Bricked Mi Mix3 5G using Phone Clone - Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5g Questions & Answers

I bought a Mi Mix 3 5G, in Australia, for my partner who is in the Philippines. The phone is still under warranty. My partner attempted to clone data from a Samsung phone using Huawei Phoneclone. My error in recommending its use as I used it with Huawei phones and hadn't realised the software was Huawei specific. The Mi Mix now appears to be bricked (I'm in Australia so I can't physically access the phone). My partner took it to a Xiaomi dealer however they won't touch it as it has an Australian IMEI. Currently looking at sending it back to Australia so that I can attempt to have it repaired. Are there any opinions on whether the phone is recoverable? Her daughter is quite cluey in all matters about phones and if there is a way to re-flash the phone she could quite possibly do it. Any thoughts? Thank you. I haven't played with phone roms and I'm quite clueless in this area.

My partner tells me it is absolutely dead. No lights, no response

Hello,
You must be download miflash and stock rom with the firmware format.
https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/miui/andromeda/
I have tested with miflash but i think this is optional if your run manually the bat/sh script.

I got many friends help me to bring back the dead xiaomi, and i got my xiaomi to the service center and to repair expert but no one can really bring it back from bricked, i got the conclusion that it is the ROM because all suggest to change whole main board because no sparepart for just the ROM, so i sold the dead xiaomi to somebody and put up some money to buy a new one
I have been facing same problem with redmi note 3g, took it to the service center, they suggested to replace motherboard which will cost RS.6500 with tax and 1 month warranty, however, redmi note prime is on sale for Rs.7000 with 1 year warranty, So there is no point getting motherboard replaced, And Mi Service centers don't repair any of the parts, though I'm in the process of getting it checked with a local mobile center, If I get any usefull information, I will share it here

NEED HELP with S8 Plus Retail Demo Model

Hello XDA Members
I tried to flash a stock rom into this s8 plus retail demo model# G955XU through ODIN 3.12.3 using stock firmware from sammobile. I get a PASS from ODIN but when the phone reboots and tries to install the files it goes upto 32% then restarts then this message comes up:
"Security Error: This phone has been flashed with unauthorized software & is locked. Call your mobile operator for additional support. Please note that repair/return for this issue may have additional cost"
I tried 3 different firmware from BELL, Rogers & Telus G955W Canadian carriers but no result. Also when I unzip the firmware files from Sammobile I get 5 files BL. Ap. CP. CSC_OYA & Home_CSC_OYA but in odin there are only 4 slots. I tried both home and CSC file into the CSC slot but no results. Your help will be greatly appreciated
Why do you want demo mode? It's literally a resource hog and can only be removed with hard reset. If you want the demo videos that come preloaded, you can download them from the Samsung retail website

kind of wondering the same. hopefully that's not the case, but yeah, kind of comes off that way with the little information given.
Hello
Hello there
I am facing the same problem, flashed with Odin and got and error message: The phone has been flashed with unauthorized software & is Locked. Call your mobile operator for additional support.
Any way around this problem?
Do let me know guys
In Europe for the S6 and S7 the demo units do not have the same hardware as the retail products for cost efficiency. There is therefore no way to get them to work with a retail software version.
I have not had any feedback as to the S8 but chances are that it is the same.
Shops here often get them free of charge and some do sell them to make some extra money.

1. Sounds like a stolen phone?
2. Hardware may be, and likely is, different as another user pointed out.
3. Even if you got it to work you couldn't make phone calls or use mobile data as the IMEI will likely be blocked/blacklisted by all the telcos.
Hey there guy I got a S8 SM-G950X LDU . Anybody knows how to flash it with odin?
This just doesnt seem right.
It is likely a stolen phone or something else.
I am closing thread for now.

A2017G Japan to A2017G European/other A2017G ROMs

Hi!
I am sorry if this has been asked here before. I'm fairly new to this kind of stuff.
So I'm a foreigner living in Japan. Due to the allure of local warranty, I decided to get the Axon 7 (A2017G JPV).
It has been months since the last Nougat update came to other A2017Gs but hasn't arrived on the A2017G JPV. So I thought, may be ZTE Japan was just taking a longer time, etc. So recently, I decided to contact customer support. And their answer was unclear at best. They were apparently still deciding if they would release a Nougat update for Axon 7.
So here's my question. Considering that my Axon 7 is also A2017G, is there a way for me to install the latest A2017G European ROM or any other A2017G Stock ROMs for that matter, without unlocking my bootloader and rooting? And get OTA updates from A2017G European? If so, can someone please kindly point me in the right direction, I'm getting a bit lost.
If that isn't possible, is there a way, to install the stock A2017G ROMs (aside from JPV) and then relock the bootloader afterwards?
Please help me. Thank you.

Hi
Thank you for replying so quickly.
Please bear with me as I am still a bit confused.
The link you gave mo contains Factory Images for the A2017G, right? Therefore, I should just put the factory images (zip file), into the root directory of my SD Card, and update via settings (no need to unlock bootloader or root, right?)?
My A2017G (JPV) is now on A2017G JPV1.0.0B03.
Which factory image should I use?
Thank you very much.

Are you mad?!!! This won't work as the signature's don't match.
At best you end up with a failed update, at worst a brick...

Considering @ultramag69 said, do you think I should still proceed with this?
I don't think you have to the same radio firmware with all the G version out there.... If you dare to try it probably you will end up bricking your phone.... So don try. Unless you are sure can warranty claim it if it is briked
Unfortunately this region locking thing came in, sometimes it's different hardware for different regions but mostly it's to stop the grey import trade...
Due to this it is a requirement to unlock your bootloader if you want to flash other region/carrier roms, which again is a trial in itself...
If you do wish to try it, make sure you have a flashable version of your FULL stock rom, not an OTA - the difference is an OTA is a patch, usually of a few hundred Mb or so to update parts of your ROM, the full ROM is a stand-alone installation that will completely replace the current ROM.
Generally this will get you out of hot water but be aware this is also not 100% guarantee...
It will probably also delete all your data, back up first....

What I'm confused about is he's not asking to flash A2017A/U firmware (where region locking comes into play) on his device, only another country's A2017G fw so why would he need to unlock bootloader? It's still fw for the global model if I understand correctly.

I'm on your side - the modem file might be different, but since the hardware is the same, it should work. Maybe the modem file has improved signal stuff for Japan, but it's extremely improbable considering ZTE's craptastic devs...
Also, what could be the worst thing that could happen? Here are the possibilities:
- Works: enjoy
- Installation failed: Should fail before even changing files anyways
- Soft brick: get to recovery, download full update zip, install, wait for Nougat
- Hard brick: "I woke up this morning and it was off, doesn't boot anymore, I want a replacement"
And if the modem is too crappy you can always go back to Japan's firmware
I believe that the Japanese version is different from the other G versions, at least on the modem level. Japan uses some bands that are not used by any other country in the world, so unless ZTE Japan decided to release the G model knowing that it would have some connectivity issues on all Japanese carriers, the Japanese G model must have at least a different modem.
Bold = band is present in the global G model
KDDI: CDMA BC0 / BC6, LTE 1/11/18/41
NTT Docomo: UMTS 1/9/19, LTE 1/9/19/21/28
Softbank: UMTS 1/8/11, LTE 1/8/9/41
I kinda get what you're getting at after looking further into the models. Basing off the spec sheets, Amazon JP has the exact same A2017G TD-LTE with matching bands sold by ZTE. Whereas on the ZTE JP page, it instead matches the bands of something named Axon 7 TD-LTE JP (couldn't find model number, but sounds like OP's A2017G). This has over half the exact bands available on A2017G, additional UMTS bands 6 & 19 and one CA band.
I think someone in another thread previously mentioned about potential signal issues with the Axon 7 being sold in Spain after flashing DE fw. Looking at their spec sheet, it appears to have a few bands missing, may have additional bands, but it's hard to tell since only the frequencies are stated. Could just be anecdotal as you'd think with the greater range of frequencies, it shouldn't face those issues. Anyways this is a separate matter, and potentially an apples to oranges comparison.
Thank you all for your advice and insights.
I figured, damn all worries, and just used the recovery mode to flash the update.zip.
Lo and behold, it was updated with seemingly no issue. Even tried if my mobile data would work properly. And it did.
Thanks everyone!

We're all a bit mad though, flashing stuff on a 400 dolar thingy...
ive got the A2017 Chinese, bought from aliexpress. Ive rooted and installed the twrp flashable B15 from @djkuz, but the nougat firmware is awful for my DoCoMo phone reception (in far regional Nagasaki). So i need a method to either flash the modem for A2017G (not sure which B# release), or wait for the next chinese firmware release and hope for the best. Any suggestions or experiences to improve my reception? Is it the modem?
Thanks for all the contributions to this thread, as it has got me in the right direction.

Hey I know this is an old thread but I thought I would poke in and add my feedback. I also live in Japan and have the A2017G. I bought it because it was the only phone on the market at the time that [supposedly] supported Google Daydream. Later I realized that only the US version actually worked with Daydream. Later on support was added to European ROMS (when upgraded to 7.1.1). But for some reason the Japanese ROM, despite being 7.1.1 would say 'Incompatible Phone', even when installed manually. I contacted ZTE's customer service, which was terrible; all they said was "we don't know when it will be supported". This was about a year ago, so this week I just got sick of waiting, found the German firmware (A2017G-N-B10), installed it and everything works fine. The radios have no issues, and I was able to download Daydream right from the marketplace.
Thanks for everyone who contributed to this thread!

Unfortunately this is a common scam and why you should never buy contract phones from anyone anyone who cant prove to you that it isn't a contract phone don't even bother with them. You could try police but i doubt it would get anywhere...
this almost happened to me when i bought my s7e the buyer told me it wasnt on contract so i bought it and when it arrived it was a branded network phone i asked if he could prove it wasnt and he just strung me along until he got angry calling me a scammer. ha i sent it back straight away while i still had money back guarentee via eBay.
i am surprised they even told you any information about it, that information should be confidential unless you can prove you are the original contract holder.
Your options are either use it without a mobile connection or re sell the device overseas.
it will not be blocked overseas.
there is no way to unblock a blocked phone in your country. with good reason too.
the only way to fix it is to replace the motherboard that has a different IMEI.
sorry bro
Officially... you're SOL the IMEI is blocked by the carrier. However, via root methods you can change your IMEI, unfortunately I dont think were allowed to talk about that here ;P
Just root and change your IMEI, just google it
went to cell phone repair shop they did the root and imei fix. but now i am on andriod 6.0.1 and the vibrate doesnt work my phone just emits a faint beep noise instead of vibration. also LTE doesnt work stuck on 4g?. Can i upgrade to 7.0 and fix these issues?
Thanks
LTE is the same as 4G, so no need to worry. As far as the vibrating is concerned, you're on a Nougat bootloader. You have 2 options:
1. Flash a Marshmallow bootloader via Odin. (no need to wipe data and you won't lose anything): LINK
2. Flash a Nougat firmware via Odin. (there's a reset involved, so you will lose all data and root).

You can follow the steps below to update thread bootloader yourself. The guide is for the S7 flat, but the steps are identical. Just download the bootloader provided by me in the previous post and follow the steps:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/how-to/modem-samsung-galaxy-s7-sm-g930f-t3379596
You can use only the BL file.

Just sell it in another country ? I'm french and one day an ******* sold me a S5 blacklisted by himself for having a full refund with his insurance. So after that i sold the phone in switzerland and obviously informed the guy for the status of the phone. He told me that it wasn't an issue for him and phones are blacklisted by country so no problem
so if i flash nougat firmware via odin will i be able to make calls text data etc as in will my imei stay modified?
going to attempt it this weekend hopefully and get back on nougat

Looking for Flash Rom for n976 and n975

Hi guys,
I just bought two note 10 plus.
One of them are SM-N976V and the other one is SM-N975U
I think n796v for verizon and n795u for tmobile.
Both are unlocked and has working t-mobile sim but, nothing works.
I have experiance to flash rom for my z flip 3 and hoping i can find right firmware so that I flash firmware.
Usually, I do U1 firware then, doing again with U firmware but, this are little bit different.
So, in order to use both of them on tmobile, what ROM Firmware I need to flash then, what firmware I need to flash again?
What is SAMSUNG ROM FIRMWARE? Where I get it for these two?
Thank you in Advance!!!!!!!!!!!!
"nothing works" is suspect of previous modification. See here Updating Android on a Blacklisted Phone | XDA Forums Note if the device turns out to be blacklisted or bad ESN or similar, the forum thread will not be able to hold such discussion.
First and foremost the right choice is to have unlocked bootloader on the device. From that, you can boot whatever firmware you want to try, except updated U/SW.rev/bit version. I think the bootloader sets that not sure. That version is set inside the Qualcomm CPU/SoC with a miniature electrical trace that gets disconnected somehow like "blown fuse" aka QFuse. That's pretty weird technology for a smartphone you can guess why that's there. (Do not brick your device, there is risk in every component being flashed)
