[ROM] ][OFFICIAL BETA]Color OS 12 C.08 for Oneplus 8 - OnePlus 8 Guides, News, & Discussion

Caution: Always be careful when you flash files. Be sure to understand how to backup and rescue your device in case of flash failure. Since this is a Beta Version, there may bugs and issues which I am not aware of.
ROM:Color OS 12
Android 12 For Oneplus 8
Latest Version:
Color OS 12.C08
https://gauss-componentotacostmanua...22/01/07/6bf5ed54316c4863b4e314020b2e962e.zip
Previous Version:
Color OS 12.C07
https://drive.google.com/file/d/18iVphKzgeIc1mUsEZaGC9tgN_-fKiDKU/view?usp=sharing
Instructions:
You must be running latest version of Oxygen OS 11. Download the attached ColorOS 12 zip file and do local update. Place ColorOS 12 inside internal storage – Go to settings – System update – Tap on Gear icon on the right top corner – Select local update – Select file & wait for Installation to complete and then reboot.
Note: When you have an existing google account logged in before installing update file, Google Play and services will still be available but if you upgrade from a freshly formatted OxygenOS 11 device with no google account, it isn't available anymore.
I have two OnePlus 8's. Tested this method and works both on my global and T-mobile variant.
Also, it is weird when you check the about phone section, our cpu processor now says Snapdragon 855 lol
Root:
- Unlock Bootloader (if not yet unlocked)
- Download and install attached magiskv23.0 apk
- I have provided different Color OS12 root toolkits depending on the Software Version you installed. Download and extract.
- Reboot to bootloader
- Run coloroot.bat
- Done
To downgrade: use MSM download tool and flash your stock firmware / alternatively I flashed an incompatible boot.img via fastboot, ROM will crash and you will boot automatically in bootloader mode. Go to recovery and format data & cache, after a few reboots, system will go back to my previous Oxygen OS 11.0.9.9 build.

The actual version of this build is C.07 anf I corrected my title already..Is CBT 5 a later build for Coloros12? Could you share it?

This version is one build behind. Latest is C.08.will share it soon

oxygen 11.0.10.10 Does it work on

Also keep in mind that ColorOS by default has about 400 system apps installed. About 100 of those are random Chinese bloatware and spyware apps that can't be disabled without root. They somehow disabled using ADB commands to remove apps (fishy).
Im running c.08 right now fiddling with stuff but wouldn't recommend as a daily driver

yes still a lot of kinks. for one, I had to turn on and off USB debugging in C.07 just to get adb detected. Just installed C.08 and it feels a little bit smoother compared to c.07.

I personally daily drive OxygenOS. It's very stable and I like the look and feel. However AICP ROM, is by far the smoothest and cleanest experience for the Oneplus 8 at the moment. Big ups to that dev (semdoc) he's a genius been using his roms for years.

Does anyone know if it works on a oneplus 8 tmobile IN2017?
I am on global rom 11.0.10.10.IN21AA

If you know the developer of that ROM, please ask him to remove the built-in su (or whatever magisk detects). There's a possibility I'm thinking of some other ROM, but I think this was the one I saw that in.
Thanks.
OOS is a bit crazy with the aggressive power management. Overall, though, I do like it better than Samsung, heh.

MIUI includes various features such as theming support
NOTE: This rom is based on latest Miui 10 China beta. Also i'm not the developer of this rom. Sharing the work here in XDA with permissions. Full credits to chinese developer HitoLiu

Installation
Before you flash this ROM, you need to remove any pin/password you have set in your previous ROM, or after booting you will get a black screen with the Chinese text.
1. Boot into TWRP recovery
2. Wipe System, Data, Cache & Dalvik
3. Go to Mount and uncheck System
4. Flash the latest OOS stable modem-firmware zip
5. Flash the MIUI 10 ROM and your desired root package
6. Wipe Cache & Dalvik and reboot
If you want to get rid of the useless chinese apps, just root and freeze the apps using titanium backup (do not delete as it will end in bootloop)

It isn't possible to manually activate Cam2API on Redmi Note 6 Pro at this moment with ADB commands.
The issue seems to be broader than just Android Pie (Beta 9.3.11) version as reported in the Xiaomi Global Forum, activation also doesn't work anymore in the latest Android Oreo versions (Stable 10.2.2.0 & Beta 9.3.1)

This is a totally unnecessary step that OP has mentioned in the first post. You can just use MSM tool to go from Oxygen OS to Colour OS , flashing hydrogen OS first doesn't do anything as Colour OS MSM tool has all the necessary files to flash colour OS

Agreed. MSM flashes the same things with hydrogen or ColorOS, they're different OS's but anything the hydrogen MSMtool put on there is going to be overwritten. I'm sure you can just skip hydrogen and go straight to ColorOS from OOS.

installing color OS with this process can I update via ota ?? or where can I see which version is the latest for our device?

OnePlus 8T ColorOS 12 first build

Pretty stable so far, no major bug found. One small caveat is that the device mostly stays in 60Hz, there's a fix to make it run at 120Hz but it doesn't stay for long.
Guide to upgrade at #2.
EDIT: New 120hz fix found, check #8

Actually 120Hz is working somewhat stable now, I'll need some more time to test it thoughly
They ignored the QS, but I can see some MY elements in apps like Chrome and Photos
How is battery stand by in this version? also notification delay?
I heard there high latency on notification on this os
OOS quite bad and high battery usage

That's really sad, I'm torn on wanting to try this and just sticking to the AOSP A12 builds I'm already on. I really like the new Android 12 look and I feel like ColorOS 12 ruins it entirely.

Then plug your phone into a computer and execute these command in adb:
Code:

Battery seems to be pretty good, at least on par with OOS

Hey, thanks for this guide.
I'm in the US, so I'm used to OOS, so I just have to ask if Google stuff is included in ColorOS? Or is it in this Coloros12 beta build at least? Just wanted to ask before I try this out, as I like having Google on my phone.
Thanks again. Hope to hear back.

Most of the Google service are included, but Play Store is not installed by default. You can just download a Play Store APK from APKMirror/APKPure/... and it will work just fine.
One small problem is in the setting, it shows that the device is not certified, maybe Magisk can fix that.

Thanks for the reply
And that will do just fine. I don't care about the not certified thing personally.

Link to MSM does not work. Is there an alternative download?
Can you go back to Android 11?

I think you can directly upgrade the ColorOS 12 build from Oxygen 11, but you'll need a complete data format for it to work

I'm not sure, you can try it out and let me know if that works
Do these colorOS builds pass Ssfteynet if Play is installed? And is there any risk on a T-Mobile 8T like there was when you flash 9R firmware

It only pass the basic test, failed the cts test

You can use https://github.com/Magisk-Modules-Repo/MagiskHidePropsConf to change build fingerprint to official 8T release. It will make your CTS pass. I am rooted and have safetynet pass with fod working!

[CLOSED]OnePlus 8t oxygen os 12 cbt
Download link: I have removed it due to the request of OnePlus staff and I will respect that decision. Incase your still on this I suggest you use msm to revert back to 11 since hard bricks are possible on this build

Read them yourself, the esteemed moderator didn't take a stance and locked at OP's request because OP *thinks* he broke tos. I don't see any violation on our side.
Okay cool!
How to install from OOS11? Just local upgrade in oxygen system updater?
And how to persist root? -> OTA Method in Magisk installer?
Thanks for your guidance.

It isn't working on all variants. On most variants you will be without network connectivity.
i have kb2003. Will I lose my network?

on kb2003 all working great for some devices. But I don't know why it works on some devices and not on the rest.. You must try to see it will work for your device..
Probably that's the reason:
"It's not cause it was designed for indian models (but it was) some OnePlus 8t have ddr5 ram instead of ddr4 and the ones with ddr5 are the ones who will most likely have network issues."
If you want to back stable rom, use this tool (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...l-to-restore-your-device-to-oxygenos.4180837/)

In fact, sorry for my mistake. Probably the type of RAM is to blame
I have ddr5 variant. So I think I will wait for something more sure.

I also have ddr5 variant. (I check - "adb shell getprop ro.boot.ddr_type" and answer is 1)
If I have time during the weekend, I will backup, downgrade to OOS 11.0.7.10 (because 11.0.12.12 is newer than CBT and updater shows error) and install CBT. Then I will test and write comment if ewerything works
FYI, this OOS 12 payload.bin has both (xbl, xbl_config) and (xbl_lp5, xbl_config_lp5) images so it caters for both ddr4 and ddr5 - just like an OOS 11 payload.bin does.
I installed OOS 12 CBT - WITHOUT doing a factory reset - using the latest TWRP (3.6.0_11-3) and it worked flawlessly.
All my installed apps are present and everything looks fine. There are only two significant issues I have found so far:
1. The fingerprint reader doesn't work (maybe because I didn't do a clean install). Edit: after a reset (which does a "format data") FP works
2. I cannot boot back into TWRP unless I switch slots. But since this thread is not about TWRP, I wont talk about it here any more.
Edit:
3. I've not been able to get adb to work.
I can make phone calls, send SMS, connect to the internet using both WIFI and mobile data. And my phone is a DDR5 device.
But face unlock works brilliantly.

Yup!
I flashed this beta in TWRP and for a brief look and testing I haven't found any bugs ATM
Seems pretty smooth
I'm really stupid..
Why I didn't think to use twrp and them I do not need to delete data and downgrade to older OOS.
I can even backup in twrp and then if I don't like it, restore the backup and the device will be restored to the state before cbt installation..
This is the best option I think. if the system works fine for me then I will do a clean install without twrp
