out that 306sh is support TD-LTE band 41, That's means if it is oversea unlocked (like iPhone 6 example). It is possible that 306sh also is oversea unlocked, the best carrier for support 306sh is China Mobile (TD-LTE), China Telecom (CDMA 1X, CDMA ev-do REV A, TDD-LTE, FDD -LTE), Softbank (Japan FDD-LTE, TDD-LTE, HSPA+).
I ll try take it to have a oversea test. Let's wait.
According to your saying, technically we could unlock it to use in China and Japan.

In theory, I have to say it could be oversea unlocked. However, if we want to use the phone oversea. We have to concern about two issues.
First, the phone had better be unactivated. I am not sure we can use a CDMA phone burned some carriers information on abroad. So an unactivated aquos is more likely can be used oversea.
Second, If we use china mobile's network, I don't think the phone can make a call. that because, china mobile is a gsm carriers, they do not support CDMA phone. Only thing we can use from china mobile is their TD-LTE network. So if we insert CMCC sim card, the phone will become a web only phone that is unable to make a call. Or if China Mobile has VoLTE technology. On the other hand, China Telecom's network will be a best choice for 306sh. Cauz China Telecom's 2g 3g 4g network is exactly same with Sprint network. Let's see, softbank. the situation is a little bit similar with China Mobile. Softbank also is a GSM carrier, but Softbank they do not have 2G network, about 10 year ago, Japan closed all their 2G network, that's means, Softbank do not have GSM GPRS and EDGE. for replacement, they have WCDMA, HSDPA, HSUPA, HSPA+, FDD-LTE and TDD-LTE, so aquos also is very suitable to Softbank in Japan.
Let's waiting for the test.

Moto g5 plus indian version in US

Hi ,
I bought moto g5 plus in india. Now i moved to US and using ultra prepaid services. Signals are coming and going(not stable). Calls are getting disconnected in between due to loss in signal. Sim is working fine on moto g 1st gen which i also bought from india 3 years ago. I did factory reset. Will the basic calling and 3g internet work ? sometimes signal is getting detected it is displaying as E(edge) not LTE. also tell about 4G LTE ? Motorola US also not considering as it is bought in india. What to do in this case ? Please suggest. I will be happy if the basic calling and 3g works
You can go to your service providers and ask them whats going on
what carrier are you using in the US?
Tmo heavily uses 1700 around me, and the Indian variant doesn't support it, but it will fall back to 2100, which is support. 2G/Voice should be support though.
something else I would be curious to know is if you have roaming enabled on your device?

LG K20 Plus - MP260 MetroPCS Network Issue

I have a LG K20 Plus from MetroPCS. the phone is already unlocked and it only receives 2G signal when I am using outsode USA.
I checked APN and every other setting I could find through internet but the problem still remains the same.
Does anyone know how to access the hidden network menu and activate the necessary baseband to get 4G?
3845#*260# ----->>> secret menu for lg phones
didn't work.
*#546368#*260#
Field test, then modem settings, rat selection. Then you can choose 2g/3g/4g etc. Gsm/wcdma is just 3g(hspa). Gsm/cdma/lte is 4g obviously.
Theres a ton of other settings within that service menu also
Hello please i have entered the code and followed the instructions but its still not working
Which company are you trying to use outside the US?
The K20 has a pretty limited selection of LTE bands, it may not support your carrier. There is no practical way to add LTE bands unless your'e a wiz at editing hexadecimal in the baseband nvram, like some have done for Samsung Galaxy phones.
*#*#4636#*#* will get your phone to test mode
Sent from my LG K20 Plus using XDA Labs
Help needed urgently!!!
Have a similar issue....from Nigeria specifically....Can someone pls post a tutorial on how we can enable additional LTE bands or at least get a 3G network on this phone ..its really frustrating working with 2G...
HELP NEEDED URGENTLY!!!
I have the same problem in Switzerland. It works with 2G but can not switch to 4G on my LG K20 Plus. It is unlocked but I got it in the US with Metro PCS.
Help much appreciated!
Having the same problem here in the Philippines, can someone help. 2g is not helping me but stressing me out!

VS995 - do 'Unlocked' versions still have HD Voice?

I am trying to buy a new V20 VS995 on ebay right now, but the only NEW ones all say they are 'Unlocked' (I need the VS995 because I have Verizon). I made a previous post yesterday and the responses made me do some research, and I have now learned that Verizon is retiring CDMA around the end of the year, and 4G NON-HD Voice phones will no longer work on the network beyond that. The VS995 does indeed have HD-Voice, but I am confused if the 'Unlocked' versions of the VS995 for sale are devoid of that feature, and if they are still Verizon compatible (since I also have read the "unlocked" US996 model no longer works on Verizon)? If so, then I'd rather get a non-unlocked VS995 phone because it would still be useful beyond 2020. I am a total noob compared to most people here... so these may be basic questions. If anyone can help me in making my decision, I'd be so so thankful.
I'm sorry if my post made no sense. I am just wondering if VoLTE is on the VS995 'unlocked' version. Or if I need to get a 'Network Locked' version to have the VoLTE feature. Verizon it seems will discontinue any non-VoLTE phones, and not allow me to activate them at this point. Just what I read, maybe I'm wrong. I don't want to waste my money. I hope this question makes some sense.
All VS995 phones actually came SIM unlocked out of the box because for a while up until last summer, Verizon was required by law to have their phones come unlocked as part of a deal when they purchased some network frequencies a while back. So, all VS995 models are the same and may only differ by the software that's currently installed when you buy one. VoLTE on Verizon should work on any VS995.

Thank you thank you thank you!!! I couldn't find that information anywhere, so it really helps a lot for you to share it.
Isn't VoLTE dependent on whether your service provider provides it. I only get voicemail messages when I put my fone on LTE/CDMA.
Settings>More>MobileNetworks>SystemSelect> NetworkMode give me options of Global, LTE/CDMA and LTE/GSM/UTMS. I don't get any calls if I select LTE/CDMA but data goes to 4G+ and won't throttle down to 3g. Advanced calling is greyed out as an option to select but that must be because my network provider doesn't provide it.

Yes, availability of VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling depends on the support of the carrier. And at least in the U.S., if the carrier provides those features, the phone also has to be on whatever certification whitelist the carrier uses. Within the next 2–3 years, all major U.S. carriers are planning to shut down all networks below LTE (2G/3G/CDMA), so VoLTE will become a requirement to make phone calls over here. This may become an issue for any unlocked US996 owners in the U.S. as I don't know if that model gets VoLTE on the other carriers such as AT&T and T-Mobile, who strongly prefer their carrier-branded H910 and H918 variants.
