Maybe you don't need to be "Root-boy"?
Also, wrong forum subfolder to ask this

Necessary for me to be root. For app I use.
Sorry for the subfolder. My mistake

To obtain root you would need to use fastboot.
First, you need to... Oh well, just read instruction: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...very-with-adb-11-0-4-4-in11aa-global.4196153/

Linux + sync

Hi!
I love my EXEC. I'm really impressed with this toy- but..
1. I do not like MS (like we can see WM2005 is NOT tested, IS slow, IS buggy, IS TOO EXPENSIVE -btw why do I have to pay for soft if i do not want to use it luke O2000?) so how do you sync your Universal with Linux? Which app is the best? How you put files into your PDA? How to install EXE? Wine seems to be not working- but not tested this well yet...
Why ActiveSync is only for windows?
O, one more question- WHY I've to install soft for my PDA using WINDOWS???? AAAAAAAAA!! Every time I've to ask my freind to use his laptop "just for 3 min". Ofcourse he is always asking "ooo, Linux is not good enough? ROTFL"
2. Have some one tried to install ANY Linux on Universal?
Googled for soem time- but notthing interesting so far...
Thanks in advance for any help!
Cheers

Need Help Rooting, Really Confused!

Guys I have Nexus S i9020T runnig Android version 2.3.4, Baseband version I9020XXKD1, Build number GRJ22. I have looked around a lot and am confused on how to root my phone, is there any simple way of rooting my phone with super user? I run a very old PC so installing the sdk is pretty hard, so could anyone give me a step by step simple tutorial? This is my first Android phone and am a complete noob at this
Did you read the sticky yet?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1007782
It's a step-by-step tutorial and exactly how you should do it.
The SDK shouldn't really be a strain for your PC.
Good luck,
Greetz
You don't need the entire SDK. Grab PDAnet USB divers and then choose to download just the 2.3.3 SDK and Google USB drivers from the SDK. Worked fine for me this way. You don't need all the stuff the SDK wants to install by default.

Yes that guide works regardless of what Android version you're using because Android version is not a factor. It's the bootloader.
No, it is impossible to root without the SDK because you have to unlock the bootloader using the SDK. You won't get stuck at the Google screen. People are messing up because they're unable to follow instructions.

I've helped people in this topic many times.
The easiest way I can say is to first download the Android SDK listed in that step-by-step thread. It's not that difficult and you shouldn't be scared to do it. Unless you're flashing something for another model of the phone (such as NS4G) everything should be fixable.
Download http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html to your respective OS. If its for windows, I know it says recommended for exe but I prefer using the .zip version of it. So download that first if you haven't already.

If your internet is really slow and you have to download ROMs after rooting. It might be rough on your end because ROMs are at least ~80MB+

Don't know why you're downloading the JDK but okay. Extract it and rename the folder android-sdk-windows-r12 to /sdk/ and place it on the root of your C drive. So it'd be located in C:\sdk\
You need to put your phone into bootloader mode (while phone is off; VOL UP + Power) while plugged in. Do what the instructions say and set up the drivers.
The step-by-step guide is self-explanatory. I don't really want to paraphrase what the guide says because it's pretty simple. Follow the guide you linked earlier and tell me if you experience any problems or have problems understanding what is being asked.
Edit: In part 2, where it says:
switch to the directory where you downloaded & unzipped the ..\android-sdk-windows\tools

It'll be cd C:\sdk\tools\
(I rename it to sdk because its easier to type than android-sdk-windows-
Edit 2: In part 2 where it tells you to get clockwork 3.0.0.5, disregard that
download: http://www.mediafire.com/?y3is5c9n5fi1sd6 instead
when you finish downloading it, place it in C:\sdk\tools\
and type:
fastboot flash recovery 4002-orange.img

This is a newer version of the Recovery and it should function better.

try these things, this is just an quote of what I have found,
USB cable is not broken? Are you connected?
· Do you have installed the driver?
· DLL or thing that is compatible with the tot you are using?
· Flash Tool Are you running with administrator privileges? (You can run as an administrator by right-clicking)
Do you put in · Download Mode? You may have already confirmed, but please try to check the above points.
Somebody with the same problem as you said that he fixed it with replacing his usb cable.

I just blew the dust off my 950 and updated to latest arm64 build. It's a bit smoother. Better. It's good.
