Some of my apps are started to stop working since they need at least android 8 while my p10 lite has android 7. When I try to update it from the system menu it says there are no updates available. How can I manually install at least android 8 or any other more recent android on my phone? Where can I download those androids and how much safe are they? Am I going to be able to use the official android from the Android website or should I trust some modified android versions developed by enthusiasts?

Thinking for going through the pain again of rooting and flashing a rom since EMUI4 is driving me nuts.
So apparently, no stock Android available to us unfortunately, no Cyanogen, no nothing.
Only some kiddy looking kang kang thing that seems a bit too DIY for me.
My phone is not a toy, it's a work tool. Cant live with EMUI 4.0 any longer (see my other post) and not interested in installing these alternative oesses.
I see EMUI 5 lives out there and is perhaps a light of hope from my perspective.
Meanwhile
The post about downgrade to EMUI 4.0 is gathering more hits than the upgrade thread itself.
Let me know if you have yourself installed successfully EMUI 5.0 through TWRP or else.

I am the owner of an unlocked P Smart 2018 running PhHusson's generic ROM, thank to his work.
This ROM was based on android 8.1, and required EMUI 8.
I am thinking about moving to a more recent version (PhHusson's, or Haki's AOSP 10 if they are not the same), but it would need me to upgrade EMUI from 8 to 9.1.
I have two questions about that:
1/ does it worth the pain ? (driver optimizations, better security, more recent apps ?)
2/ if yes, would the upgrade from EMUI 8 to 9.1 lock the device, or block/complicate the flashing of custom ROMs ?
I was not confident the first time I flashed my phone, additional difficulties would be a con- argument.

I work for a school and we need this tablet to run on an older version of android for certain app that we use. It came with Android 9 shipped out of the box. Can we possibly downgrade to earlier versions? How can I go about doing so? I haven't been able to find reliable apk version 8 installer. I saw that the SM-T290 was released mid 2019 and was wondering if it would still be possible to go on android 8 or 7 even if it was being shipped with version 9 from the factory.
Appreciate any insight.
