My phone's storage is empty, but the app store says it is full. I've installed TWRP. - Redmi K20 / Xiaomi Mi 9T Questions & Answers

So, I've tried to root my phone, but twrp is not decrypting. I've done everything, like advance wiping and recovery and stuff. didn't work. now, when I'm using the normal miui but when I'm going to my file manager, it says 'disconnected'. I've connected through the computer. but there is no internal storage folder in the mi 9t drive. I'm trying to install some apps, as everything is wiped out, but the Google play store says I need free space. But my whole storage is empty. it's just not functioning. what to do, please help. i've already used factory reset, but the twrp pops open. i am new to this. if i can atleast get my old system back, i am happy.

System can't find Media Area Apps

Hello. I have a stock 4.5.91 At&t Atrix, unrooted, and with a locked bootloader. When I booted up today, some applications that are in my Media Area had disappeared. In the Manage Apps section, it lists them in com. form. For example, Tank Hero is named com.clapfootgames.tankhero. When I try to move these apps back to the phone or clear their data, the system says they don't exist. Rebooting doesn't help, and I don't want to factory reset, as I have 90+ downloaded apps.
I'd try clearing the dalvik cache and cache partition. Not sure how to without cwm. Faced the same issue couple of times...

Upon rebooting, the apps were restored, but I know this problem will persist. I'll live with it until I root (which I'm very tempted to do). Thank you for the reply!

[Q] Cache partition / market problems

Hey guys, got myself into a bit of a problem here. First, an app I'd installed disappeared....I went to the market to redownload it, and it kept saying "Package file has a bad manifest". So I went to the Application settings and uninstalled it.....same problem. So, I figured I'd wipe the system cache to see if that helped. So I booted into recovery (stock recovery, stock rom) and wiped the cache. Rebooted.....and the Market started telling me that I didn't have enough internal storage and all my downloads would fail. I read some things saying to wipe the market cache and data, etc, so I did all that and uninstalled the market updates, leaving me with the old market instead of Google Play. Now, it still wouldn't download anything. I managed to find an apk of a log viewer, since I couldn't download one from the market, and it was saying download aborted - internal storage is full whenever I tried to download an app. I have plenty of storage. From what I could find, the market downloads apps to /cache. I tried to copy some files to /cache, just to see what would happen, and they copied fine. They disappeared a few minutes later. I've tried wiping the cache a few more times. It says it wiped it, and then says it can't mount cache:recovery/log. I found one guy who fixed this by repartitioning his cache. Can I do this? I'd try a hard reset but I'm a little hesitant because if it didn't work, I'd be stuck unable to download any apps. At least now my phone is usable. Amy help would be appreciated. Thank you.
Well, what a surprise. I installed 2ndInit for the Defy, booted into its recovery, wiped the cache, and it's good as new all of a sudden. How strange.
Feel free to lock/delete this. Or leave it in case anyone else happens to have this odd issue..

Update CM11 = lose storage

I am currently on CyanogenMod 11 version 140924. When I update to a newer version of cm 11 my storage is inaccessible and says there is no storage available. My gallery crashes and says no storage my Google Play store also crashes. However I can use root explorer and see my SD card however none of the apps seem to see it and I cannot download anything. Anyone have any suggestions on what I can do?
I think it's something has to do with permissions maybe..
The only thing I can suggest is formatting the disk from recovery like TWRP then wipe for a fresh install..
Make sure you know how to transfer ROM files when nothing on phone but the recovery or you have external hard SD and backup your things somewhere.
Usually when my phone has a problem that I couldn't fix even with wipe and install ROM again, I do this.
Have you had any luck?. I have been banging my head for the past two days on this I cannot use any cm11 to access my internal storage . A factory image and lollipop work fine I can see my internal storage but on cm11 I cannot. Everything was working fine I tried cm12 and then when I went back and something went haywire...
I have wiped everything in recovery and installed fresh. It seem like when I tried fusion recovery and tried to go back this seemed to happen.

[Urgent]All Apps...Gone! After updating CM12

Ok here is the situation....
I soft-bricked my D802 after simply restarting the phone today (stuck on loading screen). Dunno how it happened but it did. Luckily, I thought, I had a recovery file from TWRP.....restored it....didn't work.
So I said, 'oh well, let's just update it anyway'. So I did a simple factory reset using TWRP, and installed the latest CM12.
Not I can get into the Android System, but all my apps....gone! I am pretty sure I didn't delete the files because when I look into the settings, the harddisk space is still taken up. Also, when the new CM12 initiated it said 98 apps upgrading. So I'm pretty sure the apps are there.
The problem is, all of them are now gone. What's worse, all GAPPS except Gmail are gone too. There is no way to do anything about it even after I reflashed GAPPS.
Desperately needing help.
Factory reset in recovery delete your apps.

Use a file manager and look to see if you have more than one sdcard. This happened to me. The folder is called 0 everything should be in there

Getting error messages that I don't have an SD card??

Hey guys,
So I just got my OP5 today... the first thing I did after taking it out of the box was unlock the bootloader (obviously). I then installed TWRP so I could backup my stock image. Since then I've been fighting with my phone all day because my apps say I don't have an SD card. 1) I can't download apps, 2) I can't take pictures 3) I can't create a folder on my internal storage with the file manager.
I have tried wiping system and wiping data. ( I'm currently on FreedomOS rom since I wanted to try wiping everything ) The weird thing is I was able to download ES file browser, Root Checker, and Titanium backup before the SD card stopped working. Is there any way I can try to fix this??? Kinda worried I received a defective unit.
you need to wipe data then reboot you will find the problem is fixed

Unfortunately I tried this a few times to no avail. Fortunately for anyone else with this problem I think it's fixed. After wiping I ran Fix Permissions in TWRP... that seems to have done the trick. I'm up and running now, no bugs. Thanks for the input!

sounds to me you somehow erased your data partition and didnt wiped/format it.
you are not the first one with that problem: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72807646&postcount=8
