Do I have to unlock the bootloader before I flash magisk into the Samsung J7 Prime?
It's at android 6.01, and I have followed everything in the Magisk guide up until the point where I have to flash. I didn't follow the Samsung related guide and instead went to youtube for additional info. I have patched both the boot image and the AP tar file.

1.Enter into fastboot mode.
2.fastboot boot twrp.img
3.In twrp recovery flash twrp-installer.zip file
4.Then reboot to recovery to install twrp permanently.
5 Download cf autoroot file from firmware.mobi according to your build number and flash zip file through twrp recovery to root your mobile.
6.Install xosed installer app and through that install xposed framework.
7.Enjoy your rooted mi a1.

Where to get twrp installer.. on official twrp site there is only .IMG file for 3.1.1-0 available
The procedure you have explained is for twrp by Mohan 3.1.1-1 which doesn't seem to work fine for me

twrp 3.1.1-1 (by mohan) working perfect. Use twrp installer from this thread. First ensure that boot image is unmodified . Flash stock boot for your build number and then install twrp as stated above. Unmodified boot image must to install twrp. Then root with magisk to retain ota.

I did root sucessfully by this method few days back but 3.1.1-1 is not able to flash some files and magisk is not updating in this...
Importantly when officially available twrp is there why to use modes...
If u have procedure to flash the twrp.img from twrp website please show me the procedure...

downloaded again to rule out corrupted file
I have installed latest android 10 stock rom. i tried using the magisk manager patch AP file method. i flashed the patched AP file CP BL and Twrp. tar in userdata on Odin.
TWRP 3.4.0.4 is installed but when i boot it gets stuck on samsung boot animation.
i tried flashing magisk zip from twrp and then it continuous bootloops to the Samsung bootloader image.
Do i root first stock and then install later TWRP?
Can anyone list out a short guide how to root Android 10 and aldo have TWRP with it.
I found the solution as
1. Install stock rom
2. follow root guide 1.0
3. Patch AP file with magisk manager
4. Download TWrRP App from playstore
4. Root stock rom

6. Now I have stock rom rooted with latest twrp.
By the way also fixed device signature modified with magisk prop and busybox module and editing build prop to match device fingerprint error.

Now I wish to install TWRP to my device, but I can't. I followed the instruction on TWRP page, install TWRP app via google play, download the vbmeta.tar and flash it. Now I ended up with the result that I can't get into my system. (When I enter recovery, it's TWRP, when I boot normally, it just stays with samsung logo.)
I managed to reflash the magisk patched image and now I can boot into the system. But how can I flash TWRP, with magisk enabled at same time?
(I use TWRP to flash opengapps because google apps are not included in Chinese version of Samsung system)

I dont know if this works with the latest update, but it certenly worked with android pie and the first android 10 update.

a202f, unlocked bl, installed dm verity, format data and rebooted. Iv encrypted before and remembered to first encrypt then root. It just keeps saying encrypting, restarts and does nothin. Flashed with magisk rooted everything is working but it just doesnt encrypt. All the fones ive done the same procedure and have worked. Has anyon got advise or a flashable zip that will make the fone shut up and encrypt. Thanks

iv tried everything in near all a20e forums i cant get the encrypt to start or work, any other ideas and il try. Iv been here for a week tryin but need the fone for work
I have an old G900V in great condition but trouble is that it is locked under Samsung FRP. It originally had 6.0.1.
I was trying to remove lock, but it did not work, so I decided to just upgrade to Lineage OS 18.1.

on how to root the device and I am able to install 4.4, root it and boot into TWRP, do advanced wipe and install the latest Lineage 18.1 image.
Once the phone reboots, it is stuck on Samsung logo.
I also tried installing 6.0.1 flash from the same forum post, but it immediately shows error, indicating that the phone is locked.
Please suggest how to proceed. Ideally, I want to upgrade to lineage, but if that is not possible, I am ok with 6.0.1, but trouble is that with the stock firmware I am not able to proceed because of FRP.
Is there a simple method to bypass the FRP, given that I have root on 4.4 and potentially can make changes in the system, while still in TWRP, after installing stock?
