Well the first rule when unlocking a device is to never lock the device unless it's full stock like you just flashed it. You should be able to hold the 3 buttons together (called a 3 finger salute) and get into fastboot to unlock it again. If it was a hard brick, there would be no life to it at all. As long as it is recognized in fastboot then it's not a brick. Good thing there are binaries lol

Would it be possible to flash a dev ROM with the stock recovery replaced with TWRP using this method? I'm keen to avoid all the hassle associated with unlocking the bootloader.

This method is very important for those with locked bootloader. Can anyone else confirm that it works ??
i can confirm that it enters in edl mode..chk this
doesn't work
Need confirmation from more users, whether this method works or not.
Thank you in advance.
Yes it work if you have unlock bootloader.
if you don't feel like downloading, the command to get into EDL is:
fastboot oem edl
Will it work on Snapdragon variant without unlocking bootloader
not working on 2017 edition... must open the backdoor case to do edl
Have you tried it or just saying?

He wrote that : "tested by me'', not sure tho.
confirm not working on device with lock bootloader
This doesn't work unless your bootloader is unlocked
If anyone is thinking they can root their device via this method, it's not gonna happen. cuz edl in 4X requires unlocked bootloaders or sorting tow points on motherboard. some people says they can make edl cable for 4X but I've not tested it by myself

Hey there...
Had same problem.
When issue command fastboot oem unlock, it reboots straight to recovery.
However I used second recovery method from here
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/...ck-guide-for-a-hard-bricked-oneplus-2.347607/
And it restored everything to stock with locked bootloader.
Now unlock the bootloader like normally would.
Note u need to have the drivers installed.
Hope it works for u.

Hi. I have got a problem. I currently have a lg nexus 4 . i accidently installed twrp in boot. so every time i open my phone twrp comes. and half of my touch screen does not work. so i can't fully swipe to install roms and cant type certain lettrs in keyboard in terminal and the bootloader is locked. so how do i get out of this . any help will be greatly appreciated . How is your bootloader locked while having TWRP installed? Boot to bootloader and unlock it again. Then proceed with flashing the stock image.

use fastboot, first unlock the bootloader with code fastboot oem unlock, then move the kernel of your android version to the fastboot folder and flash it on the boot partition, with the code fastboot flash boot boot.img, that's all.

Maybe a bricked phone

Hey guys, I need some help. I searched a lot and didn't find nothing that looks like my problem.
I had a OP5 with Magisk root and tried to back it to stock. Then I flashed OnePlus recovery again, wiped everything and install 5.1.3 again. Everything ok until I made some dumb ****.
I tried to re-lock my bootloader and now my phone says that it won't boot up because it's corrupted. I can boot into both recovery and fastboot but I can't install anything (I can only install through ADB sideload and it says install failed) and I can't re-unlock my bootloader because it says remote: Flashing Unlock is not allowed cant boot (but I can't boot so I can't enable oem unlock through developer menu).
There is anything that I can do to make my phone boot again?
Thanks in advance.

Thank u, killerex. Just one doubt: I see on the post about the tool that I need to have OEM unlocking enabled but, as I said, I can't do this since I can't boot. I can use this tool to flash Oxygen OS even with OEM unlocking disabled? And, if yes, how do I do, just flash the zip using the tool while in recovery?

in fastboot mode, use fastboot command to flash new recovery and then install new rom in recovery. You can also use adb sideload in recovery.

No problems, my english is not that good too. Just one more question: there's any difference if I go to fastboot through the tool or the power option (vol up + power), because since I can only boot my phone in fastboot or recovery there is no way to go to fastboot using the tool (I guess)

You need to use the Qualcomm tool if it's that bad :

If the device can be seen by a computer, reflash the factory image. If not, no idea.
Dear friend if you have no OS installed and the Bootloader blocked the only thing you can try is using an OTG cable and a flash memory to download the latest version of the factory image but OTA and copy it to the flash memory and try to flash it from the stock recovery

Can you boot to bootloader? (With the device powered off, hold Volume Down + Power)
Then run
Code:
fastboot devices
If you see your mobile then you should be able to flash the factory ROM.

No worries. Normally I wouldn't dig into it... but who knows, next time could be me in the same spot.
If you can boot using twrp then you can get adb shell with root, right?
Code:

I'm getting
[ro.oem_unlock_supported]: [1]
[sys.oem_unlock_allowed]: [1]

I'm wondering if you set those props to 1 maybe you'll be able to flash images again.
Code:
adb -d shell setprop ro.oem_unlock_supported 1
adb -d shell setprop sys.oem_unlock_allowed 1
...
Spending way more time than I should lol...
