How to turn on Wifi-Calling and VoLTE on 8T after update - OnePlus 8T Guides, News, & Discussion

Hello everyone!
Finally I've find way to turn on Volte and Wifi calling back on 11.3.4 and 11.4.5!
When i bought the phone on the stock version i had aviability to turn on VoLte and WifiCalling, but after 2 updates - 11.3.4 and 11.4.5, dont why this options gone.
Little guide how to bring back this option on your phone:
1. Use this app "Apk Extractor" to backup your currently Logkit
(https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ext.ui&hl=pl&gl=US)
2. Download this version of Logkit: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bQYKY6tI5O37yXVyXpFYdOHIvMB9iuMt/view
3. Now, open the dialer app and dial *#800# to access the menu.
4. Scroll down and tap the Function switch option and turn on VoLte and WiFi calling.
5. Reboot phone
6. Check Sim & Network option
7. After that reinstal your backup Logkit!

I do now have the option to turn on wifi calling! However when I toggle it on, it does not stay on. KB05AA on Verizon wireless.

Thanks now I can see mine and it's already on?

Can someone upload the backup of the original apk. I kinda didn't do that. Lol thanks I'm advance. Also mine doesn't stick either. I am on verizon as well.

You can just look for it in the apps, make sure you press "show system app" and after you found the logkit, press "Uninstall updates"

i already have this option in my mobile v2001, i activated but its not working for some reason, i guess it needs Qualcomm driver update just like op 7..

You can also activate VoLTE by changing MBN with Qualcomm PDC like OP5/6/7 but you must be rooted now
Follow the guide here
Download archive, read the pdf, it's in french but you have screenshots for explaination, if you have some questions, quote me
It can be usefull just for using software with your parameters / Carrier

hi, i don't find logkit apk in apk extractor. however I displayed the system applications
have an idea why?

i tired to enable volte and vowifi and both are enabled but still no volte or vowifi on my old phone it worked fine same sim in th e8t and its not working any ideas?

Thanks for this. Just tried and I now have the WiFi calling option and it works fine (for Vodafone UK).
Funny thing is even when I reinstall the extracted (backed up) logkit it still doesn't revert to the original one. Uninstalling updates also does revert back but it fine. I can't imagine there's any harm in using the downloaded one.

After upgrading to OOS12 this method is not working any more.. Does anybody have a new solution to get volte vowifi back?

In OOS12 and ColorOS12 access to logkit and engineering mode were somewhat hidden by developers.
The easiest way to access toggles is obtained with root access and Magisk.
Just install attached module. Enable VoLTE and VoWiFi toggles.

Thank you! Works flawlessly!

If you are getting volte icon like volte1 and volte2 then volte is enable. Just try to call and enjoy. If it's help just click thanks.
If anyone is on lineage os try this and report me back if it's working on it too then I will edit it to lineage os too.
Those who will publish this guide in their site please give proper credits.

Thnx.. alot.. worked for me..in one go...:good:
Not this one but simple trick worked for me given by @TechGeekD without first step
no need to download any application to fix VoLTE
1). clean install latest build
2). goto settings -> SIM cards
3). set cellular data to Jio 4g & Calls to Jio
4). goto SIM 1 settings (or SIM 2 settings if Jio is in sim slot 2 )
5). see if Enhanced 4G LTE Mode is enabled or not !! enable it if not
6). goto Access Point Names (aka APN)
7). select 3 dot menu press Reset to default
8). add new APN with settings given below
APN SETTINGS
Name: ims
APN: IMS
APN Type : IMS
(notice one thing APN Type & APN is written in Capital !!!)
do not restart thats the bug ims setting stays there but not visible in settings cause after restarting we can not add new ims setting with same APN and APN Type but simple tweaking with APN & APN Type will fix it (but still don't restart after VoLTE gets working it will be gone again and you can't tweak it now)
Edit :- Selinux needs tobe on permissive mode

This is a permanent fix. His method is temporary due to restart won't allow volte. But this method works charming after restart also. Your choice, I am not forcing...
Not working here. I am on R 5.7.4. Had done a clean flash.
Tried every method. And even if VoLTE works, neither you can send sms nor receive.

Did you tried these workaround? Can you get volte icon in dialer in front of sim1 and sim2? If you are able to call through jio4g voice app. Follow steps from starting like deleting .jio4g voice folder and all that. These were tested personally by me in RR . If nothing works I better recommend you to flash 19s eui then clean flash lineage latest rom ( for bugs report to rom's threads) don't try to flash any other bootloader or modem files. As @codeworkx also mentioned that lineage is nothing to do with bootloader or modem. Note - MM have issues but nougat don't.

[GUIDE]Enable VoLTE for unsupported carriers

Hi Let me introduce tutorial, how to enable VoLTE/VoWiFi for some other carriers. All credits goes to @Airpil for his great work with enabling diag port for Pixel 2 phones and to @topjohnwu for his original Magisk project.
UPDATE:
Here is another way by @Vortuks , how to get things working.
Code:
https://github.com/stanislawrogasik/Pixel2XL-VoLTE-VoWiFi
ANOTHER UPDATE:
On Android 11 you can use module VoLTE_enabler_pixel_2_v1_1.zip, but you will myabe need to use SeLinux permissive module too.
BIG UPDATE:
use only on PIE
for android 10 use solution with PDC tool
I created new magisk module with everything needed for enabling VoLTE. Just install VoLTE_enabler_pixel_2_v1_1.zip and enjoy.
this will work only, if there is proper *.mbn for your provider
sometimes is needed to remove/add module after updating monthly updates
sometimes is needed to toggle off/on enhanced 4g LTE mode and go to airplane mode and back
Prerequizites:
your carrier have to support this feature
and you have to enable this feature on operator's side
PC with windows
you must have some luck
Prepare your PC:
google for QPST_2.7.474 and install it
install provided drivers (if they willn't work, google for better)
from provided nokia_mbn_files.zip find the right mcfg_sw.mbn for your carrier, if there isn't any mbn for your carrier, you can try another one, but without warranty
Prepare your phone:
backup everything, what you can especially EFS partition - just for sure
root your phone with provided Magisk.zip
boot up your phone
In Magisk Manager app find and install VoEnablermodule, restart phone
there will be new settings under Settings-Network & internet-Mobile network-Advanced
connect phone to PC and set to charge only mod
in terminal emulator run this commands (this will enable diagnostic port on phone):
Code:
su
setenforce 0
setprop sys.usb.configfs 1 && setprop sys.usb.config diag,serial_cdev,rmnet_gsi,adb
Next steps:
find PDC tool from installed QPST and open
select device from drop-down menu, if it is empty, you will have to reinstall/choose another driver
click load button and find prepared mcfg_sw.mbn file
now right-click on new loaded profile and select SetSelectedConfig - Sub0
and now button Activate
activate provided VoEnabler module via MagiskManager
restart device
and now, if you are lucky one, your VoLTE is working :victory:
Final steps:
if everything is working, you should reinstall original Magisk from twrp
Troubleshhoting:
99,9% of all problems comes with wrong driver
open windows device manager and try to choose another driver for HW like:
Qualcomm HS-USB Modem 9091
Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 9091
Qualcomm HS-USB WWAN Adapter 9091
Is it working?
dial *#*#4636#*#*
Phone information-3dots-IMS service status
If IMS Registration: Registered and Voice over LTE: Available you won
after update with factory images you will have to re-do this steps

Hi I am stuck at the terminal emulator step.
when i type in "setenforce 0" the terminal says "couldn't set enforcing status to '0' invalid argument"
i tried googling and tried some stuff but no luck.
Note: Is there something to do with the kernel coz i am on Sultan Kernel and not sure if its build for only enforcing or only permissive.
please get back to me ASAP.
thankyou

Hi, yeah, my mistake :angel: You have to use "su" command first to allow root access. Full command is:

setprop sys.usb.configfs 1 && setprop sys.usb.config diag,serial_cdev,rmnet_gsi,adb
And please, don't quote full first post

Interesting try to restart your phone, open windows device manager, connect phone (now should be detected some new hw), open terminal and write commands and look, if some new hw was detected or if you have some new unknown devices in device manager. You should also look to Airpil's thread for some help.

Vodafone in India has not provisioned the Pixel 2 till yet for VoLTE despite many people getting after them. A lot of noise was generated by users when Google pointed out that they had done what was required in the Android Pie updates.
Many thanks for this guide as it has helped me to enable VoLTE on my Pixel 2. On checking with *#*#4636#*#* it shows that VoLTE is now provisioned for voice. I now need to connect to any other phone where VoLTE is working and see if it indeed connects using VoLTE.
The only problem I had was in opening the port before using QPST. I had to type in the commands a second time in the terminal and then the port opened allowing me to proceed.

Hi,
did u do it over the stock rom/kernel or on any custom kernel.
and can u post every step that u did to get it done.
currently i m on pure stock 9.0 pie with locked bootloader on february security patch.
this is my previous comment over the thread..

I'm back overseas now, but while I was home for the holidays I used a Straight Talk ATT sim and had no problems using the MagiskHide Props module to manually add the lines from this module:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/module-v4-volte-enabler-t3649613
It was somewhat inconsistent though. Seemed to only work with certain people I called. Also, I use Google Voice when I'm home, so that may account for the inconsistency.
I haven't tried the method outlined by the OP, though. I've had a solid setup for months now and I'm a bit hesitant to try anything that might kink it up.
Edit:
Now that I think about it, I never checked the IMS Registration to be sure, so I can't be sure if it was actually working, but it would show the "HD" calling icon on the dialer screen when connected, so I just assumed it was working.
Thank you for sharing this guide.
I can confirm, that VoLTE and VoWiFi is working fine in Orange Poland and PLAY (Poland). In case of PLAY, both services are disabled by default. You have to contact with service provider and ask them to enable WiFi Calling. By enabling it, VoLTE will be also enabled.

Any chance to get WiFi calling working on Orange PL?
And will this work at all on OG Pixel?

It seems, that I haven't been patient enough in case of Orange PL... I have redone the tests and was able to make VoWiFi to work. There's a need to reboot the device after swapping SIM cards. After reboot, VoWiFi works fine.

This is a modded version of Magisk, which gives an ability to enable diagnostic port (normally it can't be enabled). It was prepared for Pixel 2 XL, but it also works fine with Pixel 2. I can't tell, if you need to use this version or not. Install standard Magisk version and check if you can enable this port using provided commands. If not, then it's up to you to decide, if you want to check modded version of Magisk or not.
Has anybody tried to install the modified Magisk on android Q Beta yet? I am getting error 1, it doesn't install

VoWIFI not working?

I have enabled ViWIFI by dialing *#*#869434#*#* and I have activated Make calls using Wi-Fi and turned "Network preferences" to Prefer Wi-FI.
I work in construction down below where I don't have any signal but I do have stable wifi. People can't reach me nor can I reach them. I can only get in contact in certain spots, and I assume that's because I'm getting a phone signal, and not the Wifi kicking in. Is this down to the phone carrier, or doesn't it work with this phone? Is it possible that work disabled this feature on their network?
For me the same and I am interested too if someone has a solution to get that work.
Yes, for me both works fine. Have volte and vowifi with my RN7 working. For vowifi I need to modify the modem by editing with Qualcomm pdc / qfil tool.

So there's an extra step I need to take. Could it be possible that my carrier doesn't support vowifi on my phone, or do you think it will work if I modify the PDC? I have actually no idea what PDC is

I've got QPST, PDC etc. all working and my device is showing up.
My phone comes up with Row_Commercial showing Sub 1 as active and everything else inactive.
First I changed Row_Commercial's sub 0 and sub 1 to active... Rebooted the phone and tested my VoWiFi... Still not working on T-Mobile.
I then reset my Row_Commercial setting back to how they were.
Second:
I set commercial_MTS Sub 0 & Sub 1 to active like you mentioned.
Did the same steps as above rebooted the phone and still am unable to use VoWiFi.
Even went through with the *#*#VOWIFI*#*# toggle... Rebooted the phone and still am unable to use VoWiFi.
Which carrier are you using?
Wonder if mine is blocking my VoWiFi access
So I've checked out this thread and downloaded the TMO-Commercial MBN file. Loaded it into PDC as instructed and with Sub 0 activated, I'm able to now see the VoLTE icon on top of my screen. My phone shows VoWiFi and VoLTE are switched on in the *#*#4636#*#* menu as before (see screenshot).
(Funny thing is I found with both Sub0 & Sub1 activated VoWiFi is greyed out on the 4636 menu).
I can now select VoWiFi which I couldn't do before however when I chose it nothing happens. ( see video)
Getting closer... Hopefully we can get this working on T-Mobile... Fingers crossed

Found some information about vowifi activation on other Xiaomi phones, provider Digi Romania, using PDC tool. I'm tried to activate the vowifi service (volte already working, same provider) using PDC tool (changed profile to "DT Greece") but without success.

Which profile did you use? ROW_Commercial which was activated only provides VoLTE. Activating e.g. AIRtel_Commercial results in working VoWifi, but broken VoLTE :/ Und unfortunately the profiles mentioned in https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78133826&postcount=23 don't exist.
Edit: Extracted some configs from non-hlos.bin, it contained a "Telefonica Germany Commercial" mbn file, unfortunately no luck with VoWifi so far.

No need to use extra *.bin.
Just use pdc tool and select DT_Poland_commercial.
Have vowifi and volte working with o2 Germany.
But after last update (xiaomi.eu) 11.0.2 Android 10 the volte Symbole doesn't appear. But it is working.
Check when doing a call and the network don't change from 4g to gsm. Also check with ussd code *#*#4636#*#* -> telephone info 1 or 2 -> more -> IMS Service Status "voice over lte available"
Thanks for the hint, here it works now also with DT_Poland_commercial. But really strange it doesn't work with the MBN for Tef_Germany_Commercial.
I'm wondering if my phone is now stuck on T-Mobile regarding roaming networks. I'm in the Netherlands now and the phone is only in T-MobileNL instead of using KPN like my work phone does (using also o2).

Same here. The messege "QMI connection not ready, please use USB driver version 1.00.32 or later and fix the connection before using PDC tool" appear and not work. Tested multiple Qualcomm drivers, multiple miui distributions, nothing.
Tried to enable VoLTE & VoWIFI on my Redme 9 Pro, using the PDC and can actually get the VoWIFI works. However, once the device reboot, it just fall back to the ROW_Commercial profile and have to redo again to get it work.
Do not know if this happened on other Redmi series?
Can anyone help with this issue?
On my poco f3 i have figured out with PDC but after reboot the values reset...any fix for this?
Could anyone tell where the config's are stored. I was on Android 11 - now switch back to Miui to do the changes via PDC. I did a backup of the EFS patition via OrangeFox. Then flash an Android 12.1 Rom. Restore EFS None of the custom Roms works with VoWifi
Any suggestions?

[GUIDE] Fix/Enable 5G and DSS

Enable 5G and DSS on OnePlus 8T
As you may or may not know OnePlus didn't add proper changes into EFS configs to allow us use 5G on every network in the world. This guide will help you unlock 5G access and DSS (Dynamic Spectrum Sharing) and doesn't require root access until you don't want to access 5G in SA (standalone) mode.
I'm NOT responsible to any damage you make to your phone. There's barely any chance to damage anything, but you've been warned.
Requirements:
EngineerMode apk installed on your phone.
USB Debugging enabled on your phone.
OnePlus drivers installed on your desktop.
QPST app installed on your desktop.
Qualcomm diagnostic drivers.
Downloads:
EngineerMode apk: ApkMirror
QPST app: Mediafire
Qualcomm drivers & my configs: GDrive
Instruction #1 - enable 5G:
On your phone, dial *#801# > use EngineerMode > enable Engineer Mode Toggle (ON) and connect your device to your Desktop via USB.
On your Desktop, open Device Manager. You should see two new 'other devices'. Update their drivers by: right click > Update Driver > Browse my computer [...] > Let me pick [...] > All devices > then browse for Qualcom diagnostic drivers you've downloaded & use qcmdm.inf > choose something called 'Android Modem 9018'.
Open QPST. You should see devices in Active Phones and Ports list. If not: Add new port > add two devices shown in the list. Then: Start Clients > QPST EFS Explorer and select SDX55 device. This may take a few seconds.
Once you see EFS Explorer go to /policyman, then copy to a separate folder following files as a backup: carrier_policy.xml, carrier_policy.xml_Subscription01.
Delete those 2 files from the EFS Explorer. Find my corresponding configs and copy them over to the /policyman.
On your phone, disable Engineer Mode Toggle, disconnect from your PC and reboot.
Once booted, dial *#*#4636#*#* > Phone Information > Set preferred network type to NR/LTE/TDSCDMA/GSM/WCDMA. Now you should have 5G NSA enabled.
* To enable (force) 5G SA, you have to use Network Signal Guru app to change NR5G Mode from NSA to NSA/SA or SA. But this will require root access.
You can make sure everything is working correctly by using CellMapper app and checking 5G Status. RESTRICTED means your plan doesn't allow you to use 5G, NOT_RESTRICTED means you are too far from the cell, try to move closer, CONNECTED means everything is working perfectly. However, this method isn't ideal - every software update or SIM card change you will loose all modifications.
Instruction #2 - enable DSS:
Dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS) provides a very useful migration path from LTE to NR by allowing LTE and NR to share the same carrier.
Follow 1st and 3rd step from Instruction #1.
Once you see EFS Explorer go to /policyman and copy lte_feature_restrictions.xml file to your computer - we're going to edit it, so make a backup somewhere.
Open the file with a text editor of your choice.
You should see a section like this:
XML:
<plmn_list name="dss_plmns" ns="global">
228-01 505-01 505-11 505-39 505-71 505-72 204-04 262-01 262-06 204-16 204-20 232-03 232-07 204-04 311-480 240-02 238-06 240-01 206-01 204-08 204-12 204-18 204-69 238-01 238-10
</plmn_list>
These are the networks allowed to use DSS. Now you should go to MCC-MNC and find a proper mcc-mnc
codes for your network. Add them to the file as shown above.
Now you should find section looking like this:
XML:
<lte_feature name="NR_DSS">
<all_of>
<boolean_test name="carrier:dss_is_enabled" />
<serving_plmn_in list="dss_plmns" />
</all_of>
</lte_feature>
And change it to this:
XML:
<lte_feature name="NR_DSS">
<any_of>
<boolean_test name="carrier:dss_is_enabled" />
<serving_plmn_in list="dss_plmns" />
</any_of>
</lte_feature>
All you have to do now is to save the file, copy it over to the /policyman in the EFS Explorer and copy step 6. and 7. from Instruction #1. And that's it!
Remember: OP8T from different regions with support of the same 5G bands would sometimes not work in the NSA mode in your carrier network because of different ENDC combos and different LTE anchors. Check if your device would support your carrier network at cacombos.com.
More on how to properly edit carrier plicy files at MT-TECH Blog. Guide tested on KB2003: Play/P4, KB2007: T-Mobile and KB2005: Verizon.

Well I did all these steps and it made no difference for me. I still can't get 5g. I used to get it here and now I don't. I don't know if something changed on my phone or if a tower went down or what. The CellMapper app has zero 5g information in it for me, and I'm not paying $50 for the upgrade for Network Signal Guru to tell me more information. When I forced to 5G, I get absolutely nothing ):
When 5g was working it was only about 10mbps, and LTE is 100mbps, so it makes sense to stick with LTE for now. I was excited to be able to try out DSS though.
If nothing else, thanks for this guide. It was nice to get QPST up and running again. It had been a long time since I used it.

I saw you have KB2007 so you must be in the different region. If it got worse (no 5G at all) I suggest sticking to the MT-TECH.FI blog and trying to modify carrier policy files the way Mr Minh did.
The first time I was trying to get 5G working I used many guides with many configs but none of them worked. So I followed his instruction.
It seems like every model may have different configs. I'm sorry it didn't work for you

T-Mobile's configs are different than mine, however my configs also work just like @jefffeely posted here.
If you're lacking 5G connectivity you can try either my or jefffeely's configs. It really depends how the carrier has developed the 5G architecture around you.

Interesting. I would like to know that as well. Was it still gone after reboot?
I also want to know what made you decide to delete the whole folder
I can confirm that this guide worked on Verizon in the U.S, at least on the n5 band. However, 5G speeds are still slower for me than 4G. While it may prove more useful in the future, I don't think 5G is mature enough to replace 4G just yet.

It really depends how the 5G is developed at your location. I've tested NR NSA in different parts of a single city and sometimes it's worse than 4G too. As you said - not mature enough yet.
