okay. since Android got it self a forum, i thougt we need a Ubuntu thread. I have no idea if this post belong here, but i belive it needs to be somewhere. I love to have a full Ubuntu running with WiFi at least. The Andriod and Ubuntu thread is overwhelmd with Andriod dev so here i go. If the Ubuntu developers for HD2 want to setup a thread of there own i would love it
Also read the first sticky Linux post for current info and files . Im not a developer just a user hoping for further development on Ubuntu, and i hope im not alone out there
My story so far:
I have used Ubunto now for a while with a USB hub with a mouse, keyboard, soundcard and external power. So far i found Ubunto to be a bit unstable. Feels like its easy to make it drop out. I have ended up with no startmeny and no computer icons, leaving me with just desktop pic and i have to press power/hangupp button to shut it down.
Also playing music in included music player is a bit shaky, sometime i dont get audio and need to change a couple of tracks to get it to play again.
BTW anybody have a password problem? If i want to change time as a example,i need to type a password and its not accepting "ubuntu"?
Also, anybody have managed to get landscape somehow? Would also be nice to get WiFi up and running, so if a dev has any ideas on possible updates on progress would be nice. I have no mobile usb dongle so i havent been able to try that.
So how your experience so far? Type away and lets at least share what we know.

I would definitely be interested in running Ubuntu on my HD2 - it is the OS of choice for my desktop. Is there any bluetooth support at present? I have a BT keyboard / mousepad combo and that would make it very useable for me.
ok but if i don't have a keyboard for my phone and i want to use ubuntu .. i reallt can't use it ? is there any virtual keyboard ..?
Bluetooth and WiFi is currently not working, also no sound.
BUT there is built in usb support. I went to rhe cheepest electronic store and bougt a USB HUB that has its own power adaptor, also som USB cables and adaptors.
A regular pc keyboard, mouse, mobile internet dongle etc. Everything being USB can be used. And i also found in a drawer of mine a usb stick soundcard. So basicly as it is now, all works with some cheep usb tec, but as stated, i have no mobile internet so dont know if it works.I did get to borrow a dongle for like 5min and it found the internet supplyer etc so should work i guess.
Now i realise for some that they might go banana because they cant use Ubuntu without USB gadgets. But thats one reason to try to get the developers attention. If you get to connect some usb stuff(mouse being the least, no k-board if you want to just try it out, i belive you will get hooked on the idea and trying out stuff of your own. I find it fun connecting all old USB stuff i have lying around.
Next step is to add my 1TB usb drive, maybe get to watch some movies.
So, its Ubunto is its birth at least crawling. But with the full attention on Andriod it seems Ubuntu is getting forgotten, hence this thread, so they notice us, and while we wait, try it and report here in lack of space, only wish this could be a sticky or a seperat dev Ubuntu thread because, were drowning in the Android happiness going on.
I will keep testing its 0,1 beta further to se what makes it tick. But im no developer, just a concernd fan, but im having fun, so i report my findings, fun to be in the edge, or birth of something so comon, bring out the dea...ops, i mean bring out your USB gadgets and play, who knows, you might have fun as i.
..oh, sorry for missing one reply here. Found no virtual keyboard so far, this password thing is my biggest concern atm, its like admin rights i need.
Some touch screen implementation is in there, so you can use your fingers to move around and dubble tapp opens SOME stuff and menys. Not very presise but it works if your patient.
Heres a list of USB gadgets im using atm.
HUB: Plexgear, 4 usb ports + 1 data port (its where you plugin you HD2) + power adaptor (Incl in the package)
Mouse: A old Microsoft 2.0 wired mouse and a reaaally sheep wirless mouse, just tried if wireless mouse would work, and i can confirm it does.
Keyboard: A mini keyboard named Zippy with built in blue lights, got to type in style =)
Sound: A no name usb stick not much larger then the usb reciver for a wirless mouse. All it says on the stick is " USB Audio Controller. I belive i heard somthing they going for the amout of 17$ or somthing.
Harddrive: Tryed my 1TB drive, maybe its to large to get recognized or something, but i cant find it atm.
BTW Anybody have a small USB HD lying around they could test?

'HD2 Android Development' naming is erroneous for that reason. I vote we rename the forum Linux and Android development.
-Most elementary progress is seated in the kernel - which has nothing to do with android in the first place. The kernel is Linux and not android.
-Android is not the only userland usable. As seen here there is ubuntu and other stuff.

Hmm, thats bad. I read the read me file and it booted up nicly. Are you using stock rom or somthing? What happent for you?
What i did was basicly just extract the folder "Ubuntu and copied it to storage card so the Ubuntu folder was in the root of the SD. First try i had no hub or mouse or anything connected just to se if it worked.
Im using latest NRG rom from 24th, cookie Dinik version with 2.12.50 radio, i have 575MB activated.

i can't wait to use it, the kernel its almost done anyway (android), also wouldn't it be possible to swap between the 2 of them? (android and linux) i know you can with a piece of software change between gnome and kde or other in ubuntu, i already used it.

I've been using Ubuntu linux as the only OS on my laptop I use for everything (school, work, personal stuff) for about a year now. I absolutely love it, and if it weren't for games and some work stuff, I would also switch to Ubuntu with my desktop. One thing that did give me a lot of headaches on my laptop was my phone though: I've had lots of trouble with the combination of my HD2 and ubuntu/linux (obviously, since M$ does not support linux at all).
But still, I don't really feel the need to have ubuntu on my phone. I'm happy with android because that is supported well by my ubuntu laptop, but I don't see how an OS that has been made for screens of 7" or bigger (taking into account the netbook edition, otherwise I'd say 12") and input by mouse/keyboard can be really useful on a 4" mobile phone.
If you want a debian-based distro that is useful on your phone I'd look at Maemo/Meego: these distro's are more open and desktop-like than android but have been made for usage on a phone (touch)screen. I just have no idea how much work it would be to port one of these OSes.
I respect that people want to tinker around with ubuntu and try to get it to work, but personally I think it is best to have as many as possible developers working on Android itself rather than not-so-useful side projects...

to port ubuntu or any other distro to a mobile all you need is the kernel, for htc hd2 its almost ready, on top of the kernel you can put whichever linux u want, maemo android linux whatever u want.
I know that, I was talking about the portability of the OS itself... the software on the OS has to communicate with the right drivers and stuff. Since android runs on HTC devices with similar software, a lot of stuff can be copied. Maemo normally runs on a Nokia device, Ubuntu is mainly developed for x86/x64 hardware, that's why I think they're more of a job to port.
yeah should be quite a challenge but i believe that is what drives this guys, anyway ubuntu is already running on hd2 my concerns are actually the distro to be used that makes it usable, i mean if i have to carry a keyboard and mouse to make it work its not very practical. i rather have a choice to use it or not, regarding the os communicating with the drivers it should be quite straight forward since ubuntu is pretty much plug and play at the moment, it will detect your hardware (drivers).
Hey all! Not sure if this is the right place, but I didn't see anything specific for Nexus 6 and Nethunter. All my research so far shows that everybody who's tried hunter is very pro, but uh.. nobody seems to be talking any smack about it. No security flaws, no warnings about root, and even to some degree no real description of it's compatibility forward.
Does anyone have a list of pros and cons about Nethunter?
Maybe explain a bit about what this is? I haven't heard of it so I'm not sure if what I looked up on the intent is what you are talking about.
It's a pentesting ROM made for a few android devices (Nexus 6 now supported). Wifi hacking tools and the like preloaded and support built into the system rom and kernel for these kinds of tools. It looks pretty cool I'll have to check it out myself (on multi rom maybe). One problem I do see with it is you do need to use an external USB wifi adapter (via usb otg adapter), as the internal wifi apparently doesn't support monitor mode or packet injection which are required for many of the tools. It may be possible to add that later but given that those binaries are usually closed source (Qualcom) I'm doubting it. Still looks very cool.

This isn't entirely true. It is NOT a ROM at all. It's more of a "package" type of thing. Think of it this way, you go flash CM and then have to flash Gapps after. It's the same thing for NetHunter. You flash whatever AOSP ROM you want then flash the NetHunter zip file. It will install busybox, terminal emulator, a keyboard, and a few other things along with an app named NetHunter home. It's pretty much an app to launch NetHunter tools/features/services. I'm currently running Google's factory image of Android 5.1 and have NetHunter installed.

Nexus 6 Nethunter
Hey, so ive been playing arround with nethunter for acouple months now and ive been loving every moment. I think ive had it since this post came out. I have always wanted a little power house of a device that can do more than just search the internet, call and text people , and take pictures. From an easy start flashing the ROM to learning alot about Kali I must say its about time something like this came along.
For con's it doesnt come with RFCOMM support, ive been having trouble with bluetooth dongles even after days of researching the only conclusion is you will have to recompile the kernel to enable Rfcomm. Secondly also with NFC there is no mifare support, wasnt going too deep into this one, i figured it would be the same answer as Rfcomm. Thirdly some tools listed on the Kali website cannot be loaded and installed onto the Nexus like Burp Suit. There is no GTK support for GUI tools, meaning the tools you use can only be used in a terminal interface, unless you use a HTML interface and set the GUI's up somehow using a localhost. Lastly, the internal devices like WIFI bluetooth and NFC card can not be used for monitoring or injection. You must have a separate dongle. However you can change your wlan0 mac with macchanger and i believe you can clone non mifare chipsets with the built in nfc card. (Old nfc devices)
For the pro's, it is mobile with 2.6 gHz quadcore snapdragon 805 and 3Gb of ram, usual usage is 20-30% Ram keeping it clean with AllinOne Toolbox otherwise with alot running you'll use more ram. Battery watching youtube with brightness about 33% lasts 8 hrs or so but when it comes to using dictionaries for password cracking it uses 100% of your CPU so battery consumption is much greater. . . just keep it plugged in or save the files for your pc to crack. Other than that theres alot of preloaded tools and an app menu which includes HID attacks and also its own menu with SET. It also comes with acouple other apps like droid drive which you can load up any O/S from your Nexus via usb to any computer. And i also believe that it does not touch the hard drive on the pc.
So far using wifite it can crack any wep key in under 10 min WPA key in about 2 hrs. Max was about 2000 keys/sec and on average 1100 keys/sec. Using a randomly selected word from the Rockyou.txt file it took over 2.5 million keys to find it... but it was successful. You can download tools like cupp.py or crunch to customize lists to your liking. Also i havent tried it yet but reaver for wps takes roughly 4-10 hours. Any tools that use a GUI cannot be displayed properly without configuring the files your self. For say the tool driftnet it will not display the images gathered... rather you will have to save them into a file and view them separately from that file.
As far as security nmap cannot discover any open ports from a fresh install of nethunter on my home network. But Nethunter can discover many open ports on my old DV6. If uou want to stay anonymous you can use tor app.
In all if you really want a fun, powerful, mobile pentesting device this is it.
Does it support all of SET? The web server, cloning existing sites and infecting them, the email sending and so on?
I'm very interested in this rom but there's still one question for me left: if I flash it with TWRP is forced encryption on aigan?

What WiFi dongle are you using... I've been lurking around the Kali website for a couple years. Tried nethunter when it first dropped for the nexus 6. Looking to learn it a little better and give it a try. Maybe we can pm?

hey you can pm me at [email protected] its easier. Sorry i havent been on here in a while just got my self a raspberry pi 2 and was playing arround with that for a bit. Its all the same stuff as kali but with a few less hardware capabilities like i have listed. It is pretty powerful tho considering the physical size of the device. Many generic wifi dongles do work just check the chipset on google and make sure it is one that is listed on the kali website.. usualy atheros brodcomm ralink and some others generaly work well. or you can juat plug it right in at the store and do a quick airmon-ng start wlan1 to see if it works. The linksys im using is older and only supports g speeds. so its good for just acouple things.. nothing speedy. Its a good close range mission dongle. I herd athros ones have good rep tho for range and preformance. here is my dongle info if your wondering.

Internal Wifi Card Support on Nexus 6p?
So I'm very new to pentesting and am trying to learn so please bear with me. I was actually doing some research on putting kali on my nexus 6p (to avoid carrying around a netbook) hopefully on a partition (which I'm not entirely sure how to do, but will perservere until I'm told it cant be done) to try to maintain the normal function of my phone on stock android, and boot into kali when needed.
I came across this thread and discovered what NetHunter was. Through my earlier research, I determined that the Nexus 6p's onboard card is a broadcom bcm4358 which supports monitoring and (according to aircrack-ng's compatibility chart) packet injection after a driver patch.
My question then is this: would it be possible to use this device with either kali linux or nethunter without an external (and not so stealthy) wifi card?
If I have some missing piece of info or some of what I have is incorrect, please help me find the correct information to continue my reasearch.
i have a fair amount of independent troubleshooting? and through a year and a half of nexus 5 to the 2 nexus 6 i have. i written anything worth of measurable difference between one set of "build" compatibility and also meta building on top of ROMs. one rule of thumb i need to stress is the systemless root that is now commonly standardized in most ROMS will need to be pulled out. also, consistent busybox throughout the system. (new/old shouldnt really coexist). i have found Velcro to a case and the adapter you plan on using helps keep it all organized (needless to say i buy a new case when a buy a new wifi dongle and change the case)

if aircrack has it on a supported list, there will still be an amount of time where the build could exploit it without your own development?
at the moment....yes.an adapter would be required. nexus 5 is internally supported(as far as i have dug up)...a good example of why we need an external adapter(overall) is https://store.pwnieexpress.com/product/pwn-phone2014b/
i have been using the nexus 6 with the tp link 822n with considerable compatibility. it was $20 at Frys. very easy to pick up OTC without hunting something down online

i also have a built image of kali across a laptop. it has a detrimental amount of exploitation abilities. i would prefer not to explore this too far because each build will require a different customized image and "help" is going to cause confusion unless i had the SAME laptop. my laptop is mainly for defensive environments. and my devices are for setting up or info gathering to prepare for my laptops secure (no detection) measures.

I don't use it frequently but I love having Nethunter on my device. I use an Alfa AWUS036NEH adapter with an otg adapter and it works flawlessly. My phone actually cracks wireless networks faster than my laptop. If you take the time to learn about penetration testing, the possibilities are endless! I used to own a WiFi Pineapple Nano but sold it because I found that I could do everything with Nethunter. The Pineapple has a great GUI and it's great if you want to to do things without actually learning anything. I actually just ordered a book on Metasploit, as I'm really eager to master the framework. I think it's an extremely powerful tool but I don't know too much about it yet.

goggling the adaptors model and version will turn up with its chip-set. it would be best to form the adapter to the device and not the device to the adaptor......there are plenty of chip-sets supported. going out of ones way to rebuild a kernel: warrants specific needs.

I learned after one time of asking a fry's employee, that there are specific questions that might not throw up red flags in your mind as to a specific hardware or firmware requirements...but it will be too specific for a "floor guy" to remedy. they will do the right thing by getting a higher-up to assist you with your questions. long story short.....i found the host controller i was looking for and it ran about $250.i believe that so many red flags went up somewhere along the line. that several of the low end host controllers replaced the high end ones(on the shelf)with the specific adaptor i was looking for. i returned a few weeks later with a friend so he could get one (to make sure it was the SAME one i had)...it was gone and no one really wanted to answer the questions for us. i thought to myself, "dont go the hardware store and ask for a duplicate of a bump-key"
I use an Alfa AWUS036NEH adapter with a $6 otg adapter and it works flawlessly. Imo, that's the best adapter to use with Kali!
i have used nethunter allot and i can say it runs ok, if your a pen tester it has allot of tools for you. However battery life is not great and speed is slow. i would say its comparable to stock rom maybe a tad slower.
can do everything i even captured a wpa2 wifi handshake with wifite.

Has anyone had any experience with nethunter on the Nexus 6 running 7.1.1? I like the features of Nougat and don't want to have to give up the security patches or features by going back to 6.0.1 to get full nethunter support. Yes, indeedy.
It took me more than a few frustrated attempts, but it's working well now.
Although it has a couple idiosyncrasies, the workarounds are quite straightforward. No need to manually install the payloads, or anything like that.
If you're still interested in giving it a go, I would be happy to list out the steps. :good:

I will want to end up deleting the recovery... Delete the android os if included and install 8.1 with bing clean, or eventually purchase a 8.1/10 pro for business use.

you can install drivers? where did you source them from?

I look into it as a handheld portable PC.
UEFI is what most Windows Tablet is using.
Installation, operation and use is exactly as you would expect it as with other Windows PCs, limited to its own hardware, and/or the OS you put on it. Search Ubuntu/Linux on chinese tablets.
You should do your assignments more before delving into this.
On a personal level, I can see myself selling my i3 15.6" laptop (I only retro game, and used mainly for Java, Visual Studios and non-hardware heavy) and my Voyo A1 Mini tablet, to get a good 2-in-1 PC. I need/want a more compact portable PC. And same as you, I've got a VERY limited budget.
To share to you my current requirements (deal-breakers if not met), and must not be lower/missing, to completely replace the said above PCs:
1. 64GB internal capacity (eMMC 5.0, better yet SSD) (higher capacity will be more than welcome)
2. HDMI output
3. Dock-in Keyboard supported (hate bluetooth keyboards)
4. At least 1 FULL USB slot (hoping a USB C tablet will be released soon)
5. A dedicated power input socket
6. Have decided to wait for Cherry Trail CPUs (hoping to be released end of September to holiday season)
7. Decent capacity for battery
8. 2GB Ram for an x86 OS (4GB on x64 OS) (more is more than welcome)
Optional:
Keyboard dock to have output sockets too (usb), built-in battery. similar to Asus T100. Hopefully newer tablets will have full x64 OSes.
Still.. to each their own, on how they'll be using the device/s.

This argument has been discussed a couple times in this forum, but i wanted to address it once more since i believe it's one of the most interesting.
So, i am looking to install natively Windows 10 (desktop version, not mobile) and Android in dualboot on the ZF2.
In theory, as specified many times by other users, is possible. Since the soc of the ZF2 is Intel x86/64.
Let's proceed with order.
1) The main issue, is to find out how to run the windows installer, completely outside the Android environment. Now i know Asus released an official Bootloader for the ZF2, but we have to figure out if it's loaded outside of the Android environment or not. If it is, that would be a great kickstart.
2) The drivers then would be another issue, even though, the Z3580 is an Atom and should share a lot of with its bigger brothers for tablets that already run Windows 10.
3) FIgure out how to dualboot it. Windows 10 Desktop version is not currently equipped with dialing functions and even though there are some third party software, it would not be very comfortable to use as main OS on such a small screen. So Android is a must here.
4) Last but not least, figure out a way (not wirelessly, just because it does not work very well) to cast the screen of the Windows 10 Asus ZEnfone2, to a larger monitor.
I own a Lumia 950 and as many of you know, it comes with the Continuum feature. It is a pretty interesting function even though in the current state is very limited. (can run only UWPs and nothing more, with limited functionalities).
For those of you guys wondering if it's even possible to solve the problem n.1 i can tell you it definitely is. A couple years ago, Elephone was working on a Dual Boot Phone, called vowney Pro with the exact same soc of the ZF2, capable of running both Windows 10 (desktop, even though some blogs mistakenly reported windows 10 mobile. It was the desktop version, i spoke with the company) and Android.
That project never came to life, the company would not share with me the reason why.
Just think about how cool would be to have a 2 in 1 device capable of running full Windows 10 natively. It would really be the first of its kind and turn out to be super useful in a lot of situations.
Any of you ever tried ?

Yes i know of the post and read through all of it, even though there are a couple of persons that asked for the native installation, that post is focused mainly on the installation through KVM, or any other Virtual Machine solution.

This has been done and deemed not worth the time and effort.
1. No drivers for Mali.
3. Win OS has no phone support until late 2017.
If you have the technical skills please do try yourself, but don't expect others to do the work.
I recommend waiting until fall 2017 when x86 emulation on Snapdragon launches. A plethora of new handsets with desktop Win OS and phone support will be launched. And this project will be redundant.

I didn't know that people tried here. I tried searching in the whole forum but sadly i didn't find anything.
Yes i know that Windows on Arm will launch sometime this year, but i don't think this will be redundant. Windows on Arm will let you have a windows handset capable of running x86 apps. No Android.
This on the other hand would let you enjoy both worlds, and on top of that, is the ability to dual boot two different operating systems on a smartphone that intrigues me (not linux based ofc)
I don't expect the others to do it for me, i am stuck sadly on the first issue with having a bootloader capable of booting an OTG image of Windows.
But if anyone found a way to do that and got stuck on the next step, i would be more than happy to try myself

@steinwayer Windows on ARM will never ever be the same as on X86. Apps are just not compatible. It is a shame that the surface phone ditched the Intel Atom CPU.

I will skip 1 till the last since this is the main issue and start off with 2
2 The drivers are not an issue YET. The intel HD series GPU's have used the specific model of powerVR GPU that is in use so it is a problem that can be fixed. Most of the rest of the drivers are not directly a problem as the first problem is to get windows running natively.
3 Dualboot. In first place this is not neccisary, however this is possible but will require the work from 1 listed bellow first. Let me say from the start that you can forget hotswitching to android... That will be a full reboot and I dont know about your zenfone 2 but mine takes a while to boot...
4 As long as the wifi is running lots of options there...
Now the culprit 1
You can not run the windows installer in the current bootloader, however happy news for you this specific CPU supports UEFI. For this purpose I was reverse engineering the bootloader on my pc and altering the UEFI of that of a tabled with a similair CPU of the same series. However my screen got broken, so I lost motivation, had it repaired after which half my phone died again (there is another topic floating around where I tried to flash the ori bootloaders as I thought that may had something to do with the issues of my phone dieing) so I bought a lumia 950 aswell, and now I just have it back again.
This project is stalled. One of the reasons is stated here, the other one is that I don't have the knowledge to continue right now. Reading in and learning takes a lot of time and I don't have time at the moment and as said before I am for the moment not very happy with the amount of times the zenfone just without damage just died on me...
I am happy to share all I have found on the internet to someone who knows how to do it, but if you need to learn in as I do this will take years...
Thinking about you MIGHT have a shot just flashing one of the tablets UEFI bioses, but this very well may be a one shot chance after which a perma brick can occur...

Even though there is no single definitive proof that they ditched Intel for the Surface Phone project, the video I shared seems to be a pretty clear statement eheh, and yes, i totally agree with you, it will be a shame.
Thank you so much for the infos you gave me! That's super helpful! I suspected the stock bootloader would have not been capable of doing that, so i was looking (like i guess you did long before me) for answers about the chances of flashing UEFI on it.
Dualboot, at least for the beginning would be necessary, if used as the primary phone, Android would be needed for all phone-related tasks.
I will try to see if i manage to flash UEFI on the ZF2. After that it should be a a lot simpler! And it would open a WHOLE NEW WORLD of possibilities with that phone
About the hotswitching, i know, it will be impossible. But the way i see it, the wait time for a full reboot would be worth it, especially in case after solving all the problems, we could manage also to solve the point 4

I don't seee why an x86 emulator for ARM Windows 10 seems so threatening.
Nobody ever said the x86 emulator is coming to phones. It's just Windows RT 10 with 3rd party Win32 app support. It's for larger devices like tablets and laptops.
From what I've seen, I think the Zenfone 2 (and 5) will be relevant for many years to come. Nobody is offering something that runs full Windows 10 on the phone's screen like the Zenfones with KVM. There is also no performance hit like an emulator.
If anything, MS MIGHT integrate it into W10M's Continuim but I doubt they will let you run Photoshop on the phone's screen.
There have been multiple devices in the past, and there are devices for sale now and there are devices that are in developent. Criteria below 6", pocketable and full X86.
XPphone, Eking m5 (also MI15), DOCOMO Fujitsu LOOX F-07c,
Non phone capable (or only via usb) Ockel Sirius, GPD WIN

Well i always thinking the EASIEST way to enable 3D acceleration with acceptable performance.The only software that could enable 3D acceleration and runs windows software on android is Crossover from codeweavers.It's wine commercial version which compatibility layer that enables you to run windows software on linux.Maybe you're very familiar it if you playing around with linux for some time.The only problem is the compatibility.its still in alpha stage and still doesn't run much software perfectly.Considering it's opensource,it has the source code available on their site.If we have developers that expert at modifying .apk and port the qemu kvm,we'll be able to solve that.We have qemu on android name limbo pc emulator and it always up to date recently which now based on qemu 2.9.0.The only matter is how we modified the apk to sync with limbo pc emulator so that it has 3D virtual gpu available.How the virtual gpu works,is translate OPENGLES into directX,though its limited to 9.0.Maybe little tweak can make it work on limbo.Hope the source code containts that Vgpu code.I am noob for porting apks,etc.But i know some basic about it.Hope you guys can make it works.Once we make it work,we'll be able to launch CStrike 1.6 on our amazing ZF2

Crossover has it's virtual GPU into it,which makes 3D acceleration working.it's use OpenGLES and translate it to directX.if we can implemented it on limbo pc emulator,we'll be able to enable hardware acceleration into windows guest

Well, its pretty much a one go try, no guaranties it works, and well who wants to donate his Zenfone 2 to try, when the odds of sucsess are less than 10%, chance of bricking it without recovery 90%. Get the bios from the Chuwi tablet and give it a try to flash it with the intel flash tool.
I was modifying that bios to increase the chances, but ran out of my expertise, lack time, and am using my zenfone as daily driver
I have a Zenfone 2 with the eMMC damaged, and thought about booting Android from the SD card (basically, using it like the eMMC which is damaged). I think replacing the BIOS could help me with booting from the SD, is this correct?

No, it's an x86_64 (64-bit) SoC. Any Intel Atom processor is x86 or x86_64

I have a DishTV s8100-zc, wich is the branded name of what I think is a msd7s75 board with a Mstar CPU.
What I want to do with it is to flash it with something that isn't the stock NZ firmware (locked to use freeview apps, which is now defunct), anything modular would do bsd running kodi for instance, but some flavour of android would be best. I know this board can run android TV because I've seen new devices with the same board being sold new with android on them (from alababa of course, so no useful information to be had there). It can be flashed via a rom file on a USB stick.
The first step here is to identify what the soc in this thing is - I know it's an Mstar, by after that I'm a bit stumped. Is there any way of finding out? Or is there a rom that works on all (or even most) Mstars I could try? I can't look directly at the chip because it has a heat-sink glued to it and I don't want to damage the chip trying to remove the sink.
Any thoughts would be apreciated - thanks!
