I repaired the screen of my Mi mix 3 5g a little while ago. But since the repair I have been complaining about several bugs. Like the screen that starts flashing yellow but only when launching some applications. These applications seem to be youtube, the playstore and the different browsers. To be clearer this flashing means a constant change from yellow to black on the screen. I'd like to attach a video of this but I'm not allowed to post a link yet. I will do it as soon as possible. Do you think it's coming from the smartphone or the screen?
Of course, all the connectors are properly connected.

hay from today morning my htc touch shows a white screen and a crack on the bottom corner of the screen.i am sure that it dint fell down.

i have the same problem with the WHITE SCREEN. bought my ELF 3450 second hand over the net. i am from the Philippines by the way and HTC units are not yet very common here and also the parts/accessories. it worked fine for about 3 months with minor problems such as Auto-Restart/Auto Power On/OFf which was solved using the "plastic on the OMAP chip method" - tnx for the forum for the info by the way and charging problems which was also solved by buying me a aftermarket charger. but recently the problem of AUTO OFF occurred again until it did not work at all. so, i tried to check the Plastic over my chip but to no avail the fone was dead. so, i decided to head to one of our local cellphone repair shops and have my OMAP heated thinking that maybe there are just contact points inside who became loose. when we tried to power on it was good for a few minutes then i noticed the screen went darker and darker and then it was all WHITE. we restarted it but it's just WHITE. tried to send messages and call it but there is no response from the fone. i'm afraid i toast it bad or may be it's just the LCD who got toasted, i am clueless.
CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME WITHMY PROBLEM. CAN I GIVE LIFE BACK TO MY ELF? WHAT'S THE CHEAPEST & BEST SOLUTION TO THIS? THANX ...
Generally white screen problem are caused by defects in flex connecting the LCD to the mainboard or the connector itself. Try to disconnect and reconnect the LCD, if doesn't work - replace the LCD.

You warmed the OMAP? Interesting....
This problem sounds really complicated.
And im quite surprised of your 'warming' method.
I've had the exact same problem combined with the fact that my touch was resetting constantly. I was about a minute away from throwing it out of the window when I tried the plastic-piece-on-omap processor-technique described in one of the threads here. It solved the rebooting problem, but not the white screen issue. After a very frustrating couple of days where the screen started to blink and shake and then eventually turned to white alltogether, I lowered my brightness to the second stop from start, and since then I haven't experienced the white screen anymore. I believe it is heatrelated.
Whilst not being a full solution to the problem, at least it renders the phone usable.

Heating the device very seldomly solves anything, but causes more problems that you originally started with.
iam using htc touch (p 3450) for nearly 18 months . (bought & using it in india ) my hand set fell two times in water and about 15 times fell on the floor (from shirt pocket) . still its working fine .
and iam using "opera mini " for browsing the internet . for some sites iam using "opera mobile " . when iam on opera mini , continueously for long ours , suddenly it turns white . never come to normal screen unless restarted . but it happens sometimes , may be because of memory or heating up of some H/W .

my htc touch elf hat a similary issue, and my father just "wringed" it gently until the white screen disappeared. You should try it carefully, since it may help and it won't harm. Just take in in both hands and turn them in the opposite direction, so that the case gets slightly twisted.
If that doesn't help you should open it and check the LCD flat cable connector...

Again - flex connector problem. 'Wringing' it gently will eventually result in your LCD cracking, by all means - go for it, it will solve your white screen problem. Permanently.
I recently gave my htc touch hd for LCD Glass replacement. Before that the LCD was working fine. After replacing the Glass the display din't work and the repair guy there is some problem with the LCD and I have to change it too. But after few days he said its working but the display is dull. Today I got my phone back and there are colored lines on the display. Everything is working fine just these light colored lines all over the display from the time i switch it on. I even hard reseted the phone. I din't send it to a authorised service centre. Can anybody tell me how to solve this. I would really appreciate it. Thank you

I have a Asus Laptop with vertical(you did not specify what kind of lines are) color lines on the lcd.On the forum s i read that this is an LCD failure(DEAD).
Since both are LCDs i think it could be the same problem.

I recently purchased a broken S4 with a 'flickering screen' issue. Normally, people are told to return the phone for a replacement, but I can't do that.
In more detail, the problem begins after using the phone continuously for several minutes. The phone works flawlessly regardless of the broken glass screen, but after a while, begins to flicker. Only slightly at first, but then more and more severely until the screen shuts off. Turn the screen on and off again, and it's back to normal. (you normally need to leave the phone for a while before turning it back on, or it'll quickly just flicker itself off again). This to me suggests an over-heating problem, but I can't be sure.
I've wired the phone up the the TV using cheap cable, and the flicker doesn't show on the TV. That is, the phone starts going mental, doing its flicker thing, but the image on the screen remains constantly smooth when swiping - no flicker.
So... is this an image with the digitizer or the cable attaching the digitizer to the motherboard? If the screen doesn't flicker on the TV, that means we can rule out a motherboard issue, correct?
I just want to know what part of the phone to replace really. I don't want to buy a £80 digitizer only to have the same problems once it's been replaced.
Any suggestions welcome, cheers!
Based on your testing, it's very likely that you can rule out the motherboard. Unfortunately, that leaves the screen. You'll have to replace it, and you can reuse the existing midframe, but save as much of the adhesive as you can after peeling the old screen off, as the new screen doesn't come with adhesive to mount to the midframe.
Unless of course, the place you buy the screen from includes a small roll of the stuff.

Sometimes the kernel may be the cause too, I suggest to try first to reflash stock ROM. Here you can find how-to
With due respect to Antaresone I think I've found the best solution out there for most annoying screen flickering issues... Done a substential amount of digging and finally discovered the app "Twillight" works like a charm by enabling backlight control feature... Try it out first, then thank me and share your experience here ...

So my S7 edge got a replacement display due to being broken like 2 months ago. Today purple smudges started to appear, when I used the device for quite some time heavily and it got quite hot. They disappear when I change display mode or when brightness changes. But sometimes reappear. Is this a defective Display, should I get it replaced via warranty again?
Mine does the same thing, but it has never been repaired or suffered any kind of serious damage. It's not that annoying either.
Could it be some kind of factory defect?
When googling I found it clearly is a hardware display fault. As I had my display swapped by a third party mobile repair shop, they would be the ones to make accountable.
It only occurs at certain brightness settings, and not in all apps/states of display - mostly in those which are really bright like chrome browser without tab open, or dict.cc dictionary app.
I'll keep an eye on the issue and just demand warranty, as this display isn't even 2 months old now. They give 6 months of warranty on exchanged parts. So if it does not go away, I'll just get it replaced again.
It just occured today out of the blue, after flashing custom rom / flashing some stuff and constantly playing on the phone, and it became a bit hot.
It occurred exactly the same to me, after flashing a custom Rom. Now I can't remember which one, but it changed the screen's aspect ratio to simulate the S8's.
After that I flashed stock and the problem kept happening
But I don't think this can be caused by a custom rom... it's a hardware fault.
I hope so because I really wanna install a custom rom ;(
Google the issue - it happened a lot apparently and there is literally no connection to custom Roms - it's a defective Display. I did not have the issue anymore BTW.
I have to get back at this again. I recognized that I can Only see these smudges under certain conditions. I can not see them when I am inside. Only outside, and Only from specific angles - also dependant on screen brightness. When I cover the screen with my hand they disappear.
At first I thought it could also be some fault with the transparent protection skin I also applied one day before first noticing this purple screen problems. But the thing is - they move when scrolling, Only in a small portion of the screen but they go up and down.
The fact I can Only see them in daylight makes me wonder if it's got anything to do with the surrounding brightness sensor that does the automatic brightness and display mode for you.
I find it very strange that I can not provoke the issue indoors, also not if I set up brightness to max.

Funny thing is, people usually say this problem is permanent, but in my case it's just temporal.
Sometimes my screen is working just fine, and suddenly starts flickering. If I try to switch apps, a "ghost image" of the other app stays there in the background, and until the screen refreshes, it takes time, or maybe I have to switch my screen on-off again, etc.
Another times It turns white, but I still can use my phone properly.
I've identified it's just a screen issue, because as I said, I can actually use my phone fine, but I have this flickers and ghost images. These ghost images are actually the most annoying problem when they happen.
To do some testing, I downloaded a burn-in test app to check every colour, and I've noticed that most colours work fine, but just the white and grey were weird? Like, maybe in the top of the screen the colour wouldn't show, but in the rest of the screen it was working.
Other times, the screen starts to display "colour lines" in front of everything, and after some time they disappear.
Want I want to know is, is this a hardware problem, or software? I guess it's hardware, I'd find it weird to be software.
If so, changing the screen would fix this ghost images and flickers? I haven't tried changing a phone screen before, but I can just buy one and there are videos for my model on how to change the screen so I could do it.
What I want to know is, how to fix this, and If replacing the screen would do. I honestly am against the consumerism trend of throwing away phones, so I at least want to try.

so it could be software or hardware based.
first i would make a full backup and then try to completly reset the firmware and check if the issue is done
if not...it could be the screen or the mainboard or the connector to the mainboard.
at first i would try to change the screen to a new one. mostly the screen have problems. if that not work it can be the mainboard...for a buying a mainboard i would look at ebay for a completly damage devices just to remove the mainborad there and to buod in to your Device

I commented my problem with a friend who studied CS with me, and he told me after seeing the phone that in his opinion it's likely the screen. I think so too.
It's ebay a decent play for buying a screen? Or better aliexpress? I've seen screens for huawei p10 lite in aliexpress
