I think I have an unsolved problem. I know it doesn't exist, but it's very hard to find it.
I know it's not the Plus, but the Model is the Moto C XT1754 (NAMATH) Android 7.0 Nogaut - NRD90M.060
And there is no specific topic for it, but they are very similar and I thought I could post it here.
It's a very complicated problem, so I'll explain in detail what happened and why I had to come here to solve it.

- STARTING:
I installed a TWRP through the app, without unlocking the Bootloader.
Whenever I turned it on, at boot still, the message appeared:
'red state
Your device has failed verification and may not work properly
Your device will boot in 5 seconds'
But it called normally.
I installed 'Magisk Manager 24.2' by zip and app afterwards.
I activated 'Zygisk' and in DenyList I activated/hidden from Google Play Services completely. All.
I restarted the smartphone and Sitema started having numerous errors. Most of the apps that I opened, closed with error, and other apps in the background too, mainly Google Play Services.
I tried to solve this but I couldn't because the smartphone was unusable.
I decided to format by TWRP.
But when I tried to restart the device, I always entered TWRP and continued that message in Boot ('Red State Your Device...')
I decided to reinstall Stockrom from Moto C XT1754.
When I tried to install Stockrom through flash_tool, I couldn't.
It always gives error.
'BROM ERROR : S_BROM_CMD_STARTCMD_FAIL (0x7D5)
[BROM] Can not pass bootrom start command! Possibly target power up too early.

or this one is the most common:
'BROM ERROR : ?? (0x1)

I even tried installing a Custom Rom via Sdcard , 'Viper-namath-20171206-Coral-v3.1.1-UNOFFICIAL' with the GAPPs, etc.
I can install the ROM. (but the GAPPS gives an error at the end of the installation) 'open_gapps-arm64-7.1-micro-20220215'
But I think this case is because it is not installing the Custom ROM correctly. (Because of the Locked Bootloader? Maybe... I'm kind of a layman on the subject)
Because when I restart the device after installation it goes back to TWRP.
I can't get into Fastboot mode with the command by the buttons on the device, only by TWRP when I access 'Reboot>Bootloader'.
Reboot and go to fastboot (Black screen, down there written '=> FASTBOOT mode...'
I've already tried to recover/rescue the device by Motorola/Lenovo's 'Rescue and Smart Assistant'. But when I try to rescue it (with it connected to TWRP) it asks to accept the message to enable USB debugging.
But I don't have access to this window through TWRP.
Here comes the big question, why I am not able to solve my problem:
I think my 'USB Debugging' was off/disabled before I erased everything (formatted).
I'll try Stockrom's Flash through TWRP to see if it solves the problem, but I don't think it will.
I think the problem may be with the 'USB Cable' as well. He's old. I tested with a non-original USB cable that I had to see and I can't either, the errors persisted.
I plan on getting another original to test as well.
Just an observation.
My device is being recognized as 'USB MTP Device' (under 'Portable Devices')
If anyone can save me, I'd really appreciate it!

SOLVED!
So I went ahead, tried flashing the stock recovery, no joy (no recovery menu at all - just a bad-android image). After a while, tried flashing CWM touch (via Toolkit) - and now it's working. So, everything seems good now.

UPDATE 5 - PARTIALLY SOLVED:
So, after the last couple of things, I began to suspect bad hardware, as I alluded in those updates. And I was right.
But... it wasn't the hardware you might have thought.
It was...

The USB cable.
Yes, the USB cable. It was the wild variations in recognizing the fastboot mode that made me suspicious. Replaced the USB cable with another one and... stability, achieved. Unlock, root, recovery program and SU program all went without a hitch. In fastboot mode, for the first time, the device serial number shows.
HOWEVER - things are not perfect. The recovery mode from the bootloader still gives the bad-android icon.
I just used the toolkit to reflash stock recovery back to the device. This completed rapidly, without error. I then tried the recovery option in the bootloader, but again, no joy.
So at this point, I point a finger partly at the tools used to flash this - they claim there is no problem, yet the flash doesn't take at all, and no error is given. As a sometimes firmware developer, I'm used to flash being followed up by a checksum or other test to verify success of the flash. Is that not being done (shame, if not). If it is, then apparently the flash works, but the software being flashed doesn't? The stock recovery???
Any ideas on how to get this back? I just did the full unlock, which wiped all user data, and proceeded from there. I now have a solid connection, but don't really know how to get things back.
Perhaps I need to manually reinstall 4.2.2?

So, on a lark, from fastboot in Android, I selected the "Recovery" option - it starts to boot that, then gives the Android with red triangle and exclamation point. So, looks like the recovery was toasted.
This was a brand new device earlier today. It has been completely wiped twice, and none of this has gone away. Seriously: bad device?

Device is in Fastboot, Device Manager shows it as ok.
I run fastboot flash recovery <file> -- and IMMEDIATELY get "fastboot has stopped working" - that's right, a hard crash in fastboot. And this is repeatable.
Am I wrong in thinking this looks more and more like a driver problem? I note that fastboot is recognized as a device maybe half the time - the other half, it gets an exclamation point in Device Manger. All I do then is restart the bootloader using the bootloader menu, and usually it fixes right up. But that's obviously a huge red flag, as the device should be recognized every time.
Is this a defective Nexus? The only thing that seems dicey is anything relating to fastboot/bootloader (which is, however, unlocked - or at least it says it is).

UPDATE 2: Using the "restart bootloader" in fastboot results in slightly worse non-recognition of the device. When I do that, I get a straight "USB Device Not Recognized" from windows - the device manager doesn't even show "Android Phone" as a class of device in this case.

UPDATE 1: I found the thread talking about missing entries in the INF file. I added these, and got a somewhat, but not entirely, stable recognition of the Nexus 7 when in fastboot mode. Basically, sometimes it is recognized, other times it is not. By "recognized", I mean that the Windows Device Manager shows the device as "Android Bootloader Interface", with no indication of a problem (which it only does in fastboot mode - it shows as a composite ADB device when booted normally).
However - it seems it fails to recognize fastboot about half the time, although it seems that that is related to reboots - that is, a fresh boot, then going to fastboot through adb seems to work. But restarting fastboot manually fails to be recognized (Windows shows a bang by the "Android Bootloader Interface", and says the device "failed to start").
So, using 4.3.5 Nexus 7 toolkit, I tried to unlock the bootloader. Windows recognized fastboot mode, but the process errored out anyway, after maybe 15 seconds, saying "Too Many Links" - the same error as before.
Again, brand new 32gb wi-fi-only Nexus 7, with 4.2.2 update and the most basic configuration only (dev mode, usb on, etc.)
Any ideas?

So this is a new, out of the box nexus 7. The only setup has been to connect to wifi, update to 4.2.2, and enable developer mode and USB debugging.
Running latest paid-for toolkit - Update 29 Feb 13, version 4.3.5
Just about everything requires the insecure fastboot, but every time I try any operation that attempts it, I get:
Booting into fastboot mode
downloading 'boot.img' ...
FAILED <status read failed <Too many links>>
I basically can't do anything - in this case, I was trying to backup.
It is being done on 64-bit win7 system that had drivers, and worked for another nexus 7 a couple months ago. But, just to be safe, I uninstalled the drivers, rebooted, and installed.
However, I see this on the home page of the toolkit:
FASTBOOT MODE [If serial shows, drivers are installed]
List of Devices attached
ADB Mode
List of devices attached
<numeric code> device
From this, it seems I should expect the word "serial" to show up if the drivers are installed?
I then unplugged the Nexus, refreshed the menu, and both Fastboot and ADB show no devices.
I then plug in the nexus - I get the usual two tone "device attached" sound, no warning or error message from Windows.Checking the Windows device manager, I see a section "Android Phone" with the entry "Android Composite ADB Interface". There are no unknown devices, which would seem then that drivers are working.
So, another refresh of the main menu, and again, I see, under ADB MODE, a single device ID number, and the word "device".
I don't know what to make of this. Apparently, per the "if serial shows" message in the main menu, drivers a NOT installed. But according to Windows, they are.
This perhaps matches the fastboot failure.
Should I see "serial"?
In any case, what do I do to get the drivers to work properly if they aren't?
And if they ARE working, then what is wrong with fastboot?

No, you should not see "serial". Your devices serial number should be displayed under whichever path is valid at that time. If you are in the bootloader, your device serial number should be under "fastboot". If you are booted normally, your device serial number should be under "ADB".

I've since figured that out. There was nothing at all, when in fastboot mode, only ADB. But then I found the thread describing two missing INF entries. I added those, updated the driver, and now the fastboot mode (which wasn't even recognized by windows) is now ok in the Device Manager. However, in the main menu, it shows, literally, "??????????" instead of a serial number - that is, there are question marks instead of serial number, Following that, a few spaces and then "fastboot".
Apparently, there are still inadequacies in the driver as relates to very, very new models running 4.2.2 (which this is).
BTW, I do believe I read somewhere that the stock recovery initially comes up with just the android on his back with the warning sign. You then have to hold power and tap volume up or something like that and the recovery menu becomes visible. I could be wrong, I know I had to do this on my old GNex, and those were the steps that worked.

Interesting. I did re-flash the stock recovery, and could get that without the android image.

That may have been a GNex thing that I am remembering. Either way, I'm glad you got everything all straightened out. :good:

Requirement :
Should haveWugfresh Nexus Root Toolkit installed on your computer [with all updates installed ( not necessary),Should wait for it to download necessary updates for your device ( If no net connection then also no prob just wait) ]

You should how to connect your device using nrt, else, follow these steps,
Navigate to about phone section, while you are in the About Phone section, click on the Build Number option seven times to enable Developer mode. Then,go back to settings menu scroll down to developer options, in the Developer mode options, enable USB debugging. A screen will pop up on your phone when the program attempts to make a connection. Make sure to allow it.
Installing drivers :If the program and computer aren't recognizing your device, you will have to install software drivers. In the Nexus Root Toolkit, click on the "Full Driver Installation Guide" button and follow steps one to four. This is the most difficult part of the process. Be sure to follow the steps exactly.

How to find if your nexus is bricked:
You see a message "Boot failed...." on your device.
The device is not booting but is staying on boot animation screen for long time (>30 minnutes).
The device is bootlooping means the device is rebooting again and again upto boot animation.

What you should do:
Don't panic this error is 100% rectifiable.
if you happened to end up in "boot failed" message on your device after the computer you were using switched off halfway through the flashing process.Then you have to restart your computer and then boot your nexus into bootloader mode and connect it to your computer.
Open Nrt ( Nexus root toolkit)
You should select change in your model type and set "select the android build you are currently running to the version of android you were trying to flash if you were trying to flash some other ROM, then just leave this step.
Then select "soft-bricked or bootloop" or "device is on or normal" depending on your device's current state and press on "Flash stock + Unroot".
you will have to either download a factory image and browse to it when asked so by the software, or let the software download it for you.
( For obtaining factory image for your nexus and search for your device based on build number of your device... )
All the screen on your computer read and do as necessary (Most of the times it is "OK" button that you have to press)
The device should be back to normal after it reboots.
Else just let me know......!
This can be done without a toolkit, Flashing factory image with fastboot instead.
Toolkits cause many of the issues on here, learning to do it manually with fastboot can both avoid issues, and fix issues. And teach people valuable skills.... As adb/fastboot are essential tools, especially with a Nexus. ?

Well I had a different kind of problem.
My Nexus was running fine in 4.4.4 when I rooted it since it was out of warranty. It upgraded to Lollipop 5.0 without a problem and continued to function in rooted state.
It made several attempts at updating to 5.0.2 but always ended with "Failed" message. I figured unrooting the device might help with the OS upgrade. It did not and screwed up everything. I then Set it to Factory default and it went to wiped 5.0 state. Then disaster struck. I tried rooting it , unfortunately with older Chainfire which bricked the device and would not let me install 5.0. So I tried to force install 4.4.4 and then the device got bricked. I simply get the message "Boot Failed" I boot into fastboot mode and I get the basic display with green start in the upper right corner, large Android icon in the center of the screen and the standard fine text on the lower let side. Unfortunately Windows ( x64 - Ultimate) insists on recognising the device as "Unknown Device" and when I go into properties this is is what is states ...
"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"
Do you think I might have better luck if I tried this on a Win XP machine ? I have both, x86 and x64.
Now, can you please tell me how I can get around this problem ?
BTW I do remember olden days of Cassiopeia PDAs before the flash memory came on the stage. The original OS would be on a plugged in masked rom daughter board in the event of losing all battery power. You could always force it to load it and get to factory mode. I think it is high time Android device manufacturers reverted to this process. I believe it can live side by side with the current system at a very marginal higher cost but have a whole lot of satisfied and LOYAL customers. It would give the user ability to go to factory mode albeit without any OS updates/upgrades but a fully functional device.
Would very much appreciate your feedback.

LG L5 E610 - Strange issue

Hello guys.
I have an LG L5 (E610) that is having a very strange behavior.
It started by throwing a lot of ANR with different applications (Google Play Store, Play Services, Facebook, and others).
So, seeing this, I decided to do a factory reset. After reboot, what is my surprise that I see everything as I had before. All the applications, all the data, everything.
With this, I tried almost everything at the moment. And by saying that, I mean:
- Tried to follow the key combination for the recovery, it goes to recovery, I see the Android and some progress bar moving, but after the reboot, the system remains with no change;
- When on the system, I uninstall applications, they seem to be uninstalled, but after a reboot all the applications are back.
- Tried to root the phone with more than one process, no success. I cannot install any application. Not via play store, not via adb install, there is no way;
- Tried to flash a recovery img, to try to clean cache partition from there, no luck. From Fastboot it says everything went well, but when I reboot, everything is the same;
- In fastboot, I tried to erase cache and userdate partitions, no luck. When I try, i have a message saying "FAILED (status read failed (Too many links))". This happens with all the partitions. I even tried to erase the system partition, and I have the same response. Strange thing is that after this error, the phone reboots and goes directly to the system;
- Tried with KDZ images and tools to install different versions, I receive errors during the deployment and at the end the phone reboots. Again, the same system is installed as before. No changes.
As of now, I was trying to understand if there is any problem with the internal flash system. Maybe it is corrupted and is causing all these issues.
The thing is, as the phone is not rooted, I cannot launch a e2fsck to the maybe faulty mmcblk0pXX
The phone has a stock ROM based on Android 4.0.3 (build IML74K / LG-E610-V10e-JUN-30-2012)
I am out of ideas, I've looked around here at XDA, Google and I have no other ideas to try.
Does anyone have another suggestion?
Is there something else I can do to try to make the phone live again?
Any help someone can provide will be very much appreciated..
Now this is what I call a coincidence.
About 2 years ago, a friend of mine asked me for help with her E610. Almost all actions were giving us ANRs. Whatever you do, i.e. unsinstall, install, change, delete... after reboot/reset were all there, even notifications! Tried KDZ updater, and, while the update was OK without signs of errors or so, after reboot - nothing, everything was like before. After trying to find a solutions by hundreds of ways, with adb and fastboot commands (all partitions&folders were locked, no read, no write, and you can't see any file, tried root to no avail), L5 got bricked. She already got a new phone and this LG was laying there without any use.
Three days ago I decided to try again, with no hope tbh No screen, no vibration, nothing, apparently dead. But, I could install Qualcomm drivers and my Windows can see it in download mode. I think that the only way is to flash the phone with LGFlashTool and using COM port. I already extracted *.dz from *.kdz but I need the dll for FlashTool. Found 2 or 3 webs with this dll, but you need a 100 bucks subscription :crying: If anyone can upload that dll I'd be very happy to try to flash this phone I'm really big n00b in this, just a plain phone user, nothing more, so don't blame me if I said something wrong

Hello! Same problem...
My L5 is making me crazy... It has CyanogenMod 10 nighlty. A friend of mine was using it and he tried to install the GAPPS after he did a factory reset. I have no idea what guide he used but it got soft bricked... It's constantly showing a "stopped working" message and after a while reboots by itself.
I tried to do a factory reset but it always returns to the same point, same apps installed, everything like the reset never happened. I even used CWM to reset it and it allways goes back to the same recovery point.
After a while I decided to flash a stock room but here's the problem: I can't get into emergency mode.
After reading ALL post about it I found that there's at least three ways of entering EM, (1) down VOL and plug in usb cable without battery; (2) down+up VOL and plug in usb; (3) down+up VOL + power botton.
Conclusions:
(1) - gives me a screen full of code like a command line
(2) - White screen
(3) - White screen
I've read ALL the unbrinking post on the internet, including xda, and none of them helped.
The KDZ Updater never recognizes the phone. I installed all the drivers but everytime I plug in the phone it installes the same LGE MTP drive...

How to unlock bootloader if I have no access to Android GUI?

a week ago my ZUK Z1 started to bootloop without any evident reason.
I found it in this state picking it up from my pocket, so I guessed it was due to some random reboot that occasionally happened to it.
So, stating that:
- I'm with original stock CyanogenOS,
- I never rooted, or even accessed to the recovery menu prior to this event,
- I'm perfectly able now to communicate and send commands to device via adb or in fastboot mode,
problem is that I did NOT enable "USB debugging" and I did NOT OEM unlock when I had the chance to reach Developer options menu through the Android GUI (now I'm blocked by bootloop), resulting in an obvious "no unlocked device" error message each time I try to flash or write system partitions.
The output from "fastboot oem get-info" confirms this status.
I'm operating from a shell with adiministrator's grant in Windows 8.
No luck with "fastboot oem unlock", "fastboot flashing unlock_critical" or "adb root".
I used also "-i 0x2b4c" (vendor code) option in my commands.
Then, my question for you:
is there still a way to unlock bootloader in order to recover with CyanogenOS stock image, in this condition?
I saw there's a "debuggable" image on Cyanogen site, but I've no hint on how to use it and if it could help me.
Maybe ZUK has to provide to me an unlock key: I read on this forum that OnePlus and Huawei have similar option.

Sideload the official stock rom with zuk z1 tool. That s how i managed to un-brick my zuk. Download the stock rom , cm-12.1-YOG4PAS3OH-ham-signed.zip from this page https://cyngn.com/support. Use the toolkit provided here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/zuk-...alpha-t3235964 to sideload the rom. Wait until the phone restarts and thats it. You must also install adb and fastboot and have adb driver installed.I used the shenqi adb composite driver, but i guess the universal adb driver can work too. I had the same problem. Stuck in bootloop with USB debugging not enabled and bootloader locked.
Or you can try to fastboot the stock rom with the command provided in this useful tool.

Sideload the official stock rom with zuk z1 tool. That s how i managed to un-brick my zuk. Download the stock rom , cm-12.1-YOG4PAS3OH-ham-signed.zip from this page https://cyngn.com/support. Use the toolkit provided here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/zuk-...alpha-t3235964 to sideload the rom. Wait until the phone restarts and thats it. You must also install adb and fastboot and have adb driver installed.I used the shenqi adb composite driver, but i guess the universal adb driver can work too. I had the same problem. Stuck in bootloop with USB debugging not enabled and bootloader locked.
Or you can try to fastboot the stock rom with the command provided in this useful tool.

I've already tried your fair suggestion: unfortunately, I'm stuck at the end of sideloading the signed .zip.
In fact, I see on screen logs that it's applying the update "unconditionally" (that sounds good), but nevertheless, when finished it returns "xfer: 1.00x" on PC shell and in recovery menu, on device.
Now, either if I reboot or power down and boot it again, the result is the same: still bootloop-ing.
Of course, at any other attempts leveraging on administrative privilege, it says that "device is locked", including those done through the shell tool.

You must have the phone in sideload mode. There is an option to sideload in recovery menu.
Then use the command to sideload from the toolkit. The stock rom must pe renamed sideload and placed on desktop.
If the phone communicates in any way with pc, there is still hope. When you start the sideload process from pc, the phone should show an animation showing the flashing process. Post some pictures from where you are stuck, so i can make an idea about what is going on
my zuk z1 stuck to bootloop,
and android debugging is disabled.

I've tried also with the toolkit, but it's heavy bugged (also in 5.4 version) and, after all, it gets the exact same problem like me (not surprising, it launches my same commands ).
There's no useful image or snapshot I can share, because I see the animated green android logo moving its antennas on my device, while logs below saying that it's verifying package and then it's unconditionally overwriting system partition.
It seems all so normal and plain.
At the end of the process, no "installation complete" message, but simply I get back to recovery menu (where I started from).
In other attempts, I also wiped cache and user data, prior to rebooting, just to test if it was going to change something, but no luck.
The phone reboots, the "Cyanogen" logo starts to glow for 7/8 times and then... bzzzz, short vibration and all over again (i.e. bootloop).
I tried with an older official signed .zip from Cyanogen OS (cm-12.1-YOG4PAS3AJ-ham-signed, instead of newer cm-12.1-YOG4PAS3OH-ham-signed), but even worst, it fails at "verify package" step, aborting procedure.
MD5 signatures triple-checked each time versus source.
I saw some threads where it seems possible to change the bit, on system image, controlling developer option, to manually post-enable unlocking, but it's suitable only for Nexus or OnePlus One. No instructions for ZUK Z1.
Or maybe do I need a "donor" sharing a stock .zip with this option yet enabled?
Bootloop would be still there, but I possibly could enable to "flash", "boot" and "shell" vs the device, giving me much more options to try.
One last doubt anyway. If I press "Volume Down" + "Power" button at boot, I get into a menu like this:

Viewing other examples posted on forums, I noted that at least the "Factory reset" is missing.
Could it be an hint for anything useful?

For me, this method worked exactly as described, booting into stock rom correctly.
now, if you mentioned it in the picture, there is another option. so, i ve noticed too this menu. There is an app called QPST wich can help you. Follow this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/zuk-z1/help/bricked-zuk-z1-t3277257 .
So when you enter in QFIL, connect the phone to computer and boot with volume down+ power into this menu from your picture. The Qfil app should detect some ports. You must choose the 9008 one, from what i have read.
Anyway, for me this method, didn t work because the pc couldn t detect the right port, only the zuk tookit did it for me.
You read the thread i suggested, and try that method, it may work for you.

I saw QPST trick, but it's not catching right port and/or not getting right permission to stop phone from re-booting.
I think that adb/toolkit method should work also for me. I made attempts with other official ROMs: I noticed that for the older ones, the result is a bit different. They get stuck in a "black screen + notify led lighted in blue" state, rather than bootlooping.
Maybe erasing system partitions is needed, but I'm very reluctant to such dangerous way, without expertised advice.
Weirdest thing is that I did anything to get this situation, I just found my device in this mess.
Of course ZUK official support is well silent at my requests.

Try to post some pics about the troubles you encounter. If we receive a solution, this may be helpful for all of us in the future. Now, exactly, what can you acces on phone(recovery, fastboot, )?
Also, check varios threads from other phones with the same problems(one plus one, lg , htc) ,etc. Find a solved situation like yours, and we may adapt that solution to you

Just to close this topic.
I was finally able to install the ZUI ROM through the QFIL program.
It's a little bit tricky, due to the fact that it is strongly suggested:
- to use a Windows 7 machine started without Signature Enforcement enabled;
- to start QFIL (admin mode) and be prepared with all needed files loaded in its GUI;
- to power off the phone, then, while pressing volume up button, inserting the USB cable, attached (better if) on a 2.0 port to PC;
- to be fast pressing "Download" button on QFIL program.
After that, I unlocked the bootloader and performed a lot of alternative recovery process.
So, I installed on the device:
- ZUI ROM
- Cyanogen OS convert from ZUI ROM
- Cyanogen OS last updated ROM
- CyanogenMod 12.1 last nightly ROM
- CyanogenMod 13.0 last nightly ROM
and the winner is...
...
...
...
... none of the above.
Each time the very same behaviour: bootloop. So, my last conclusion is: hardware failure (I guess wi-fi module).
I give up.
But for anyone searching a safe way to unlock a bootloader without accessing to developer options: the QFIL method works like a charm (once installed properly).

Messed my zuk z1
I tried to flash stock room in my zuk z1 , I downloaded Qualcomm file for the ROM and installed the required in my laptop,I wiped all data in my phone using TWRP .though my power button is not working I used tool kit to reboot my phone by connecting into fast boot mode,here comes the prob by mistake I entered the wrong command which locks my bootloader .I don't know what to do...help me.....

My experience with FRP lock and how I solved it...

So my nephew brings me his galaxy s6 t-mobile phone... He forgot his lock pin so he factory reset it. Now he can no longer get into the phone because he doesnt know the correct email or password. I did some digging through the net watched a few videos... and found none of the methods they used to bypass the lock would work on his phone. Then I read about the Combination Rom (Factory Binary)... At this time I do not have any windows pc's and my VM will not read the usbs of the phone... (im not that experienced with vm to set this up) So i grabbed JOdin for linux and proceeded to try to flash the binary. However, JOdin did not work for me. So i found Heimdall and installed to learn that i had to find some weird way to run it as SU for it to work... Tho Heimdall worked like a charm.... With Heimdall I had to take the rom and completely extract it to a folder and find all the img files in it to install on heimdal like sboot, boot, cm, system, and quite a few others as well.I used the "PIT" file from the combination rom (which came in the download). When done installing the phone boots into Factory Binary... Interesting little rom... From here you can access settings, tho the instructions tell you to enable developer options and turn on usb debugging... in this rom they are set on by default i believe, so that was kind of a waste of time... then from the main menu you click the icon that looks like a calculator and type in "*#0808# where you are then presented with usb options. Select the last one on the list with adb at the end of it, click save and reboot. At this point I thought i was supposed to install the stock rom back (that was where i was lost) however all you have to do is let it boot back to binary. After it has reloaded... plug it into the pc and send it the proper adb instructions to disable frp lock. Techeligible has a batch file for use in windows, however if you dont have windows like me that does no good... So I went into the batch file with a text reader and extracted the information i needed ( 3 adb commands).In terminal i made sure my adb and fastboot were updated and working. I learned that when you type "adb devices" it will show the phone and if it says nothing else you are good to go. However it may give you a problem with permissions. If this is the case then unplug and make sure usb debuggin is on, you can also check that the adb is enabled again by doing the *#0808# command again and make sure the last selection is checked. When all is in order... At first I thought all commands must work for it to succeed... However this is not true at all. Only one of the adb commands will not give an error and at that time you can reboot into download mode and install the stock rom back on. After installation the phone will reboot and FRP Lock is no longer on... Now you can go into settings open up developer settings (tap build number till it unlocks) and select "OEM Unlock" and turn it on. Make sure usb debugging is on and you can boot back into download mode and install TWRP without a hitch.
I tried installing a couple of custom roms, however I have had no success with getting one to boot. (always stuck in boot loop even with wipe or factory reset) so I gave up and left him with the stock rom. If anyone has any idea of how i could get passed the bootloop maybe i can try again for him sometime and see how he likes various custom roms, but now he is happy he has his phone back working and it only took me a week of off and on frustration to figure it out... Hope this helps someone... (please dont ask for links) but if you do need help or have questions feel free to ask.
