[HELP THREAD] Poco M3 Bricked (No Recovery, No Fastboot, ONLY EDL) - POCO M3 Questions & Answers

Hey guys! I made a newbie mistake by not using mi flash tool and use manual flashing using sdk fastboot and i dont know what mistake i did but im pretty sure i did something wrong. Bootloader is already unlocked and i have root access already. Right after i flashed a magisk patched boot file to give root access and booted it up. The wifi wasnt working and tried to flash a stock rom again hoping it will fix the wifi not turning on problem, but unfortunately i think i flashed wrong rom or something and it basically bricked. Cant boot to recovery nor fastboot. but mi flashtool and QFIL can detect it. Tried flashing stock rom that i downloaded from official website and Mi flash tool will always fail at authentication and it says "only nop and sig tag can be received before authentication" and other different errors like resdump(etc. cause i dont understand. I tried QFIL using test points i found on google. and it will say Sahara fail or sometimes "firehose fail fhloader fail the system cannot find the file specified". Im not really good at this and really regretting rooting it. I cant give it to Xiaomi Phone centers because i bought it from overseas and there are no xiaomi phone centers in my country.
Can someone with a kind heart help me with this problem? Thank you very much.

Hello! Sorry to say this, but it is pretty much dead. You are in EDL mode, which Xiaomi locked out and you need to have an authorized service account to unbrick it through Mi Flash. A free way to do this would have been to find a patched programmer file, but it doesn't exist yet. I recommend you to ask every phone service in your city if they have an authorized service account or if they have USB Dongles (like Miracle Box or Hydra) for unbricking.

Theres no other choice.. only service center could handle it..

What do you mean temporary solution?

Hi Everyone, Just wanted to share the solution that we found out. My Friend had his Poco M3 Bricked, dead boot. No recovery, No display(totally black screen) and when I plug it in via USB it shows "
Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 "Been here about a month ago hoping that there is a solution. We tried the rubber band Method(See the attached image how to do it) you just need a cotton buds and a rubber band. Just place the tip of the cotton bud into the power button and secure it with rubber band 2 knots. So it's pressing the power button that way it's draining the battery it took him 2 days to drain it, But once the battery is drained the Charging Icon will display in the screen. And you can charge it and wait for it to boot up. This worked for my Xiaomi Redmi 9T and my Friend Poco M3 bot uses MIUI 12. After it boot again try to Avoid restarting it and Shutting it down so this may never happen Again.

No, same will happen again. It was issue with my Poco M3 too.
Don't restart, recover your data to PC or other mobile. It's a firmware to motherboard issue. Same happened with me, the set was in warranty, I took it to warranty service centre and they replaced motherboard Free of cost, now it's working fine

For all those friends having Poco M3 and having brick issue. Battery drains in 5-7 days. Attempt restart, if successful, recover your data to PC or other mobile. It's a firmware to motherboard issue. For how much time does it work ? Is it a permanent fix ? The service center did the same for my Poco M3 (replacing motherboard) but I'm afraid it will go deadboot again one day.

After service centre motherboard replacement the set is working fine, it has updated Miui to 12.5 too. No more issues.

Hi, open ur phone again and check the display connector, try fully disconnecting it and reconnecting it and check if all other connectors in range are also properly connected. Then reassemble ur phone.
Next time, do not open your phone unless you really have to. I don't see why you have opened to reset it. You can press power for very long then after maybe 30 seconds or so, your phone will fully turn off. No need to open it for that.
Next time if you have a question, use the Q&A section, not this one. You'll get answers quicker there too.
Bricked or screen is broken
Without disassembling I was not able to detect my phone, after pin reseting phone was identified in windows. No recovery boot was working too... This is reason why I disassembled phone...
But thank you for reply..

Bricked Huawei Nova, please help

Hi everyone
I tried to updade my huawei nova CAN-L11C530B130 to CAN-L11C432B340
I think the copy/paste of the UPDATE.APP ****ed up beacause the transfer time was very short...Anyway the phone accepted the update but turned off after that.
Now I can't boot, no recovery, no download mode, not even a charging led light.
Please tell me there is a way besides RMA
Thank you very much :good:
Well, either there is no charge (try keeping it on charger for a few hours) or it is totally bricked based on what you said. If it is completely unresponsive there is really nothing you can do.
Boot loader doesnt start as well?
Thanks for your help
I tried an all night charching but It did not help, no boot loader either.
What about the version I had : CAN-L11C530, I don't find any results about it on the internet, strange right ?
When I plug the phone to my computer I get "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM3)"
You could try contacting Huawei support, their is a qualcomm flash tool. You need the tool and the rom to use it. I know it worked on the Nexus 5, but have seen nothing like it for us. I would try going to a shop and asking, but I do not know how viable that is for you.
Thank you wangdaning, it's very kind of you
I'm gonna leave the phone to the carrier who will send it to huawei.
I'm just surprised how easy it was to brick, I have a honor 8 and a mate 8 and it never happened.
I wonder if it comes down to it being a defective device. I have run circles of flashing on mine and it does not brick. I am running Lineage and even the build is not for my device. I have manually flashed partitions, wiped and reflashed partitions (in fastboot). I have made it unusable at times, but never bricked. It works fine now. Seems it might just be an unlucky bad unit you got. Hopefully you had all your stuff backed up and hopefully you get a unit that works well next time.

SM-950F Hard bricked, JTAG?

Hey
So I was flashing android 7.0 to an S8 and it completely died, this is how completely:
- No screen/LED/vibration motor
- No safety/recovery/download mode (and don't ask about button combos, I've tried them all)
- No USB recognition from device manager (not even as exynos in other devices, just nothing)
- USB jig does nothing
- It is however recognised by wireless chargers (but I doubt that has any real significance)
At this point my question is would a JTAG even work on it? Or is my only hope a complete motherboard replacement?

Jtag dead phone to life and rewrite IMEI
I had the same thing, sent it to Fonefunshop in England, they said they could fix it, the didn't even open it as discovered by the guys who fixed it and is necessary to use jtag.
Fonefunshop said eMMC chip was bad, which is not true, but that led me to search for someone to replace the chip. I found A2Z cellular in Ottawa, Canada. They got the phone to boot up, but IMMEI was null( I did this trying to flash back to stock after TWRP screwed up). They rewrote original IMEI , now phone works like new. These guys are amazing.
http://a2zcellular.com/
Thank you all for the advice.
But I have now managed to unbrick and reflash the firmware. khawarjaved's advice turned out to be what fixed it in the end.
That was close, nearly lost £30

Hi pros
I'm in kind of a similar situation....I think I flashed MY 950U PIE with wrong BL
This phone is dead....Doesn't boot...no download mode....No recovery mode....
When connected to pc....device manager Recognises device as QUALCOMM HS USB 9008
Any way to brig it back to life...?
Your phone is connected in edl download mod. It will accept special files which will allow it to boot to download mode and let you flash stock firmware
The tool used for this is emmcdl.exe
It has to come with phone specific files
No idea where to get it. Ask people here, those who root phones. They know.

That's not going to work, I had the same problem, you have to force the EDL mode with the test points on the motherboard.

This was same problem with me .So due to my was under warranty and I know opening phone(Because there is possibility that many Xiaomi Devices like redmi series , these devices can force device to edl mode by sorting points in board) may void warranty. So I don't consider to take risk and went to service centre and after 2 day they weren't able to recover ,that said if I would take risk to recover it wont happen just due to motherboard was damage due to partial flash and it also Fastboot and boot file thus device wasn't detecting or going into that mode .
My best recommendation is get repaired from service centre .BEFORE warranty is Void
I Got New Board with new IMEI and all new stuff.

if it is in warranty so I will resort to take it and they tell me, but take it to a technical service that can be solved, it hurts that here in Argentina there are not many who know or repair .....
A similar thing happened to me. I was flashing Pixel Experience (clean installed stock Oreo before that) and once the flashing finished and I switched to the partition it flashed to I was greeted with the Android One screen without the Unlocked message at the bottom. The phone wasn't even detected by my PC while in fastboot so I just went to the service center and told them it just got stuck like that after a system update. They fixed it and it was covered by the warranty.

Has anyone succeeded in repairing a bricked Poco M3?

My M3 was working perfectly. I put it to restart and then it didn't turn on anymore. It is now only recognized as "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008" on Windows. I opened the phone and with some magical combination (remove/connect flat cables from the battery and display, connect the USB cable, press volume keys and short the test points) it started in fastboot. So I was able to flash the "fastboot ROM". Unfortunately, on the next boot it still does not turn on normally. Has anyone succeeded in repairing the Poco M3? In Mi Flash is requested an authenticated account to flash through it, is it worth paying someone to provide the account? Does anyone have the contact of someone who makes cheap? Any help is welcome, thank you!

sorry, there's is no tutorial for this and it has a quite process. you just need to throttle the proc temperature of your phone board using hot blower or any device you have. while your phone is in high temp. both pin board and battery is in unplug hold vol down then put back the board pin and battery pin at the same time. it will vibrate and fastboot will be fine.
Guys this is my procedure to turn on the phone:
I can make it turn on Android after messing with the battery and sub-board cables but this is just a workahound, trying to turn it on normally through the power button always makes it turn on in edl mode
But opening the device voids the warranty, so anyone who has access to a repair center is better off asking for the warranty
What to do:
1. Disconnect the battery cable and the secondary board cable.
2. Connect charger.
3. Hold the power button.
4. Connect the secondary board cable and quickly connect the battery cable.
5. Release the power button when the device vibrates.
It doesn't always work the first time, you may need several tries to get it
