VS995 Stuck in EDL 9008 or just vibrates, have firehose, how to recover? - LG V20 Questions & Answers

I was running Rooted Stock 20c when I discovered my IR wasn't working. I tried to flash another ROM to get it working, but something went wrong and the phone stopped booting. When I plugged it into my Linux PC (Manjaro Cinnamon) it showed up as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLOAD (9008) and refused to boot into recovery or download. I found this EDL utility and the VS995 firehose and was able to manually flash partition images extracted from KDZ files from lg-firmwares.com, as well as partition images contained in certain rooted stock-based ROMs. Unfortunately all of the stock images just autoboot into EDL, and the furthest I've gotten from the rooted images is making the phone vibrate (either repeatedly or continuously, depending on which rooted images I flash) upon being plugged in. The screen doesn't come on, it won't boot laf/download, fastboot, or recovery, and the computer doesn't detect it. Does anyone have any idea what I can do to get my phone working again?
I've tried flashing 12A, 13A, 1CA, and 20C stock images from lg-firmwares.com, as well as the images contained in the rooted stock ROM linked above, the images from Alpha Omega 20C, Alpha Omega Hybrid, and the Oreo-Nougat downgrade zip provided by the AO developer. For the stock images, I unpack them with KDZTools.
Also, when I plug the phone into a computer with no battery, it vibrates once, then the LCD turns on and displays a bit of static at the bottom of the screen. The computer does not detect it.

I figured out how to fix it and wrote a guide on how to do so, which can be accessed at this forum post I made.

[GUIDE] Root without flashing custom recovery

With Lollipop just around the corner, I'm guessing some will be reverting back to stock to get the OTA update. This is for those guys that still want root and be able to get the OTA and have it actually work. Installing SuperSU from the Play Store doesn't work if you haven't rooted your device already.
I'm not going to get into specifics about unlocking your bootloader, going back to stock, adb and drivers. All of these should be done if you reverted back to stock.
Go ahead and download the latest SuperSU here from your tablet.
Download a custom recovery on your computer. I used TWRP 2.7.1.1. Place the .img you downloaded in your adb folder (\android-sdk). You can rename if you want. For sake of this guide, let's say I renamed it twrp.
Reboot into bootloader. To make sure everything is connected, why not run:
fastboot devices
Then run (if everything is connected of course):
fastboot boot twrp.img
Let it do its thing. Sooner or later you'll have TWRP pop-up on your tablet.
*Note: You're simply downloading and booting from the image on your computer. This isn't flashing the recovery on your tablet.
Make sure it mounted (I had no problems) and flash SuperSU like you would anything else in recovery.
This worked for me. Right before this, I reverted back to stock using comminus' guide, left my tablet unlocked, booted, checked USB Debugging and Unknown Sources (not sure if this matters) and did this method and I have root.
Hope this helps. :good:
And just because it's cute and funny...:victory:

Can't Flash anything via MiFlash.

Hi all. I've a trouble. First of all my device is US model. I'm using W10 x64 and MiFlash see my device.
I installed PureNexus but didn't like it and reboot recovery mode from power menu but TWRP didn't boot up. I couldn't boot system, bootloader, TWRP. Just EDL.
I try flash TWRP from EDL via MiFlash but it stucks on this steps.

Hi there,
Not an expert, but what helped me in a similar situation was running MiFlash as 'Admin'...
Hopefully that helps
I had the exact same problem before. I gave up walked away untill the next day, tried it again and it worked. Dunno what I made differently.

Samsung Note-3 N9000q stuck at initializing while flashing with odin

My n9000q started to stuck at black screen after samsung logo when booted. I tried to flash twrp recovery from odin to recover my files via backup. But after i tried to flash with odin it stuck at initializing. I tried different versions of odin but non of them work. Now i can't enter stock recovery either. How can i get past that initializing problem ?
Please tell what you did and what firmware etc .
as i say i tried to flash twrp3.2.1-0-ha3g with odin 3.09 with auto reboot and f.reset time checked re-partition unchecked. I don't know about firmware model and i don't how to check now while device is softbricked.
Try an older 2.8 TWRP.
The model number will be shown on the screen with the phone in download mode.
Post a screen shot or Odin log. These items are very helpful when helping other XDA members.
Model number is sm-n9000q never updated firmware before. As suggested i tried older twrp (2.7.1.0 and 2.8.5.0) it didn't work either.

What TWRP was on the phone before problem.
before problem it had stock recovery no twrp. The phone is full stock before.
Sorry I read OP recover files through backup and assumed backup =TWRP.
I tried but didn't succeed :/
All I can suggest is try different USB cables and USB ports.
Did you have a look through this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...elopment/recovery-official-twrp-ha3g-t3406899 ?
I look through that post and tried other ports and cables but none of them worked.

SM-T580 Stuck in Installing System Update loop

Hi all,
My Wife's tablet seem to be stuck in somesort of system update loop.
I can't seem to put it into recovery mode using
HOME + Volume up + POWER
I can put the tablet in DOWNLOAD mode using HOME + Volume down + POWER, but my PC does not seem to detect the tablet
Using OdinV3 3,14 with the Samsung USB drivers installed.
Is the tablet a lost cause or can i try something else to fix it?
Here is a screenshot what i see on the screen for a brief moment before it reboots.

But reading the manual, it instruct me to enable OEM unluck in developer options. But this is something i cannot do because the device won't boot
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...overy-official-twrp-gtaxlwifi-galaxy-t3437666
What should i do?
=========================================
====Edit2
So I found me some firmware for my device from sammobile, I hope I can use Odin to flash this on the tablet

=====
======EDIT3
So the flash process was stuck in hthe initialization phase for to long and I decided to unplug the device and try again. Now don't ask me why but this time the device automatically booted up in recovery mode and I was able to factory reset the device. It now boots up fine... Can someone explain what is going on? All seems fine now.
Kind regards,
Maniak

LG G2 Stuck on download mode showing weird message

Hey, so the problem with my LG g2 started when it randomly got stuck boot looping. it was never rooted and it was not customized in any form. i had updated the android to lolipop when it came out and it was working just fine for 7+ years.
when it got stuck in bootloop it would sometimes randomly boot and stay on for 2 or 3 hours and then again would go back to bootlooping. thought it could be a software problem so i tried installing frimwares (stock lolipop with higher version) with both lg repair tool 2014 and lgup. installed the dll for lgup, extracted dll from KDZ as well. installed the latest lg drivers and nothing would happen. i could eventually install the firmware with lg repair tool 2014 for once since it would get stuck at 4% and give me an error. after the successful install of new firmware the phone booted up and worked for a few hours and again bootloop happened. so thought maybe i should downgrade the firmware to kitkat. this time i was able to install it via lgup. it restarted the phone and while restarting it finished the installation. then it got stuck to download mode. its on download mode even if its not plugged to the computer. the weird part is that when i click the up and down button at the same time it will give me a message. the message saying "if you want.." in red. and it have to be on download mode and unplugged to show this message.
here is the image:

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
so first problem is that the phone would bootloop and now it's stuck in download mode with the weird message. any help or ideas would be appreciated.
Edit: lgup performed the second installation (kitkat) and after that i realized it rooted the device as well.
