For those not, here is a little sum up.
I am one of the lucky ones to get my hand on an OPPO Find X5, thanks to OPPO and its OPPO Products Ambassadors program.
And it's the first time for me as I have never had any OPPO before. So first, no expectations, no biases; I will give a chance to the product. ColorOS, UX, build quality, everything will push me to adapt and indeed change the way I use my daily driver smartphone.
I received the black variant in its EU variant while I am in the USA. So, yep, you guess it right, no point for me to test it under USA networks. It will work under AT&T and T-Mobile, not fully compatible with all band frequencies, 5G, or even CA. But it works enough and is compatible with VoWiFi and VoLTE.

One design to rule them all… Find X3, X3 Pro, X5, X5 Pro. Indeed, the design is pretty close between 2021 and 2022 Flagship. Except for an evolution of the photographic block, you can tell it's a Find X.

The black color is a matte one. It seems not to retain fingerprints, is easy to clean, and the texture feel is excellent.
I'm used to big phones; obviously, this one feels light, small in my hand. It is well balanced, and buttons are easy to access with your fingers, responsive, clicky, and the power button got the OPPO Green color accentuation on its top. Corners are smooth and round, with no sharp angles, and the screen curves are not of the waterfall type, just enough with a bumper case. It might even be less curvy than the P6 Pro. However, I am a fan of flat screens and slim chassis. But I can go with this X5.
When I searched for differences between the X3 and the X5, I saw the bump and how OPPO integrated the photographic block on the X3 series. I will say I prefer the X5 bump, and it's classier. And OPPO also uses it to write down the "Powered by MariSilicon" on the back glass and Hasselblad partnership on the back cover.
The back cover is made with a frosting matte glass, if you ask. The slope is a 75°. OPPO stated it is the optimal curve for "illuminating (sic)" the OPPO Find X5 body in sunlight or shadow. Okay, maybe, I'll use the case you can find in the box anyway.
Performance
Snapdragon 888 baby. An end of 2020 announced flagship SoC made by Qualcomm.
Is it enough for 2022?
Sure, you just need to look around and see how many SD 870 products you have, brand new, in 2022. So, the 888 will give you what you need for daily use.
I'm getting old, so gaming on the phone… Arf, let's face it, I am not a COD, Genshin, whatever game. However, yes, editing videos, making music, this kind of stuff.
The Snapdragon 888 is working well. But if you're a fan of benchmark and think it's the Graal for smartphones, you will be disappointed. I don't know where I'm doing wrong, but I never was able to go over 745K under AnTuTu. I have other SD 888 smartphones that easily break the 820K scoring. And even my P6 Pro does better. And in every benchmark, the X5 is behind.
Obviously, you have different modes for the battery, for performance, and even a gaming control center. Everything was maxed out to get the best results possible.
Any CPU/GPU Governor inside ColorOS to prevent throttling? Allow the phone to run at its best for long session hours? ColorOS need to be finetuned to unleash SD 888 Power or even driver updated?
After more than one year on the market, I expect OEMs to be able to draw the powerful quintessence of this chipset… And so far, I don't think it is the case. There is room for improvement.
For the 6.55" 120Hz panel, I must say it's closed to the 144hz I used on my Smartphone for Snapdragon Insiders. I didn't feel any issue with it; it's responsive and no mistouch so far. The screen is a 10bit panel with a JNCD around 0.4 for color accuracy. You can usually tune it in the setting for your own convenience. Personally, I am not too fond of saturated colors, and I need to see precisely the same thing on the screen as I see in real life, especially for taking pictures.
After that, as always, it will depend on 3rd party dev apps to make their apps and games compatible with the 90 or 120fps capability of the X5.
However, the screen is not LPTO but just LPTS/Flexible (Low-Temperature PolySilicon). And yes, AMOLED not LCD.
So, no dynamic refresh rate from 1hz to 120Hz. And no 90Hz option, just 60 or 120Hz. Plus, if you settle your screen this way, I've not found any MEMC enhancement to match 120Hz with 24/25/30/60 or 90 fps to 120Hz refresh rate (and if I check, the Find X2 had one).
If you ask, the touch sampling is only 240Hz, a little bit low as now flagships have 360/480hz on board.
But it's Gorilla Victus for the protection of it.
Brightness is sufficient even for HDR. It's not 1500 nits peak but more around 900/1000 for an expected 500/800 day-to-day (if I compare with the ones I've and marketed for some brightness values)

Had it a day but not really had a lot of time to play with it that much. Have managed to get a Vivo account to unlock some of the restricted features (don't ask how as I don't want the guy who helped me swamped with requests - sorry).
Overall, and coming from an iPhone, I quite like it. Not a huge fan of Android overall but so bored with phones at the moment I couldn't resist something that actually bushed the boundaries a bit and wanted to innovate.
Couple of things that do annoy me (maybe just Android and not this phone though) - no real autofill for 1Password or Dashlane - the options are there but it doesn't work - think an issue with the fingerprint process.
The in screen fingerprint reader is OK, quite hit and miss. Had loads of misses with a screen protector on (factory one) but when took this off it was much better.
Sadly no NFC - does anyone know if I could use an Android Wear watch for payments if it has NFC but the phone doesn't ???
No split screen action - again option seems to be there but always says "app does not support this feature"
Overall phone seems snappy, screen is amazing, camera is good - need to spend some more time with it.
So far I've been able to install pretty much anything so no complaints there.
Quite like the look of the interface but then I am coming from the restrictions of iOS !!

Hey. Before considering this device; I was surfing on the Nex threads to see if BL unlocking and root is available etc. Seen your post and wanted to input, no idea if this option is available on your device. The one under Settings » Developer options(Might be in different menu) » Force activities to be resizable. Using this option to get split screen support for all apps on Miui and Aosp based roms. Hopefully you've got it there too.

My 2 cents (Black 256G):
Hardware : Good overall, 845, UFS, lots of RAM, nice 1080p screen that's quite readable under sunlight ( I think my S9+ is slightly better), good camera (although the selfies look like I had plastic surgery and loads of makeup in the default setting). Sound output is actually quite good with the DAC activated - I think its comparable to an old $150 Fiio external DAC that I had. Under screen finger print sensor is good. I think its about 80% for me. Signal strength is good, WiFi range is good (about 95% of the S9+ in terms of throughput). The in screen earpiece is OK in terms of loudness and clarity, but sometimes people voices sounded a bit funny. Its a shame that a top of the line model does not have NFC, wireless charge nor SD card support. It isn't waterproof but there is rubber seal on the SIM tray so I think water resistance would be reasonably good.
Software : Its .... well, it takes some time for me to adjust. I think you'll feel more at home if you had switched from an iPhone. (OK, I admit it, software is dreadful. It'll be better after you install your favorite launcher, change the navigation bars back to navigation keys, uninstall useless apps, etc) At least installing Google apps is easy. You can actually just add an Gmail account and it will install the necessary GAPPs.
Despite all these bad things I still love my Nex - just the selfie cam and under glass finger print scanner will make of for all its shortcomings..

Goodbye Vivo Nex S, have sold and moved on. exactly 2 years since january 2019 i had now.
Things i regret and think:
Shouldn't have removed the screen protector from back and front, back was broken because glass and replace before selling, and a tiny scratch in front screen that look like a scorpion xD.
Battery was at 3200mah of the 4000mah estimate according to an app i installed but good standby and screen time.
Had to disable alot of apps that vivo runs in background through adb.
Was hopping for root since the beginning for some kind of stereo speaker mod using the call speaker, only manage to get it working with only either one or the other producing sound.
Still very fast, played Genshin impact very nicely.
no issues whatsoever with the pop camera, even pressed down around 10 times in 2 years with finger to show friends that it work as a fail safe.
Still no full black dark mode, only grey.
Very good main camera, no complains for what was expected back then, the second camera barelly used with the depth sensor
Lack of L1 Certification for Netflix.
The Amoled screen is very good but if its very sunny i can't read anything.
Not going back to Vivo again due to lack of information and community for software, everything in china basically.

I am very excited to have received the OPPO Find X5 Pro in Ceramic White. My model has 256GB of storage and 12GB of RAM. I have been using this new phone for two full weeks now, as my primary device. This is my review of the OPPO Find X5 Pro.
Build Quality / DesignWhen unboxing your phone for the first time, you’ll instantly notice the bold new design choice which features sloped edges around the camera bump. It gives the phone a very fluid look, as if it’s water flowing down from the peak of the device, and runs off the edges. The back of the phone is made of a premium ceramic material which has a very high-end feel to it. This quality extends to the buttons, with very solid and clicky interactions.

The white model that I have has a lot of contrast between the lettering on the back, against the milk-like surface. I really like the way this phone looks and feels, overall.
Performance / GamingUnsurprisingly, this phone is very fast. Equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and paired with 12GB of RAM, this phone is pretty maxed out in terms of specs. ColorOS 12.1 is faster and more responsive than ever. Games and apps launch quickly while being able to make 3D graphics look amazing.
I ran a benchmark on my phone to hopefully give a better idea of how fast this phone really is.
One of my favorite games to play is PUBG, which also happens to be one of the most resource-intensive 3D games for Android. When I play on my OPPO Find X5 Pro, I'm able to run the game at the max settings, while maintaining a steady 120fps. This smooth gameplay looks fantastic on the 120hz display. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 does an impressive job of processing 3D graphics and rendering large open worlds.
Best ColorOS Features
ColorOS 12.1 ships as the default software on the OPPO Find X5 Pro. The included software has many features built-in that make customizing your phone fun and simple. One of the best ways to show off your personal style is with Always-On Display. You can create a custom pattern, text, and clock style to appear on your phone. My Always-On Display shows my three favorite bird emojis, a jellyfish photo that I took at the aquarium, and the time and date in the format that I choose.
Everyone values their privacy and security, which is why I really appreciate some of the features like App lock, Hide apps, Private Safe, and System cloner. Using the ColorOS privacy tools, you can even shut off your camera or microphone so that they cannot be used by any apps or services at all. Your privacy dashboard gives you a quick overview of all of the apps that are collecting data like camera, microphone, location, etc.
ColorOS is filled with great features that will enhance your use of your smartphone. Included apps like O Relax and Music Party are worth checking out as well.
Camera ReviewTo put the camera of the OPPO Find X5 Pro to the test, I took it to my local aquarium, where I could use it in a variety of different lighting situations. There are several key camera modes that I find myself using the most, which provide more flexibility with the way I edit and share my photos.
If I am shooting photos that I intend to edit on my computer, I use the RAW PLUS feature. This will let me capture RAW photos with tons of data. When I want to use the 2X camera or shoot with NIGHT mode, I’ll activate the 10-bit color feature instead. I can easily edit these photos with the ColorOS editing tools, while still preserving the color data of a photo. The last mode that I use frequently is the standard PHOTO mode with AI scene enhancements on. This is best for shots that I intend to post straight to social media, and don’t want to worry about edits or file size issues.
There are a lot of features to explore with this phone and different ways to take advantage of the powerful sensors in the front and rear cameras. Here is a full view of the camera specs of this phone.

ConclusionThe OPPO Find X5 Pro feels like a very polished device. The introduction of the 80W SuperVOOC charging definitely changes the way you use and charge your phone. The cameras are some of the best that you’ll find in any smartphone, and inspire you to take more photos using features that make the whole process simple and fun. The performance is fast enough that you’ll be able to use this phone for years to come and be perfectly happy with the speed at which it runs apps and games.

For the past couple of weeks, my SIM Card has been inserted into a new OPPO Find X5 (Black, 256GB on-board storage, 8GB RAM, and Model CPH2037), which I received from OPPO (thank you for the OPPOrtunity!), as one of their 20 global OPPO Product Ambassadors. It has become my daily driver, and replaces my previous OPPO Find X3 Pro. The following are my views and opinion only.
In real life, I enjoy Smart Phone technology, and manage all of my online presence (including my twitter (more than 181,000 tweets so far), Instagram and LinkedIn accounts), directly from my Smart Phone.

Build Quality and Design:
The screen (Gorilla Glass Victus) is as I’d hoped for, bright and a massive range of colours (1 billion apparently… not that I would know, being colour blind), but importantly very easy to use in direct sunlight. While lower in absolute brightness than the Find X3 Pro, I am not disappointed, and it’s still brighter than the Pixel 6 Pro.
The rear of the Find X5 is black frosted matt glass, which is curvier than the front screen, and while super smooth, it does has a visible sandy appearance. That curvier rear really does help the Find X5 to fit snuggly into your hand and it instantly felt comfortable (probably because I was used to the feel of the Find X3 Pro).
Being smaller than the Find X3 and the X5 Pro’s (6.55 inches to 6.70 inches), does make it easier to go one handed, and with very narrow bezels (especially the sides), there is plenty of screen area to make use of, and after two weeks of use, I’ve not missed the extra screen area.
Another big positive coming from the Find X5’s size is the Volume Rocker (mid-upper left side) and the Power Button (mid-upper right side) fall naturally to my left thumb and middle finger respectively (yep, left handed) … there’s no stretching or pushing the wrong keys (looking at you Motorola Edge 20 Pro and Google Pixel 6 Pro).
Weighing in at 196 grams, the Find X5 is not the lightest, nor the heaviest, but in real life the design and fit makes it feel lighter than it should, with its weight well distributed. We still have to undertake QR check-ins here in Australia for certain venues (Hospitals, Restaurants, etc) and my test for balance is a simple one … find a QR Code that has been placed too high on a pole, and then see if you feel comfortable reaching up to scan one handed. With the Find X5, the answer is; yes, it does. It’s a very pocketable device.

Overall Performance:
Last year’s Snapdragon 888 powers the Find X5, and is assisted by the slightly smaller screen size, but also from the use of the standalone, OPPO developed, MariSilicon X Neural Processing Unit (NPU). NPUs are usually built into the chipset and runs the AI and computations for the Camera array. With this setup, the Snapdragon 888 does not have to share its processing power or storage with the Camera Array, with day to day usage resulting in consistently quick processing power and super smooth scrolling with the 120Hz screen refresh rate.
While the on-board RAM is listed on my Find X5 at 8GB, you have the option to add from RAM Expansion (within the Settings), either by 2GB, 3GB or 5GB (storage space permitting), and while I haven’t noticed huge differences, I have noticed how smooth the Find X5 runs.
Together with ColorOS, it provides a velvety smooth experience and so far I have not experienced any stuttering or freezing (something that both the Find X3 Pro and Pixel 6 Pro have been guilty of). The Find X5 has pushed through every task like a proverbial steam train and has not been found wanting at all (I’m not a gamer, but will regularly be working between multiple apps for my social media activities, listening to music, and emailing, so there is a lot happening all at once).

As part of the OPPO Ambassador programme, I was one of the lucky 20 people to be selected to review the OPPO Find X5 Pro. I was sent the global model of the OPPO Find X5 Pro in ceramic white 256GB 12GB RAM. With the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and MariSilicon NPU, I’m expecting seamless gameplay experience and high quality imaging prowess. Ive had the OPPO FInd X5 Pro for over 2 weeks now and it's time for my review which I have split in 2 parts.

So starting off with the contents of the box, we have an 80w SuperVooc charger. I’m glad to see this as Apple and Samsung don’t include chargers but OPPO has here and it’s a whopping 80w. There is a small box which includes: a quick guide, safety guide, warranty card and a transparent soft tpu case. I appreciate this being included as it offers that extra protection in case of those accidental drops.

Build Quality / Design
Taking a look at the sides of the device, on the right hand side is the power button with a subtle green accent. On the left hand side is the volume rocker, which are actually 2 separate buttons. And then on the bottom is the sim tray, usb type c port and a bottom firing speaker. All of this goodness is encased by an aluminium frame.
The phone feels great in the hand and has very pleasant ceramic finish on the back. Having the white model, you won’t notice any fingerprint marks. The camera module is very unique here, it’s like it melts into the back of the phone. Having said that, the phone is a little slippery so be mindful where you place it or just use the included case.
Display
As for the screen, simply put, it’s amazing. It has 6.7” AMOLED display (Gorilla Glass Victus) which is QHD+ resolution. The screen is curved but nothing too extreme. The screen has a refresh rate of 120Hz and you have the option to toggle between 60hz 120Hz. There is also an option manually to 1080p (from 1440p) if battery life is a concern. As for the screen brightness, it maxes out to 1300 nits so there shouldn’t be any issues in bright sunny days. As for the front facing camera, there is a punch hole camera on the top left corner. Oh and there is a pre-applied screen protector which is always welcome and will prevent any unwanted scratches.
Performance
Like some of the other Android flagship phones out there, the OPPO Find X5 Pro has the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 CPU paired with 12GB of RAM with the ability to add up to an additional 7GB of virtual RAM! The launching of apps and games are pretty much instant and just generally using the phone it is fast and fluid. The fingerprint reader is excellent, much more responsive than the Samsung Galaxy S22 and Pixel 6.The screen has LTPO Technology which means it can adapt its refresh rate from as low as 1Hz to save on battery life, or ramp up all the way up to 120Hz something which the S22 ultra does. When it comes to benchmarks, it does not disappoint. I have decided to test Geekbench 5 and 3DMark (20 mins strees test) on standard mode and performance mode.
The Xiaomi 12 (on the right) which also has the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 CPU overheats quickly and starts to throttle. This does not happen with the OPPO Find X5 Pro
Gaming
So when it comes to gaming, it doesn’t disappoint due to packing the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 CPU, which is a slight step from its predecessor the Snapdragon 888. I have tested some of the popular games which includes Asphalt and PubG. To really test the limits of gaming I have actually used several emulators, namely AetherSX2 which is a free PlayStation 2 emulator. Games have been ramped up to 3x their native resolution (which boosts graphics dramatically), this makes the CPU and GPU work hard. The higher you ramp up graphics whether it’s a game from play store or emulator, the hotter the phone will get.
There is also many gaming options; Game focus where you can block calls, messages, notifications, gesture navigations and more. You can also start screen recorder from within there, a voice changer, show the FPS, GPU and CPU usage. You can also play around with performance modes, there are 3: Low power mode, Balance mode Pro Gamer mode
Software
The OPPO Find X5 Pro comes with the latest version of Android 12 along with its custom skin called ColorOS and its on version 12.1 at the time of this review. While we’re on this subject, since I’ve had this phone, there have already been 2 small updates. OPPO have committed to 3 Major updates and 4 years of security patch updates. So far I have found ColorOS a delight to use, I have found it to be very smooth and the settings is well organised. There is no lag like I have noticed on MIUI 13 on the Xiaomi 12 which is a flagship phone. ColorOS is so thought out, for example there is a setting for Haptic feedback, you can choose between Crisp and Gentle, whichever you select, there is a small animation that plays and the haptics goes off so you can get a good idea of how it will feel. One thing worth mentioning is that there is an option to add other users to the phone, you won’t find this on the latest Xiaomi and Samsung flagships. If someone (including children) wanted to use my phone for a short period, I can just create an account for them and they won’t have access to my account at all.

The LTPO2 AMOLED with its 1 Billion colours is really sick, I literally was cross-watching 4K YT videos on Find X5 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro and S22 Ultra, they’re all sleek but OPPO somehow makes the videos dramatically deep and sharp, allowing to see very precise details. The upgrade from Find X3 Pro I see on the specs side is in the screen refresh rate, the 120Hz are now dynamically, it feels that the dynamic range helps to save battery as well. The curved glass looks amazing, shaping the phone to a more premium appearance, sometimes I fat finger a bit with my thumb when holding it and have to get used to holding it on the frame. The range from 500 nits up to 1300 nits together with the HDR video mode on video play is most likely the reason that the experience of watching videos is very life-like.

A 5,000mAh battery capacity, which supports 80W fast charging, and takes you 35 mins. to charge from zero to 100… and wait, the charger is included. What better flex could you make?
This 5000 mah battery is awesome, most likely the very best duration I ever experienced. Haven’t tried the 50W wireless charging yet.

Every user of Asian smartphones was feeling weird at first when using the cam and experiencing these massively face changing filters, and that turning them off wasn’t always possible.. So yes, these times are over!
Here with the Find X5 Pro it feels like another massive step made forward by OPPO’s devs. The colours are bringing the greatest real-life experience so far with true colours, it might be the impact of the collab with Hasselblad. The Ultra Night Video shows its highest strengths in completely dark environments, with zero to low light impact, night shots in the streets are showing great colouring and sharpness too.
There are two downsides I personally see: The Find X3 Pro had a macro mode, it was pretty awesome to explore although you never really post these pics. Second point for me is the zoom. The 13MP 2x telephoto camera is working fine but feels miles behind other phones that come with 5x or 10x zoom.
Generally the picture and video quality is stunning, but that is to be expected for a flagship phone I guess. Oh and the stabilisation system (OIS) with its 5-axis makes it impossible to mess up shots.

ColorOS is a heavily customised version of Android 12, I think that’s separating two types of people in general.
It turned out that the OPPO UI continues to be my favourite so far, making the balance between stock Android and manufacturer customization. I personally feel safe to use it, especially with the latest focus on user security features. The downpoint as for most Android phones: The availability of updates.. I should have been able to upgrade but was travelling and couldn’t get it first hand.. Quick message to support solved it. The interface itself is pretty easy and efficient to use, it seems it also solved battery heating issues, mastering it now (so far) on a great level.

I was surprised to see how a Ceramic phone feels in everyday usage, and it turned out to be pretty awesome. Usually however you try to protect your phone, you will get some tiny scratches.. I’m feeling safe using the Find X5 Pro without cover after the first week, btw. I’m using the black version, it’s basically like Chrome, mirroring, and even here, no way to get any scratch on it. That’s just crazy if you think about it!
A noteworthy point that can be highlighted as a huge plus is that it also allows wireless charging, I used a 30W charger in my car. Some may find the unique design appealing as a highlight, and wearing your phone in your pockets lets you understand how amazing it is to have no edges in the camera area, it’s literally clean all the time.
The hardest point for me to judge was the camera. The built-in tech is working smoothly and brings the OPPO on some areas at top levels, but the missing zoom options do hurt a bit.

Thanks. I like mine a lot, good battery life, super camera but the ceramic back is still slippy. I have the white one as I can't abide shiny mirror like finishes....
Disappointed by lack of font options (no bold font for example) and the two stock fonts are too similar. It's very smooth through the IU though, no stuttering (unlike the s22+ I had recently).
