Where do you guys source your batteries? - Moto G4 Questions & Answers

My mother's old OEM battery has been slowly deteriorating, and today she found it doing a fantastic impression of a hot pocket. No more putting it off, I guess.
Anyone have a source of relatively recently-manufactured batteries? I suspect most of them on ebay are either 2016-vintage or undersized (tried replacing hers before and came up with the latter), and the one seller I found advertising more recent (2019) is...in Australia.
I'm also willing to extract the protection board from the old one and attach it to a more recent phone's battery, if that's a thing with the g4.

Dodgy electrical connections

My XDA is a great device, I've been using it since O2 first released these things (Yes, I was one of the fools who paid the original £500....) and its recently been given a new lease of life by the great work people have done on this forum
My problem is.... obviously its getting on a little now and the connections for charging seem to be dirty/tarnished, if I "wiggle" things it works fine. This seems to happen both with the USB cradle which came with it, or the recently purchased Sync-n-Charge cable.
Does anyone have any tips on how to clean these small, presumably fairly sensitive, connections?
I've tried a squirt of WD-40 and more wiggling, which does seem to have improved things, but if I'm not careful while its in the cradle then it doesn't charge, so I pick it up to go out and it shows less than 100% charge (It once ran flat completely whilst in the cradle with the power connected)
BTW, If anyone's thinking about battery life, I can thoroughly recommend the 1800 ah battery upgrade available for these. Its quite simple to fit and does provide a really good improvement over the original for a modest cost. Its available in the UK from:
http://www.expansys.com/expansys.asp
along with pretty much most things you can get for these devices. One recommendation though is to shop online.... I rang and asked about the high capacity battery only to be told that they didn't sell them.... so i just bought from their website instead....
I never use the cradle, its the cradle that over long term usage causes the problems, instead of WD40 which leaves a residue on the contacts look for something called switch gear or similar, used for electronic components such as stuck on of switches etc.

extended batteries from ebay

Hello!
Have anybody tried batteries for Kaiser, that are sold at Ebay? They look cheap and capacious.
http://search.ebay.com/kaiser-battery_W0QQfromZR40QQfrtsZ0
for example this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/2800-mAh-BATTER...ryZ20336QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Thanks
I have that one and its quite good, needs to be taken out at half charge or whenever as the phone thinks there is no power left.
How is with GPS? Does it works with this type of batteries? I have heard that there are some batteries that blocks GPS signals..
I still get GPS just fine, I haven't had any problems at all with it, yet....
Thanks, so I'll take it

I bought the same battery and it does not fit my TILT. The battery is too thick for the included battery cover. They want me to send it back to Hong Kong. I am awaiting email to see if they will reimburse the return shipping. Beware.
wow, thanks for reply, but I already bought it (for kaiser) strange - maybe there is a difference in batteries for TILT and for KAISER
Nope! Battery in link to eBay will not work with the Tilt!
Kaiser is the universal name for the phone! AT&T calls it the tilt! HTC subscribers [I believe] call it TyTN II. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong!
^^(aztilt) I'm surprise they are allowing a return and refund, since they are in Hong Kong and the reason for a return is 'incorrect battery' right?
This battery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=350254 seems to be a great replacement for all others! Post #73 lists an estimated life increase! BEWARE: I believe company is still fixing any bugs/problems!
Their ad lists the Cingular 8925 which is the AT&T TILT. They are allowing a return and a refund of the return shipping cost. But, for $20 I am going to just keep the battery as an emergency backup. I don't need the cover to use the battery. I also found out that i can carry two standard batteries under the extended battery cover so that what I am doing now. I just have to open the cover and swap the battery if I need to. This way I will always have a spare backup battery with me.
The battery is bigger. You need to install a different battery door cover. If you search ebay they sell the extended battery door cover. Most sellers include the battery cover replacement cover for extended battery when your buy the extended battery. My guess is that you probably tried to save a couple bucks, and ended up with the cheaper item that didn't include the cover

The problem is that you can't read or don't want to look at the pictures I have posted in this thread. I got the extended battery replacement cover with the extended battery but it will not fit on the TILT. I was able to use that extended battery cover to carry two standard size batteries with the phone.
Just received battery - it fits perfectly, maybe its a bit smaller.. Haven't still tested out - because it has to be charged for 10 hours, before use..
Like aztilt I got the wrong battery/cover combination from that ebay seller (ukhitech). They offered a full refund (except shipping I guess) if I send the items back but I am a bit confused why they seem to send out the right battery/cover combination to some people but not to others. I bought my battery in May and didn't know then it wouldn't fit since I bought my AT&T Tilt later on.
The battery I got was 13mm thick and for P4550 Kaiser and the cover had a small hole for the camera so it was not the cover that can be seen in the auction picture.
I am curious to know how thick is the battery you have kpcz? And how does the cover look (large or small camera hole)? And you have an original HTC Tytn II and not a AT&T Tilt, is that correct? (Not sure it matters)

Seidio 3200mah vs Mugen 3000mah

Hi everybody,
I need an extended battery, and these are the only two that seem to fit the bill. I have searched the net extensively, and they seem to be very similar units. Please feel free to correct me on this.
My main question is, do either of the battery doors that ship with these units provide cover for the camera lens the way the stock battery door does? I would like to purchase a battery that comes with battery door protection for the camera. If neither of them do I may need to do some modding.
I look forward to your input, suggestions, and perhaps a bit of experience positive or negative that you've had with either unit. Thanks guys.
I have a mugen 3000mah for 2-3 months and works very nice for me and I have no problems related by other users... but many users have different problems with this battery (charging/discharging, reporting the battery usage etc.) ...see this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=358348&page=5 especially post #48 page 5
I have the Seido 3200 battery for about a month. It has a nice rubberized extended back that it comes with. The only real issue is the way that the PDA does not accurately report the amount of charge it has. I can run it all the way down off of a full charge (Charged until the light goes green), pull it out of the phone and then put it back in. It will then show about 40-50 percent charge still remaining. So you get the power, but with the inconvienence of having to pull the battery out. Not to mention that it is substantially thicker than the original. There is a thread somewhere in this forum about this problem, and that it happens with any non-oem battery. I haven't decided if it's better this way, or to just charge the oem battery more frequently.
Yeah the incorrect readings are a pain I would guess. I have not gotten an extended battery for my Tilt yet.
Another issue I am worried about is the back cover. I had a Tmobile Wing with extended battery and noticed that the cover clips broke and the cover was loose and it made it a pain in the rear. Are there any issues with this on the Tilt/Kaiser? I would hate to get an extended battery and it ended up breaking the support clips on the phone that hold the cover in place. I know the clips on the Kaiser are much better than the cheap ones the wing had.
Well, the back cover on the Seido 3200 is much thicker and sturdier than the one I had for my 8525. And it is the same depth all the way across which makes it much nicer to hold landscape, when you are typing. It seems pretty sturdy, and the clips lock in place well. Maybe it's because the shape is a uniform depth all the way across. All in all, I like the back and the battery performance. With the exception of the incorrect battery meter, and having to pop it out and reinstall it to get the full charge out of it. Whether the clips will hold up with constantly removing the back to get at the battery, only time will tell. I have it about a month.
I order my Seidio 3200 today for my lovely tricked out Tilt and it will be here Friday. I will let you know if it sucks or not on Saturday or Sunday.
I said I would check back in.
The back is thicker, to be expected. I did not expect the cover to be so easy to knock off. It comes off too easy. Also, to find a proper phone case is a real challenge. It is a real challenge. I am glad I have it because the capacity is great but it is too annoying. I will keep it but will only use it when I must. As mentioned by some one else, when the battery gets low, like 40%, just remove it and reinstall it. The % jumps up to 70 or 80%.
The two of the support clips broke off on mine a while ago. They're EXTREMELY flimsy! After that, it wants to come right off the phone at the slightest brush against it. To date, there hasn't been any company that has made a decent case that accommodates this extended battery. I guess we're too small of a minority to matter?
Does anyone know of any type of "fix" other than removing the larger batteries on the Tilt/Kaiser to get it to recognize the larger batteries?

Finally!

Got my replacement Vibrant in today (another brand new one - 3rd one)...
NOT HARDWARE LOCKED!
Was the first thing I checked when I put the battery in, and it went to Recovery first attempt XD
9/30/10 phone.
Are there any portable battery chargers for these Vibrant batteries? Since I have two extras I reckon it wouldn't be a bad idea to carry around a spare so I don't have to worry too much about conserving battery (can just switch quickly halfway through the day if needed).

Check ebay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/2x-1500mah-BATT...244305?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item19bedb9651
http://cgi.ebay.com/11-Accessory-Ca...832081?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item56402c4b11
http://cgi.ebay.com/2x-Battery-Char...981796?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item3f03a36de4
Although most of these have two more batteries added to them and they are also from Hong Kong but with alot of good reviews.
I've never seen two batteries and a charger for $10. Hrm... I already have two extra batteries so I guess I may get one just for the charger. I don't trust those batteries, though...
Thanks!

i was about to ask for a third replacement too, but i ended up trying out the odin ji4 flash and it unlocked the hardware on my phone. Didn't have to go through with the replacement anymore.
I personally use this, but I don't carry around spare batteries.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Motorola-Portab...237198?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item35ad07d08e
I use it along with a Mini to Micro adapter with a 6" or so cable.
I only really carry it when I plan on traveling. Battery gets low I jump start it with the portable.

HTC M9+ Supreme Camera Edition - Replaced Jack/Charge Port PCB Board - won't charge?

Hi all,
I'm kinda stuck with a brick at the moment. Not sure what do. I have a slightly rare HTC M9 Plus Supreme Camera Edition. The headphone jack started to fail. Despite the obvious cleaning it. I decided to replace it.
I purchased the PCB, which also houses the Micro USB charging port. Disassembled and replaced - Turns on and voila! Sound worked fine again. What i didn't realize is that it now isn't accepting charge. Phone wouldn't hold charge. When you insert the charger you get a blinking red light and then it restarts itself.
The part form the M9 differs to the part needed for the M9 Plus.
The part i can find from anywhere appears to be made from a 3rd party - Could just be a cheap pos part.
Does anyone know where i could get the official part (posted to UK)? OR
Should i try and risk getting the same part again?
Perhaps the battery has shorted somehow, and it's calling for a new battery?
Could my problem lay elsewhere. The replacement went seemingly very smoothly - Maybe i've done something else in the process.
What do you think? The only is only 6 months old or so, it's such a shame that it has now been retired.
NB: When the problem occurred i did some research online and saw that someone with the same M9 Plus phone replaced this board and had the exact same issue.

I haven't understand if you have used the pcb part for the M9 Plus or the one for the standard M9, if you have used the pcb card for the standard M9 I obviusly suppose that it's different from the one inside the M9 Plus.
