Random carrier loss on phone calls - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

Hi @All
When I'm making a phone call all of the sudden the phone drops all connectivity.
It interrupts the call with a beeping sound and then the message "mobile network not available" pops up.
But not only is the mobile network gone, but also wifi.
After a few seconds the connection to the carrier is established again and I can repeat the phone call.
Sometimes it then works but often I get the next connection loss.
I'm facing this problem on my 6t now already for a while.
I hoped to get rid of this problem by updating the phone to the latest Oxygen OS version - but without success. The problem remains.
Is anyone else facing the same problem and knows if this could be a hardware or softwae related problem?
Thanks in advance
Bastian

losing connection to network

My device is O2 Mini S. Sometimes it just goes dead and nobody can call me. The funny thing is that I can call and the signal bar is in good condition. When I restart the device, signal bar goes dead too for some time and I just can't establish connection to the service provider any more. After some time it just appears to be ok and I can call again. Even incomming calls work. WTF??!? Is it something wrong with device or my service provider? It's actually very annoying that nobody can get in touch with me when i REALLY need to...

Sounds like a device issue more than service. Have you contacted O2 to complain about it as it may be that the XDA needs replacing. I know my Nokia started doing something similar and would lose network for no reason even while my partners' phone (also Nokia on O2) was fine and had a full signal strength.
Try setting the network manually rather than automatic, i seem to get better signal this way.

Thanks, this seem to have worked. Haven't got any missed call in 4 days... However, this is very odd, why does it happen with automatic network detection?
losing connection, no calls, no sms
i have had the same problems,
manual network selection works.
also take a look at the preferred networks list !
in my case a natwork, i have no access to was selected.
have a nice day

Cannot Receive Incoming Calls

I have a Wizard running a wm6 rom. I've posted in the ROM specific thread without response, so maybe this is a more general issue that applies to wm6.
I can make outgoing calls just fine, but I cannot receive incoming calls (or mail, internet connection, etc). Incoming calls go straight to my voice mail (without notifying me of the voice mail). If I try to connect to internet to check mail, etc. it says 'error syncronizing'.
Outgoing calls work fine without error.
I can usually fix the problem by doing a hard reset, soft reset (sometimes), or simply turning flightmode on and off from comm manager, or turning the phone on and off from comm manager.
Finally, I noticed on my specific rom, when it IS working correctly, I have the E for the EDGE network displayed to the left of the signal strength. When it does not work, the signal strength is still there (and strong), but to the left of it is not an E, but some arrows with an 'x' over them.
Any ideas what could be causing this? Is it software related? A setting somehow? The ROM itself? The radio (I'm not sure what this part is, but it sounds like it could be involved)? Or perhaps something I am not thinking of?
Any help would be appreciated.
Have you tried your phone service provider? This is something they should be able to help you troubleshoot...just don't call them on the problem phone, you'll probably have to reboot it during troubleshooting!

Lost calls

I am wondering if anybody else is having the same problem.
I am on Rogers and one out of 20-30 incoming calls does not go through. No matter if it made from a land line or Rogers network. It goes to my voicemail (more often) or sometimes it gives 'number not in service' error. I tried my SIM card on Nokia phone and I could not reproduce the problem. Rogers sent me a replacement phone but it has exactly same problem.
I did not realize I had this problem until someone complaind and I did a test. Do you want to try making 50 calls to your phone and see if every one gives you a ring?
Any info/help would be appreciated.
Update: I tested in a different location and I received every single call. It is probably a network related issue.

[Q] Cellular Network Connection down sometimes?

Hey guys,
i bought an onlocked DVP in Germany, and since the last weeks the thingy is getting a bit strange, Phone is working fine.
But sometimes people can't get trough to me? Always Mailbox, sms don't arrive at my phone? Its on and showing that it has full network connection ....
anyone else has experienced that before? is it a bug in the hardware or is my service provider at fault ?
Thanks in advance
i asked my provider if the network has some technical difficulties but they are running fine.
is then something wrong with my phone?
again full network connection but calls don't come through to me ...
Sometimes I have to reboot phone to get things running again. Try that, I haven't had any other solutions.
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
Sometimes the network connection does switch between no connection/G/E/3G for me, radio is basically flaky.
i've never had a problem. I don't even think i've rebooted the phone ever ethier (other than updates).
Always have H.

Wifi calling - inconsistent with 8.1 Oreo - T-Mobile

I'm finding that WiFi calling stops working randomly. A reboot gets it to work properly again. I have my advanced call settings on Global and Wifi Preferred as my option.
Anyone else having this issue with Oreo 8.1 and T-Mobile?

I've had this issue since I upgraded to 8.1. I've been planning on doing a factory reset to see if it fixes the problem, but I really don't want to go through the hassle of setting everything up again.
I have no cell signal at my desk at work, so I use the WiFi calling often. However, I have noticed something rather strange. If I try to make a call or send a text, it will sometimes say something like "No WiFi network available". There have been a few times after it has done this that I have received a call on WiFi, and then it will work fine for a while. Otherwise, a restart fixes it.

Another thing that I noticed is that when on Wi-Fi calling, sometimes the phone will only ring once before a call goes to voicemail. Seems like there may be a delay in the call coming through. I generally have a good Wi-Fi connection, but like any Wi-Fi connection, it can come in and out occasionally.
I want to avoid a factory data reset as well.
I have the same problem Essential on Sprint
I am also experiencing this since the 8.1 upgrade, 8n T-mobile. Multiple networks that had WiFi calling pre-update are no longer functioning on either of our phones(wife and I both have them). I often work in a basement, so this is an important function for me.
