Would like to point out that Shift phone has just released there new phone 6mq with changeable battery, Jack stick and Micro SD card! The 3 main things a mobile NEED to even be interesting to look at.
I have now rooted the Shift 6mq phone with Magisk and we have a dirty TWRP working as well, although still having issues on the later but it is in its beginning stages of this phone. SHIFT6mq - Bootloader unlock / Root / Custom Recoveries / ROMs | SHIFTPHONES
Would anyone be willing to look at the Shift 6mq so we can further support this little German company who goes against the stream of nonsense, it has Android 10 out of the box, they are still working on a Google version and a Light version so you have the choice.
But it is looking good, finally a contender to the old LG V20 - which I have had for my daily driver for 4-5 years or so. A wonderful phone although getting old and it had its shortcomings as well, like the screen Ghosting and not easy to root if even possible.
The LG V20 was the last flagship phone with the 3 essentials - and now we FINALY have something to take over from here!
Would love to see the community support this new mobile and help these guys out, I have toyed and tinkered around with it - and it is possible to pretty much ruin it and get it up and running again although a lot of hooping around, but it can be done already.
So if anyone have the know how, or interest to support a little company who at least stands on some sanity with there phone - it would be nice to see LineageOS support for it.
I don't know much about stuff like that, I just do some newbie rooting and such at the moment, having had to root my new used V20 F800K that already sadly does ghosting. And my new Shift 6mq which I got 10 days after my V20 F800K rescue boat came around to relieve my old V20 H990N Hongkong version as it was and is falling apart. I did not know when I would receive my Shift 6mq but it came around 10 days after I got the new used Korean version of the LG V20. Anyway at least it could be rooted, so that will help me get all my applications over to the new Shift 6mq, which is another milestone that needs to be walked.
Anyway, if any programmers are out there, or people who knows stuff, it would be a nice project for some sanity to support this new phone from Shift, seemingly a good replacement for the old LG V20. I still need to get it up and running and see how it works in daily use, but it looks like it will be a good phone for the next 5 years for me.
Not a surprise it is faster then the LG V20, benchmark shows a good leap - 128 GB of internal space although the system itself is 21 GB compared to 9 GB on the LG V20 which had 64 GB. 8 GB of Ram, although not sure what I need that much for, but I could not live without more internal space as I am always using it so quick on the LG V20, books, maps and such takes a lot of space and what not. One of the reasons I disqualified the Fairphone 3 when looking at both phones, only having 64GB of internal memory, is just not going to do it for me. I actually ended up just ordering another LG V20 but because of corona nonsense they would not send it to me, being much cheaper solution. And needing a new phone, I had to then go with the Shift 6mq which was 5-6 times as much compared to the 4-5 year old LG V20. Anyway, if a phone does not have the 3 essentials, I won't buy it, not interested!
Anyway...
So guys, anyone up for looking at it? If you need any help I am here. I have toyed around with it, and breaking it, I can get it up and running again. I've done it a couple of times now... And still doing some testing on TWRP which seems to have a failing bug that I need to report.
But in any case, would love to see anyone starting working on it.

You did a great thing by using a phone for over 4 years. These are why companies are making better phones with long term support - if you can replace the battery or screen for cheap, and your carrier doesn't offer you a "deal" on a new phone, why would you want one?
Now me on the other hand, in 6 years I've daily driven 5 phones and 8 versions of Android, including 4 custom ROMs.
HOWEVER, I did it sustainably - using only phones given to me for free with the exception of the Moto G and a used S10e.

Next week I'll recieve my LG Optimus 7.
I'm currently using a Nexus One and i'm still very happy about it. But i'm getting sick of the laggy scrolling/sliding of Android. I just don't understand why Android isn't making things as smooth as iOS or Windows. And because I like everything smooth I looked into reviews and saw this phone several times. So I went to the store and tested this phone. It felt extremely smooth and fast. But didn't bought it because it was around €550, so I ordered it online for €370 and it will be unlocked out of the box.
What I wanted to ask...
Are their things that I need to know about updates, custimization,...? Any advices or something?

nothing especially... The 1st big update is out and will be available for all users very soon(maybe ur phone will already have it...)But i would suggest to keep ur nexus1 close if ur keen on social chatting, skype, navigation...
Optimus-7 is a marvelous piece of hardware- u made an excellent choice...
ps- yes the phone relies on zune- pc software for updates...

Yesterday I received my Optimus 7!
And what must I say, it's way smoother then Android and it's fast too. Also I find that Windows is a lot easier to use then Android, not that I couldn't use my Android phone, but it was more complex. The Optimus 7 is a bit more heavy then my old Nexus One but it feels stronger too. A lot of good things to tell But i'm not going to tell then because most of them are allready mentioned in reviews,..
Also did the NoDo update without probs, I followed the steps in this thread and it worked perfectly.
Overall..
phone feels stronger, easier OS, not that many apps but it's still growing, sliding/scrolling is smooth as butter, fast, ...
I'm very happy with this phone I was happy too with my Nexus One, but didn't had the same feeling like my new Optimus 7
Remember, you own one of the only two models of WP7 devices that can be "developer unlocked" without the use of any third party apps...since your phone comes with a registry editor on board. And on monday I get SE Arc. I will decide than.
I appreciate WP7 in many aspects but personally I have enough of all the platforms limitations. Really.
So maybe I will go other way around, we'll see.
Optimus 7 is decent however I am in the end a little disappointed by it's camera in low light. Honestly it doesn't do any better than SE Cedar, 2mpx feature phone, in this regard.
WP7 would be unbelievably good if the features were there.
But apparently the more important things (besides C & P) will come much much later. It's a loong wait, like half a year at least.
And some of them maybe never. I need those features and right now I have no real choice, only Android. We'll see.
i recently got to know about htc hd2 and its capability to dual boot both android and wp7 and many other OS, so i started searching for the phone am getting one htc hd2 6 months old for about 13000 INR near my place so should i get this phone hardware wise i find the phone great am really interested in trying different OS in same phone will all these OS run smoothly as they are meant to be
then i was wondring should i buy this phone after 2 years of its launch
will it be wise to buy it at that price aiming to run different OS and to experiance all apps and games meant for them.... i dont mind spending time in modding i earlier had a nokia 5230 and was constatly flashing and modding its rom so am little familer with the stuff

Well the real answer is it is up to you if it is worth it or not. I did not convert the figure you posted into US dollars so I am not sure how much that amout is really.
I still have my HD2 and I will never sell it or get rid of it. The device it self is a great device, it has good hardware even by today's standards. Yes it is not a dual core device bit it still preforms very nicely no matter what OS you install on it. The ability to run so many OS's also makes it still a very relevant device. The actual physical construction of the device is very good and holds up to day to day use very well. hope that helps some.
go for it dude...i bought my hd2 for 36,000 rs..2yrs back.and is worth that even today for me......so, you are getting it for a steal...go get it flash away and enjoy

I have a chance to get a Droid X in "mint" condition today for about $75 and I'm considering it, but I wanted to ask a few basic questions that I wanted to just consolidate into one post instead of dropping questions all over the place in various threads. I did spend a few hours doing thread research and reading here and HowardForums and the Rootzwiki (and Cyanogenmod as well) so here goes:
- I'm assuming the bootloader is still locked on the Droid X as I see/saw threads with people doing a petition (like that's gonna change anything), so what exactly does that mean for the Droid X overall - I see some custom ROMs available so I'm confused: I thought having a locked bootloader meant you couldn't have custom ROMs or, are they all running from the microSD card?
- for anyone that bought a Droid X and used the stock ROM(s) from Verizon, does using a custom ROM (if you do so) help the battery life at all, and to what degree (and how bad/good is/was the stock ROM battery life anyway?)?
- I saw mention of ICS in several instances, and also along with some ROMs but, there doesn't seem to be a full fledged ICS ROM available (or is Liberty just such a thing?) so, are the chances high that ICS will never be fully fleshed out for the Droid X? I think I saw mention that there's "some" ROM now with ICS features but isn't the full fledged build, and that the camera doesn't work at all... just hoping for clarification on this. If it's an issue of "at some point we'll have ICS working proper, completely" then I suppose it's worth taking a chance now.

A locked bootloader means no custom kernels...
But with the 2nd-init this means next to nothing that is negative for us.
We can run CM7, MIUI, and ICS.
These are 2nd-init roms that don't use any of Motorola's framework.
EncounterICS is definitely a daily driver rom...if you don't mind missing out on your camera.
This is the stock ICS experience.
Cm7 is fantastic.
Everything works.
Miui is fantastic.
Everything works.
Liberty and the other roms are 1st-init...meaning they use blur framework...and varying amounts of blur features...depending on the rom.
Battery?
On 2nd-init...we're at about stock levels.
1st-init may get slightly better than stock.
The X gets pretty darn decent battery life anyway...I wouldn't worry about it.
Our ICS ports might not have a working camera for quite some time...
But I'm sure they'll get there.
Is it a good buy?
I'd say yes.
The X has these features missing from the current top-tier phones...
4G
NFC
Front facing camera
Dual core.
We can even spoof the market into letting us download dual core games...
And overclock and use Chainfire3D to run said games.
It's a surprisingly nice phone...
If we had an unlocked bootloader...we'd have a fully functional ICS already.
But that's something for the devs to work on...and it really has no effect on us aside from a longer wait.

Came with 16GB originally, really? Damn that would be nice, but I won't find out till later today when I meet to get my hands on it. That would be awesome if it was one of the original ones but, I don't want to get my hopes up for it. Hell, Fry's carries 16GB microSD cards under $20 most every day now so it's not like it'll be a lot of money to get one.
No worries about the jumping all over the place - I've been online since 1977 (seriously, at a whopping 50 baud!) so I can keep up with disjointed thoughts and whatever.
As for the "missing features" on top tier phones, none of those are relevant to me at all, as weird as that might sound. I'm in Las Vegas and we're fairly blanketed here for 4G coverage but, I think that kind of speed (when it works) for cell/smart phones is still just a gimmick but that's just me.
So a solid CM7 ROM might be the best for me to get started I suppose. The owner texted me earlier to set the meeting time (another few hours) and confirmed she did reset the phone to factory condition which iirc means it's at the Android screen which means it's waiting to be activated - can you or anyone else confirm that the old 4-corner trick will bypass that activation so I can get into it and verify everything works? I probably won't bother with the actual activation anytime soon unless I find some good local pricing here in my area, but being able to demo the phone and make sure everything works is an absolute must.

We've yet to get 4G in my area...but even connecting to WiFi loading web pages takes about the same time...not like I'm downloading 3gig torrents on my phone.

So I got the Droid X, it's in great condition but certainly not "mint" (people always say that and I don't think most know what mint actually implies - it should practically untouched by human hands).
Anyway, that CheckESNFree.com site says this one is clean and ready for activation so that's a plus, if that site is dependable of course. Always have to worry that someone would be creating a database of ESNs/ESIDs/IMEIs for some dastardly and nefarious purposes!!!
It's definitely a LOT snappier than my HD2 (listed in my sig) but it's also a slightly better internal architecture than the HD2 was, of course. Everything seems to function fine, not sure where to start so I'll much with it for the evening and see what gives. Came with a very tiny HTC 5V USB adapter, the original Motorola USB cable, and a separate USB charger as well.
Oh, and it does have the 16GB microSD card in it too.

Without the unlock tool being released I've gotten bored of this phone in the 1st week. I've bought another 2 phones since that have more enjoyment value to them being able to unlock and flash as I want. The thrill of finding exciting new roms that have new ideas baked in and running, sometimes weirdly, but always fun to play with...
Nokia have provided a good solid phone for cheap.
That's not what we here at XDA always want...
Where's the fun of trying a new rom, the thrill of seeing a new bootlogo, being able to set things up how we want, not some guy who has no imagination sitting in an office somewhere.
This will be my last Nokia unless they get this right with newer models...
This turkeys going the way of the Zenfone 3 deluxe who's bootloader unlock wasn't released until well after a new batch of upgraded phones was released from their competitors at a cheaper price nicely killing off all developement....

It's a shame all right I agree. I assumed we'd have an open device from the off. Instead it's mainly silence from Nokia.
They have to release the sources yet so maybe we'll know more about the bootloader unlock when that happens.

So I was thinking of buying a 10 off of eBay for around $165. Is this phone's development dead, other than maintenance, since I'd assume HTC will not support it for Android Pie being 2.5 years old. Without oem firmware can this phone even work on stock Android, like 9.0 Lineage or something equivalent? Would anyone recommend buying this so late in its lifecycle?

For that price, I would say yes since it's still pretty powerful. I believe Lineage development is proceeding on this phone but you can check that out yourself in the LOS thread. There won't be anymore updates from HTC.
Ultimately it'll depend on your budget, so if you can spend more, you can always go for something newer

At the risk of driving up the price, since I'm currently looking too, I'd say "yes." I have been scouring the smartphone marked for a device no larger than the HTC 10, with sdcard support that runs on Verizon with all features (i.e. wifi calling, hd calling, etc.)
Nothing exists yet. While the Sony Xperia and LG models are appealing, they are (with the exception of the Compact) larger and heavier. Plus they have their own issues (Sony puts out more flagships so models are outmoded more quickly; and their support is allegedly mediocre, not that HTC's is anything to write home about). I even toyed with abandoning ship and moving to iphone, but largely their devices are larger and of course no sdcard support (plus, I hate iOS and many must-have apps are Android only). I even toyed with a U12+, but they're too damn expensive, and for reasons I'm not allowed to say, it wouldn't be my first, second or third choice of handsets.
My 10 dates from the first day of availability, which means the 3,000 mAh battery now has the life of a 1450 mAh battery which is just not good enough to function with. A brand new in box HTC 10 will have an "older" but unused battery and that alone would wake it worth the purchase.
That having been said, yes, development is mostly dead. It's possible someone will port Pie to the device, but honestly, Oreo is so aweful on it that if I bought a "new" 10 now, I'd probably try to keep it on Nougat indefinitely. At least until there are new flagships next spring, maybe even one from HTC that isn't so damn twitchy with unusable non-buttons.
