Op8P on Verizon - OnePlus 8 Pro Questions & Answers

Hey y'all I just ordered a OnePlus 8 pro from OnePlus. Just curious on feedback from Verizon users of there's anything of note, including ROMs not working. Had a OnePlus 7pro and there were some ROMs that didn't always work on that network. Thanks!

Best bet would be reading the thread of the ROMs you are interested in. I don't think many ROMs play nice with Verizon

Could anyone please answer my 2 questions
1) How is the custom Rom support for OnePlus devices?(XDA and elsewhere)
2) I am planning to buy OP3, what are your thoughts on this?

1. Just check similar forums fpr OP2. I'm in the same boat to get rid of my Nexus 5 and get OP3. As far as I understood, there is MultiROM support as well whole bunch of AOSP ROMs fo OP2. I would think it's safe bet to expect the same for OP3.
2. Looking on the specs itself - looks it should be great phone.

yes it is. Only part that worries the most is the software. Specs are top notch.
mind you - we're on xda, where devs cooking ROMs. And that's awesome that there is such website

Indeed it is. I own Samsung S3 dated back to 2012. I still can use Marshmallow only because of XDA!.

Redmi 4 Prime Global version

Hello,
does anyone here know anything about if the Global version will be released and when (same as what Redmi 3S has)? I tried to Google it but all I found was so many threads about Global ROM, which I don't even understand what is (and certainly it doesn't have anything to do with HW supported LTE bands, does it?)
I would mostly need LTE b20 (Czech Republic)
Thanks

4X would be better, wouldn't it? I am torn apart between buying this or waiting (indefinitely) until the 4 Prime global comes out, because I can't take any of this dumbphone (Microsoft Nokia number something) stuff anymore - texting on the numerical keyboard, lack of multitasking... It can't even lock keyboard when an app is open...
Thanks for the reply though

I'v been looking at Moto G5 (normal variant) and it also looks very good in the price range. Is it? (sorry for the off topic, I don't wanna open another thread just to ask "is moto g5 good"? )

The G5 has basically the same SoC. If you are interested in modding and roms, go for the Moto. They release working sources fast, and every device has an official LineageOS.

@tslnox Could you tell me something about the audio quality of the redmi 4x, please? That's the only thing that matters to me because i listen to a ton of music with my headphones, I don't care about camera or other stuff. Let me know when you get it!
ps. Where do you buy it? and how much does it cost? I found out the 32gb version at 127€

I bought it in Czech Republic, so the pricing is different, I had it for 4900CZK or cca 185€ with cheap tempered glass as a "gift". I'll answer you when I try listening to some music, I just put the SIM in and connected charger. I hope they will create 4X subforum soon, as now we are technically spamming wrong forum.

Best stable ROM for T-Mobile?

I'm on the October 2017 update for TMO with my Nexus 6. Having issues with camera slowness and some all-round sluggishness. Did the full factory reset thing about 3 months ago but it didn't really help much. So I'm wondering if flashing a DEV ROM will help. And which ROM? I need VOLTE / USA TMO support. Stability and usability are more important than raw speed or latest & greatest. Reading through the threads, there's clearly a LOT to choose from. Am I right that none of the PIE ROMs do VOLTE for TMO correctly? Anyways, long live Shamu.
Recommendations?
This is the ROM I recommend; https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/development/aosip-8-1-official-t3801408.
If you want to stay on 7.1, I would use this; https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/development/rom-5-1lightromstock-lmy47e-03-19-2015-t3059493.
I would remind you that the battery in your N6 is about 4-5 years old so replacing it would be in order.

Sounds good. So it fully supports TMO VOLTE? I went to the ROM thread and didn't see it specifically mentioned. I know you're right about the battery. I need to find someone to do that. Any recommendations? I've had mixed success opening cameras, phones & tablets up to do ****. I've gone from hero to goat.

here is a link and a how-to for the battery.

Are we going to get custom roms?

Has any developer started with los and other custom roms? I can find any thread in roms and kernel section.
The phone only just came out, you need to be patient. Its not as popular as the PRO.
So far I have seen that a Mokee developer is working on it : https://github.com/davinci-dev
I will be waiting on some quality roms before buying this phone.
There's a lot of developer activity on the k20 pro forum the past few days, so hopefully the regular k20/mi 9t gets some attention too. My mi 9t should be arriving this week, and I really don't want to have to use MIUI forever.
I think at the end, the better choice to avoid problems, is to leave the global from the day of purchase

miui is trash, and im not going to buy the phone if there are no alternatives.
I notice that it's not popular as the Pro and i think there will no be change about this, every day there are new rom, new update with the K20 Pro but not K20
K20 is equally popular but problem is broken kernel try hence once it is fixed we will surly get roms and kernels

what happened to the development on the OnePlus 7t pro McLaren 5G?

One of my favorite parts of OnePlus was always the development supported to the devices. I've always used and flashed as many rounds as possible for whatever device I've ever had. So I went to T-Mobile and bought the OnePlus 70 pro 5G McLaren or McLaren 5G. and somehow the fact that I got a specialty phone put me in an area where I can't take advantage of any of the ROMs in development for the device.this is a time when I wish I would have developed and compiled my own ROMs I'm sure I could figure it out but we need help over here.

That is why I am thinking of eBay'ing mine and getting a non-carrier 8 Pro - IF it has the proper setup of frequencies for US Tmo, as it appears it does. This should make rooting, updates and development to be much easier
Yeah thats an idea I haven't thought of. I was actually looking into buying a 7t. There's at least an international unlocking method for it.
What happened with this device? I dont understand why there is 0 rom's. If it is the 5G, I would think that is not an issue. I am sure most people would dump 5G for Custom Rom's. I am not sure where to start to figure this out. Lineage OS supports the other variants of this device.
I think the HD1925 just wasn't a big seller, maybe to be expected as an early adopter 5g phone, specific to USA and T-Mobile, that has already been eclipsed. It was a modification of an existing phone that was reasonably successful, but it's different enough that ROMs for the other variants don't work.
I would not expect much future development, if you like Oxygen and stock ROM then it will be fine, rooting and Magisk are possible and can give you a lot of options for customizing. If true custom ROMs like LineageOS are important to you, I'd probably get something else.
It would be nice to at least get TWRP for this thing. I am going to be getting rid of mine and trying to find another phone that doesn't stifle development. Sad because I really do like the phone.

I'm trying to get a 8 Pro for that reason, but OnePlus is driving me and many others nuts. Then this one will be on eBay - but only after the 8 is setup.
TWRP is nowhere near ready for all newer devices that shipped with Android 10. Probably later in 2020.
And to make matters worst, we will not be able to take full advantage of 5G due to a lack of support for some of the freq's.
Supposedly we should see band 41 via an update eventually so really the only bands missing from the 5g McLaren are mmwave which are useless outside of a stadium or metropolitan area so once we get the midband update things will improve speed and signalwise...
i ordered a demo mode mclaren today. i do officials for aosip on mix 3. im gonna be looking into doing development for this phone if i can somehow hack it out of demo mode and get tmo to unlock sim/bootloader for me.

Is this normal? I've been trying to join this group to no avail..
So far I've tried.
1. resetprop persist.radio.multisim.config dsds
This enabled the second sim to show up in sim settings. It also grays out the sim1 and does not allow any changes to it.
2. Used the manifest.xml from https://forum.xda-developers.com/7t-pro/how-to/oneplus-7t-pro-mclaren-5g-dev-starts-t4028815/page8
Created a magisk module to copy this manifest.xml during boot and nothing changed in terms of sim. The build.props file did not have persist.radio.multisim.config after putting this file in.
Any updates from the telegram group? Love to see Dual Sim in action.
