FireHD 10 Suez { Speed of Lineage vs Stock } -- Processing.org sketches - Fire HD 8 and HD 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have a couple of these 2017 fire HD tablets all rooted and experimenting with various OS's on them.
I've been working on a processing.org sketch on android for a couple years now and running into some unique FPS issues.
When I run Lineage 2022 May edition, the app runs at roughly ~22FPS
When I run the same app on 5.6.2.0_Fire_HD_10_optimized_pre_rooted_stock_rom-signed.zip I get roughly ~40 FPS.
**Side note, I built a quick sketch to post here with source code and APK but when I run it on both tablets, they are both 60FPS.. which leads me to believe something else is going on weird. The sketch just dumps a bunch of circles on the screen and displays FPS in biggen font.
Is there anything I can do to provide someone details for research or help me in troubleshooting?
I'm tempted to try a old lineage build like
[discontinued][ROM][unlocked][suez] Lineage-12.1 [05 MAY 2020]Generally just work my way up to later and later builds and figure out where it broke and stay there.
Technically I don't NEED to run lineage, but I would like really any version of any OS for the fire HD that runs quickly. It doesn't need to be the latest.
I just need something with some customizability.. run app on USB power, auto power off tablet when USB power is removed... I haven't got that far yet.. but my requirements are minor.
Additionally.
Could someone provide some links to all the various os packages I can try installing?.. Not sure if it would be helpful, but a pinned post with just url's to all?
So far I have seen latest MAY 2022 release of Lineage, then these hacked older versions of the fire OS software. Is there any others?? Please link below I'd like to try them out.
Thank you,
Take care.

any news here ?

I haven't seen anything. I was just scooping up all OS releases and running a test sketch on each one.. I can publish a simple APK file if people want to try this out. But really there are better benchmarking apps out there, mine was just simple like draw a bunch of circles on a screen and print the fps.

Thanks... I'm going to install Lineage, so if you want to me compare....

Hi Targa,
I made a post on Reddit a while ago with the same subject and realized I didn't update the thread here.
This is what I tried.
5.6.2.0_Fire_HD_10_optimized_pre_rooted_stock_rom-signed.zip I get roughly ~40 FPS.
lineage-12.1-20200505-UNOFFICIAL-suez.zip ~locked at 44FPS. oldy thou.
lineage-14.1-20190926-UNOFFICIAL-suez.zip ~locked at ~48 FPS, less oldy.
*These aren't links.
As far as the OS is concerned, with what I am using the tablet for, I really do not care which one to use.
I have some basic requirements in which I'm guessing that any of them will work.
*I need a method to power on the device when USB power is applied.
* This app would auto start that I specify.
*When usb power is removed, the tablet would turn off.
I'm putting this in a car and writing some custom processing.org sketch and since the tablet is in a 3d printed caddy like thing, I don't have easy access to the power button and need things to be automated, I also don't want to have to touch the screen to launch something. Perhaps wishful thinking.
Thanks.

crap, I bricked by tab while trying to bring it to Lineage... Guess I need to open it now.
Thanks.

Is it the waiting for bootrom message? if it is plug in the usb leave it at the waiting for bootrom message on the terminal and hold the power button on the tab, it should take 5-15 seconds and it will then just say "remove short" which in the scheme of things there was no short. just hit enter and continue. I've done 3 of these tablets.

Yes, I managed, thanks for the hint (even if I already managed before, it was described in one of the threads).

No worries, I think a lot of times its hard to write guides. I tend to be overly verbose when explaining things to help with a lot of the back and forth. Habit I guess..

Did you find the "perfect" Software for your hardware?

@targa which Lineage OS version did you find to be more stable? I am going to change from stock because of compatibility issues... My primary requirement is reading and watching, after getting used to higher refresh rate displays I feel its too odd to use something with lower framerates, so I want to know more about it. also I bricked my suez(FireHD 10)... and if someone can help me a lil bit please feel free to send a message.

Hi there,
Honestly, I would try them all. My only test scenario was a single app I am making for a personal project.
My requirements were pretty low. Wireless needs to work, it needs to not drain power and decent frame rate in my app. Sound isnt required.
My results were pretty mixed and when it boiled down to it. It almost didn't make much of a difference. Because I don't need a lot of features, I would probably stick with the oldest release, and the sound patch to allow head phones to work.
Which is why I would say try them all. The latest does not always mean the best in my opinion. Feel free to prove me wrong here, I am up for discussion.
Thank you,
Take care.

Hi,
my tablet is now on Lineage and I'm happy with it. But my use cases aren't really extensive, I basically use it so that my kids can watch videos and earplays and some games. But for sure it's a lot better and newer than FireOS. I believe headphones did work so far.

why upgrade to windows 8?

I am really fail to find any reason to use windows 8 in any form .
i use now windows 7 x64 and i really fail to see how windows 8 is better other then that ugly stupid Metro thing good only in tablets.
some minor fixes and changes but i won't do a clean install just for that.
So please light me why Microsoft even made it?

First off its no % faster its X faster ie text rendering is like 10X faster etc.
The new start screen is far more productive.
You can use 16bit installers on 64bit os
better hardware support
way more secure
more stable
better power management uses fraction of the battery
built in hardware acceleration across the whole OS
better graphics handling
cleaner os that gets less clutter by design
You can save your entire system to a usb stick for working remote sites
better memory management
faster booting programs - crisis was half the time, auto cad was 1/4
boots faster including instant boot - with the correct hardware
wakes from sleep almost instantly (less then a second on an old Centrino laptop)
SSD support is far better - faster
AND YOU DONT NEED TO USE METRO APPS!!! If you don't like Metro don't use it! If you want to give up on vastly better faster more secure more stable system because you prefer to search a list instead of looking at a grid of tiles then so be it. And all that for a few quid as well, I don't get this hate i really don't please someone actually explain it to me! Why is it such a bad thing? Surely its only a cosmetic thing as other then that its much much better for a pile of reasons i have listed in other threads and at worst its on par. Surely you love of a list to sacrifice progression is just odd and you cant then argue its about productivity as for a ton of reasons win 8 smashes any other version out the park on that.
I would never pay full retail for it but for $40... this is a major upgrade to the OS in terms of stability and performance. Also, you don't necessarily need a clean install (i hope for microsoft's sake).
-Copy and delete jobs can now be paused. Yeah. You'll be missing out on a feature that simple if you don't upgrade.
-Multiple copy/delete jobs now take up a single window. No longer will multiple copy/delete jobs clog the task bar with multiple instances.
-Realtime, background backups with multiple states (So you can access every single version of a file there ever was on your computer)
-Backup to network hard-drives
-The $40 upgrade will net you Windows 8 Pro, even if you only have Windows 7 Home Premium. That means you'll get all the extra stuff like encryption and a maximum 192GB of RAM, rather than 16GB.
-Integrated social networks/mail/calendar/etc
-Cloud synchronisation of OS settings
-Simple and clean recovery options
-File copy jobs are now like 2+ times faster
-Faster in all aspects. Less CPU usage, less RAM usage, faster file management.
-Absolutely no intrusion from Windows Update. Ever. No pop ups or anything.
The boot times truly are astonishing. My Windows 8 Release Preview notebook with 7200rpm hard drive boots faster than my Windows 7 with SSD, even though the notebook's installation is older and the hard drive is more full.
Every boot, unless you restart due to an update, is sort of a hybrid between hibernation and full shutdown. Drivers and system files in a loaded state are saved to the disk, and immediately transferred into the RAM at boot.
UI navigation is faster than Windows 7, too. I only used the start menu to search. I never actually used All Programs because it was too slow and small to navigate, and got clogged with readmes and other stuff.

I avoided the all programs because it took way too many clicks to get anywhere. But on Windows 8 its just a "click" or two of the scroll wheel and you're there (depending on how you arrange your start screen).
Though what bugs me the most is that when you install a program it pins so many shortcuts to the start screen (probably devs have to fix it themselves). For example I installed solidworks last week and it put 15-20 icons on there for all of its settings and edrawings crap.
SSD faster??
I'm running two vortex 3 raid 0 will this be faster?

Please explain your comment instead of just putting up FUD! How in any way is Windows 8 a downgrade from 7? We are open to talks both ways but your comment is just inflammatory negative and plain wrong without any valid argument or point!
I would really love to hear your views on WHY it is a downgrade please share. I have yet to find anyone who can say why other then "I don't like the way it looks". You seem to be very direct with your point so you must have reasons! come on share them or are you just a troll?

Yes,
though running vortex in raid 0 is risky they have a fairly high fail rate and yes you get some speed bens of 0 with SSD its not anything like the diff in hhd running it.

fear, uncertainty and doubt was not spread by me. also, there was no inflammation involved.
also, when you use "we" instead of "I", you infer a representation of more than one person. I commented to the op, very specifically, and am only speaking for myself. are you speaking for a group?
read the op's original post. he doesn't like w8, doesn't care for the UI, doesn't like the features that are new. very simply, he doesn't need to downgrade to something he's not interested in, and will receive little to no benefit from.

We if ref the community as a whole, generally if you go to forums its because you wish to share knowledge and/or talk about the pro and cons of each topic. Clearly your not involved in this collective as you fall into the closed minded I need to spread hate category that plague us.
Second of all you have not put any constructive point still. Yes the OP stated a dislike for the UI but asked past that is there a reason to upgrade so you listing the original concern is not putting forward anything.
Yes there is no need but then there is no NEED to leave XP for a couple years yet but does that mean if I like the look of XP its a downgrade to go to 7 or 8? personally I think the best looking phone is the nokia 8850 does that mean that im on a downgraded phone now I use my Lumia 800 or my One X?
There has been plenty of reasons put forward as to why its a good upgrade look above ie faster, more secure, better hardware support, better graphics support, faster browsing, better power consumption etc etc but I guess there all downgrades to after all who wants to be secure and fast when you can have something older and slower because you don't like the "look" of something you use about 1% of the time.
Also no the fear isn't spread by you its spread by the closed minded, the commenters that look at vids instead of using, reporters paid by Apple a fear of the unknown an unwillingness to change and more then anything else a game dev who stands to lose out after MS offer something better then his silly games store that runs better on 8 then 7.

It is nothing to do with positive or negative input! Its about that input having substance or meaning and pref with facts or evidence to back it up. To say something is a downgrade when someone is asking for advice from people that have insight when you have nothing to back that up is not only negative and derogatory its also of no help. If you have a valid reason why then by all means share it but as I said, only someone who has not even used Windows 8 for any amount of time would think that the new interface is anything more than a slight change to people that don't want to install metro apps.

again, the op said he didtn like it.
is it not fairly easy to understand that using something you like less , is a downgrade?
no matter how much paint you put on a pig, its still a pig.
now, hold her horses, this is -not- a comparison to w8. this simply means , no matter how much you point out how great something is, if someone doesn't like pig.... they just don't like pig!

I use my pc purely for gaming and Web browsing. I use my mbp for everything else as I prefer osx for productivity. Those things listed don't seem to help much for Gaming. I have ssd sata3, will speeds improve? Also ultimate 7 already allows me to back up to a network hdd. I haven't read much good about gaming.. Gabe Newell didn't seem to like what win8 had to offer. Thoughts?

so i read this thread yesterday b/c i was thinking of upgrading to W8... just installed it, and aside from something going wrong and me having to do a clean install halfway through installation which means i lost all my existing files, this thing is AWESOME!!! takes a moment to get used to... but having the option to use the normal look is good to have on there!! now time to install all my programs again lol

Mail app is trash for gmail (kind of like hotmail and yahoo for android - they suck). Same with people and messenger for facebook. It's better to use the desktop sites for these. Calendar is nice for viewing google calendar, it puts reminders on your lock screen and live tiles. Though if you want to change anything I would suggest using the website again.
thanks... i guess what i was referring to was the whole integration part... pictures, mail, im, etc... but i guess its not that big of a deal really... chrome installed fine and i just use that anyways... still some getting used to... but it's nice and i love the smoothness and speed of this!

Gaming and web browsing see a big improvement. That said I would wait till you get the final build drivers out for your graphics card as with any new system.
Games boot times and load times are massively improved, cutting some load times in half already (will get faster as drivers and updates come). Not only that most comparisons also see a reasonable diff in fps and that is on beta graphics drivers. On top of that you get some cool features like cross platform live integration and xp points. You get live chat without needing some clunky background software eating your resources. Also if you set up the backup features right if say you accidently over save a game you can roll back to any date the save file (there was a really good write up on how this is useful http://www.pcpro.co.uk/blogs/2012/08/03/how-windows-8-file-history-saved-my-career/ ). Don't listen to Gabe he is just kicking off because he sees the MS store as competition to his own and so is trying to manipulate the market into running an OS that again forces users into his store, nothing more than that!
Also browsing is improved though not as much as I would of like but even a small improvement is better than non. most notably is that test is now rendered with hardware acceleration as well as everything else. You deffo wont see a decrease here and its worth a note that its much more secure esp in metro browser (but then you lose plugin support but will ask if you want to flip to desktop so you don't lose anything really as it will just flip when you ask it to).

Updated TI OMAP Video Driver for Sluggish Performance + Android L Compatibility

This may be helpful to our devs to resolve the sluggish video performance in NOOK HD / HD+ (TI OMAP Chip):
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/galaxy-nexus-gets-new-life-with-updated-gpu-drivers/
The current video driver used makes demonstrates the sluggishness in video performance as shown here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nook-hd/help/nook-hd-embarrassingly-slow-t2837028/post54587754#post54587754
Once updated, the Nook HD / HD+ should be able to demonstrate smooth video performance as the Amazon Kindle Fire 8.9, which uses the same TI OMAP Chip
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=hUW6KARo8Y4#t=1164
Is this compatible with CM11?
I'm also curious about this...seems like it could fix a lot of the odd slugishness we see...
Thanks!
Definitely curious. Wanting to know what it would take to make a kernel that incorporates this even though I don't know how to do these things.

Just a thought that if the cm maintainers do bring L to the nooks, and if that required newer video driver, then they would or else there would be no L on the nooks. Otherwise, I'm not so sure they would spend the time to do so if it required too much work.
Course, there's always the thought of someone else doing it.
Bumping to show that I'm really interested
Going to look into it now. Syncing slowly but surely.
We have no cm-12 branch for these devices yet. ( or ever )
Not sure who's maintaining it these days. I'm going to look into the commits and see what can be used here. :fingers-crossed: :fingers-crossed: :fingers-crossed:

And hurray for Linux Mint!
Sent from my Nook HD+
Busy with work and such, then had a baby a month ago. I'm up every few hours at night anyways so figured I might as well look into this.
About an hour into the build, it will probably finish but I noticed I'm missing some build patches to make things work, so it likely won't boot.
Using the HD more often lately, its smoother and more convenient, also the HD+ is setup playing lullaby tracks 24/7 so I just leave it be.
Just moved and between jobs and school, so maybe we'll see some lollipop love for this old gem of a tablet.
And yes mint 17 really improved cinnamon monumentally. Its been amazing so far.

Might have been better off trying to build off cm12 staging branch, not sure though, throwing errors about everything. I'll diff some things tomorrow possibly, see if I can at least get a nook build to finish, even if it won't boot.
No reason to anticipate a successful build though, it was looking pretty bad lol.

Congratulations! Must be hard the dad's life
By the way, I tried the new slimkat. Head there, I think that there are some archives that the guy uploaded that might prove resourceful (I think I saw some "drivers" "OMAP" folders inside these archives. Also, the rom has a polished look, and I think we can infer that optimizations and updates to the graphic drivers are there). Dunno, certainly worth a try
Going to look into a few places I was directed to for some useful commits. Also digging through omapzoom I saw some things that could be useful to us. Going to have some coffee and do some reading about it now

Remix 2.0: staggering video playback, game freezes

Hi, ever since I installed remix 2.0 on my remix ultra I have been suffering with a staggering video playback. Every few second the image freezes for a fraction, sound stops, and then continues again.
Something similar happens when playing games, plinder pirates, starwars commmander, and others I play, the screen freezes, becomes unresponsive, and then continues.
Is anybody else experiencing this? Is there a known problem causing this?

I had it ever since I installed it, the 303, the one before that, and before that and just tested the 305, it still does it but less frequently.
Had that issue myself. Wiped the device back to 1.5 (there's a link somewhere on this forum) and updated with each iteration. Device seemed a lot more glitch/judder free when I checked it on 305. Haven't had time to see if its still judderfree all week though.
Bloody annoying when it happens though, isn't it? Gotta wonder about the QA testing process.

Bloody annoying when it happens though, isn't it? Gotta wonder about the QA testing process.

Yes, I have been updating ever since april, hopong it would go away, but after each update, Im considering to go back to 1.5. Even when simply working in google keep it judders.
u needto fill out the form in my sig explaining ur issue. pics and video will help the teäm pin-point ur issues.
i have a related but not identical problem. often i have to force-shutdown the tablet. once a day on a good day. it's usually when using the youtube app, so maybe it's their fault. but it also happens when loading images in sync pro (a reddit client.)
usually it stops responding and parts of the screen black out or flicker. sometimes it goes to the lock screen by itself, but when i unlock it again it's still not responding to touches. less often it just reboots itself. most of the time i have to hold down the power button to shut down, then restart.
i've installed a log cat app, but of course once the machine stops responding to touches it's too late. can't get a screen capture either, for obvious reasons. maybe i should try taking a video with my phone camera.... that's an idea.
in the logs i get a lot of open GL memory errors, actually a lot of errors of all kinds, but i think it's a memory problem related to open GL. but i don't know enough about graphics to really say.
i think i will avoid NVDIA in the future. i really love the jide build quality -- the ultra tablet is the nicest looking and feeling tablet i've ever had, and i've had a few. and i love the aesthetic polish of remix OS, but i never had so many lockups like this on stock android or custom ROMs, or on rockchip and other processors -- and if i did there were usually already discussions on XDA and people working on it. i feel a little hopeless about this situation because i know jide has limited resources and this is not where their focus is.
no nvidia in ultra tab pro, so yeah!!!!! :highfive:

that's nice to hear, but having just spent over $300 USD on this one, it'll be a long time before i can replace it! i would have waited for the new model if i'd known it was coming. ((

Phab 2 (not pro/plus) root reports (none yet)

just got my Phab 2 from lenovo today. trying various methods and will report if anything works.
kingoroot - no
Well just made it through my first day of using the phab 2.
Some good, some bad.
Battery life is not what I expected. 100% to 50% from 10am to 8pm. Moderate usage, Waze navigation for about 10 minutes. I came from a Huawei mate 2, so my standards are pretty high.
Some glitches setting up Bluetooth with Microsoft sync. Would not reconnect after initial setup without turning car off. Although, I will note that sync has had its own issues.
No root means no app settings, everything is too big.
The stock launcher is outrageously boring and not customizable. I could not find any real settings to adjust icon size, or even to change icons.
Now for the good:
Overall Android build is very stable and quick, no hangups with many apps running.
Display is very crisp for being a low-end model, and includes settings to adjust tone and color intensity.
Very little bloatware.
Camera is actually pretty good. Not perfect, but ok for 200$.
Plenty of good comments about 6.0, as I came from 4.3, but I'll spare the entire Android review.
But, this is what makes me never want to buy a Lenovo phone again. I called lenovo to get some basic specs on this phone that were not verified online. I went through 10 minutes of automated dialog and 5 different phone numbers. No one knew who to talk to about this phone. They're so focused on the big customers that they forgot to provide any support for what may be their biggest seller? On top of that, the guy I finally got in contact with at technical support was baffled that I would call about something other than a desktop or laptop, and did not have the information about this device on hand. This isn't a problem, as I got what I needed, but it almost seemed like no one was aware that this device was even available yet. Nothing in their support site references it, no real technical detail available, etc.
Anyways, I digress. There aren't many other 6.4inch phones available, so I can't complain too much. Overall, Im enjoying the experience. Plus, it gets attention.
Where did you get this... I've been looking to get one but haven't found a source...I'm assuming you're saying battery life is weaker than on the HAM2? Thanks again

Directly from lenovo. Yes, but the ham2 is pretty much the top tier in terms of battery life.
After a few days with it, I can go all day with Bluetooth Pandora, 2+hours straight of screen on time, 30 mins of Waze and have 40% left. I'd say it's doing pretty good for a standard phone. A few issues I've had are, the stock alarm app notification gets stuck and cannot be dismissed on occasion. A restart fixes this. Bluetooth AND Microsoft Sync have to be reset when a failed connection happens (this also occurred on my ham2, but only once every 2 months. This is once a day.) There are always 2 network icons in the notification bar for some reason.
On the up side, the camera has proven to be excellent in standard lighting. Pictures take a while to 'click.'
Touch response is very clean, will say I'm impressed with either the phones accuracy or androids ability to detect where a touch was meant.
My biggest pet peeve is also one of my favorite features. The navigation buttons are so dim that you can't see them in the daytime, but they're also so close together for such a large phone. But, this gives you plenty of room to grasp the phone without exiting an app by mistake, or bringing up a menu midst message.
Anyhow, I'll gladly answer any questions anyone has.
Thanks for the info... Lenovo doesn't have a place to order it yet for the U.S., at least that I can find.
Here ya go:

I'm expecting mine today/Monday. Can't wait to get back into a proper-sized large phone. I've missed them since I sold my Sony Z Ultras...
Yeah I saw them on sale now, thanks. Can someone who has one please post a full Antutu benchmark score with 3D? The reports I've seen on the MTK8735 suggest a benchmark of around 31000, which isn't terribly impressive, but I'd like to see it on this device specifically. Thanks!

Any luck with rooting your phab2? I cannot find any method.
Is there any method to root lenovo phab 2?
How are the AR features? Any of them useful?
this version does not have AR features. You're looking for the Plus/Pro or w/e.
We're going to need to get a read back of the ROM from SP Flash tool to get root I think. What we really need is a TWRP build. I've tried quite a few variations for our chipset but haven't found one that even remotely boots yet.
hopefully we some others engage. i've got stuff I need to do with this phone, a few of which require root access of some kind.

I hope you find a way to root phab 2. Why would they lock down the fastboot? Isn't the android open source? Slowly becoming like iOS.
fast boot isn't locked down, nor is the boot loader (once you unlock it). The problem is none of the MTK tools that I have are working like they are supposed to.
I've started a DEV thread with the stock images attached. Perhaps someone else will have better luck

My device is from Philippines. I unlocked the bootloader, but from recovery I cannot access bootloader. Device would not let me choose bootloader even though has the option, and from fastboot reboot, the device would not reboot.
the boot loader IS fast boot. Lenovo devices are notorious for allowing you one fast boot command per boot into the loader.

what do you mean by one fast boot command per boot into the loader?
You can only issue a single fastboot command before having to reboot back into the boot loader to issue another.

SNAPPATCH XZ Premium - Device specific Feedback, Discussion, Troubleshooting

This is the official Feedback/Troubleshooting Thread for the Xperia XZ Premium. Feel free to discuss about the Patch, and to ask for Help if You face Problems or Bugs on Your Device. Stay friendly, be respectful and keep the XDA Rules in Mind!

Not a bug or anything, just letting people know that the first boot will take a while. Don't worry if it sits at the pixel boot animation for longer than a few minutes.
hello, it's for an opinion, I'm with Carbon ROm and SNAPPATCH, I have a concern:
* 1) with the autofocus of Open Camera .... autofocus has trouble with close subjects, I tried all focus modes but it's still the same, typed 15 times its screen to have a correct focus, my photos always come out with just a little blurry (and with luck no ...)
2) when taking the picture, the clarity of the screen is still there but to view the picture the intensity of the screen drops a little bit and does not give the effect of having taken the same picture, it's normal ?
So, thank you for a nice answer and good work on SNAPPATCH

Thanks for You constructive Post! There are a lot of Configs and i'm not even aware of what the best Values would be. Means a lot of testing and finetuning for the next Time. At all is it already a good upgrade but i can confirm that there is still a lot to do and to figure out how what works and which Configs are the best. I'm also looking around to get HDR Video Recording and i already made some Steps in the right Direction like it seem. I'll keep You informed on the Main Thread and the Changelogs when something changes or improves! Hope You can live for now with the Camera...

When trying to install Substratum, its getting half way done building the overlays, seems stuck. Any ideas?
BTW Im hitting the 8.1 and build & enable
Also what a good app to use to change those kernel numbers
Tested it: performance is much slower than stock. Geekbench shows 60% less performance.
Wifi is stronger.
No X-reality.
Safe charging doesn't exist.
Camera is very good, but the focus is off, cannot take pictures of nearby objects.
Back to stock for me

You don't even tried the Real World Performance such as Task switching or Gaming Performance? X-Reality? Sounds not like testing for Me...
And what is Safe Charging? It does Quick Charge (3.0) as Safe as Possible. Otherwise would it just start heat up or totally stops the charging since there is a Controller for such Things.... Besides that seems the Device to stay a lot Cooler while Charging (Booted in Android).
Don't get Me wrong. But Posts like this are the Stone on the Development Grave here. It just tells People that something is sh**, and they don't even think about to try it out. Half of the Posts i see on the Xperia Forums are non Sense, complaining, or feature request. That's isn't helpful to anyone and just keeps Devs from joining the Development here. See the TWRP Thread from Myself5 or the Kernel Thread from AndroPlus (Both long Time Contributers). It's a wonder that Myself5 is still providing his Carbon Builds on the Forums....
To be honest, besides the ROM from Myself5 and My Patch is there nothing great to find for the XZ Premium. If You can't believe that go back to Nougat or use this trashy ROM from Turbo which contains non working "Tweaks" and seems to be 90% based on Superrs Kitchen without additional Optimizations (My 5 Years old Brother can do that). Just removed some Content and Copy - pasted a Kernel with the DRM Fix. It's sad...
And before i start to talk more about the Problems here am i out for now. New Patch is up and i'm looking forward to more Enhancements which You will NEVER get on Stock!

Thanks for You nice Words Mate! I really take My at off to You for Your calmness! I'm 24 now and around 6 Years posting on XDA. I still can't accept that XDA has changed over the Years, and i think that's My Problem. It's not the Users Fault, XDA just mutated to another Place and no one can change that except for the Owners of this Site. And i don't see that coming. XDA is still under Construction since Years (DEV DB, Thread Features, Site Designs, Post Editing), and there is no End...
I looked often around for other Places to share My Work, but looks like i have to live with that here... At least do i know that here are still some Friendly Devs and Users, and that's what keeps Me here at the End. So Thanks again for Your Post! And keep You also up Your ROMs! It would be really Silent in our Forums without You...

After days of using, here's my simple feedback.
(G8142,lastest official CarbomROM)
1.Battery life is as good as,if not better than that of stock.
2.When slipping the screen,it lags.(compared to stock)
But i believe it is the rom to be blame.
3.Actually game performance is not good, for example,Fate/Grand Order and HearthStone, the animation of which lags.
4.The Pixel-like UI is cool! i love it.
keep developing, and i will stay on AOSP

Thanks for Your Feedback!
I can't tell if the Patch is causing it or not, but it runs just well on My Axon 7 using AOSP Extended. Same for Gaming or Multitasking. Graphic intensive Games are running more fluid and with less heat, and the App switching is much faster. But i see the Lags all few Seconds on the XZP. Are You also using the Carbon ROM?
Think i will try out pure AOSP after some sleeping...
And yes, i will continue the Development! There is much left to do, and i think a own AOSP OS from Me including many of the Patch Features will also come in the next Time (AOSP Project for Xperia Devices). At least at this Point should be all Lags be part of the past...
Hope to see You around again! BR
Try change g google play services and the lag will go.

hey, i have tried the latest AOSP by SonyAOSP team, and now i am on it.
It is smoother than stock, without any lag.
however i could not boot into recovery, which makes me unable to flash the latest Snappatch.
i think we are getting closer to it...

Great to hear so far, but what's the Problem with Your Recovery? Mine works fine here...
Have You tried flashing the last One from TWRP.me with Fastboot? The Patch should not affect it in any way. So it's a really strange Issue... ?

Yes indeed, with yesterday compiled Sony AOSP TWRP is broken.
With the whole source from the end of March all was fine. But I got weird errors with this patch which rendered the phone unusable at all.
Sadly I have no clue how to debug a recovery. TWRP only worked before first boot.
