General Nothing Phone 1 won't be sold in the US, but future models might - Nothing Phone 1

FYI...
Nothing Phone 1 won't be sold in the US, but future models might
The lack of sales for Nothing Phone 1 in the US may be due to the Nothing company being unable to get a US wireless carrier.

I think that the USA is very lucky not to have this phone , nothing ( non pun intended ) but a load of trouble and faults

Att doesn't support Nothing phone 1. I use to be able to put my att sim into non att phone and it will work. However, to get 5g I have to call att and activate my new 5g sim card. In the process they ask for my IMEI and said not att phone and restrict my sim card.
i think if you have att 5g sim card and put in Nothing phone 1. Maybe it will work because att doesn't know the IMEI. Don't give att IMEI because att can put a restriction on your sim card and phone.

The only major sim card providers in the states that will work on a wing, would be
T-Mobile
AT&T
Corr Wireless
or any other GSM Providers
The one's that won't work are
Verizon Wireless
Sprint
Boost Mobile
Alltel
or any other CDMA,iDEN Providers

[Q] Sprint unlocked my SGSS

Hi I had my phone unlocked by sprint and got a confirmation email saying my device is unlocked for international use. I was told by the sprint representative that there is no way in testing if the phone is unlock when I'm in the US. Is this true? or is there a way I can test the phone if it's unlocked, I do have an international sim card from Jamaica but I want to test if the phone is unlock before I leave the states.
borrow a friends SIM?
this belongs in the Q&A section not general.
this has been answered already. you can test if its unlocked by putting an att or tmo sim card in. if there is no sim card error when you boot up.. then its unlocked.
the sim error would be in the status bar. "invalid sim". if you see invalid sim.. it's not unlocked, despite what sprint says.
if it IS unlocked properly.. that still doesnt mean that you can use tmo/att... itll only pic up a gsm signal when using an international sim.
I have a sim card from Jamaica, I am going to try it when I get home but I think I forgot to change the mobile network to GSM when I inserted the the international sim card.
Just got back from my trip to Jamaica and my phone worked great with the international sim card. I had the sim card with me in the US and it didn't work when I was here but as a landed in Jamaica I put the bad boy in and I had service only down fall was I couldn't get data. So the unlock from sprint do work internationally.

Click to collapse
Just flash an official firmware via odin and you´ll be alright
Sounds like a bad install of twrp it shouldn't be corrupt flash
Okay I got the phone flashed with custom recovery cwm and even installed cynogenmod on the phone which all works great, I got service last night from straight talk to find out that I cannot use this phone at all for their service for what ever reason even though their website said it would work, flashing the phone to a different service would that work on this phone or would it still be in the same boat I am in now
is your phone CDMA cricket or the new GSM?
its a gsm phone, cricket told me they are switching to cdma and this phone will no longer work with cricket at all, they also told me the phone cannot not be unlocked for other carriers, I was still hoping that it can work with straight talk, i already got the plan and sim cards but it wont take it
Umm, you have that backwards. Cricket was purchased by AT&T and is transitioning from CDMA to GSM. So your Cricket phone is more likely a CDMA model.

ok
Okay if it's the cdma phone then it can be flashed over to straight talk correct, Here is what I got, I got a samsung galaxy s4 rc970c model from cricket which uses their sim card, I do not have the old sim card from them but i do have the ones from straight talk, when I put that sim card in it, it does not recogonize it at all or askes me anything at all about it, so basically what do i need to do to get this phone to work with straight talk and i still need a number for it as well
I also have a samsung exhibit from metropcs, i would rather have the s4 work with straight talk but for now I just need service with a new number some how thank you so much for all your help
also both of these phones take sim cards so idk if that means gsm or cdma and from what I've been reading this should be a gsm phone as it takes sim card not sure if that is only for internet or not, i downloaded a app sim card reader or what ever and it says it's a cdma phone
Cricket may well be like Verizon, in requiring a SIM card for its LTE service. However, CDMA phones on the Straight Talk BYOP program do not use SIM cards and instead use an activation code. The consequences of this are that if the phone is compatible, LTE will likely not be available to you.
If you purchased a SIM thinking the Straight Talk CDMA Phone Information Page covered GSM phones as well, you're out the cost of the SIM, though you could probably sell it to someone with a GSM phone. If the phone is indeed compatible as you said, you want to buy an activation code instead.
for now all I want is to get this phone that I have working with phones calling, I can care less about the lte internet stuff I do most of everything via wifi anyways from my own network and I'm usually at home and don't need the net on the go that fast, How do I get this phone to work cause their website says it's compatible but it wont take the imie says we do not offer service in that area code and I know for a fact they do I'm in metro denver colorado they have shops everywhere
If the combination of IMEI and zip code says service isn't available, then there's no way to use the phone on Straight Talk in your area. Call them and ask why that is, but I wouldn't expect a good answer. I can only speculate why Straight Talk isn't available in the area for your phone, but I believe it to be because the phone is a Cricket phone. The BYOP program is generally geared to the major carriers. Minor carriers and MVNOs aren't accounted for.

SM-G900R7 - No mobile connections, just wifi

Hello,
I came upon a G900R7. I have no idea what carrier it was originally on. But the thing is in a weird state. It doesn't seem to be locked, but it won't take a sim card from multiple carriers. AND the IMEI is not blacklisted. It comes up all green.
When you boot it without a sim card, it complains that there is no sim card. When you put a sim card in it, it just doesn't connect to ANY mobile networks. No calls, sms, data, nothing. I've reset it back to stock, rooted and added TWRP.
I know they say the R7 is from C Spire or nTelos or whatever. But I'm 95% sure it's not from one of those carriers. That carrier doesn't really exist in this area.
Anyway, if you have any ideas on how I can get this thing to get back on a network (re-format EFS or whatever) please let me know. Thanks!
If they say it belongs to C Spire or nTelos or whatever, I'd suggest testing a SIM from one of those carriers....
Yeah I've never even heard of those carriers. And I can't imagine where I would find those services, other than ordering a bunch of stuff online.
There has got to be a way to unlock this thing. From everything I've read, C Spire doesn't lock their devices. And I should be getting an unlock screen if it was locked. So I'm thinking this is a baseband/firmware issue. I mean it's like it doesn't understand what the mobile radios are doing in this phone.
I wonder if there is a way to flash all of the radios back to stop. Perhaps something is wrong with the firmware itself.
Hi! Let me know if yo solve the problem.! I have the same issue! Exactly like that! [email protected]
I have this phone and my carrier is c spire which used to be cellular south.
My friends have phones like this on Triangle Mobile.
This carrier was on a 3g only network until the end of 2015 . They then started using 4G lte but in order to get on their 4G network You have to buy a new ,overpriced phone from them . The phones my friends have , have the 4glte sticker on the back and, a sim card slot but there's no sim card in there. The carrier says they can't update or do anything to the phone that would make it work with 4glte.
Did you ever find a solution to this? I have the cspire s5 and I unlocked it. It was reading Sims for a while but for some reason now it wont and I can't figure out what I need to do to get it to read my at&t sim again.

Unlocked verizon S5; how to use it with T-Mobile?

Hi guys; I did get 2 S5 phones, both unlocked, but they came from different carriers. One is from ATT, the other from Verizon. One is a G900A while the other is a G900V; so the model is matching the carrier.
Now, with the ATT one, I just pop the sim card in, and it works (I have a nano, but it fits in the micro slot), the phone works fine, nothing wrong with it.
The verizon one is not liking it...I get a message that say that the SIM card is not present. I did think it was broken, so I did pop in an old sim card that is not working anymore, which is also the micro size, so the correct size, and the phone say that the sim inserted is not a Verizon sim.
I have no idea why this phone, is doing this. I was told that the phone is unlocked, but the strange thing is that it won't accept any nano sim (while the same S5 from ATT does take it without problems), and that it won't allow me to use anything that is not a Verizon sim. Did I buy a phone that is locked? Should I get another one of the ATT model? Reading on the forum, I did see that you need a verizon sim card for the first activation and then you can swap the T-mobile in, and change the network settings, but I do not have a Verizon sim card available, and before waste 10 dollars at the local store, I would like to know if there is anything else that I can do to make the phone to work. Or if I should just return it; this came from Amazon, so that's easy to fix. Thanks!
