Disable proximity sensor - Essential Phone Questions & Answers

Hi guys,
MyHi guys,
PH-1 fell and broke the screen but it still works, I already ordered the new screen but while it arrives I need to use it anyway. Except that the screen goes out when I'm going to make a call and listen to audio on Whatsapp, my frintal camera is pretty dusty. I believe it is the dust that is in the sensor so the tel is erasing. Does anyone know of any apk that disables the sensor so that it does not erase?
appreciate

Proximity Sensor Problem 1.61 :-( Is this the issue?

Hi all again,
I must saw I've NEVER had to do so many posting for a single phone... anyway.
I just updated my Leo to 1.61 via a tortuous goldcard process and the proximity sensor is still not working correctly My wife is the main user of the phone and I was watching her while on a call- the screen was on and off like some demented Xmas lights.
I have a theory regarding the problem. It's only my wife who has the problem with the phone, it's seems ok with me (but I don't use it as much!). The phone is very wide, and the proximity sensor is not central. I think that the sensor is missing her ear (she has small ears!). The gap between her ear lobe top and her head is too great for the sensor. I tested the sensor gap with my thumb and it seems to be around 1cm to activate.
The hardware solution is either move the sensor so it's central (that's not going to happen soon) OR increase the sensitivity of it.
Does anyone know how to change the sensitivity of the sensor OR anyway to completely disable the touch screen during a call.
Hmm I can not believe that, I've tested my sensor:
It put the lights out if i come closer that 1,5 cm next to the screen during a call. So it think this is not the source of your problem.
But: I'm running a 1.48 rom...
I had the proximity sensor behaving eratically upon installing a screen protector. Even though I installed the original HTC screen protector which has 2 holes to position exactly over the sensors but even then I had problems. Ever since removing the screen protector everything is okay again.
Just thought if your problem also coincides with installing a screen protector.
Regards
The problem occurs when your hair overlaps the proximity sensor, the light immediately comes on. Stick the phone back to the ear and the proximity sensor works perfectly on time.
p.s. ive long hair and I too faced this problem and figured it out by running a few test as mentioned above ;-)
Hope this helps.
well, I'm having the same problem and It's not caused because of my hair. it just sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. the test I make is using the palm of my hand. if during one call It's not working, it won't work no matter what you do. then if I make a call and its working, I can turn on and off the screen placing my hand in front of the sensor..

I reckon you clear the area around the receiver and try doing a hard reset.
CAUTION: Take an individual back of your data rather than doing a full backup using some software.
same problem
Hi, I have the same random proximity sensor bug problem. During call accidental hang-up happens every day. I have short hair and no screen protector. Is there any solution for this yet? thanks.
I wrote to HTC already, but they claim there is no problem reported. Sory for my English.
Had a similar problem. My proximity sensor is now working fine. Install the 'Proximity Sensor for Screen Off v0.2' cab. Search the forum for the thread.
thanks for tip, hope this little app will "evolve"...
hi,
i had the problem with the proximite, that it is only working when the phone is in portrait mode. when im incall and portrait i can put my finger to the sensor and it is working perfect. when i rotate the display to landscape the sensor does nothing and the display stays on. unfortunatly i turn the phone sometimes on the way to my ear, and so the screen stays on.
i will try now the mentoined .cab and see what it does for me.

[Q] What mod allows you to disable the in-call proximity sensor?

Hi everyone,
Long story short, I got a used Nexus 4 off someone, everything works perfectly except the proximity sensor. During a call the screen blacks out and doesn't come back unless I hard reset the phone to hang up. I figured out it was a problem with the proximity sensor. Upon reading these forums and many other articles on Google about taking off the screen protector (which I don't have) and swapping the rubber "sensor" holder holes, I decided to open the phone up and take a look.
It appears that my phone is missing the rubber piece to hold the proximity and light sensors in place, making the sensor unusable and causing many issues with making calls. I've tried playing around with it using other peoples' suggestions and nothing has worked. I've decided to just find a way to disable the proximity sensor instead during a call, as I'll be quite satisfied with just a simple software fix.
Right now I am using Proximity Screen OFF to keep the screen on, but it drains my battery pretty hard. I was thinking to just flash my phone with a mod that allows me to turn the proximity sensor off during a call.
Any suggestions as to which mod contains this feature?
Thank you.

Disable proximity sensor entirely

Hello guys,
I cracked the screen of my Nexus 4 and ordered a replacement screen + digitizer from ebay. After waiting 2 months and putting the phone together, I realised the proximity sensor isn't working. I followed some guides and realised I've lost the little bit of rubber that goes in between. Is there something else I can use, or even better, can I disable the proximity sensor entirely as it's not important to me at all?
Thanks
Yes. There is Xposed Framework plugin which allows you to disable it. I use it and it works good. The name of the app is Disable Proximity Sensor.

Disabling proximity sensor

I recently bought a 6P (yey!), so far I've enjoyed it a lot! Came from a N4 that also served quite good.
Anyways, I bought a screen protector without the cutout for the proximity sensor. So as you would guess the screen goes black after I answer a call and it is really annoying.
Is there a way to disable the "darken the screen when a call is active" or another solution without replacing the screen protector?
So far I only enabled the Hang Up power button press feature, and I don't like this solution.
Thanks in advance
The only workaround (on stock) is to enable power button to end calls in accessibility options. My toast skin and TGSP was doing this to me until I got fed up and made the cutout wider - haven't had the issue since. If you download a proximity sensor tool or test suite from Play store you'll see that the phone can't detect distances - which is why it assumes it's pressed to your face.

insensitive proximity sensor

I've had this issue since I got the device at popup in London on 21st July
The proximity sensor only seems to register if skin is actually pressing against the glass where the sensor sits which is bad because unless the top of my ear is in exactly the right place the screen stays on during calls meaning random key presses.
I'm thinking now this is a hardware issue, don't really want to RMA if I can help it.
Does anyone know any way to tweak the sensitivity of the sensor with a setting /line of code etc?
Mate, that does seem like a RMA.
I have no trouble with the proximity sensor. Works fine without touching the glass .
Know that's not what you want to hear but better to get it fixed now instead of investing a few days and still having to RMA....
Extra couple of days suffering and longer to wait return....
