God I wish I Found that phone section Before ! - Samsung Galaxy Core Plus Questions & Answers

Hi,
I know this is the galaxy core plus forums here, but does it have any development project, or support for the Galaxy Core Plus 4G? (SM-G386)
My SM-G350 finished bent inside my back pocket (youth mistakes...), so what's left is my Galaxy Core Plus 4G

Ouch. Only a good case saved my 10+ from a similar fate... easy to do unless you break the habit. One reason I wear BDUs... cargo side pockets.

Plus I used to do it because I heard that phones were using radio waves, and that it may cause sterility problem if you put it in your front pocket next to your sdk (yes, I call it my social development kit, because it kind of is if you think about it).
But the pain I felt losing that phone is way worse than radiating my sdk...
More seriously, this I'll info wasn't proven, and is likely to be false, so I put it back in my front pocket. And my SDK is important, I like him, and I want to protect him.
This is by far the most bizarre post I ever posted in xda. I'll bookmark it so I can edit afterwards if I feel too shameful about it. I'll leave it for now... Enjoy

If high intensity radio frequency energy was a problem Nicola Tesla would never had to worry about old age.

I will point out that Tesla had no children but most likely not due to sterility but rather choice... he was on a mission.
He was one of a kind.

I Smashed my TITAN to pieces...it felt great too.

So a year ago when I bought this phone I apparently paid $500 to be a beta tester of an underperforming, premature, lackluster phone. I've lost alot of time behind this phone's malfunctions. yeah it's cool that I can tweak it and write software for it, but if everything locks the phone up whats the point.
well it froze for the 1 millionth and last time this morning. I witnessed "The Flight of the Mogul", and it was freakin awesome.
I'm over cell phones, I'd go back to smoke signals if i didn't run the risk of arson.
i think we all feel your pain. I'm just biding my time until i can afford a replacement. Likely ill wait the one more year or so till my contract is up and go to an iphone lol.
I would have gladly taken that sucker off your hands.
Good, glad to hear it you smashed your mogul. Meanwhile while yours lays in pieces mine is giving me the power playing movies flawlessly in skyfire, giving me perfect voice guided navigation from IGO 8, the piece of mind of the newest windows live speakable search, fast email and texting with a full qwerty keyboard, the power to retrieve files off my desktop at home, perfect access to my IM accounts, and new home screens whenever I grow tired of one. And you know the one thing I haven't worried about since DCD 3.x.x is ram. Everything runs smoothly and transitions like men in your mom's bedroom. Trash the mogul in some other forum, because for the majority of us it works perfectly. Compare it now to the problems the diamond has. I think you'll agree it has far less at this point. I will do fine on carrying me into the next generation. Nothing except the touch hd is really worth getting excited about right now and it is having trouble making it to the US. Why don't you just go get a blackberry storm? It is easier to use for you.

I'm happy for you. I admit that the only thing I haven't done is flash to a custom ROM, believe it or not I downloaded the latest DCD this weekend but never got around to it. I think the moral to the story is that the ability to customize a device with unofficial ROM's should not be the saving grace of an otherwise poor performing device. I believe that it should be an extra, cool thing to do for geek cred, not because the phone sucks otherwise. what's so hard about optimizing the phone for its hardware before release.
I've been riding it out for a long time, thru all the updates and ports of apps from other HTC's. So i think I'll just wait until the Raphael is improved upon, atleast it has a reasonable amount of memory.

I feel you. a friend of mine has it, and it's nice, but i can't roll with Verizon, plus i dont want to be apart of the crackberry scene, and i dont want to sell my soul to Apple, so I'll probably stick with WM, At the end of the day, m$ has the most mature API. i been drinkin their koolaid for my entire career.
but in the meantime I guess I'll resort to some good 'ol fashioned yodeling.
If you have had this much trouble than no matter how you look at it, the only reason you've had so much trouble is user error. If you don't know how to properly install and cook apps and roms, then get the f out of the kitchen homie. The mogul is for people who understand devices and computers or for those who want to learn. If you are looking for a cool devices that has not even a quarter of the programing capabilities than buy a storm or iphone. They are pretty. Or buy the diamond or the touch pro and be in the same boat. The mogul is old now and it still is running with the big boys and now more than ever doing it reliably. You have a problem with installing custom roms. Its called sdk my friends. Windows did the bare minimum to release the platform and then put it in the developers hands. Developers like dcd that have more talent in their little finger than most the people at microsoft or blackberry or apple. Wait for the standard blackberry and apple updates then as they are behind from the moment they are released. And mark my words, if you have trouble with the mogul you will have trouble with any htc device. They all have their ups and downs though the touch and the mogul's downs are pretty close to having them all worked out.

ok Sweety Puss.
i don't take it personal. but yes i did smash my phone. lol.
I feel for you.
Just today I opened up the Media Player, went to the music library, and noticed one of my albums was in there TWICE. I couldn't believe it. I had to do an 'update library' just to get rid of it. I thought about throwing it under a truck. The horror of it all.
I'll bet by this Friday, I'll have even have to do a soft reset again. I already did one LAST WEEK. Uncalled for.
Flaming POS.
What's funny is that the 6800 seems to have the least appeal to two sets of users. IMO there are four broad categories of users:
1. Casuals
2. Intermediates
3. advanced
4. Pushers
Casuals are people like my mom. You know them. They want a phone but don't know the first thing about how to do anything with them. Believe it or not, the 6800 is just fine for them. You can use the standard WM 6 interface right out of the box and it serves as a very nice pcoket computer and cell phone. You see, casual users don't need a bunch of fancy tricks and special apps. They are happy to simply get a cell phone, camera, qwerty key board, and push email and pim. Nevertheless, casual users are apt to enjoy the neat interface of the iphone or storm.
Intermediates are very likely not to enjoy the 6800. Why? Because they know just enough to be dangerous. Just enough to flash a ROM improperly or load up their phone with a hundred apps and then complain when their phone becomes unstable. They get frustrated and do things like throw their phones in the air when they have no one but themselves to blame.
Advanced users, I think, like the 6800 because of its work-horse reputation, functionality, and its modability. Advanced users know how to keep their phones trim and fit and in good shape so that it doesn't crash all the time. They know how to mange their ROM and use the phone with as great efficiency as possible.
Pushers like to push the boundaries of the phone world. They are not happy unless they have the latest and greatest of everything. Latest features....latest hardware....latest software. Pushers will hate the 6800, just as they will, frankly, end up hating anything that was released more than 3 months ago. Why? Because vy then the next latest and greatest gadget is released and, by God, they have to have it!
I LOVE my 6800. It does almost everything I could ask of it. The only thing it really lacks, IMO, is a g-sensor, and so far other than the cute use as a bubble level for handyman work, all of the g-sensor stuff seems to fit in the amusing pout pointless category.
People are constantly amazed at what my 6800 can do. I have had iphone users, even after the app store opened, literally downtrodden after everything they showed me they could do I could do and then I went on and did about a dozen things they could not do.
I have complete voice navigation and gps. I have finger friendly and flick friendly apps up the ying-yang. I get the full web experience and can view streaming videos and flash and you tube on the net.
I have voice activation. I have weather. I have swappable memory (try that iphone freaks) and have every single song and most of my movie library on my phone. I recently took a 12 hour flight by myself in a jet that had a power outlet at every seat and I needed nothing with me but my phone to keep me not only out of boredom but actually entertained.
My 6800 is my office...anywhere I go. I can access my desktop at work remotely. I can not only view but create and edit Word and Excel docs. Need a quick deal memo during an important business meeting at lunch? I can take notes with my stylus BY HAND, then type them up into a Word Doc deal memo and email it to an office to have it printed. I can then run some figures in Pocket Excel to project the proceeds from the deal. All in the restaurant over lunch.
And I have yet to see ANY software keyboard come close to the hardware keyboard of the 6800. The iphone keyboard sucks. So does the diamond and the storm. They all suck...by definition. My hardware keyboard is large, usable with my big thumbs, and doesn't take up an inch of screen real estate. Can you say that of the iphone? The storm? The Touch?
I fully understand the RAM issue, but holy crud...just how many toys do you need running at the same time on your phone? I do plenty on the 6800 and I don't mind the RAM. Yeah, I suppose it could load in 2 seconds instead of 4. But who except a PUSHER would care?
Devin
Nicely put Devin! I don't think I love my Mogul quite as much as you, but it will do till significantly better hardware comes my way.

I clearly state to use your imagination.
I was hoping to get some positive feedback but instead I got some ignorant comments.
The sole purpose to my previous thread was to see what other people (forum members) were interested in. The design features I mentioned are not impossible at all, but then again I was just using my imagination.
I thought I was gonna get some suggested changes to my thoughts but out of all the views no answers. Ah well I did get somebodies attention although it wasn't the type of attention intended.
But for future references when someone asks that you use your imagination they mean to actually use it. Ok well its time to crash......Ciao
Okay, I'd like a phone that is implemented into my eyes and ears. It should have a 2gb/s connection speed, with full video support for every video type imaginible (including ones that haven't been made yet), and if it isn't out in the next 5 seconds than HTC/Google needs to get their **** together NOW.

To make a post about your disgruntled feelings about another post is the most egomanicial faux paux you can make on a forum, we could all look at a device and say this that and the other thing should be better and or different, and DREAM...
but to put all those things together in a slim package and a slim price point isn't possible, your DREAM phone may be possible today but Id bet it might be a bit large and painfully expensive, both of which the G1 is not, its basiclly an early adopter targeted device, that is just a taste of things to come from an open source world where each new phone you buy is familliar and there is a way to easily migrate your data, cause its the same OS...
To top it off this tephonic utopia I speak of is OPEN!
this is like the Barak Obama of mobile phones...it's about change damn1t

Thank you.
We quickly seem to forget just how inexpensive the G1 actually is. We would love a phone with a great flash, headphone adapter, etc... but I'm sure it just wasn't possible to build and release such a phone for the targeted price point.
I can almost gaurantee we will see one coming out, I'm curious what the Sony Ericcson model will be.
Compared to a device like the iPhone, the G1 has a full keyboard and trackball, it's most likely more expensive to make these features. Which is why the iPhone has decent internal storage and a headphone jack. I would bet these weren't left off because HTC is lazy, it's because these would increase the price past the targeted point.
I have often wondered why, since memory is getting stupidly cheap, why we dont see more internal ram and rom. I am sure in the future we will see huge strides. In fact, I am quite sure one day we will be able to upgrade them at a component level like a real pc or laptop instead of as an accessory.
When you ask what we would like to see, you need to keep in mind that technology is progressing faster and faster. Things like a built in projector, wireless usb, and many others will be here some day.
Currently, spec and feature wise I think the phone has what it needs already (ok, well- except the foolishly small battery)
If you really want hi-tech, check out the NS08 hahaha

Sales still rocketing on. Will it be enough to get proper support?

I was very pleased to read this-
http://www.gsmarena.com/200000_samsung_glaxy_s_phones_sold_in_south_korea_in_10_days-news-1786.php
Considering the fact that stocks sell off like hot scones in the UK and there are even shortages, and the fact that the device is selling well in the U.S even before carrier-based versions started selling, i see a bright future for the Galaxy S platform.
If in south korea alone it sold 200,000 , and in the UK Clove, Expansys and Handtec had severe shortages untill several days ago, i'm guessing it already sold over 300-350K worldwide.
Again, even before carriers around the world started marketing it.
Now i want to see what happens after carriers around the world start selling it, if these kinds of numbers will continue to flow in, i think it's close to impossible that samsung won't support it for a prolonged period.
Share your 2 cents, i'm having great expectations right now.

^ Yeah, I lol at that one.
But OP, your right. This is Samsung's all out effort to gain marketshare in the smartphone area. They are #2 when it comes to feature phones (dumb phones). However, in smartphone market, they are #4 or 5. In fact, last quarter they LOST market share. Analysts have projected that in a few years, the majority of phones sold will be smartphones, so it is imperative for Samsung to gain market share and win over customers. You can not do that with products that are unsupported. I bet they got a wake up call when HTC came out of no where and gained market share quicker then Samsung did. In fact HTC (which is very small company compared to Samsung), has a greater market share than the big ol Samsung. They know for a fact that with increased relations with developers, that their handsets have gained sales. Samsung created an open source distribution website where source codes for most of their products have been released since April of this year. So that is a good positive step in the right direction. Also, we all know Samsung makes great hardware, however their software side has been less stellar. Its beginning to be changed as more money and resources are pouring into the software side.(Bada, new R&D center in India devoted to software, new emphasis by corporate to focus more money in software etc).
I hope we are right.
As far as I can see, Samsung is winning customers over HTC right now. I am one of those, and I spotted many others in the forums.
IMO the point is that HTC's success has been largely undeserved, but rather based on the efforts of people here on XDA; on the contrary, it looks like they did everything they could to make people run away screaming. Despite all the work that has been done, even developers on XDA have never found a way to get a performance from, say, the Touch HD that could at least be called acceptable, if you look at the specs. Marketing a device as the "ultimate multimedia experience" and then selling it without proper drivers, is just pure BS. And this incredible problem affected an entire range of products for at least two years.
So, I would say, HTC should be paying a much higher price than they are, for their behaviour... we'll see in the next few months. I know I sound harsh but I seriously hope they lose it. Samsung FTW
OP needs to change his topic to something less misleading. When i first glance your "bright spot" made me thought that the new phones have some defect in the screen.
I thought your post was to say that samsung sold many phones with defective "bright spots" on their screens.

And now can someone please translate AndroHero's post for me? i'm having trouble trying to discern what language is that.
Anyways, now that samsung is selling masses of their flagship phone, they have to be completely retarded to not support it properly. It would be equevilant to commiting suicide.
Also, it sold a lot on their "home court", if samsung will let even koreans down, their cellular department is going to take a major hit.

Hello,
Here is a little article about samsung vs apple, there is a nice section about production lines.
It's a Korean article transleted into English.
[too bad I'm new and can't post a link] To those still interested by the article, you can google search "askakorean apple vs samsung" first article!
It's maybe a bit out of context, but since you were talking about shortages.
If someone would be nice enough to post the link so it's easier for everybody

http://askakorean.blogspot.com/2010/06/ask-korean-news-apple-v-samsung.html
Interesting to read someones opinion, but that's all it is. My other half is Korean, and she, like I work in the electronics industry and we're both intimately aware of how Korean giants like Samsung operate, the key element in the Galaxy S isnt rapid turn around, its a change in corporate policy towards the design of the phone, by involving hundreds of potential users in the development stages.
I also disagree with his premise that the iPhone 4 is a 'great' product. I've had a play with an iPhone 4 and I think it suffers from Form over Function. It's actually a little uncomfortable in the hand. It may be made from glass and steel and look great, but such hard materials with squared off edges and profiles doesn't sit right in your hand.
The objects we most commonly hold in our hands are cups/mugs, pens and computer mice. They're rounded and softened, ok household mugs are ceramic from a practical materials aspect, but even a travel mug has a rubberized grip.
I just don't get the hysteria over the IP4, when I look at it I do see a photogenic object, but I also see a design fail.
Leaving the comfortability issue aside, i'm bothered by the durability aspect.
Using superhardened glass may be good against scratches, but without a shock absorbing frame of some sort, the harder the galss- the more prone to shattering it will be, and harder glass shatters more catastrophically.
"regular" hardness glass usually gets cracks or little shattered points.
Superhardened galss- it's "all or nothing". Either nothing hapeens, or it shatters completely.
Deciding to put the glass ON the frame instead of IN the frame (like previous iPhones) was a much bigger design flaw than the less-round corners IMO.
I'm hearing a lott of buzz about samsung using mostly plastic, and how "inappropreate" it is for a super high-end device, but from a pratical viewpoint-
It's durable, it's cheap and easy to replace it's comfortable, and it doesn't block reception as much as more expensive materials.
Indeed, my BlackBerry is plastic, and that's never been an issue.

Why I'm reluctant to buy one

First and foremost: No multiple user support! Until this is provided by either Samsung or by a mod, I'm not buying this tablet. I was hoping to make this a coffee table appliance, and there is no way to achieve that without the multi-user support.
Another thing that kinda annoyed me was the seemingly cheap workmanship on the area where the bezel meets the plastic frame in the front. I held a white one at Best Buy and this annoying look immediately caught my attention. This would have looked much nicer if the bezel did not run over the frame and was instead flush with it. Normally I wouldn't care about this too much, but I know my wife will and ***** about how iPad looks nicer... jeez.....
So why am I posting this? I guess I needed to vent... I had so much high hopes for this device, and now I'm having second thoughts...

Well, you cared enough to reply, so that's something!
I think the Note 2014 is going to be the best there is for android 10 inch tablet (until next year) for what it all offers. The super close runner up will be the New Nexus 10 coming out soon. For many it could go either way between the two. I jsut love all the software extras and the multi tasking of this thing. My god the multitasking!!:victory:
Again the new Nexus 10 is not out yet but ASUS is making it and I'm not too confident in the quality control. But that is just me.

And besides, didn't Google announce that they won't provide external sd-card slots, because they were "too confusing" to the consumer??? Really??? Or is it because they want to charge an extra $100 for 16GB in this day and age? Thanks Google, that's a deal breaker. The moment HTC did that, I switched over to Samsung (also HTC stopped making the battery removable). I hate when Android device makers are trying to act like they are Apple. If I want to buy something like iPhone or iPad, I will buy an iPhone or iPad. So stop taking away things that give you an edge!
I'm afraid that's what Samsung could be trying to do here by removing the multi-user support. They want everyone to buy a tablet. They don't want family members to share. Well, for the phones, it's understandable. But for tablets, there is no reason not to share. I hope Sammy gets its act together on this...

Google's mission was to make the tablet as affordable as possible, it is one of the reasons why they cut out the ext SD card.
Their other excuse was switching over on how they wanted their phones to mount when connected to PC. But Samsung managed to get it working right, so I don't know what their issue was.

As a coffee table device? I wouldn't dish out ~$600 for a tablet I'd be leaving on the coffee table. Why not just get something cheaper? It doesn't sound like you're going to be using the s pen for anything serious anyways and the S Pen is what really makes this device worth the purchase.

Well, I guess I tend to always buy the top tier device and hang on to it for a while (still use my Lenovo T61 I bought in 2007 close to $2K). For now it will be a coffee table device, but for later I may turn it into something more useful. And no one can deny the stunning resolution on that screen.
I currently have Note 2 as my phone and I do use the S Pen quite often.
7just grab a nook hd+. 9inches and under $125.

You could try installing 2014 NOTE 10.1 RETAIL MODE APP.
I believe the way it works is.........
You activate the retail mode with a password and anything that is done in retail mode is erased when you return to normal operation. There is also a video that plays when the tablet has not been touched for a preset time.

Only one catch......... you need the password, who knows it???

Yes, I have seen that on the tablet at BestBuy. There was an "administrators" menu on settings and retail mode user or something close to that name was listed as an admin. But still doesn't achieve the purpose of being able to share the device with my wife without any hassle.

iP6 has Bendgate, but the N4 may end up with Gapgate

Anyone else see this? Hopefully (if true) this gets fixed before shipment here to the US...

Samsung is already aware of the issue. These phones are usually produced a week or two before they get into the customer's hands so this should be a non-issue for the ones coming onto American shores. And it's a manufacturing flaw not a design flaw like "bendgate."

Thanks for your input, good to know - I feel a little better now. =)
Yeah, no big deal for real. As mentioned above, it is not a design flaw like the iBend.

Might even be fake according to comments. But we all know what @ssholes some folks are that hang around the interwebs.
Most likely is not true... But in case it is true... You can use the gaps as storage compartments... Or as card holders as shown in pictures... Nice feature... Lol
My Note 3 had a large gap on one side of the screen. It was like the screen wasn't set properly. I exchanged my phone and the new one didn't have the issue. Not a big deal. Issue was resolved.
You cant return the 6 plus for a 6 plus that doesn't bend
complete nonsense to even compare couple phones sleeping past quality control to fundamental design fault. I accidentally sat down with my Note 3 being in my back jeans pocket more than once (simply forgot, since I usually carry it in side pocket), so bending ip6 may not be as remote possibility as some want to make it.
its for the new screen shield
I went best buy to play with the Note 4, I tried to stick a business card and there was no gap there.
Scare Tactics
don't scare us like that! but honestly, sammy always takes care of it, and seeing as how the phone is already out in other parts of the world, we shouldn't see any issues over here in the US. its one of the only pluses to not getting a phone first :good:
According to Android Central it looks like it's acknowledged in the manual.

Oh and the fun continues...
"Galaxy Note 4 screen gap 'a necessary manufacturing feature,' says manual"

No biggie, since I really want this phone - I'll just plan to buy it in person, and inspect it before buying (problem solved). But I did find the above article interesting, and wondered if Sammy added that to their manual after some of the N3's had similar issues...
Nonsense!

Same here, there really is no gap! And if anyone sees one, just get an exchange!
It's not even noticeable until some kiddie decided to stick a piece of paper in it.
I can stick a piece of paper in my note 2 as well, it's clearly not an issue
but, people will continue to make a big deal about it here..
Everything has a "GATE" at the end nowadays???????
.... like its some kind of scandal... based off Watergate... very ghey imo
