Accidentally wiped Internal Storage in TWRP... Any possible fix to get partitions or anything back? - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

I attempted to install LineageOS 17.1 on my Mi A1, but while wiping storage, I accidentally also clicked Internal Storage and wiped it too. Now, I tried to restore my backup but when I go to restart to turn on my Mi A1, it gets stuck in a boot loop. I also tried using XiaoMiFlash and the original ROM to get all the firmware settings to stock. Now, I tried also installing custom ROM again, LineageOS 17.1 but it also gets stuck in a boot loop. Is there anything else I can do?? I'm very frustrated... I hope my device isn't completely bricked. Any help is appreciated.

I have already tried that, the only issue now is that the Custom ROM after installing (LineageOS 17.1) will not boot properly. Maybe this is because I skipped TWRP Recovery? Well, I don't know why but TWRP Recovery zip will not copy into phone storage. it is originally .img file, but the guide I'm following has .zip file so I converted into zip via Windows Explorer (file manager). But, it does not copy and when I use img to zip website converter iand it does copy, but it says "invalid zip file format" once flashing.
One thing I should note, the backup does work now. I had a typo when making the folder so it wouldn't work. Backup does work now, but something really stupid is happening. When I go to turn on screen lock, it will keep looping me into "which type do you want to choose, fingerprint + pin, password, pattern" after completing the process. If I don't choose fingerprint, it finishes but the screen lock isn't effective. Any help on this?

You cannot just convert that image file into a zip file like that.
Where did you get that twrp file from?
If you want to install twrp, you need to flash the twrp.img file via fastboot, then sideload the twrp.zip via trwp.
(maybe just flashing the img file works too, but I often read that you have to do both).

[Q] [i9505] Possibly bricked or TWRP messed it up [SOLVED!]

I've had problems with my phone for a while now, no stable roms or mods, phone doesn't wake up from deep sleep, lagg....
So I got in to recovery mode (latest TWRP) a few hours ago and I got asked for a password? :S didn't know that TWRP had a protection function.. I pressed BACK and that was that, I got in to the menu and pressed INSTALL but the SDCARD was empty?
Using the filemanager in TWRP the internal SDCARD was still empty, but the microsd worked fine.
After rebooting the phone I got stuck on the sgs4 screen, so the rom didn't boot.
I went back to recovery and wiped everything possible and formatted the sdcard, afterward I installed a rom and rebooted.
Still the same problem, got stuck on the sgs4 screen.
In TWRP the sdcard was still empty. So I downloaded a odin flashable rom and flashed the phone through odin but got stuck at the same place.
I now have the stock recovery and when selecting "apply update from external storage", I get the error message:
"E:failed to mount /sdcard (No such file or directory)"
Is there any function in a TWRP/CWM or modded recovery that can fix the internal sdcard?
Or perhaps repartition everything?
Just to let everyone know, the flashing in odin and TWRP worked as usual, so the system/data etc partition as fine.
Guess it's the sdcard partition that's corrupted OR if TWRP somehow locked the sdcard because I didn't enter a password?
I could be wrong but then I'm completely clueless.
Appreciate some help, thanks!
EDIT: [SOLUTION]
Since there is no way to use adb in recoverymode or downloadmode (I wasn't able to), you need to use odin.
1. Enter download mode and flash a clean rom through odin.
2. Enter download mode again and flash TWRP through odin.
3. Wipe DATA through TWRP and reboot.
4. Factory Reset through TWRP and reboot.
5. Done.
Seems like this is the wrong place to ask, but I think I found the problem.
It was TWRP with their "password protection" that cause the problem.
Downgrading to other versions wont help as it did for others with the transformer pad.
I did a search for "TWRP PASSWORD" and it looks like TWRP has a bug.
This is what I get in TWRP:
E:Mount: Unable to find partition for path '/sdcard'
EUnMount: Unable to find partition for path '/sdcard'
This is definitely the last time I'll use TWRP.
When flashing CWM, I'm unable to boot into recovery, only works with TWRP..
I'll keep posting here until I solve this if anyone get the same problem.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44007919&postcount=1
In the link above, someone manage to fix their phone with the same problem I have, even though it's the nexus7.
So what I've learned is that I shouldn't let TWRP root my phone.
I need a system.img file, could it be just the system parititon? Don't know how to get that file, so could use some help.
EDIT:
I'm going to unpack a odin package, found a system.img.ext4 in there, guess that wont help so have to find one with stock filesystem.

Bricked (No OS installed, Only TWRP)

Title explains it all, I recently installed TWRP so I could edit build.prop to get the google assistant. It worked btw, but I wanted to flash the pixel launcher and when I did, I rebooted and it gave me: encryption unsuccessful. I read online that i should just say yes and just wipe cache in twrp. It asked for a password in TWRP so i pressed cancel and I wiped cache. Boom! I was stuck in a TWRP bootloop. Now I tried to wipe everything but I wiped /system. Somebody please please please help me!
As long as you have access to TWRP you should be able to recover. If you need to restore the system partition you could use this DEODEX version. Follow thread instructions (download RAR, extract system.img, load to SD and flash via TWRP).

I FIXED IT! I am making a thread later on how I did it!
Fixed this by restoring stock recovery.img.
Of course I lost TWRP and root, but it's progress.

HELP URGENT! - I tried rooting my LG G6 (TWRP and Magisk)

I tried rooting my phone using TWRP and Magisk and at some point my OS was deleted.
Got a warning from TWRP satying "No OS" while trying to reboot.
At first the phone wouldnt start at all but now i've ended up with it only launching into TWRP every time i try to launch whether in Recovery Mode or not.
I have no idea what to do and need help. Please.
I believe i need a fresh install of Android but i have no idea how to do this
All you have to do is flash a ROM from within TWRP. It's relatively straight forward.
Pick appropriate ROM for your device: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g6/development
Download the zip file, put it on an SD card or USB-C drive
Insert card/drive into your G6
Click "install" in TWRP, select the zip file
Flash and then reboot
Should be it. Follow the instructions for your particular ROM.

HELP! SM -G901F, TWRP can't find storage partition to mount

Guys this is help less.
After rooting my device I followed some instructions to get the Lineage 14. I flashed a BootLoader and a Modem as instructed and went forth to mount USB in order to transfer the custom rom into the device. But this is where the problem is.
It says E: Cant find partition to mount storage. I've tried to reboot, wide, data, storage, system and cache and repair the partition I don't know what else to do.
Anyone else can help? Btw I am fairly new to this stuff so please dumb it down for me.
Another thing, when I go to reboot my recovery it says my device isn't rooted and asks to install superSu, however it was rooted before I entered download mode and started installing bootloader and modem.
Now I have no operating system in the device so i can literally only use Recovery or download mode.
Is my device bricked? I don't know. :crying: :crying:

If you can boot recovery, all is not lost.
First, are you sure that you flashed the correct bootloader/modem for your s5 model (G900 T, P, V, F, etc? Odin should not let you flash the wrong one, but anything is possible.
If Bl/modem is correct, them the next thing is to get the custom rom onto the phone.
-make sure you have downloaded everything you need (rom, root method(pref Magisk), gapps if wanted)
- boot into recovery, I'm recommending and assuming that you are using the latest Twrp, if not, d/l official Twrp for your model, and flash that with Odin
-In twrp select wipe, format data, just in case.
-now you should be able to mount usb storage, using the option in twrp
- now you should be able to mount your phone to your PC and transfer the rom, put it somewhere easy to find on the phone. also copy gapps and Magisk zips
-now, still in twrp, select install, select rom zip, select add more, select Magisk zip, also flash gapps at this time if you want to use them.
-click the button to flash
-click wipe cache/dalvik
-click reboot
-pray ?

Hey man! Thank you so much for your reply. I installed CPE1 bootloader and modem driver, honestly I don't even know what they do. Was this a wrong thing to do?
I rooted my device using cf auto root, then flashed the bootloader and modem using Odin. After that I (stupidly) tried to boot my stock OS and it was stuck in a bootloop.
Unfortunately I won't be able to try your instructions this till tomorrow evening but I'll keep you posted!! do you mind if I pm?
Edit: I was using twrp 2.8.7 I believe, could this have been the problem? Also I updated twrp to latest and tried micro sd as storage and flashed a Rom but the phone is still bootlooping

Ok I see you have S5 plus. I'm not familiar with that device to know which baseband it should be.
One thing you might try is to boot recovery and clear cache/dalvik and then try booting the custom rom.
If all else fails, you might try Samfirm
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/tool-samfirm-samsung-firmware-t2988647
That should give you a stock firmware file to flash with odin.
You can pm if you need to, I don't own an S5+, nor am I a veteran flasher but I will try to help if I can.

Ok sorry I couldn't be more help
Oh, you don't need to use of cfautoroot anymore, you can just flash Magisk after the rom, and then use Magisk manager to manage all your root permissions.
So if you are going back to stock, I would:
-Flash stock in Odin
-probably boot stock once to verify (first boot takes long)
-odin flash latest twrp(uncheck auto-reboot, just battery pull after it says pass)
-power on phone with key combo to boot recovery
- format data
-flash rom/gapps?/Magisk
-wipe cache/dalvik
-reboot system (first boot will take long)
Hope you get your phone working again

Good News! Phone is back in full working order after flashing stock firmware. It was kinda scary though, I had to fix an error in Odin and then the phone wouldn't even boot up! Left it over night, booted it again and it worked fine Thanks a lot for your help, I'll try not to soft brick my device again

It just won't boot. You can still recover from this by enabling the setting in twrp and reformatting data.
You will lose data regardless of this being enabled because this is only used for formatting data. That's what formatting data does

can I install shrp recovery zip and then miui12...
what I will do is -->
1. install this recovery in b slot through minimal adb
2. boot in twrp
3. install shrp recovery zip file (phone is still in b-slot)
4. change slot to a
5. reboot recovery
6. format data
7. install miui12
8. reboot
will this steps safely boot my device???
hello. first thank you very much for your hard work. i really apreciate.
so, i was on stock rom, freshly unlock the bootloader and flash twrp unofficial for android 10.
then in twrp i flash the zip installer and reboot to recovery.
once again in twrp i, like i'm use to, wipe successfully dalvik/system/data to erased all of stock rom.
then i format data (the one typing "yes" for confirmation) but it broke internal storage.
twrp does not show any file or folders. i rebooti in recovery but it won't show anything
i reflash twrp and the same... nothing.
so i went to fastboot mode and flash shrp, boot up in recovery but it was still not showing files or folders of internal storage. i wipe dalvik/system/data and reboot to recovey.
and this time it show folder but with codes like "QRGHQ9R4HGVUQE4RNG98TH9324HTG923" OR "66EFQ3KFK4TK34KT3K4K34K2KK2" and so...
what do i 'm doing wrong?
can i format data with out breaking internal storage?
the only thing i can do to get internal storage was flash stock rom again, i have not encrypted anything, i don't use microsd card, even i don't use password to unlock screen.
thanks in advance for your comments.

Ok you performed Format > And type "Yes" , actually this will Format your internal storage as well, RIP for your Data now else you took a backup earlier.
Now connect your phone to your PC with data cable , in mount section check if MTP is enabled if not then enable it , now your phone's internal storage shows in PC transfer Rom flash Zip files to internal storage, disconnect from PC and flash that rom.
Recovery choice is yours SHRP or TWRP
Note - Do not perform format > yes before flashing that zip.

Not able to flash recovery
I am on the latest stock android patch, probably that's why not able to flash recovery.
First I tried TWRP 3.3.1-2 Unofficial by Nikesh Kataria from the other post. As it said it supported android 10 with decryption and everything. But it didn't work.
Now with version 3.4.0-0, I am able to boot into recovery using platform-tools. But the files in /sdcard seems to be encrypted (judging by the codes shown instead of readable folder names).
Could someone please help me suggest any recovery which supports latest stock android 10 with decryption?
Is there a way around this?

Decryption will only work if you format data first. This is with every recovery. Has to be a factory reset of stock ROM or fresh install of custom ROM and from then twrp will be able to decrypt if it is installed, you're not installing it either by the way just temporarily installing it to inactive slot which will get wiped on reboot. For twrp to decrypt you must install it using the installer.zip by flashing it in you're temporarily installed twrp.img

Thanks for the help.
But after booting into twrp, how do I install twrp.zip. I even tried sideload that also errors out "Unable to find partition for path /cache".
May be I am missing some step. But here is what I have done.
Unlocked bootloader.
Booted into TWRP on inactive_slot(i.e. slot_b , in my case) with command fastboot flash boot twrp.img
Trying to install twrp.zip (failing at this step itself).
